i have bought an sh desire hd that came with android revolution and rooted. is has an orange invoice and warranty but it was not sim locked. neighter the box is orange branded or written someware that it only works in orange.
how do i know how was it from factory? was it orange dhd? wwe dhd?
i am asking this in case i need to return to a stock rom for warranty!
If you bought 2nd hand in a private sale, then the warranty will no longer be valid. I just double checked, see:
http://whatconsumer.co.uk/second-hand/
this is bull****. of course the warranty is available. it doesn't metter the name on the warranty. if u have warranty+invoice it doesn;t matter who takes it to warranty.
Download terminal emulator from the market. Open it up, and type: "getprop ro.cid"
Tell us the result, and experienced users can tell you what the device really is
this is what shows me "HTC__032"
does anyone know?
It is east-european non-branded WWE Desire HD

I bought an HTC Desire 2nd hand on Ebay, which developed a fault and had to be sent to HTC under warranty. I sent a copy of my paypal invoice as proof of purchase, and HTC honoured the warranty.

Dave

I've bought numerous htc desires on ebay (uk) that have been faulty and htc have repaired all of them without question.

You could try the http://www.htccode.com, the guy there is a regular forum user and he unlocked my Hero the 2nd day it was released.
Great service and support
Are there any Indian Desire users here who got the Indian branded phone? If so, I need a goldcard for my SLCD Bricked Desire. If one can be given, it'll be great. Thank you .
Nobody? Is their any way I can do this?

I have a Desire. But I think that a goldcard is only needed for branded Desires, not unbranded ones like you get in India.
Mine is branded, I can only install Asia_India ROMs on it.
Is it branded by DoCoMo? Or did you buy it from a normal retail store?
I bought it from a normal retail store.
Although it doesn't matter, I sent it back for replacement, should be getting one by Thursday.
Hi, i've just purchased an used One X, which is supposed to have an European Warranty (the seller says so), i noticed today that i have an African CID (HTC__016). Now, i'm not good in geography, but Africa is not Europe..
Is the CID related to the warranty or is it only an HTC thing? I'm sure it's no brand because of the HTC string before the number, but i'd like to know if i can rely on my warranty in case of need or not
Thanks!
Is there a web site to check that, maybe with my IMEI number?
P.s: i live in Italy
You can ask the online retailer where to go for warranty repairs.
As far as I know, HTC's warranty used to be region specific. It was also mentionee in their warranty booklet. But with the One X, the warranty booklet just mentions that warranty is applicable in countries where the device is sold. So, in theory, ifu have a HTC repair center in your country, and the One X is officialy being sold in your country, then warranty is applicable.
I'm getting the One X today. I'm in Lebanon, so I'm not really sure where the thing is coming from, but my friend is buying it for me from his friend in Beirut, which is an area I trust more than where I am. Will the phone still get updates when I'm back home on AT&T? Because I heard about that 4.0.4 update and the battery sounds amazing. I'm coming from the HTC Vivid, and my battery doesn't last more than an hour anymore.

it should. i have an int'l one x, uk version, on at&t (at&t go phone microsim) and have been getting updates on the same schedule as the uk.
How can I tell from where it is? I haven't gotten it yet, but not really sure from where its coming.

i purchased mine from a uk seller. it came in a box marked taiwan, so that's how i deduced it was manufactured in taiwan. i assumed my phone was for the uk, but i wasn't totally certain, because the language choices were pretty diverse. however, when the most recent ota update was rolled out, the update was not available for my one x (and i did check daily) until it was made available for the uk.
there are probably better ways of determining origin - try a forum search - but my one x worked well from day one, so i did not have the same incentive as some others to try to actually determine for which country it was designed.
Alright, thank you. I will have the phone pretty soon. I am very excited right now!

Quick question guys, does the international One X have warranty in the US? I just received mine from Amazon and the label on the box says "...-Warranty-..."
There is also documentation inside the box about a warranty but I am unsure if it's effective here in the US. Thanks

i think one possibility is to check amazon's warranty policies if you bought through them. i believe they treat sold items differently depending on whether they were the direct retailer or the intermediary for another retailer.

They sell it as: "HTC One X S720e Cellphone - No Warranty - White" but the box and documentation says otherwise lol. I guess i'll have to call them.

According to the frequency band chart, the device is 100% compatible on all bands using O2.....
Take a look at this page I've located....including the APN settings information.
https://apn-uk.gishan.net/en/device/htc-one-m9
You should be good based on the correct APN settings....g

Good find, except it doesn't specifically answer the question.
I know these phones work in the UK its just whether I need a different Radio.
Thanks
Right, the Unlocked/Developer edition will not update the software...I've been down this road before.
Once again I have bought a counterfeit M9, this time from Amazon...
And once again no one cares...
Meanwhile I still haven't got a mobile phone.
Anyone now where I can buy and original HTC M9 in the UK please?

Oh no !!
This is twice ??
Amazon will take it back....if you claim warranty against it.....especially if you are beyond the 30 day return window.
I had a camera that I bought last year that was a sony clone....and at 45 days out I sent it back under warranty...
I sent them an email and explained....then they issued an RMA..
I bid you good luck !!!...g

Just spoken to HTC, thankfully this one is not a counterfeit....
BUT
It is meant for the American market, which means it wont work in this country!!!
I've never had so much trouble buying a phone.
So I have given up with HTC and am buying a Sony as I can get a free PS4 with it!!
I would be mad not to!!
