I think I need to change out my motherboard. Anyone know where I can get a motherboard replacement for an HTC Evo without any water damage?
Thanks!

That's a no go for a motherboard man. They don't sell them seperately unless you get an evo with a broken screen and harvest the board. But you would have to activate the esn on the board to your account so just get a new evo lol oh and what he meant was TEP or insurance

Yea not to dodge your question but get a new phone. cor4twenty has a good point with the esn activation it would be much easier to just get a new or used evo.
Hey guys! Thanks for all the replies! Yeah I downloaded some widgets to lock my phone and I press the volume button to unlock my phone. Is there an alternative way to press ok in Recovery? You know how you have to press the power button for ok..any other way in recovery to press ok? since my power button doesn't work?
thanks again

hey guys, the history goes like this... a guy is selling a desire at a really low price, is brand new but when you turn it on it jumps to the fastboot screen right away
sooo my question is... could it be a software issue? or maybe the volume keys are messed up?
here is a picuture of it ---> http://s357.photobucket.com/albums/...ire/?action=view¤t=2010-09-11201019.jpg
i havent tested the phone myself, just seen pictures and talked to the owner....
I have a g1 and i have adb and fastboot working on my laptop so, could i root it from there flash a rom and maybe it will fix that? what do you guys think?? any ideas??
This is purely guesswork, but it could be water damaged.
Warranty? If not then buy yourself a can if campressed air and take the phine apart.. not that hard I did it!

the phone is brand new and it seemw like this guy has a bunch of desires, he says he received this one in a recent batch but this is the only one with a problem... so i dont think it could be water damage, maybe a really hard fall? or shake? cause it look perfect no scratches or scuffs or dents or nothing... weird uh?
I really want to buy it but i dont want to waste my money...
any other ideas? my main question is that if it can be fixed with root and a new rom... maybe?

Hello,
I am trying to permanently brick a evo and get rid of clockwork mod.
I cracked my whole screen and am trying to get a replacement.
What would be the best way to brick my phone and get rid of clockwork mod?
I already tried un rooting, got s-on again but couldn't delete superuser which they check.
Suggestions?
Thanks all!
Oh no worries. They replace screens for $35.
If the phone is fine then they will replace your screen no problems

Do they do this at sprint? Also I have insurance on the phone and brought it in they said they couldn't after they saw the superuser icon :/
Any ideas? Is the 35 with insurance or without

Bring it in to a different store. Rooting a phone cannot crack a screen, obviously. They were just being dicks. Also, if you decide to go the insurance route, they don't care if you're rooted.

It wouldnt die... wow
Just brought my wife's phone into Sprint today with a shattered screen. Her phone was rooted and they didn't say a thing. 1 hour later, brand new screen and they replaced the bezel around the screen that was dented from a previous drop. Free since we have TEP.
The glass and the bezel are actually all one piece. They replace the entire front of the phone for cracked screens.
So my Inc has a weird power button issue. If I slightly touch the button it acts as though I pushed it. My screen comes on a lot due to it.
Ive tried using compressedair to clean out the button area but that's no good. Any way I can fix this without cracking it open?

find a case that covers the button and makes it harder to push like a silicon case?
did you ever spill a liquid on the phone?

No spills, I just seems to bewearing out. I have a couple of cases but neither really help.
It actually seems to work better if I slightly touch it and not physically push it.

I still have it under warranty with best buy. Should I just go get a new phone? I'm not gonna void my warranty and still pay for it.

Yep black tie coverage. Thats what I decided, I went and waited at best buy for 3 hours today and wound up with a crappy loaner phone (LG Vortex 2.2.2).
Hopefully in a few days I will get the faux upgrade but it is entirely possible that Ill just get a refurb inc.
I will miss the Inc if they don't get me another one.

So I accidentally dropped the phone and broke the digitizer. So I bought a new one. I went to a friend of mine working in the service of phone repairs and told me that there is a chance after we install the new digitizer that it will need recalibration and that it will need to wipe everything from the phone to do so.
Do you have any experience in this process? Is what he says possible? And if yes will I need to re root the phone?
Thanks in advance!
nothing? :/ noone has replaced one?

That's usually never the case, newer touch screens do not need calibration.

Signs of use? There's no way of telling if its new, I guess you could call it new if the screens totally spotless though

Ah right, by that I meant capacitive screens do not need calibration, the Desire HD screen is a capacitive screen.

The glass over my lens cracked and I want to get it fixed ASAP. Should I figure out a way to unroot, if that's even possible before going in?
Thanks in advance!

Gaining root most always technically voids all warranties. I have always unrooted in those situations. With physical damage they might not even check. When I got a replacement for my S5 they didn't even want it in person. Just sent a new one, and I sent back the old one in the mail. So maybe initiating it online would help you.
If u want to restore your lg g4 u can follow my post dont do the root method tho and ur lg be on default settings like nothing has touched it

OP asked about insurance, not warranty. Warranty doesn't cover physical damage by the user.
It technically does void insurance but they don't check your system for root when it's a simple screen replacement. They don't even need the unit to be on. Ask me how I know!

Because I cracked my screen and took the phone in to Best Buy and I conveniently left my battery at home and the geek squad guy told me it wasn't an issue because they didn't need to turn it on to replace the screen.
