Here's my Thunderbolt car mount. I am using a Breffo Spiderpodium which allows you to hook up the phone to the vents or any other part of the car you want.

It's not a permanent mount, but it is nice for trips.

I picked one up last week, I really like its versatility. I use it on my desk at work and if I take a company car I simply take it and use it as a mount in the car.
I used to have that exact head unit.
Just bought two after seeing this. One for my Thunderbolt and one for my G Tablet. Nice find.

I think I might do this mod with the case that came with my Seidio Rugged.
Picture says it all a gps holder with a perfect fit and extreme protection all you need is tape and a old gps holder

Red Green would be proud. I just might have to do this as I need a gooseneck type mount for my car and I cannot find one like the one you got (ECdOc) in a gooseneck style.
Why not use epoxy or JB Weld? No tape to come loose and you can file it down and paint it to look factory.
Hello every one, I got board and since I hate the suction cup they provide it sucks. I want to go with a ram mount but keep the same dock since its seems impossible to get the pogo plugs out of the dock or I might just make my own. So I disassembled everything i could to see what I could find and this is what I found.

So, I got bored of waiting for a wireless charging dock and took matters into my own hand. Used:
Nokia DT-900 wireless charger
3 sheets of cardstock
Glue
It doesn't looks too shabby:

Holds the Nexus 7 well:
Side piece can be pulled to the side....
So the Charging pad can be removed/replaced if need be.
Can't wait to get a case in and test it with one on
I should have been more detailed in starting, only the supports were planned out, the rest was done on the fly, but I might try making a blueprint of it in a few days if it stands up so others can make one and just modify the charging port for other Qi chargers.
If you travel on trains, busses, or planes with Seatback trays, this is for you.
Now on Delta it fits perfectly. On united I had to use extra force. Basically the wire hangs on the securing mechanism for the Seatback tray.
Anything bigger than a n7 won't fit. It works great with my moko case on too.
The rotating part works well and will tighten up.
Confirmed compatible on Delta, Amtrak, and United Airlines.
