I can't get wifi to work with cm7. At first it was crashing the phone. Then I reinstalled the latest radio. Now it is not crashing but it does not work. Also, edge and 3g is very slow. Going back to 6.1.1 makes everything fine.
I tried CM7 stable and rc4. No luck.
Any suggestions?
Check to see what security your router is using. I had wpa/wpa2 security with aes/tkip cipher and I could connect to the router but data wouldn't go through. I switched the security to wpa only and aes cipher only and it works! Been good for a few minutes so if anything change I'll update. Best of luck.
I have the same problem too. Wifi constantly drops, and gps is slow to get my location, and sometimes inaccurate. I've tried re-flashing cm7 and the radio a few times but nothin. I've seen on other forums people with the same problem, but haven't seen a solution yet. Hopefully soon
Yea same thing here on cm7 my wifi always cuts out and works again. Someone on tmobile forums said that the 2.3 port or something has trouble porting the wifi and that's y because codes or something. I hope they fix it cuz I almost want 2.2 jus for wifi.

i had this problem too and whole security thing.. is some tru to it not all, i have 3 routers near my i have my own wifi, my family wifi, and my unlces all different types and security, my wifi was set to WPA/wpa2 psk, my family wifi is normal wep, and uncles is open, i tired to connect all 3 and would not connect, cause i did everything from a to b to fix flashing, reflashing, changing channels and more
and i found something that did work for me with CM7 is the twlan.ini in the etc/wifi
i grab that from cm 6.1.1 stable and pushed in cm7 and WORKS PERFECT
i can connect to all wifi routers with out one problem.. so for me its safe to say it is rom issue
Which directory exactly did you pull the file from?
it's in system/etc/wifi. i did it with winrar because my adb refuses to be fixed in cm7. if it works, ill mirror a CM7 rc4 with the old 6.1.1 file in it (with cm's permission of course.)
EDIT: It worked flawlessly! would i even need cyanogen's permission to upload "the fixed rom"? i have it as the full cm7 stable, just with the old cm6 twlan.ini in the system/etc/wifi folder.
Ah neo can u please cuz I hav the same prob with my wifi ??

Another vote for it working! I pushed it into nightly 39 through droid explorer after mounting system in clockwork recovery. GPS orientation still off but wifi works!
here you go to anyone who needs it.
cm7 7.0.0 w/ old twlan.ini
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10164756/update-cm-7.0.0-Slide-fixed.zip
you SHOULD be able to flash this over cm7, but i would nandroid first.
(the link will become active in a bit once it uploads.
this is cyanogen's ROM. I did not help create it, nor would i know how. I simply am a winrar wizard. If i broke any rules, please tell me and i will remove whatever. Enjoy.)
Thnkx I tried the rom but im still having wifi cut off. Guess ill stay with cm7 stable for now

i installed this about a week or two ago on my phone and everything worked perfectly,i loved it. but now for some reason,my wifi does NOT work. It scans, finds, and connects, but does nothing after that. no web pages load, the market doesnt load,NADA. Anyone got any ideas? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated
Reboot if you havent already, and remove that access point and re-add it. If that doesnt help, reflash ROM
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
tried all the above, backed up to 6.0 and wifi worked, did a complete re flash of the rom and still nothing =(
btw-i dont know too much about flashing,re-flashing,so everything i do is through Rom Manager, dont know if that makes a difference
I have had issues with cm now and then. When i reflash, i do a wipe. If that doesnt work, i let the phone update when its in bootloader which sets up the enginering version of espresso. I then reflash from there and good as new. If that still doesnt work, redownload rom and flash. Occasionally the file may corrupt on the sd card. That has happened to me.

Try turning on bluetooth first then wifi. I read it in one of the CM threads and it works for me. I had the same problem.

I think this is still the trick for any CM based ROM
Well it is only a release candidate. I had major issues on RC1. I am running build 171 of the nightlies, everything is stable more or less. Wifi will occasionally glitch out, but that's partly my router I think. In any case, rebooting the phone or the router normally fixes it.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Well I've asked in the normal thread no one answered. Searched and searched and no answers. I flashed RC1 to my slide and wifi goes like this connecting obtaining Ip address. disconnected. I watch the wifi symbol up top come on and go off like its actually turning off and on. I made sure sleep was never and set it to 14 channels with no differeence. I Wiped everything cashe data dvak still the same. i used clockwork and formated the data cashe and system folders and reinstalled and the same thing. If i go back to an haxspersso i connect and stay on Anyone else have this problem found the solution ?
Same here. It's not working for most of us. A few people claim it's working for them. I'm also having problems with GPS. The compass part works, but it can't find longitude and latitude.
Prepare to get torn up by people for posting in the dev section.
But address the issue, im guessing this is the first cm7 rom you've flashed. If you are the type to stay safe and only flash the stable or release candidates, then you probably dont know about the wifi issues cyanogenmod commonly has. I didnt stay on cm7 rc1 long enough to see if the wifi was broke, but its likely it is. Either wait for a stable release or try that cyanogenmod wifi fix thread i saw floating around in this dev section (though that might only apply to cm6).

Wifi and gps are working for me, I think its about half and half. You just hear about the people who have issues, not the people who don't. A select few slide owners have slightly varied hardware, makes developing for the phone a *****. If you need wifi, I would just go back to 6.1, it's your best bet.

Rebooting fixed it.

I know I don't have 3G or EDGE soo wifi is only me
everything works on my phone...wifi,gps,bluetooth... have you flashed the new radio?
Everything works for me, but I have a question being that CM 7 has apps2sd installed how would one know what apps to put onto the sd card? And should I down the the app from market because it will alert you when you can move an app?
Thanks-
I've figured out what is going on. If i use a standard rom i can connect to my N router just perfect. I have my router set to g-n only i could not connect with CM7. i told my router it was ok to connect at 54 and it connected. got to be the drivers.

You're talking about froyo and up's built in apps2fat. It's not a cm7 feature, it's a built in google feature. It will automatically put some apps on the sd card, but you can move them in the manage applications settings menu.

First of all, go to settings>about phone, and check your baseband version. If it says 7.15 somewhere near the middle, you're good. If it says 7.09 or 7.08 or anything below 7.15, you need to update. Flash this. Or, here is Chiefz_Reloaded's direct download link.
Flash that radio update via clockwork recovery. Make sure that you have good enough battery to last you a good 5 or 10 minutes to be safe. I would say have at least a 15 or 20% charge when you flash this. If it dies in the middle, you're totally screwed, bricked phone. Basically, as long as your phone doesn't die or your battery doesn't somehow fall out, you'll be safe flashing it. Don't sweat it.
Again, you only need to do that if your baseband version has something other than 7.15 in the middle of the string.
My baseband version is 47.63.35.21U_7.15.35.16, perhaps qualify the requirement, but still I experience connection breaks on WiFi, I am on latest nightly CyanogenMod-7-02202011-NIGHTLY-Slide.

Some have issues with wifi, it's a result of the varying Slide mainboard hardware. It will probably be fixed in the final or next release candidate. A lot of people say the old build 19 worked for them, but the build #'s reset shortly after RC1 was released so I don't know where you would find it. Sorry
Bump. Mine was working for a while, but stopped. It actually was bumping off my wifi router at home and I had to reset it everytime I tried to connect the phone. It took me a while to figure out that it was the phone that was doing it. Weird.

Gee thanks for the polite tip. And gee, I hadn't thought of trying that. Or maybe I did and it's still broke. I flashed cm6.1 and it works. Again, thanks for the support.
There's a post floating around regarding a file from 6.1 flashed onto cm 7, but I fixed my issues by making my router only send out b and g signal even if it is n capable. Good luck

Sorry if this has been covered, but I search and didn't find anything (other than flashing the radio), and this is my first attempt to try a different ROM.
I have tried all the CM7's (RC1, and night builds) and I can't seem to get the WIFI to work, I turn it on and it doesn't see any access points and turns off.
BTW: CM6.1.1 WIFI seems to work just fine.
thanks.
Hey man, I had the same issue with my g2 that I purchased a few weeks ago. I've flashed back and forth several times to make sure it wasn't just a bad flash, and even redownloaded cm7 again to ensure it wasn't a bad download of the rom itself. Still I had no wifi at all on cm7. But, like you stated, with cm6.1 everything works perfectly. I've just decided to stick with cm6 now because I like the options to be able to make little tweaks to the status and notification bar as needed. I'm sorry I can't explain why the wifi doesn't work but I know what your experiencing. In many ways cm6 feels more reliable but its also listed as a "stable" rom where as the cm7's are listed as nightlys. I believe they are still trying new things and regularly tweaking the 7 rom so maybe this wifi issue will be fixed when the fully stable release comes out.

I had this problem at first too, but it went away after I rebooted after my first boot into cm7. Haven't had an issue since. So try a reboot and see if that helps.
I also installed with a clear data and cache, so you might try that too.
Hope this helps.

there have been pletny of GPS threads, obviously. but im wondering what you guys did to fix yout GPS on cm7? my gps worked in the past, but recently when i flashed RC4, the GPS stopped working. and i flashed the latest nightly and it is not working as well. i just baffles me because it worked in earlier builds, and you would figure it would work in more stable builds.
so.
what have you guys done to fix your GPS/what nightly are you on?
As an avid Foursquare user I use GPS every day, several times a day, these GPS issues are the main reason I'm still on the stock ROM.
i know what you mean. my GPS works on sense based roms, which is great. im not sure whyyyy its not working on CM7.

First things first: No indicator on notification bar when starting GPS traffic assist application?
Then you are living under a rock or having bad reception. Go outside. Using some kind of widget which uses GPS also and has a on/off switch in it? Try switching off and reboot. It simply should work with the latest nightlies. Try reflashing and fix permissions. Do not wipe your entire phone before flashing.
Doesn't work for me either with RC 2 or RC 4. I've tried some of the fixes out but no joy. I know how to use it and it works fine when I go back to stock. Issue is definitely with my CM 7 install. I'm hoping for a solution soon as this my only issue, but it's a big one for me.

That's right, yours is working fine. If the GPS is "broken", you won't have any activity on GPS Status. No green dots for the satellites on the round display, and no bars on the bar graph below that. Those will be blank, and you never get lat/long coordinates
It's still working for me on RC4, but locking takes about a minute, whereas it was almost instant on stock.
CM7 definitely does something to gps, very weird how everyone is getting different results.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
had problems with gps locking on stock radio with cm 6.1.1 after flashing .27 i get almost instant lock in the house, that did not happen with stock rom or radio.
but my wifes with stock radio and rom did that from the box
both g2
GPS doesn't work at all for me in CM7-RC4 (I mean nothing, no signals or indicators or anything). Works fine in CM6.
I believe I'm currently running the "stock" T-mo OTA radio 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M and haven't tried a different one. Think changing that might help? I don't understand why some people have it working with this radio but not others.
Edit:
OK, I got it working. I had first installed CM7-RC4 using clockwork recovery (in the boot menu) after wiping out the stock ROM. GPS didn't work so I installed CM6 using ROM manager. GPS worked. I then installed CM7-RC4 using ROM manager and voilà, GPS works in CM7-RC4 now. I have no idea what the difference is.
Try .27 worked for me on cm 611 , just flashed the new one, works great, satellites get higher value on GPS test
Sent from my HTC G2 using Tapatalk
Sorry, didn't see your post after mine. I edited mine to show that I got it working simply by downgrading to CM6 then upgrading to CM7. Could be a ROM Manager thing or maybe something left over from how CM6 configured the hardware, or who knows.
I do wish CM7 was more stable though, seems kind of wonky.
I had the same problem with CM7. Download gps.vision.so from either nightly #4 or nightly #34. Open up adb:
adb remount
adb push gps.vision.so /system/lib/hw
adb reboot
GPS should work after that.
Radio .26, CM7 RC4, flashed also the "auto-patcher" that patches files to your ROM based on what radio you have.
