Does anyone know if the facebook app can be modded to say "posted via rooted android" or something like that?

Not that I am aware of. I believe it's something the developers of Facebook coded into their system.

I'm sure this isn't ROM related but the issue I'm having is when I go to leave a comment it doesn't have the comment box on the bottom for me to type or leave a comment. Anyone else? I have cleared the data and its still doing it...

Never had that issue.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling.
is this in the app or in a widget or what?

This is in app
And it only does it if there are no comments... If it has some it functions normal

Ya know what, I just logged in and I'm having the same issue.
You can get around with it by going to the persons page/wall and then selecting the post to reply to.
Honestly, i just use the mobile site for facebook. The App is just not reliable enough. Yeah, i agree just do everything from the beginning. Or DL a different app lik Friendcaster For Facebook.
So I tried to install Facebook on my G2, and it says its not compatible. What?? Ive downloaded facebook before. I running Mimicry 1.5.0 and surely I know the facebook app is compatible with my phone. Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks

Consider it a favor, dont use the facebook app it really slows up and lags our phones. Look into friendcaster.
If you changed your DPI settings it will make the phone incompatible with several apps

Ok that makes sense. I had it at 215 and recently changed it back to 240. It still says incompatible. Got any other solutions?

I hope we are not forced to use this on our phones.
Facebook? Spacebook? Oooo that's that app I deleted from my phone and url I wiped from my brain.

Great! More bloatware to remove from the next firmware update.

You guys know it's just an app right? It will not be forced.

Seems annoying lol.

haha
this looks simply awful
sadly, many family members i know will love this.
I hope it's something that doesn't try and take over your phone's basic functionality. If it's just an App that doesn't do anything until you run it then that's fine with me.

It probably does run in the background on boot, unles you AutoStart it off.
On the stock-based ROMs, there's a background service called "SNS" (IIRC) that has the Facebook logo as its icon. This app probably uses that service. SNS can be safely frozen.

Thanks Skripka, that's good to know. I just got my Note 2 and am relatively new to Android in general. When you say frozen, does that mean disabled?

IIRC, SNS cannot be disabled via Manage Apps....It must be "frozen" (disabled) via a root tool like Titanium Backup.
*I don't for for sure what services this new Faceplant app uses...I'm just guessing. Not on the Faceplant, and not going to join just to find out.
It looks stupid. Why would I want facebook all over my phone? Not really interested in what bob ate, or where janes shopping, or what sally saw on the side of the road yesterday.....

My thoughts exactly lol
I hate how they keep cramming FB and Twitter down our throats. If I wanted to let my friend know that I just took a dump, I'd call him on the phone like normal people.
I am glad to see an even greater number and diversity of apps coming to android, and specifically the Note2. That said, Facebook Home will never have an opportunity to afflict my Note2.
Would be promising if it weren't made by Facebook. The app alone is lucky to still be installed.

Why is everybody attacking this? It's an optional app, no more intrusive than any other app on the market. Download it if you want to give it ago, uninstall it if you don't like it.
Anyone find it in the market yet? The facebook app had an update but when I go to settings and enable facebook home it takes me to Google play and says item not found.

It's in the market but when I try to install it says "not supported in your region". Nek Minnit try the APK that woks on my GSIII, go to install on my Note II "unsupported device" aaarrggghh.
Anyone else get it to run on their N7105?
How do I stop that? I want it opening on Chrome not on its own browser.
On my cellphone Facebook apps still open links on Chrome.
Why don't you just uninstall the Facebook app? You can still use Facebook in the Chrome browser. Additionally, more battery juice can be saved by not having the app installed. Maybe go into the app manager of your device and look for Facebook. Then tap on it and reset the app as default for opening links. If this does not work, see my first suggestion.

I had an iPad a few weeks and the one thing I liked on FB app was that links were opening in FB browser, so for me it's very useful thing but I don't have that on my FB app yet. Are you participating in their alpha/beta testing program?

No, but I notice it's version 15.0.0.9.16 released August 4. My nexus 7 has version 4.4.4.
My note2 has same facebook version but with firmware 4.1.2.

So you're using the beta app. Weird, because I got the beta version too and don't have this thing
I have alpha version 16.0.0.0.8 and links are always opened in Chrome, I never see "Facebook browser".
Can you share screenshot of FB browser?
I'd like to see a screenshot too
Mine does it too. Its annoying to always click "open link in browser" If someone finds a way to bypass this new "feature" let me know. :good:

I've never seen anything like this (on my device).
If I click on link in Facebook, it asked me which app I want to use...
I did not find anything in app settings, so I think this can be changed (maybe) only with Xposed module.
You can ask HERE if someone can make module for this...
In the settings menu inside the app there is a check box for this very question.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...links-with-a-built-in-browser-for-some-users/
And as @scorpiopantera said, there is option to disable it.
I still don't have it, alfa version 17.0.0.0.6

Actually, I have experienced this strange behaviour before. Unfortunately, I don't know the cause. The solution for me was to remove the app and re-install it.
