How do I stop that? I want it opening on Chrome not on its own browser.
On my cellphone Facebook apps still open links on Chrome.
Why don't you just uninstall the Facebook app? You can still use Facebook in the Chrome browser. Additionally, more battery juice can be saved by not having the app installed. Maybe go into the app manager of your device and look for Facebook. Then tap on it and reset the app as default for opening links. If this does not work, see my first suggestion.

I had an iPad a few weeks and the one thing I liked on FB app was that links were opening in FB browser, so for me it's very useful thing but I don't have that on my FB app yet. Are you participating in their alpha/beta testing program?

No, but I notice it's version 15.0.0.9.16 released August 4. My nexus 7 has version 4.4.4.
My note2 has same facebook version but with firmware 4.1.2.

So you're using the beta app. Weird, because I got the beta version too and don't have this thing
I have alpha version 16.0.0.0.8 and links are always opened in Chrome, I never see "Facebook browser".
Can you share screenshot of FB browser?
I'd like to see a screenshot too
Mine does it too. Its annoying to always click "open link in browser" If someone finds a way to bypass this new "feature" let me know. :good:

I've never seen anything like this (on my device).
If I click on link in Facebook, it asked me which app I want to use...
I did not find anything in app settings, so I think this can be changed (maybe) only with Xposed module.
You can ask HERE if someone can make module for this...
In the settings menu inside the app there is a check box for this very question.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...links-with-a-built-in-browser-for-some-users/
And as @scorpiopantera said, there is option to disable it.
I still don't have it, alfa version 17.0.0.0.6

It's available on the Android Marché for ICS devices
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.chrome
APK also available here:
http://min.us/mv2d7nyM6#5o
I assume this doesnt work on any HTC Desire yet right?
I can't get it to work. It does download the page I want to browse, but it doesn't render it. The screen only gets the color of the background of the webpage.
Anyone else got this problem?
I'm using Sandvold's ICS for Desire.
Seems it requires HWA
im downloading it through the mirror. Just tab the grey file symbol and it starts downloading.. to be continued

Ok, didn't work. Just got a popup message on danish: "Der er et problem med at parse pakken."
Quick translation: "There is a problem parsing the package." Just gonna live with the browser that comes with ICS.

woops - thanks - fixed it in OP
Doesn't work here either (dk_zero-cools's CM9 ROM). Loads pages, but doesn't render the contents. Obviously due to lack of HWA
Yeah it is for ICS so untill someone makes a version that will work with other systems it's not worth trying IMO.
No more chrome to phone eventually... I guess.
All the links here seems to link to a corrupt file
here is a working one

Didnt see this post but posted the same in the Themes and app section. It doesnt work for me either. I would love it too, but like everyone is saying its probably due to HWA support.

doesn't work "package file is invalid".
BUT more worrying is that Google just released a new version of the Google+ app and that is giving me the same error "package file is invaid" (no probs with other apps, just those coming from Google)
(Sandavols ICS latest)
I finally found an app that will clear the "Frequently Called" under Contacts in the GN dialer.
Most history cleaners work for pre-ICS only. Previous to this app, one would have to clear data in Contact Storage and re-sync contacts. A pain.
"Frequently Call Disabler Clean" in Google Play works. It requires root.
No relations to developer.
Enjoy...
Very cool. Good find! Does it clear Frequently under the Contacts app too?
Gonna give this a try too. At $0.99, it's worth it to remove the annoying call log. Thanks for the heads up!
Finally an app that works on ICS for this! Thanks for the find!
Worked flawlessly on my Nexus S with ICS 4.0.4 Apex Rom & Matr1x kernel :good:
great app!!!
Can't find apk, can someone upload
in JellyBean can be clear from the menu
now works on Jellybean

Both phone and contacts app have the 'Clear frequents' option. why do you need an app for this ? Does it disable frequents completely ? Does the app do this without "forcing email apps to learn your addressing preferences from scratch."
Yes it disables the frequents list completely. I don't know the answer to the "forcing email apps..." issue though!

I found this popup browser in the app store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ium=organic&utm_term=popup+browser+play+store
It's still in Beta so it's not perfect, but it works pretty well.
Give the developer some time and appreciation and more releases will be announced.
I know a lot of people have been looking for the downloadable popup browser app from the system, but this is the closest I can find without having a custom flashed rom.
If you do know how to have the system's popup browser as an app, please let me know.
If I helped you, give me a thank

The Jellybomb 11.0 rom.

How ironic... here we are on computers with internet browsers that have built-in pop-up blockers and mobile schmucks are trying to install or use pop-up windows. Go figure...

You mis understood.
It's an internet browser that acts as a popup on mobile so yoi don't have to leave your current page, you just popup another browser if you need to do so.
It is not merely a popup with an ad.
It doesnt popup at random times, only when you click the app.

Are serious? ... first of all yes you will leave your current page unless you set "open new tab in background". Second a pop up browser you can use above any app, it's a mini browser, it's nothing like using multiple tabs.

I'm sorry it isn't helpful for you guys.
I find it handy especially if im not in a Web Page, if im in an app or somewhere else on the fun and wanna do a quick search, it's handy.
I guess if you don't appreciate or use it, just don't even say anything, thanks.
And also, system popup browser apk on Macks Rom.

It can play youtube videos, can be resized, etc.
Im sorry you didn't find this helpful, I guess im sorry for wasting your time?
If you wont like or appreciate, just dont even respond lol.
That's also basing it off of multi tasking.
If you dont have multi tasking you should probably get that update

nice update thanks.
Sorry stupid question, what is the difference between Chrome Beta and Chrome?
It's like any other beta software. Newer features yet considered stable. I personally get the beta off the play store.
Another thing is I'll make sure I turn on to submit crash reports and usage stats since the whole purpose of a beta is to bug fix.
And while I'm at it type chrome://flags in it to open up the advanced settings to see if there's anything new they're tinkering with that sounds interesting to enable
Any changelog?

So woke my phone up last night and found a pop up add out of nowhere asking me to unlock an app. Is there an app I can disable to stop this nonsense? No its not from a webpage that I have been viewing.

This is the pop-up. When you click on it, it takes you to Play Store.
I have no idea what is causing this.
"fatser": looks like spam/malware. Have you installed any new apps recently?
Are you using ES File Explorer? Seems that one has been showing ads like this.
Definitely recommend uninstalling it and using FX File Explorer or similar.
Sent from my SM-N930W8 using Tapatalk
I have seen the same one and I am using ESfileExplorer. However, since I installed ADGUARD I have not seen it or any other annoying ads.
That's what I believed was causing the issue. I'll delete and see if the issue goes away.
