I've looked around in the G2 forums and can't find them. I've been using root tools and their selection of easy to install boot screens, but I would like to see other options.
Go and have a lurk round some of the other forums the Desire, Nexus 1, Incredible and EVO forums have some big threads with lots of different boot animations and splash screens.
Just need to remember to not flash anything that is not designed for our phone.

Hey fellow evo enthusiasts!
I've been searching and searching for an answer (I'm sure it's out there, I just haven't found it) to my Q, so hopefully you can help me.
I'm interested in personalizing Sense. I like using widgets, and I like the idea of not using Launcher Pro (I don't know why, I just want to use sense)....
I REALLY like the custom tool bars of Launcher Pro, and I want to incorporate those types of tool bars on Sense (not sure if I'm using the right word - I'm interested in using a custom bar on the bottom of the phone where you can link to your actual phone, text messaging, apps, web, etc).
Can anyone walk me through how to do this?
I'm also interested in creating custom screens with the other 7 options we all have w/ Sense.
All of this seems harder than it should be - I am rooted, currently running Warm 2.2 (release 2). Any help is appreciated - and if you say I gotta use launcher pro, I guess I do.
Thanks in advance!!
Gotta check out the theme forum. They have some tutorials over there that are stickied, I'm not sure if they will tell you how to do exactly what you want, but they sure as hell are good starting points.
......use LauncherPro. There's only so much you can do with sense......plus sense eats the battery and is slower.
It is possible do decompile sense and rewrite it......but it's just not worth it.
There is a thread in the themes section that will allow you flash to remap the the 3 buttons on the expresso.
I've been clicking around all morning trying to figure this out with no luck. I've found a few threads, but they either say to look where I've looked or lack answers altogether.
So. New Droid Incredible II. Not rooted. Running regular ol' sense. I had LauncherPro on my moto Droid, but I want to use the HTC widgets.
I've tried 5 different skins, all for 2.1 sense. I've tried pulling them from my computer to the sd card and downloading directly from the XDA app on the phone. In either case I can easily install them following download.
After installing, they're supposed to pop up under skins in the personalize menu, right? Nothing's showing up there, or anywhere else I've thought to look in that menu. What am I doing wrong?
Look HERE These are updated skins to work with you current setup.
i have had a similar problem and even after installing skins from that forum i have only gotten 4 really rough skins actually to work, i wish i could make them specifically for the DInc2

I have considered making some skins. Mainly to refresh some themes that have been abandoned from my days on the Inc1.
hey, I noticed there are great themes, boot animations, shutdown animations and what not in the themes & apps subforum from dhd.
but there is all crossed together, themes, apps, scripts, pictures, discussions
is there a collection or something? because the only sticky contains 4 themes, and that's not everything as I believe
I KNOW, I can use the search, but they are all called different.
Also I'm about to finish my own boot animation, and wonder if there's any collection where I could add it to
sorry for my bad english
EDIT: I also noticed, there is a splash screen collection http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886467 , this is what I am looking for, but also for other things or maybe could someone open such a thread and let people collect their own and favorite stuff?
All themes will be in the forums started with [theme].
Usually these will contain framework, boot animations etc.
If you want to add your own, start a new thread and start it with [boot animation].
Hope this helps.

Hello,
I am a noob to android coming from wm6.5 and blackberry. I have been browsing the homescreen thread and would like to learn how to get my phone to look as great as the ones i have seen. is there a tutorial available or is it more so trial and error? when i see some of the screen details in the thread, it's like a foreign language to me.
TIA
Steve
Welcome to Android. Its much easier than you think. Some will be trial and error to get something just how you like it. Some is as easy as changing the launcher you use and applying themes. There are also tons of apps like desktop Visualizer, folder organizer, circle launcher, and many more that you can use to customize the look and feel of your device. You can also install different clocks or lockscreens and if you have rooted your phone and flashed a de-odexed rom you can use some of the themes you see posted here. My best advice is for you to look through "post your homescreen" type threads. Most people will list what apps they use and may share icons or wallpapers too. Use Google and Android Market to learn what some of those apps do. Many are free or very inexpensive. You could also look at the sticky posts in this thread, forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=527 for some more about theming. There is really no right or wrong, just do what you like and make your phone your own. Good luck.

Do you have root? Do you have a rom also? Which rom are you running? If you do not have root I recommend using zedomax's v3 root kernal to root.
No, i'm running completely stock for now. I was able to customize my homescreen using go launcher, simple text and WP clock that wil hold me over for a little while. I tried posting an image, but my noon status won't let me.

Are there any alternate spash screens out there? Or is it generally discouraged (not safe) on the Nexus? I was thinking of changing mine. I changed the one I had on my Droid Incredible and always loved that little personal touch. I was thinking of using this one but I wasn't sure about it being horizontal. I know several of the boot animations are horizontal though, so maybe it doesn't matter.
If you're talking about the bootanimation you can and its quite simple....just move bootanimation.zip to system/app using Root Explorer(or any file browser).

Nope. I'm talking about the very boring "Google" black screen that comes up just before the boot animation.
There was a lot of talk about changing the splash screen on these forums as well as on rootzwiki. No one seemed to have a clue of how to do it and it seems like everyone lost interest rather quick. lol. So as of right now it appears to be UN-changeable. I hope someone eventually figures it out though. I've tried digging through framework res files to find the images because I heard that's where they might be and I had no luck.
Well poop....
Kind of an old thread, but I figured I'd reply. I'm unsure exactly where it is located on the gnex, but it wouldn't be in the framework. the splash image loads before the phone boots. This would lead me to believe that it's stored on a partition (probably hidden, in or about the area of the bootloader or radios). There's a pay app on the market made for galaxy nexus devices (seems to be most versions) called Logo Me. If I fail to dig up the relevant information, I'll end up buying the apk, but it is indeed possible. I'm not beyond buying the app, I just haven't given up trying to figure out how to do it by hand, since I used to do it all the time on HTC phones.

Im pretty sure I saw a thread on how to do it earlier today. Either here or in development, and it was a new thread.

Thats a really good way to hard brick your phone. Not worth the risk. Probably one of the few ways you actually could brick this phone.
There's an app called logo me in the play store. There's also a thread buried here in the themes and apps section about it. The app allows you to change the Google logo and the little locked/unlocked lock under it with just a push of a button. Its a paid app though, worth it depending how bad you want to change those images.
