Do the speakers on the lapdock function while the atrix is docked and the lid is closed?
I know that you can dock the phone in this way and use it in clock mode (lapdock closed phone docked) to show photos, videos, play music and work as an alarm. I just haven't heard any info that says the lapdock speakers are used in this scenario.
Thanks.

Does the multimedia dock have a speaker? I ask because my Droid X alarm is really low volume (was late today) so I was wondering if the Multimedia Dock has a speaker to increase the volume of the device while attached?
I used it for a few days but mostly just charging my phone and ease of bedside and there was no speaker.

does it have a 3.5 audio jack out?
i've looked for pictures and i can't find much. i thought i saw a shot that showed the HDMI connection was a normal sized one so it acts as a convertor from mini to normal.
fedex just left a door tag! it could be here today!!!!

micro HDMI. not mini.
and it has the same size HDMI plug as the phone itself. and lacks a 3.5MM headphone jack.
the only benefits you get are
1)it looks good.
2)it automatically puts the phone in 'dock mode'
3)it charges the phone
4)it looks good.
i really wish it had the same capabilities as the dock for the Nexus One.
A2DP bluetooth was fantastic. as was being able to remove the phone from the dock without having to hold the dock down.
So I got my dock today and the build is quite nice! As other posters have said it serves no purpose other than charging and is great as an alarm clock! I also got the hdmi cable with it. My question is, what can I stream to my tv? I know I can do photos and any video I capture with the phone. Can you stream movies? If so how and in what format?

Sadly, no you can't. As of right now you can only stream movies and pictures you've shot yourself. Unless you put a downloaded movie and put it on your phone (But that would be illegal ) You can't even stream blockbuster movies you've purchased/rented. Maybe Moto will fix this in an update or something.
I got the multimedia dock for my office, but I am not using it anymore since I got the Seidio Rugged case. I am just past the 30 day return window so I can't return it. If anyone is interested in buying it let me know.

Nope, and its my understanding that the captivate won't even play audio though a dock anyway. I have the desktop dock sold by Samsung, which has audio port on the back for external speakers. Docking the phone does nothing but charge it!

Theres a speaker icon on the desk home main window. press that icon and audio should now be passed through the audio out
What about something that plugs into the headphone jack as if it was actual headphones but not on your head and just attached to the case to make it look stylish?

You are correct. I hadn't tried desk home for a while, it appears they updated it.
However, only the stock music player will play through the external speakers. Things like doggcatcher, amazon mp3, and audiable still play through the phones speaker. So the dock is still worthless imo.
I don't think there will ever be a dock like your referring to, there are just too many androids out there and the phone is already out dated

I can confirm that the first (the Sony-Ericsson MW600) works well with the E4GT. I have not tried the Jabra BT3030 but it also looks similar to the OP's reference.
From experience, I know that the MW600 has an FM radio which works well, but is quite small so it's less noticeable but has smaller buttons and slightly tricky volume control. The MW600 also attaches with a clip which isn't very heavy-duty, so take that into consideration. It looks like the BT3030 is lacking the FM radio and is larger/more bulky hanging around your neck, but might have easier to use buttons and has the option of not using a clip.
For the price concerned, here's a cheapie that may do the trick:

The bluetooth headset I have (Sony-Ericsson MW600) works well with Google Music (and stock E4GT Music, and Pandora), so I assume the Moto bluetooth headphones would work also.

guys, any review on philips docking speaker? AS 851, AS 351 and AS 111. i'm planning to buy one.
I have the AS140
http://www.jr.com/philips/pe/PHI_AS140/
I can easily say this is the easiest, no-nonsense Android utility I've tried.
Press the power button, connect via Bluetooth, and stream away. Don't even have to dock the phone. I walk around with my phone in my pocket anywhere in my condo/on the porch and it streams flawlessly. Also serves as an alarm clock as well
Sound is decent, not like what you would get with a bigger player but definitely worth the price. Got it on sale at Target for about $59.00 I think
Been using it for weeks now and it's great

if possible...try the dock connection for yourself...I tried it and found it quite flimsy and "not designed well" although it is for all Android devices...so I cant really fault Philips on that...but Im pretty picky when it comes to stuff like that...so best to have a look and try first.
I have the AS351 there's an aux in the back yes.
You can not play your phone without Bluetooth.
The usb is purely for charging only.
Sound quality is pretty good if you don't have anything to compare it to, there's even a little bass to it.

Sorry but this is not possible on android. The apple earbuds use a quite simply process to control ( They short circuit different part of the cable, like mic on left speaker or right speaker) the media is not integrated in android. In CM9 you could control the media with multiple press on the main button (the only button on stock earbuds). But it no longer work in CM10.

That is absolutely incorrect. I still have the earbuds that came with my original Nexus One way back in the day and they still work with my Galaxy Nexus now. They have back, forward, and pause buttons on a little controller the wire.
In fact they work even to pause movies and shows when I'm using MXplayer.

Thanks! I just ordered the HTC ones since there was a Prime Eligible version for it, so it will arrive asap.
My primary need is to rewind / fast forward 10 seconds at a time (ie not previous / next track) for audio books and pocasts in the apps Audible and Smart Audiobook Player. So I hope they work!
Has anyone tried these two apps with these controls?
Thanks again!
