Any earbuds with Android controls? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm looking for inexpensive wired (not Bluetooth) earbuds or headphones that can control music prev/next like the Apple earbuds. Does something like this exist?

Sorry but this is not possible on android. The apple earbuds use a quite simply process to control ( They short circuit different part of the cable, like mic on left speaker or right speaker) the media is not integrated in android. In CM9 you could control the media with multiple press on the main button (the only button on stock earbuds). But it no longer work in CM10.

That is absolutely incorrect. I still have the earbuds that came with my original Nexus One way back in the day and they still work with my Galaxy Nexus now. They have back, forward, and pause buttons on a little controller the wire.
In fact they work even to pause movies and shows when I'm using MXplayer.

Don't get the Nexus One ear buds if you like sound quality. I use Thinksounds myself but no controls on them.

I'm mainly listening to podcasts and audiobooks so quality doesn't really matter to me. As long as I can hear the person's voice, I am happy.

Thanks! I just ordered the HTC ones since there was a Prime Eligible version for it, so it will arrive asap.
My primary need is to rewind / fast forward 10 seconds at a time (ie not previous / next track) for audio books and pocasts in the apps Audible and Smart Audiobook Player. So I hope they work!
Has anyone tried these two apps with these controls?
Thanks again!

Wired stereo headsets that are not earbuds?

My phone (Captivate) came with an earbud style headset with a mic inline so you could answer calls, talk on the phone, and listen to music. Are there any non-earbud (behind-or-over-the-head) style wired headsets like this? All I can find are ones that have two connectors (pink and green, as if for a PC sound card), or wireless bluetooth ones.
You're right I really can't find any wired-stereo-non-earbud-headsets. Here are some that have trade offs.
The following is an over the head/wired/non-earbud, but its not stereo.
http://www.accessorywiz.com/over-th...-headset-headphone-for-samsung-captivate.html
This one is everything you wanted but it's not wired.
http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=219366058&sellerid=19087894
Anyways, Good hunting!
Yes, it is odd that these are not available since there are so many of the earbud type that are. I already have a few bluetooth headsets with input, including one with a boom mic, that work fine but I would prefer a wired one for all-day use.
I found a pair : Sennheiser PX 100-IIi . Although they are made for iDevices, the controls and mic supposedly work with some android phones (I assume the ones with 4 pole connectors). I will soon see. I already have a pair of plain PX100 and they are my favorite wired headphones, so if these work as I hope, they will be great.

Nope - they don't change the volume anyway, but you can use the button to stop and start music as well as answer and hang up the phone.
However, a good set of non-wired headphones that does have full control with volume, starting and stopping music, and talking on the phone, including good voice quality despite not having an external mic, is the Motorola S305 bluetooth headphones. They are not as good as the Sennheisers for music quality, though.

Some of the Samsung Galaxy series - Note, Note 2, Captivate, Skyrocket. Perhaps for some other manufacturer, like Sony, the volume controls would work.
OK, I have a MOTO G, and I have these http://www.meelec.com/MEElectronics_M9P_Earphones_for_iPhone_iPod_p/earphone-m9p-bk-mee.htm and they work. I mean, the controls work like a charm!
I'm guessing it's because it uses the 4 pull jack, so that should mean that the PX 100-2i should work to!

I can confirm that the first (the Sony-Ericsson MW600) works well with the E4GT. I have not tried the Jabra BT3030 but it also looks similar to the OP's reference.
From experience, I know that the MW600 has an FM radio which works well, but is quite small so it's less noticeable but has smaller buttons and slightly tricky volume control. The MW600 also attaches with a clip which isn't very heavy-duty, so take that into consideration. It looks like the BT3030 is lacking the FM radio and is larger/more bulky hanging around your neck, but might have easier to use buttons and has the option of not using a clip.
For the price concerned, here's a cheapie that may do the trick:

The bluetooth headset I have (Sony-Ericsson MW600) works well with Google Music (and stock E4GT Music, and Pandora), so I assume the Moto bluetooth headphones would work also.

Bluetooth Headset?

Which is the best bluetooth headset which works with Galaxy Note? I want one can let me listen to music, talk in the phone and it has buttons to control volume & songs changing. Please kindly suggest some, thanks.
I have the SE MW600, I didn't get my Note yet but I have read in this forum it works well with the note.
A very nice BT headset with Called ID Display as a bonus
I'm using a Blueant T1 (http://www.myblueant.com/products/headsets/t1/) and it works fine with the Note.
I make no claims to how good it is compared to other BT headsets as its the only one I've owned, but it certainly works more than good enough for what I need.
EDIT: Wait, you need song changing too? Cancel the T1... it has volume up/down, and a voice command button (which doubles as accept/end call) but no media buttons.
yes, I need to one change songs with it as well. I want the Bluetooth headset as two side in-ear, I listen to mp3 alot, but the original headset has a cable and it always blocking me, that's why I want a bluetooth one.

so, Sony Ericsson is working for Samsung? How's the sound? I am picky in sound.
Oh well, for me, the sound is pretty good. But I am far from being picky
I have SE MW600, its voice quality is not that good (far end usually complains from low voice). in addition I'm facing trouble with it with me nexus one (It hangs up if I receive a missed call without till I restart it again). I think it's not good with Android as I tested it on non-Android device it worked good
I use the Nokia BH905, which is quite pricy, but the sound quality is excellent and works fine with the Note.

Yea, they do work with the standard music player, never tested it with Spotify, although they ain't seperate buttons (long press next = ff, long press last = rewind.)
Just got the note today and, for me, if works great with the mw600.
Voice quality is great by my standards and track info shows but not caller name.
I have ordered the JayBird Freedom headset. I mainly want to use it for music and audio books. Once I have received it I will provide some feedback on how well it works with the Note.
I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052XQFKE/
It's convertible meaning you can use it in your ear as a typical BT headset, attach the provided stereo headphones for music (includes a mic) or there is also an adapter that allows you to plug in any headphones you want. I drop the BT unit in my shirt pocket while listening to my Bose QC15's. Powers them quite well (9-hour battery life).
Highly recommened, especially since I got them for $10 after rebate.

No music player controls: http://reviews.cnet.com/headsets/samsung-stream-liner-gray/4505-13831_7-34834970.html
I'm a big fan of the Sony Ericsson MW600, but I don't like the slides-volume-thing...
I hope WP7.8/WP8 will soon get an update so all mics/music controls work as they should (or as they do on an iPhone, which has set a standard for lots of accessoires).
Jaybird BT Freedom 3 has excellent sound quality and reasonable battery life (about 5 hours of music). They're also sweatproof, which is nice for running. Check it out.
Cheers

Jays a-JAYS One+ (Want opinions/reviews)

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones.
The a-JAYS One+ look nice, i'm intrigued by the flat cable design.
Official link: http://www.jays.se/products/earphones/a-jays-one-plus.html
Are there any gnexus users that could answer some questions:
-How they hold up in daily usage?
-Does the flat cable (which looks more rigid), twist them out of your ear during movement more easily?
-Do they work without problems? The head phones with with those multi function button designs often don't work well.
-What can the button be used for on the gnexus? Calls? Music? (Play,Stop? or more?)
-I saw there is an extra app for it, whats up with that?
Any one using it with cm9 nightlies on his/her gnexus and can tell me if that works allright?
I'm currently using a pair of Sennheiser CX300, i'm not looking for an upgrade, i just need another pair, but i don't want to downgrade in quality either .
Mine arrived week. So far I like them. The bud sizes are a little wonky. The large is too large, and the size below it is to small.
Bass sounds good
Love the cable
They look good
Remote works perfectly on both cm9 music and Google play music app.
I can play, pause, answer calls, and adjust volume with the button.
Def worth the money.

Do you need their app for the button functions to work?
Does moving/running with the flat cable tend to pull the earbuds out easier than those with a normal cable?

I'm using a set of etymotic headphones designed for iphones and my mic doesn't work either. I think there is a small converter you can plug in between the phone and the headset that should make it work, but I don't need to use the mic and haven't really looked into it.

Same problem. It seems that headphones with the 3 button apple control do not work (mic + buttons except for the center button sometimes) and they don't even allow the phone's microphone to work while plugged in. I have used apple headphones and klipsch image s4i's.
The center button works fine for me. It's the only one that does. Using CM9, not sure if that makes any difference.
I use Klipsch Image S4A
best headphone for me so far
klipsch s4a
I had the intention of picking up the klipsch s4i when i was in bestbuy. The one i never go to happened to have the s4a which i did not know about. I've only had them a few hours but the main issue is finding a working remote, install the klipsch app and you can customize what the buttons do! Amazing headphones once again from klipsch, worth every bit of $45 premium sound and a android compatible remote with mic. I highly recommend them.
