what do I clear if I just wanna flash I new nightly?

If you flash a new nightly, you don't have to wipe anything. You can wipe the cache and dalvik if you want, but you really don't need to.
thank man

Never a problem.
Remember the golden rule: Before flashing "ANYTHING", be sure to wipe at least the cache & dalvik. Doing so can help prevent unnecessary troubleshooting.

I installed my first rom (MIUI) yesterday and everything went well thanks to alot of reading. I like the way it look but i miss Sense. I did a backup before I flashed it so what is the steps to recover the back up with clockwork??

Go back into recovery > backups> restore > choose the one you want. The names of the backups are based on the date you made the nandroid

I won't hurt........I always wipe cache and dalvik cache. Your phone will take a few minutes longer to reboot.....that's about the only drawback.

Not necessary, but it wouldn't hurt anything. Calkulin's Format_All.zip wipes Cache, Userdata, Dalvik, System, and a few others that I'm forgetting. If I remember correctly, it's just a script that tells your recovery to wipe all those things. Like I said before, I like to use it if I'm ever changing ROM "brands" (ie going from MIUI to CM7, or From Myn's to CM7, etc.) because the systems are usually significantly different
i believe wiping before doing anything regardless its restoring or flashing a new rom is the way to go with Calkulin's format all and his clear temp. just in case it misses something. but thats just my opinion =)
What is recommended when flashing mods on roms I've heard wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache, or do I wipe both. Thanks

my doubt comes from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863052
the last post on page 1 make by ganesbiyer himself, links us to the StatusBarTogglesWithBatMod-v2-HDPI.zip
that he made...
I install the zip and it and it says complete
but when i reboot, it is not there
Am i supposed to wipe the cache and dalvic like i did after the initial deodex?
I usually wipe cache and dalvik cache, and then flash and fix permissions afterwards.

So when is it best time to wipe before or after flashing a modem?? just would like to be sure b4 I flash the latest radios
Thanks
Michael.
Just flash em through Rom manager. It will have wipe dalvik cache ticked. I always run Cachemate and fast reboot after.

Before and After don't hurt

Don't wipe anything for a modem flash. Totally unnecessary.
Hello all,
So I'm running Scott's CleanROM AT&T SE 1.5. I want to install the latest version of CleanROM ACE onto my phone now.
This was my first custom ROM install, so I've never switched ROMs like this before. My question is do I need to do anything special to flash ACE, or can I just do it through TWRP like I did last time (from stock to CleanROM)?
Any help is appreciated!

You do it through twrp like you did before. You will need to backup anything you don't wanna lose. I use titanium backup to backup my apps, apps data and texts. You will need to clean flash coming from what you are.

Read the OP (Original Post) for the directions on how you should flash the rom. Read read read.
Clean flash means clearing all data of previous rom. You wipe cache, wipe data, and wipe dalvik in recovery.

Yes, read alot. If you are asking these kinds of questions you need to read up more. Search on here. Look on YouTube, there are plenty of videos

Thank you both very much. I'll do some more research and look around.

Download the updated cleanrom to your external sd card
Boot into recovery and do a nand backup
Wipe cache, dalvik cache, and data 3 times each (its easy if you go under "advanced" tab in wipe and it let's you select all 3 to wipe at once, then do that 3 times)
Click on install tab and navigate to the rom zip and flash away.
You shod be in familiar waters now.
