Hi guys and gals,
When I wanna seek for music while screen is off, I can use the volume buttons for that, but.. it also changes the media volume and the screen becomes on. I use cm7 and PowerAMP, any ideas ? thanks..
Is there any way how-to disable volume buttons while screen is off, and let them only enable by long pressing.. and screen should stay off as well
okay.. now solved by myself after editing system kb, anyway thanks

Hello,
Not sure if this is something at all possible BUT I have a mount in my car for my HD and connect my phone to the stereo. Now, if I am driving and the screen goes to 'Sleep' mode, it can be kind of cumbersome to turn the screen back on just to change a track.
I was wondering if it was at all possible to put a code in place for the buttons that WHEN the screen goes to sleep and IF Windows Media Player is playing for example, that the volume keys can change tracks up or down instead of the volume?
I know someone will say 'well just turn sleep mode off' but this is not something I want to do.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, you could use AE Button Plus to map the Volume Rocker to up/down arrows, then slide to the music tab in TF3D, play the muisc and set screen display off.
To play next/prev song, just press the rocker key once.
Hi, is there any ways to change the track by holding or tapping the volume buttons(instead of turning on the phone and everything)?
I also use headphones w/ controls but everytime I press the button, it either pauses or plays the music and if I double press, it redials. Is there a way to fix that too?
Thanks in advance.

This will be implemented in CyanogenMod 6 I believe. With the screen off, you can hold the volume key down and it will skip forward or backward depending on which key you are pressing.
Thanks for the reply!
Hi all,
Does anyone know a way to assign the buttons below the screen to a function, while the screen is off? The volume button is also useable, even when the screen is turned off. I would like to assign previous track and next track to some buttons, so I don't have to turn anything on to skip a track.
I know I can use the music control which is in the headset that is shipped with the phone, but I like to find out the options here.
Thanks for your input.
Hi all,
I think it is a good idea!
On my old Sony-E. you could change titles by keeping vol.-up pressed for 2 sec.
I haven't read about something similar on Android yet.
I am sorry if I missed this topic.
Thx!
Re:
Keeping the volume button up/down pressed changes tracks too in the custom roms that I've tried (OpenDesire, Cyanogenmod). Not sure if it's a froyo feature or a custom implementation though since I've never had the original froyo on my phone.
[EDIT]
Looks like a custom addition. Just saw the line "Common: Long press volume buttons to skip songs - Jon Boekenoogen" in the cyanogenmod changelog.
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew a way to lock the volume rocker while the screen is locked. For instance, while I play podcasts, the phone is in my pocket. I accidentally hit the volume down, and have to remove the phone to turn it back up. Very annoying! A way to disable the volume rocker while the screen is off would be great. Many thanks!
Is anyone else genuinely annoyed with the fact there is no volume lock option on this device? When I want to lower the volume with the rocker on say the lock screen, only the ringer volume goes down, and I have to click the gear icon to manually adjust the volume for the notificatons/media/etc.
I know there are manual volume profile apps/widgets out there, but maybe I'm just old school and want to use the rocker to adjust my volume down for all possible audio output at once.
Any workarounds known out there?
