Can't stop repeating notification for email. Please help! - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway to stop repeating notifications for an email alert? (not Gmail....the standard email app). I have my work email set up and when I receive an email through the standard email app the notification sound will repeat about every 10 minutes until I clear it. The only notification options I see in this app are to turn notifications on or off, select the sound and add vibration. Am I going to have to turn off notifications of completely to eliminate it from repeating? I hope not...I like to know when I receive a work email.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Try force closing the app and clearing the cache from manage applications in settings.

It's not allowing me to do either.

Vibration alert for text help!!!

Hi All,
I am posting this reluctantly after struggling for 2 months
If I change phone to vibrate, I never get any vibration notifications for text or calander reminders even after vibration being selected?
Can anybody please help?
Thanks
Anybody!!!
Do you have Vibration turned ON directly in both sms application and the calendar?
Or did you only change the phone profile to vibrate?
get a free app called sound manager and goto the virbation menu settings and make sure it is turned on in there. This fixed it for me
Gr8
The sound manager app solved the problem
Thanks guys

Yepp same problem I had, Froyo has fixed this by adding vibration option for SMS/e-mail/etc only in Vibrate mode

How to wake the screen up when u receive an email?

Hi guys,
Is there an apparently out there or some sort of a tweak to wake the screen up when u receive an email. A pop up notification of some sort basically.
I'd appreciate if someone can give me some info on this.

by default i dont think its possible to wake the screen up when you receive an email as it doesnt seem very useful as the screen uses far more power than say a notificatin, sound or vibration. These three can be configured in mail setting, from the android market and appbrain there doesnt seem to be a good app for email wakeup (apart from gmail) but there is for sms.
I am not too sure if the tasker app can do this, i am unaware of any tweaks which can do the screen wake up trigger.
there is this
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-blntsoft-emailpopup-zApp.aspx
but it only works with k9 mail
thanks guys, I will give it a shot to the app you mentioned.

Go into the messaging app settings and change the vibration from "never" to "always"
on the email, the gmail app should automatically have the notification, but try going into the settings for that. see what you find.

go into gmail app settings click on your email and it'll bring up the settings for notifications, same with messaging its in settings. I was going crazy over the same thing as soon as i switched over until I'd read that JB changed how notifications act so now every app has to be coded to vibrate on its own as opposed to having a system wide setting.

well I like it better this way since in theory it lets you have more control over the vibrate notifications of a lot of apps. The only issue is that a lot of the apps have yet to be optimized for JB.

The messaging app provides these three options for when to vibrate:
- Always
- Only when silent
- Never
Are there any apps or hacks that could enable the following behavior?
- If I set the phone to vibrate (using side buttons), the phone vibrates when I get a text message.
- If I set the phone to silent, the phone doesn't vibrate when I get a text message.
The only two situations I care about are Silent and Vibrate. I never ever use a regular ringer.

screen turns on when getting a text

I hate hate hate hate this so much. It drains my battery since i receive a lot of text.
Any way to disable this without turning off notification all together or using a 3rd party app?
Go into messaging setting and uncheck where it said "show a preview of the message in the status bar"..

That is unchecked.
The items that are checked off are
Notifications and Spam settings.
I am going to try unchecking spam settings. Now i gotta wait to receive a text.
let me know if that workds 'cuz i hate my screen waking up as well
damn no luck. Was at a bar last night drinking and text myself from and to a S3.
Screen turns on everytime.
On another note that i may make a thread to ask if i can't get an answer. When you compose a email in the email client. Does the font increase? Is there a way to decrease it?

You can only turn off the screen wakeup if you use a SMS app like handcent or gosms pro. Not the ideal solution but it works. I hate using apps that duplicate functionality I already have, but had to in this case.

No notifications when the phone screen is off

Hello,
As the title says, I'm having a problem with notifications when the screen is off.
I'm not getting notifications from Yahoo Mail, unless the screen is turned on...and I do get them ONLY if the app is opened.
I had Asus Zenfone 2 before this and I'm used to always closing my apps after using them by using the "Recent apps" button.
Even if I closed all the apps, i would still receive notifications from Yahoo Mail and Skype.
But now things happen like this: if the app is closed, I'm not getting any notifications.
If the app is left open, I get nofications only if the screen is on, if it's off, I get notifications for a while, but if for example I try
to send test e-mail after like 30-40 minutes from my Gmail account, I won't get the notification.
The Auto Manager is set to Allow on Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Mail is also set to Not Optimized in the Battery settings.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix this? I can live without notifications if needed, but I'd rather have them working.
Thank you in advance.
