Hi guys,
Is there an apparently out there or some sort of a tweak to wake the screen up when u receive an email. A pop up notification of some sort basically.
I'd appreciate if someone can give me some info on this.

by default i dont think its possible to wake the screen up when you receive an email as it doesnt seem very useful as the screen uses far more power than say a notificatin, sound or vibration. These three can be configured in mail setting, from the android market and appbrain there doesnt seem to be a good app for email wakeup (apart from gmail) but there is for sms.
I am not too sure if the tasker app can do this, i am unaware of any tweaks which can do the screen wake up trigger.
there is this
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-blntsoft-emailpopup-zApp.aspx
but it only works with k9 mail
thanks guys, I will give it a shot to the app you mentioned.

Is it possible for the screen to wake up when you receive an e-mail or an SMS instead of just the ringtone you hear or the led?
When I used to have an iPhone, there was an app called push notification and it'd pop up a small version of your e-mail or your sms on your screen even when your phone was in the screen lock mode/sleep mode.
Anyways, just wondering if there is a way for this kind of stuff.
Thanks
Try Handcent.
or ChompSMS.
yea. handcent got option to hv pop up notification juz like iphone.. and u can choose to dim brightness or not when received sms.
oh ya, btw, nxt time pls do not anyhow start any thread in developement.. do it in general if u are asking qn..
thanks guys. I will definitely ask it in general. I just thought there might be a tweak for rooted phones for these features to become available, that's why I posted it here.
Anyways, really thanks for the responses. What about for the e-mail notifications? Anything for that?
Thnx again
Is there anyway to stop repeating notifications for an email alert? (not Gmail....the standard email app). I have my work email set up and when I receive an email through the standard email app the notification sound will repeat about every 10 minutes until I clear it. The only notification options I see in this app are to turn notifications on or off, select the sound and add vibration. Am I going to have to turn off notifications of completely to eliminate it from repeating? I hope not...I like to know when I receive a work email.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Try force closing the app and clearing the cache from manage applications in settings.

It's not allowing me to do either.
I tried searching xda and google and haven't found an answer to this question.
I'm using BLN to make the soft keys flash and that works great, but I'd like it if the screen didn't come on at all when I'm receiving notifications.
Is there an app/tool I can use to turn that off?
Thanks
This has been covered many times but I can see how it would be difficult to search.
The solution is to either use third party texting app (like hand cent) to circumvent the auto screen on or you can do what I did if you want to use stock messaging app and download "SMS popup" from the market, disable stock messaging notifications in settings in your messaging app and setting up your desired notifications through SMS popup instead making sure to disable "screen on for text" feature and any other features you will not be using (I. E. The actual pop up feature)
Also remember to enable led light notification in order to activate bln.
With this method you also will have the added ability to set custom notification tones for specific contacts =]
Please hit thanks if I have helped you!

Ah, yeah I did see someone saying they use handsent. I was looking for a less complicated solution (ie, just turning off the screen wake lol).
I'll try that for now. Thanks
Edit ***Just put on sms popup, and that's the perfect solution. I really wanted to avoid handsent as I don't like that application, and also my current ROM won't allow me to change the stock SMS icon on the main screen (Juggernaut 5.0)
That was the last step I needed and now I finally have my phone perfectly the way I wanted it
any way to wake up the phone (turn on the light for 5 seconds)
on any notification from email, whatsapp, sms, etc...
app or setting ?
On the ICS ROM I'm running it gives the option to wake the screen under message settings when an sms is recieved. Not sure about gmail and other apps.
for sms i found an app but I'm not using sms as much as email and whatsapp
You are looking for the BLN mod (button light notification). Try searching for it, I know to enable it, it must be enabled in the kernal.
Not sure if you are just looking for a simple application for waking up the screen, but there is an application that can display notification as well as setting that can wake up your screen. It's called NotifierPro. A lil' bit like Notification Centre in iOS. Here, take a look at it.

I'll give it a try - EDIT: does the work but unlock the screen too :\
-BLN mod is just for the keys to light up i meant to wake up the phone to lock screen
The application's new update adds up wakelock, with an option to unlock the phone and wake timeout. Give it another try.

Hello,
As the title says, I'm having a problem with notifications when the screen is off.
I'm not getting notifications from Yahoo Mail, unless the screen is turned on...and I do get them ONLY if the app is opened.
I had Asus Zenfone 2 before this and I'm used to always closing my apps after using them by using the "Recent apps" button.
Even if I closed all the apps, i would still receive notifications from Yahoo Mail and Skype.
But now things happen like this: if the app is closed, I'm not getting any notifications.
If the app is left open, I get nofications only if the screen is on, if it's off, I get notifications for a while, but if for example I try
to send test e-mail after like 30-40 minutes from my Gmail account, I won't get the notification.
The Auto Manager is set to Allow on Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Mail is also set to Not Optimized in the Battery settings.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix this? I can live without notifications if needed, but I'd rather have them working.
Thank you in advance.
