Dualboot for Android? Not just WM? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to boot up WM with my Verizon device?
I once had an iPhone on AT&T and I found a great dev who was actually rebuilding the iPhone as a Windows OS.
I love the feel of the Windows OS. Always have, always will.
My question: Does the Gen.Y swing both ways? Or is there a boot loader out there that works the same?

Google showed lots of results.... He's one of the many XDA links:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/rundroid-dual-boot-to-android-sd-or-windows-mobile-6/

That's just for the Windows phone.
I'm looking for boot loader that loads WM7 ON an Android device such as my dinc.
Is there such a thing?

No it is not possible. Sorry.

it's not possible bc of a licensing issue. Android is open source so you can run it on anything as long as you put the time into development. Windows is only licensed to run on WM phones but WM phones can run Android bc Android is open source.

[Q] Dual Boot Windows Mobile on Android?

Just a question for grins! I know the HD2 can dual boot Windows and Android but can the Evo dual boot Windows as well? I just think it would be something to check off my list to do for the heck of it even though Android is far better than Windows.
search, and ye shall be informed.
NO. android is open source, which is why it can be ported to a winmo phone. windows is NOT open source, and so it cannot be ported back.
Ahh! Makes sense. Thanks for the info.

There was a project to port WP7, but I think it died
If I remember right, you can run Ubuntu through a virtual machine or something of the sort. Windows Phone 7 project died because of trolling and lack of support and was earlier stunted by the fact that there were only GSM phones at first.

[Q] Dualboot?

Is it possible to have a Galaxy nexus and dualboot it with windows 7.5?
Thanks
I'm not going to say anything is impossible... but no. Not easily at least.
Even if you could get it on there drivers would probably be a big issue. It would take a lot of development to get things working properly. You'd have a lot of obstacles to overcome as well such as the lack of physical buttons.
Good luck

Nope.
Even if you somehow got it running it would still be illegal.
And to even try you would need the source code.
It simply won't happen.

WP7 is closed source. Not gonna happen.
Buy a Windows Phone
And I am willing to be op wants this just so he can show his friends and the only effort put into it was getting on the internet. Drivers, ram, code, and development would be only the smallest of obstacles if downloading and flashing it were your goals. The windows phone can be had over there.

I'll wait for windows 8. Windows phone 7 is just a temporary solution from microsoft to stop apple and android from dominating the market. No doubt it is decent but it's still in its infancy and doesn't have a lot of apps.

Yeah that sure worked out for Microsoft. They sure took away that 1% of market share. They should be proud.

Depending on how tech savvy your friends are just download a windows phone launcher and claim that you developed a new type of hybrid device, its worked for me before lol

yeah well they tried and failed. even the director of wp7 developtment admitted defeat a few months ago . Personally I think it is a very decent platform. I really like its elagant user interface but if I just wanted ui I would've stayed with ios.
The reason wp7 didn't take off was because it was too late and there was no demand for it, not because it sucked.
I have dual boot Mango and ICS on my HD2.
Believe me, WP7.5 has a beautiful layout and the best keyboard, but besides that it's way inferior when compared to Android and iOS. Very lame browser and the apps have less options. It's fun to play with for a day, but more than that you'll get really frustrated.

Do you mean you have Mango like that browser demo? Or it's only on that phone that can do it?

The HD2 is a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone that you can install Mango on and dual boot into Android since other Android phones are very similar to.

Adding to what he said, since the hd2 already had windows on it it allowed It to be easier to port it onto, I think test builds where also made for it too. And since android is open source it was easy to port over( not really but easy for a dev). You'd have better luck buying a windows phone and dual booting that with android

[Q] Will there ever be a WP7 rom for this phone?

Android is good and all, but I'd like to play with WP7 on my phone, if it's possible. Are there any developers working on it?
Not that I know of. It would be a very difficult task with a completely new code base and matching the hardware drivers with it. But maybe there are brave souls attempting it. Unfortunately our device is not a popular one like htc hd2, which has all sorts of operating systems ported. So my guess is we will not see it.

Q. Hacking with one X. Is it possible?

I am a N900 user for the past 2yrs. Maemo OS is great. Its openness is its best feature. I play games and use apps in NITDROID- an android port in N900. Maemo is not the best in apps thats why i use NITDROID. But its the best when it comes to hacking. I wanna buy HOX so i just wanna know that whether its possible to do such things with an android smartphone. The things i can do with My N900 are:
1) WEP & WPA hacking with aircracg-ng
2) MITM attcak. Arpspoof, driftnet, dnspoof etc.
3) MDK3
Are this possible in android. Sorry for being such a noob. I never used a pure android device. Always used this android port on my N900. I will miss all these things when i buy a phone. FYI - the hacking i do is purely safe and never intended to harm anyone. Only for testing

Not sure but you can emulate a Terminal if your phone is rooted through apps like "Terminal Emulator" etc... Anyway i'm pretty sure monitor is not natively supported for some reasons.
Recently, a team of researchers released a script (or sort of) which alllows you to run your phone in monitor mode. Yet it's only available for some chipset like the one in the Samsung Galaxy SII or the Nexus One.
