Message Icon on Launch Bar - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to remove the stock message Icon from the launch bar if I use a different message app? Or will it link to whatever app I have as default?
Thanks for the help.

Go into settings of the stock messaging app and turn off notifications. You will then only get the notification for the 3rd party app.

go into the app drawer, hit the menu capacitive button, click edit, then you should be able to drag it out of the launcher bar and drag whatever you want in its place

I would do this also so you don't get double notifications

Also turn off Auto Retrieve while you're in there.

Cyanogen notification bar widgets replace with app shortcut

Hi
I was wondering if it's possible to replace the widgets in the notification bar with an app shortcut. I really like using "quick settings" and would like to access it while inside an app.

try a custom rom from the dev section. most of them have that function disabled. You will also still get your regular notification which is better than turning off your notifications
Use the AOSP messaging app

In sms application you can pinch to zoom on keyboard to toggle on handed on and off... That's for sms app

I think that if you pinch to zoom on stock keyboard in any app it will toggle between one handed and full sized

[INFO] Stock Messaging Settings (disable SMS wake/ add Signature)

I've seen many questions and request for mods to disable the stock sms wake/ sms notification preview. I just recently stumbled (duh) over the settings menu in the default app to disable it. It also gives us many other options as well. Info and pictures below.
Path: Open stock Samsung messaging app (don't click a thread) --> Menu --> Settings
Options:
Bubble Style
Background Style (custom pictures!)
Delivery Reports
Remove Notifications
Add Signature
Any many more.
Pretty basic stuff, but figured it was worth a thread as this is commonly overlooked...
Awesome Thank you!
But which setting prevents the screen from turning on when a message is received?
(yet still produces a sound and lights notification LED)

Just untick the notifications box. You won't receive any notifications from the stock messaging app.
I think you missed his point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think people want to know how to disable the screen wake upon receipt of a SMS message via stock messanger.

I don't think you can do it in stock app but free app - go sms pro - can do it.

That's rude . I don't see how it's misleading as it can help some. Plus, there is other stuff here that can help Ppl out. take this post for what it is then move on.

Un checking the notification button will disable all including the led light and screen wake.

This is a reason why I use third party app. No screen wakeup but I preset led to blink very fast and in specific color.

Lockscreen Notification

Is their anyway to disable the stock notification on the lockscreen so that I can try some from the Play Store?

Go to message app, settings, and deselect show preview
It still shows a message thing on the lockscreen, it just doesn't show the contents of the message
