[INFO] Stock Messaging Settings (disable SMS wake/ add Signature) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've seen many questions and request for mods to disable the stock sms wake/ sms notification preview. I just recently stumbled (duh) over the settings menu in the default app to disable it. It also gives us many other options as well. Info and pictures below.
Path: Open stock Samsung messaging app (don't click a thread) --> Menu --> Settings
Options:
Bubble Style
Background Style (custom pictures!)
Delivery Reports
Remove Notifications
Add Signature
Any many more.
Pretty basic stuff, but figured it was worth a thread as this is commonly overlooked...

Awesome Thank you!

But which setting prevents the screen from turning on when a message is received?
(yet still produces a sound and lights notification LED)

Just untick the notifications box. You won't receive any notifications from the stock messaging app.

I think you missed his point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think people want to know how to disable the screen wake upon receipt of a SMS message via stock messanger.

I don't think you can do it in stock app but free app - go sms pro - can do it.

Is there a no thanks button that can subtract thanks away?

That's rude . I don't see how it's misleading as it can help some. Plus, there is other stuff here that can help Ppl out. take this post for what it is then move on.

Un checking the notification button will disable all including the led light and screen wake.

This is a reason why I use third party app. No screen wakeup but I preset led to blink very fast and in specific color.

Q. LED Notification for text vm etc.

I was wondering if there was a way to make the bottom keys (search, home back and menu) to light up when receiving a text? I've seen this in past roms for the g2x was wondering if it was done for gs2. Any feedback would help thanks!
There's an app called BLN... you'll need a supporting kernel to be able to use it.

You can try noled from the market. I use that app and its awesome

Thanks! BLN seemed to be what I was looking for. Sometimes it stops working and I have to turn my phone off and on. Anyone know a way to stop this problem?
Is there a way to just make one of the soft buttons light up for notifications?

Phone auto on when text

Is there a way to not have my phone turn on when i receive a text ? Ive looked throughout the settings and have yet to find a way cause thats just a battery killer
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Under your messages click menu then scroll to notifications and un tick however you won't get any notifications if a incoming text
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
try a custom rom from the dev section. most of them have that function disabled. You will also still get your regular notification which is better than turning off your notifications
Use the AOSP messaging app

Yup^^ smspopup. Ive used it before and worked great.
sms popup, what are differents from it and quick reply options build-in in most of ASOP rom?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Sorry I'm think you guys have misunderstood my questions. I have Sms pop up but when I turn it on the Sms notification in the lock screen goes away. I was wondering if there was a way to use Sms pop up app along with the long screen circle notification where you can swipe to go straight to the message.

Shorten vibration for notifications

Anyone know how to make the vibrate shorter for things like sms without a separate sms app?
The whole vibrate for 4 seconds every time a message comes in is ridiculous. What a battery kill.

You have a custom vibration maker pre installed on your gn2

Yup, there are several presets as well as intensity settings and the option to bind with ring and to turn it off. Settings - sound

the vibration settings is only for calls. notifications always have the long vibration no matter which setting you select. i've read that light flow will do it but haven't tried it myself.

This reply was the only one related to my problem. I am stock rom no other custom apps for notifications. I wasnt talking about calls either. Just text/sms vibrations

Note 3 text msg on lockscreen

Hi just got my note 3, and I would like to ask my fellow xda members if they know how to access the text msg received from the lockscreen. Like on my note 2 I can just swipe the msg (envelope icon) fromthe lockscreen and it will directly open the text msg. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah. Not sure why they are adding more useless features and removing the ones people actually used.

That sucks, the one that note 2 has is better easy access. Even the favorite contacts widget is gone.

I tried double tapping on the lockscreen when a msg arrives and it works, but its a hit and miss thing.

I use a passcode. When I get a message, I click on it and enter my passcode and it opens.

Here's what you do, when you get message or call put your finger on it and slide down than you will see a white box surrounding a square then click on the message and it will go ..it's the same thing you do with your clock widget to show the weather on the lock screen

Oh I see. I'm using pattern so I can't do that. I can't see an option to swipe then enter a pattern to unlock. I had that in my S3 with shortcuts on the lock screen.

settings> device> lockscreen>turn on personal message>inside personal message select edit personal message. There are two boxes that you uncheck to remove the clock and the date from the lockscreen. Hope this helps.
I tried this but it didnt work for me, tried skiding down the msg and I does nothing

The thing about the the new message on the lockscreen is you can do the same thing by just swiping down on your notification bar and clicking on the message from there.
This is so redundant and useless.
