I noticed this earlier today and it's driving me NUTS!! Various system sounds (so far I've found the dialing tone, lock/unlock click, and default keyboard sounds) all of a sudden are practically inaudible. I can hear them but only if I hold the speaker up to my ear while dialing, typing, etc. All volume levels are turned up all the way like I always have them, what gives?!? I'm very confused by this...
Possibly blown speakers? Have you tried music?
Swyped from my sexy EVO.
are you sure your system volume is up? You can check it with Audio Manager.
Uhh yeah like I said, all volume levels are ALL the way up.
Nope not blown as ringtones, etc. come through the speaker just fine.
You running stock? Try a reset/clean flash?
Yes everything is stock and I'm trying to avoid the obvious (resetting the phone)
Are all of these things y'all have suggested not obvious to the average user? I don't mean to be rude in the least but I always try several things to fix an issue before I seek out help...

haha. you may be surprised sometimes Always got to cover all the bases.
I have no idea what's causing you issues, but I experience something sort of simlar, and have yet to figure it out. I don't use any audio feedback or lockscreen unlock sounds or anything like that. My ringer and notifications always work fine. The thing for me that is odd, is my boot animation sound. No matter what sound I use, it plays halfway through EXTREMELY loud, and then it suddenly cuts to about 1/3 the volume that it started playing at. It's random, and doesn't happen every time, but definitely enough for me to notice. I have no idea what causes it, but wouldn't be surprised if it's the same type of issue.
Download an app called audio manager. Your system volume got stuck down and won't go up without that type of app, since we cannot change it in settings.

+1 same thing happened to me and that was the only way i could fix it
AudioManager allows you to change the system sound settings, which is otherwise impossible via the standard Android interface. That solved my problem.
It has done it for a while with any ROM, the screen backlight will go on, and the button lights will go on but the screen picture doesn't show half the time when I unlock it. I can still touch the screen though and it works, but obviously I can't see what I'm doing! This is frustrating and could be terrible in an emergency... What should I do?
Also, when my headphones are in, and the phone detects it as a headset, it will spasm out by turning on voice search, and ringing people repeatedly until I unplug them, it also changes song too on any music app. Any way round this one too?
Thanks
Did you underclock?

Which rom are you using, custom or stock...We will need more details as it can be a setup issue...
Using LeeDroid, but its done the same with Android Revolution and I think MIUI too. I think it could be something to do with the CRT animation but I'm not 100% sure
Edit: I have turned off the animation and the problem is still there
Hi guys, I'm having a problem with my xperia play when trying to record conferences.
My camera stops after 10 minutes of recording everytime, it even shows the timer backwards when it's the last minute, I was wondering if there is any way to lift this limitation.
I'm currently using the default camera application that comes with 2.3.4 North America generic ROM.
I got a 12GB memory card with around 3.2GB free and the video files take up to 400mb per 10 minutes, so the space shouldn't be a problem here.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Maybe your phones is going to sleep?
Have you tried disabling sleep timeout?

Hmm I wasn't aware that the phone had a sleep option, I can't seem to find it. Only time outs I could find if the screen display which is set to 30 seconds, so I guess that's not it.
Where can I find the options to disable the phone from sleeping?
Thanks.
Actually thats probably what I was thinking.
One thing you could try, when it gets close to 10 minutes, push a button on your phone, nothing to make it stop recording, maybe the settings button, just something to make sure it isn't a problem like this.

I did that and the phone responded perfectly, even changed some options while recording but it still stops at 10 minutes. The strange thing is when it gets to minute nine the counter changes backwards to count 1 minute in red numbers then it stops recording.
Maybe try a different phone app?

Good day.
Like the title says, occasionally I get a TV noise effect, the time I unlock my phone. Not life breaking, but does bug me, to be honest. At first, I thought it was related to the "Screen On/Off" animation, but enabling/disabling it didn't help anyhow. Any advice how to get rid of it?
Didn't find any info on the web regarding this, so came here to ask.
My specifications:
CM 7.1.0.1
HCDR.Kernel v4.2
HBoot - 6.01.1002
Radio - 3.35.19.25
S-OFF
Hmm... Is this with the phone set to silent/vibrate or ring?

With the default profile, when sound is on. The TV effect lasts less than a second, just before the lockscreen appears and it seems to occur, when the phone has been lying around for a while, like the first unlock in several minutes/hours.
Also, I have a "Launcher Pro Plus" and "LunarUI Black" theme installed, if that helps.

Does it still make the sound if you put it on silent? I don't think the launcher/theme have anything to do with this, but try another launcher/theme and see if that fixes it.

I think you misunderstood me. It's not related to the sound. I get a screen noise, like you know, on those old TVs, when the TV lost the signal.

Yeah, I know, it's the default sound for the Screen On/Off animation. Which means it is related to the sound. However, why you still get it when you have the animation turned off is a mystery. Did you follow any of the advice I gave you?
After playing around with the launcher/theme, nothing happened. So, a few days ago I replaced the kernel again, from "HCDR.Kernel v4.2" back to "InfinityPLAY v10". And the screen noise is gone!

Well, at any rate, it fixed the issue. Glad to know it's stopped causing trouble!
Anyone come up with a volume hack for headphones? On the g2 you could edit the mixerpaths file. Im rooted without twrp and tried that and got stuck in a nice bootloop and had to push the stock rom thru adb to get back up. Once i get twrp i can run thru some settings. Just wondering if anyone else is bummed out by this low volume.
I can say my phone don't need volume boost. Phone sounds great. Have to turn it down. Sounds way better than note 3
The speaker is fine. Although I wish it could go up by one or two when I'm listening through headphones.

Ooops yea edited my post to reflect that im talking about headphone volume.
I had a chance to play YouTube on G3 through speaker.
The speaker is nice if it's not louder than S3.
I'll take a crack at it. I'm at work now but ill see if i can figure it out in the am

Partially hijacking this thread, but does anybody know if there's a hidden way to disable the safe volume warning every time I plug in my headset? This is the most annoying thing on this phone, especially if I do a quick travel to n from lunch and work, I have to keep pressing the volume button again n again. I know most likely it's baked into the ROM, but maybe someone knows something.
OP, you sure this is not the problem you're facing? At first I thought I had gone all the way on the volume, but I realized I had to press it again to boost the volume to the max.

Nah I wish. I just like really loud music. The phone is capable of doing much higher levels with a few slight tweaks. I'm sure for most its loud enough.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but, G3 Tweaksbox has this option. It is under sound tweaks. Then check "Disable Safety Headset Volume"

Viper4Android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
1. Download & extract the version for android 4.4, then install it
2. Open Viper4Android, choose quality, let it install the special driver and allow root. You may need to update busybox, it will prompt you if necessary.
3. Reboot
4. Open V4A, press the 3 dots at top right, change UI to "Moderate"
5. Swipe to "Headphone" tab, enable master power & playback gain control, scroll to bottom of page, change output gain to +0.8 or +1.6

Just make sure you fix permissions and all will be well.

I tried the V4A version and I must say it did make a bit of a difference in sound boost but one of the main things I use the headphones for at times is making phone calls. When I tried to make a call the volume of the call still sounded low. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have Sirius radio installed and you tube and sound on both definitely improved a bit. I wanted to try the other method by modifiying the path files but I heard some issues causing boot loops and it pretty much scared me away. I'm also still trying to figure out how to install TWRP on my LG G3 since I rooted it manually, I can't figure out how to get it on my device. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Finaly got TWRP on my device.
It's not a problem with the phones volume control but with your hearing ability.
I had hearing tests done last year at the clinic and they said I had very good sense of hearing... kind of a weird thing. Anyways, I can get it to about 75% volume and it's extremely loud. Any more than that is painful.
