Got this screen protector from Amazon for $1. Ordered Friday, got today. Not bad! Anyways, it was $1! I had a little squirt bottle of solution from a Zagg I had on an iphone and used it to apply. Went on great, feels thick but not annoying thick and sticky like a Zagg. After the solution dried, it looks great. Anyways, did I mention it was $1?!
http://www.amazon.com/XtremeGUARD©-...FR0Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302064917&sr=8-1
does it have those really annoying lines when viewing a white screen? my Zagg does that and it's really annoying
I don't see any when looking at white on here... just the usual **** from the screen itself

Awesome thanks for that, i wanted to replace my zagg anyways
Extreme Guards are nice
This is a great find IMO. I've been using this specific screen protector since the 2nd or 3rd month of using my phone. I got mine off ebay and thought i got a good deal at the time but it wasn't $1 + FREE SHIPPING!!
I use cases everyday went from generic to BodyGlove to currently Otterbox and the screen protector has held up well with only minor smudges/indents(i put one on my sisters vibrant at the same time, she does not use casses everyday and you can tell cuz the screen protector has smudges all over it LOL). This is my first "wet" screen protector and all in all im half/half on it.
PROs -
- REALLY love the clear crisp look. This thing really lets the phones awesome screen show off to its full ability!
CONs -
- getting water around my phone makes me scared!
- a little more difficult to install than normal "dry" type screen protectors
- the smudges/indents are permanent its almost like "wet" protectors are thinner and softer
thanks again for this awesome find!
Wow thanks for 1$ i guess ill try it
I went ahead and picked up 3 of these (just in case I messed up the install). Grand total of $3, with free shipping. They came in the mail within 2 days, not too bad.
Anyways, I had the Tmobile branded screen protector on my Vibrant since the day I bought it (and having used the 2nd to replace the first when it wore out). When I took the old protector off, I was blown away by the quality of the phone display. I forgot how awesome it was since I got used to using the screen protector. I carefully put one of these on it, and I have to say that there are no bubbles, and the screen maintains the same quality as if there was no cover on it at all. This protector blows the tmobile branded version away and it also covers the "buttons" at the bottom of the phone, which were left uncovered by the old protector.
Having now tried these out, they are WELL WORTH the price.
You can't beat $1, and they work well and look very nice. You almost can't even tell there is one on the phone.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents, and I'll recommend these to anyone that asks.
I also have this screen protector, and it's realy great !
I bought this too and it was a horrible screen protector.
I bought one of these based on the reviews, and so far I'm disappointed. There appear to be multicolor streaks all over the screen when it's turned on, as if there is grease all over it, especially when the screen is white. Anyone else have this happen or have a solution for it? This makes my screen look horrible.

It tends to start out like that, but clears up as the moisture between it and the screen evaporates.
I have applied 2 of these now and have had no issues whatsoever with them.

True but compared to my old zagg this one looks still greesy and scratches can be seen D:
Hey guys, I recently bought one of these off Amazon when I ordered my Otterbox case, it was only $2 so I figured I had nothing to lose. Here's my take on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19109961#post19109961
For those of you complaining, you probably just didn't install it right. I've had mine for a long time and I love it to pieces. The screen is bright, clear and unscratched. It doesn't get in the way of using the touch screen either.
3 years later....

I ordered those from eBay for around $15, they just arrived today. Tried to apply body protector first. Body protector is made out of 5 pieces and no matter how hard you would try to fit them, it's impossible to get them to stick nicely and not move. Started with the battery cover piece that's the largest and easiest to apply, it turned out to be just a little too big and when I put battery cover back on the of the phone, sides of the protector unglued and let the air under them which created bubbles. Tried side protector next, but that thing is impossible to fit. Gave up on the whole body protector and though to just apply screen protector and keep my gel case for now.
Screen protector is of the most horrible quality I've ever seen in my life! It's so grainy, it looks like my screen has a resolution of about 100x40 after application. More than that I'm not sure if it's because I used soaped water (as per instructions) or for some other reason, but parts of the screen-protector actually turned grey (against black background), some other parts are a bit clearer, but still, grain kills the whole thing. Ripped it off and will be waiting for some better screen-protectors to show up on the market.
Don't waist your money on those.

My Zagg should be here tomorrow
I ordered a similar protector from clearfreak (they were the only ones selling a protector for the captivate when I ordered about 10 days ago), and it came in the other day. While the material itself seemed about on par with the zagg protectors (I've used Zagg before), the screen protector was a bit too big, so theres a bubble going across the top where the protector wraps around the top of the phone.
I see that zagg has protectors now, so I guess I'll get one of those. They seem to have changed up their offerings a bit, they offer full body "maximum coverage" and "easy install"; can anyone tell me how difficult the maximum coverage protector is to apply? I've done a zagg full body install on my zune hd, so I understand that these things are a bit tricky to get on just right, but I want to know if the full body is significantly harder than the easy install one with a bit less coverage.
How is the touch screen after you put on the screen protector? I have had a few that really seemed to mess with the touch screen. It seemed like it took twice as much pressure for it to react.
Is that the case with the captivate as well?

Capacitive touchscreens aren't pressure sensitive, so protector or not, how hard you press shouldn't make a difference. That being said, I have a Zagg invisibleshield on my zune hd, and it hasn't affected the touch sensitivity at all.
I've used BodyGuardz and Zagg before. The one piece of advice I have is, instead of using the soaped water they give you, use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. It lets you slide the cover to the correct position very easily and will just evaporate out from under the cover, leaving no bubbles. I had a super clean install on my HTC Pure that way. To be safe I'd also remove the battery and make sure the phone has plenty of time to dry before you turn it on again. Also, if you enter ZAGG's weekly iPad giveaway thingy they have been giving out 40 and 50% off coupon codes.
I just got the AT&T screen protectors (pack of 3 for $10). I actiually got it for 5 (50% off through FAN account) and they are of good quality, clear and fit perfectly. There's even a cutout for the earpiece speaker and light and proximity sensors.
The two AT&T stores I went to did not have them but the AT&T smaller stores in the malls did.
I got the full body Invisible Gadget Guard, and mine looks fine. I didn't use soapy water, just plain old water, and everything fits perfectly, except for when I was dipping it in the bowl of water it snagged on the side of the bowl and when I made the mistake of trying to pull it off, it stretched, but I just cut it to fit and it's hardly noticeable.
Although, I won't lie. I did order the Zagg front screen protector for the fact that I know it works. I did the infamous "key test" on this cheap one, and it performed surprisingly well..
But it's not completely a rip-off if done right, especially for the $5 I paid.

you paid 5 bucks?
Let us know when you all get your Zagg Invisible Shield protectors in. I am trying to decide between Zagg and BodyGuardz. I haven't used either but I love the device entire too much to cover with a case.
With a 45 day money back guarantee, surely it cannot be that bad for the $24.
I bought the Invisible Gadget Guard off Ebay as well for $13.97 with a free car charger. I used just water to get it on. At first, it felt and looked awful but given 2 days, everything smoothed out and I was able to get all bubbles off. It's actually pretty nice now. I had to snip a little of the sides because I stretched it a little too long, but that's not a big deal.
I have a Zagg on my Zune HD, and initially I felt like it was a bit rubbery, but I left it on to see what happened, and after a week or so, it didn't feel rubbery anymore to me. You have to be really careful with the installation, make sure you dont get any dust/debris under the protector, but after that you can throw it in your pocket without any worries.
I got a phantomskinz for my captivate, since it ended up being similar in price to the Zagg but comes with 2 instead of one, and I'll post back here with impressions once it comes in.

Well I just finished installing this, and TBH it wasn't that bad... I've done many type of film installations on cars and stuff and it was very similar to doing it on the phone. I took my time with it and I am actually very satisfied with the result. It gives the phone a very needed grippy feel. Some pieces weren't the most perfect size to fit but it covered most of the area pretty well. I will got some pictures up later tonight. You really have to take your time with this installation or get a professional to do it, other wise you will end up like some people on here not very satisfied at all.

Has anyone tried the zagg screen protector for the vibrant? I watched few scratch videos and it looks like it is very durable. What I didn't like is the part where you have to apply it wet. Has anyone tried them on vibrant or any other phone?

I have changed over to the Realook and I couldn't be happier. Much more clear and much smoother.
I have the Zagg Invisible shield (screen only).. I will say it works as advertised as far as protection....
my disappointment is that my screen no longer feels like glass... its harder to use Swype because the screen is kinda rubbery and ur finger(s) dont slide as easily.
ALSO can't swear it's the reason... but trying to (for example) move the cursor when ur texting.. like trying to go back and add a ".... the precision is off... i have to try several times to get the cursor in the right place (makes me miss having a trackball).. I dont recall if this problem existed before i got the shield.
Damn, I wish I had read reviews like these before I dropped closed to thirty bucks on this crap. The protector needs to "cure" but already I can see a couple small (1cm and 2cm) straight vertical lines that at first looked like cracks (I had to throw away that pair of underwear). "Fortunately" I read the recent posts to this thread and found out it's not a problem with the screen. I thought perhaps all the squeegeeing messed it up.
The positive: it protects the screen from accidental scratches and acts like a oleophobic coating that should resist oily fingerprints (I don't know about you but I need that, bad).
The negative: the screen is no longer smooth to the touch so gestures are a little buffered but more consistent (without the shield, it would be best when the screen was clean but it would get jerky when the oil built up); the crisp picture is a little dull.
I don't think the hassle is worth it but I bet when you get that first scratch you'll wish you had the shield on. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Last but not least, at $30 for a piece of plastic, Zagg really needs to deliver perfection. This is just shameful.
If you like the Zagg, you might try www.bestskinsever.com since they're basically the same exact thing, just half the cost. I had them on my G1 and liked it. They're presently working on a Vibrant skin.

Just request a full refund. They should honor their money back guarantee as long as you're still within the time period.
Just received mine and really am not disappointed with the product it is a little less glass like but is not hard to use swype, clarity seems the same and screen response is about the same I could tell a little drag with the screen nothing crazy,i will say onr thing that confuses me is the back cover does not even cover the edges which is very word to me considering that's the most likely part it will land on. I'd give it an overall 7 out of 10. For the price there are better alternatives but it willdo the job. As far as the vertical line problem I cannot comment on that as mine did not have that problem.

I took it off ... got tired of looking at the wavy pattern of the plastic and the two "imperfections" on the shield ... I'd rather look at scratches. Plus, trying to swype only to fall short of the letter I was aiming for got old quick (the skin loses momentum from the extra resistance that the membrane introduces).
Anyone who claims their screen looks roughly the same after the Zagg Shield treatment is smoking something that he/she should share with the rest of us.
I also contacted Zagg regarding a refund ... let's see how that goes.

Thank you sir! I will check it out.
BTW, folks, if one searches for Samsung Galaxy Gorilla, one finds many references to the Galaxy S phones having a Gorilla screen that is scratch-resistant (which is an understatement for the kind of abuse they can withstand). Sounds to me like many of us wasted time and money to protect something that didn't really need the protection. Just my two cents (albeit very, very late).
Good luck to all with their screen protection strategy.
Ghost Armor...
Ghost Armor...look into it! thinner than invisible shield so it's more responsive and doesn't get that orange peel...same lifetime guarantee, overall better product!
Well I got my 2 zagg screens, applied first 2 nasty vertical lines on the screen. removed it next day. Applied second thought what are the chances in getting two defective screens... same thing but this time only 1 line. Keeping this one on until my realook arrives.
Love my screen. Invisi sheild ftw

I thought I'd input my 2 cents on this topic:
I got this directly from the manager of the 3M distribution facility for my area...
3M owns the patent for this kind of protection film.
Clearbra, Zagg, BestSkinsEver, basically anyone saying their product was designed for military use (on helicopter blades), they are all getting their materials from 3M. The only difference between vendors is the measurements they take, and ultimately the template they use for the application.
It sounds like Realook is a different material since it doesn't have that same rubbery feel to it, so they are probably not getting their stuff from 3M.

Having had both on my Vibrant I can tell you that they are definitely different material. The Zagg is flimsy rubber feeling material that requires water to install, the Realook is a harder plastic feeling material that appears to cling to the screen as it touches it.
After having both on the phone I can say without a doubt that the Realook is the superior product. It goes on easier, it's transparent, and it feels like the original glass.
Side note... I showed a buddy my phone the other day and he was playing around with it for a few minutes watching Avatar and playing a game. As he handed it back to me he said "you going to put a screen protector on there?" I said "It already has one". He looked again and he still couldn't tell that it was there, even after I told him.
Realook for the win!
I bought the screen protector package from tmobile. Hated them and ripped them off.
Bought a Clear Freak. Not bad. Not great either.
My biggest problem is that I bought this phone, out of contract for $500 because it has this amazing screen. So I want to protect it so it continues to look amazing, but in doing so I make it look like total ****. So it is a self defeating endeavor. It is a great paradox. How do I protect the screen and make it look amazing?
In the past I have used Seidio inward facing cases. That protects from most accidental damage and a micro fiber cloth to clean dust and fingerprints a couple of times per day.
I really just feel like using a screen protector on this AWESOME screen is blasphemy. I just tore off the clear freak while writing this, the screen looks 10x better without it. Using a screen protector on this phone is very similar to just leaving it in the box, or just using an inferior screen.
Basically I didn't buy a $500 phone with the most awesome screen on the market so that I could slap a piece of plastic on it and make it look worse than an old G1 screen.
What are your thoughts?
I use the RealLook screen protector and it is hard to even tell that it is on there.

So true, so true...
Does realook collect dust around the edges of the screen. That is the main reason I took the gadget guard off.
I used the clearfreak and I really can't tell much of a difference. I spent a good fifteen minutes getting it perfect, though.
I have used a couple of different screen protectors and was about to buy the reallook this morning on amazon because I just don't dig the clear freak. It does look invisible but you can tell a huge different in the crispness of the screen with it on there. I believe that is going to be the case no matter what. So I have made decided to go bareback and just hope that I can keep it scratch free!
I tried the T-Mobile and Realook screen protectors. I've given up. I just don't like screen protectors.
The T-Mobile screen protectors are horrible, the matte finish degrades the screen, had them and got rid of them.
I'm now using the reallook and if applied correctly, you can't tell it's on the phone, it's very, very good, covers the entire screen, and screen senssitivity is not affected. So far no dust on mine around the edges either.
If the phone will not be scratched by anything, so why bother putting protector on?
I got one piece of gadgetguard and I feel more confidence sliding my finger across the screen harder and harder without worry.
Agree that no screen protector is the best, but I have the reallook cover and I'm very happy with it. Screen still looks awesome.

I thought the same thing. I now have a scratch in the center of my screen, I don't even know what it's from. The strange thing is I am super protective about my device and it has never been dropped. The only thing I can think of is something in my pocket but I never keep it in the same pocket as anything else.

Invisible Gadget Guard
I am using a screen protector from Invisible Gadget Guard, and i really can't tell that it is there. I did have to take about a half hour to make it look that good though.
Had a Realook but it made the capacitative buttons along the bottom less sensitive. I took it off and am debating on going back to a screen protector. If my screen gets scratched up that bad I will just call Tmobile customer service and tell them I need a new phone because my phone is sucking down batteries in less than 2 hours. Works every time!!!!
I HATED the T-Mobile screen protectors I had. I switched to realook and swear by them now. As long as you take your time putting it on, the results are beautiful.
i like the clearfreak, it was a pain to put on but its feel is very close to the screen itself
I really think realook is the way to go. I've used many different brands of screen protectors and this by far is the best. Like ppl have said before you really cant tell that there's a screen protector on the phone
I have clear freak right now but there is one small spec of dust under it and its annoying the hell out of me. I picked up some realook screen protectors think I'm going to try and switch to those.

funny you mention that - i have the same thing.
I ordered 2 of the 3.99 clearfreaks, but my next purchase will be the Realook
So when I bought my captivate I bought the ATT screen protector and it was very nice.
If I were to leave a mark due to hitting with my nail on the screen, the mark will slowly disappear back to normal. It was also full size all the way to the home button etc.
After many months I decided to replace it as it was coming off on the sides but the quality was still great.
Well, first red flag was that the new version is no longer full size. Only covers to the lower part of the actual display area but I was assured that it was the same material...
Yeah, same material my A$$! That thing sucks...it became a mess of horrible screen patterns like I was looking at some Nasa Mars photos or something.
I took it back and the bastards wanted to charge me $5 bucks to replace it again!
I express my deepest feeling in some not very forum appropiate wording and left.
Bought an invisi shield even though opinions are mixed about it and so far I love it.
Screen looks perfect with non of the horrible patterns I was getting with the ATT ****.
Just a warning.

If you can find the original one (full lenght) you should be fine but if it is the small one run away from it. I couldnt take that more than a week.
The invisi-sheild is pretty good I had one and loved it, but I just replaced it with the ATT screen shield last week and mine comes all the way down and covers my buttons and is actually a pretty decent protector. Maybe they were out of stock and gave you one that 'works' for your phone. The rep did bring me the wrong one initially....
That's not good. I HATED my InisiSheild. The ATT screen protector was the only screen protector I've been able to stand.

Agree on the Zagg. It was absolutely terrible, but it was free, so I can't really complain. Anyway, I gave up on screen protectors altogether.
Screen protector? What's that? Lol. Seriously, I've never used one and I've dropped my phone face down on both gravel and pavement. My screen still looks brand new. I think screen protectors on these phones are just a waste of money, and I hate the idea of having another layer to distort the image.

All it takes is one grain of sand.
The old AT&T screen protectors are the best compromise I've found between the crystal clarity of running naked, and having at least some protection.

This.
I don't know how you people keep saying after months of screen protectorless use, your phone looks brand new.
I went protectorless for a couple months, and after that short a period of time I picked up a few noticeable scratches. They aren't deep enough to be seen in use, but they are there.
I'll keep my screen protectors. Can't really tell the difference anyway.
You agree with a post that is stating the opposite of what you are saying? That is cool LOL
If you want the original At&t protectors, search for the brand Real Look. One of my packs from At&t had the Real Look branding on the stuff inside the pack. I also suggested Real Look to a buddy with an iPhone 4, and when he got his, it's the same great material.
I will never use another brand of screen protector as long as Real Look makes one for my phone.

I don't know if I just got a bad batch, but the ones I got from AT&T a few months ago suck. Really rainbow...y and they have the annoying hole for the proximity and light sensor.
Had my captivate since July of last year, 3 days before release. Never used a screen protector and when I wipe it off it looks like I just peeled the DONT TXT AND DRIVE thingy off. Guess I'm just lucky.

These are the Real Look screen protectors. I find that the rainbow effect disappears when the screen is on, so that is really not an issue. Also, I don't really think the cutout for the proximity sensor is that bad, it's a really small area that is barely noticeable, and I'm sure probably is there for a reason.
To me, the Real Look screen protectors have an unbeatable finish for keeping clean, smooth, and even scratch free. If you like the natural feel of gorilla glass, give them a shot, because these really do feel like the gorilla glass when they are clean. IMHO, they have the best scratch resistance of any crystal screen protector that I have ever used on any device. In the past I used matte screen protectors because I always hated scratches in glossy ones, but these have solved that problem.
I'm not trying to flame, I just think it's a bit unfair to be that nitpicky about a great product. Did you notice any of the positive qualities of these?
I dont know what brand it is but i use the screen protector that came with my otterbox. didnt use on on my first captivate, could definitely see some marks on screen, no problems with one in place.
I have also used Realook brand protectors. I thought they worked really well. The only reason you could tell I was using one was the horrible job I did installing it. They say they are washable and reusable, but after trading in my phone for a warranty issue I decided not to even try to reuse it. I just ordered a new one. $10 for 2 of em. I almost wasn't going to use one and I read a post from someone who says that he can see a bunch of microscopic scratches on the glass from keeping it in his pocket. The way I see it, I would rather cover it and not take any chances.
Go to best buy they have a military grade polyurethane they wrap around your phone it is the best screen protector phone protector ever

I have a Skinomi brand protector on my captivate and it seems much better than the many others I have seen. Been on the phone since I got it (around release) and it doesn't have a single bubble or imperfection. Awesome stuff!

I should mention, I really dislike cases and most screen protectors in general. When I received my Nexus 5, I wanted to add some protection, however I did not want to put a case as I love the way the phone feels. I ordered one of the cheaper PET film protectors for my friend's N5 and after installing it on his I gave one a try on mine- I could live with it as you could barely see it, but I was not happy with the way it slightly changed the feel of the screen and it was a big fingerprint magnet, so my screen always looked dirty. Someone recommended the TruGlass Screen Protector and while it seemed great, I hesitated on spending $30 on a screen protector as you only get one shot at the perfect install. After much back and forth I finally ordered it. After ordering I got an email that stated there was a delay and it would be about a week and a half before it could ship - the email came with a $10 credit to use on another Cruzerlite product, which was a nice touch.
I received the screen protector a week later, it came with a little kit to assist with install and I used the method of taping the protector to the side of the phone before peeling the film back. The install went perfect and the protector looked and felt great. Only issue was that there was a slight chip on the top left corner. Other than the chip it was everything I wanted - completely clear, it kept finger prints away and it did not change the responsiveness or feeling of the naked screen. I immediately emailed Cruzerlite about the issue and quickly got a response letting me know they would happily send out a replacement free of charge if I could just send a picture of the issue. I received the second screen protect just a few days later (which was impressive given it was sent around the holidays) and it is absolutely perfect. It doesn't go completely to the edge of the device, so it can be used with a case - but it goes far enough to the edge that you do not have to use a case.
Let me know if anyone has any specific questions about the product.
tl;dl Coming from someone that likes "naked" devices, I would highly recommend spending the premium on TruGlass protector. It looks and feel great. Added bonus is Cruzerlite's amazing customer service.

Here is a pic of the first one that had the chip, it's dirty but you can see how far to the edges the protector goes. Once cleaned, it looks flawless but it's really the touch that stands out as the best feature - it feels exactly like the naked screen.

Such a great product. I just noticed they are available for the GS4 as well, I am going to have to pick one up for my wife's phone.
Ok so I got my hands on Cruzerlite TruGlass Screen Protector. First off I had sworn off glass screen protectors because of a past experience. But I thought what hell let's see what their protectors are all about. The price is very good compared to a lot of the competition first off. The screen protector is Lab tested nano-glass, Oleophobic coated, has a Anti-shatter film, has a 9H hardness rating and 0.25 MM thick. I applied the protector using the hinge method and it was a perfect apply. It seemed to just suction to the screen and all bubbles just ran out. Every corner stuck perfect which was my main issue with my previous glass screen protector that scared me away from these (was another brand). I honestly think the glass feels so much better than the screen of the nexus 5 itself. My finger just glides across the screen now and the glass is Crystal clear. It works well with every case I've tried which is a huge plus for those of us that use cases. Another thing I noticed is how easy it is to clean the screen. I've now had it on for over two weeks and everything looks like the day I applied it. I highly recommend these screen protectors and if I ever need to get another screen protector for my n5 it I'll be getting another one of these.
