Crossposted this from over in the Themes/Apps thread, maybe will get some more hits here.
I am running FRESH 3.5.0.1, with no mods at all. I wanted to change my battery icon using UOT kitchen, and am having issues with the phone getting stuck in a boot loop after flashing the modified ZIP. The phone starts up, but immediately goes back to the splash screen, over and over.
Im currently using the default options on UOT for a simple battery icon mod. Im loading in the original FRESH 3.5.0.1 framework-res.apk for the final file.
Anyone else have issues flashing this? is there something i am missing?

Hello all,
Well I am currently using CM7 [build 12, downloading 13 as I type] but my question is I want to change from the Cyanogenmod animation, not that its bad, but I like my own. I have previously changed animations before and also changed my splash screen, so I know how to change them, though I am using CW3, I have tried some that were edify compatible, and clockwork says it flashed, but once re-booted, it is still Cyanogen. I have tried manually flashing, adb, and the "pushboot" method. I also changed the animation zip file in the rom, to the animation of the Android scribble and then re-flashed it. The image changed from Cyanogen, but it was just a Android in metalics that flashed, not the above image. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.
Hmm.. I have no issues changing my boot animations on cm7..
So not sure why its not working for you but make sure your file is named bootanimation.zip and that your installing it to.. system/media/
I have a glitch in my stock boot animation as when it ends, it jumps and fades back in quickly.
The only mods there are to my epic is flashed custom stock kernel to fix camera lag in EB13, rooted w/1-click and clockwork 2.5, and did horizontal rotation fix via terminal. Any ideas or suggestions for a cool new one that is animated or how to fix stock one?
Exactly which kernel?
Not sure if it does but if that kernel is setup to support custom boot animations then this post might help. He just built the standard animation as a custom animation.
I was using this custom animation with stock EB13 till I flashed the new Truly Epic v3. I might still go back to that one, not sure.
Stock EB13 with the camera lag fix. Been doing alot of reading and from what I determine it may not be the actual graphic files that are the offender, it could be the text file (MHT) that is a pointer to the graphics. I appreciate your help and the animations on your link is cool. I recognize the shine effect on the text from after effects, cool!
UPDATE: had to re flash my epic w/ stock down loader from Samsung (broke something deleting Bloat) seems as if the Glitch was in the stock as well, don't know at this point, although not as bad at this point, waiting for someone to come out with a *****in Rom.
Just some background, I'm a VERY basic ROM developer just cutting my teeth on this stuff. I'm looking at incorporating Smooth Sense into my ROM. Here's my current issue:
Using this zip;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7495843&postcount=26
I can flash my ROM without smooth sense, boot, reboot to recovery, flash the above zip, reboot, and it works fine.
However, if I just take the framework.res.apk from that zip, place it into my kitchen, and make a ROM, the ROM will not boot when flashed. It gets to the Droid intro sequence, goes to the HTC white screen, and that screen just flashes indefinitely.
So, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Ideally, I'm not looking for someone to actually do it for my. I'm genuinely looking to better myself so that I can in return contribute to this community. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Could be the way it is signed. Try flashing your ROM by turning off signature verification in recovery and see if that helps.
An alternative it to take the icons out of smooth sense and copy them into yours to replace yours.
Hi just wondering when I download a battery icon for example of the kitchen do I have to wipe before I flash it? Also if I decide I won't different font for example do I just flash that over again and the battery will stay?
Thanks
No you don't news to wipe. And yes the battery will stay. The fonts are just normal font files that get put in /system/fonts. The battery gets built into the framework and the framework gets replaced. Just to be safe I would backup first because I have had it where the flash has messed up.

Ok thanks for the reply mate. How come every time a flash something the battery goes back to the standard 1 so I have to flash it again?
Thanks
Also is there any way of changing the email envelope you get when you get a email? I can't seem to find anything.
Anyone any idea why when I flash some icons my modified battery goes back to standard?
why don't you ask those questions in the right place => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
uot kitchen thread by mendozina.
you shpould considere what your are flashing and how... each time you flash new icons, if it's system icon then framework is replace. you should use (copy) the mod bat framework from you system to flash new icon and keep the already mod you had done.
but this is a though since you don t give a lot explaination.

Are you using the ROM files provided by UOT each time? If so, each time you make new items in the kitchen you're only over-writing those specific files when you flash it. Therefore if you choose not to change the battery mod in the kitchen when you flash new icons, you're flashing standard battery settings over the previously flashed customer battery settings.
i have similar problem,
today i have cooked my first mod, just new battery icons for status bar, status bar icons and new font. rom gets cooked w/o problems, also flashing goes as smooth as should be. the thing is, when i boot the phone no change is visible.
i didn't upload framework and system apk-s, i used IC 1.1.0. from kitchen, which is the rom i use. i did use edify script (for CM 3.x) and uncheck ThemeChooser.
i must be missing something but can't figure out what it is...any help appreciated. thx!
ok, i figured it out...flashing zip doesn't work for some reason, but adb push solved it... everything works now! for me, at least...hope it helps someone...;-)
I'm running CM10.1 on my (Verizon) Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
I just recently put CM on it and have been messing around with a few themes and boot animations. Everything was just fine.
While trying to create my own boot animation and use it, though, something went wrong. The boot animation never fully ended and I could only see half of my homescreen when I was in landscape (portrait mode showed the full, frozen boot animation). So, after a few tries of rebooting to get it to go through, I wiped it completely and redid CM10.1 and GApps. This isn't the problem.
Now, for some reason, regardless of what theme I apply, the Camera and Gallery icons don't change. Even though I installed the same GApps and everything as the first time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question or something of the sort. I'm a noob.
