[Q] Can't use wired headset with wifi calling? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this a known issue/"feature"? If I'm using wifi calling on my G2, the device ignores my connected wired headset and uses only the phone speaker and mic. If I'm not using wifi calling, everything works fine. It did this before and after installing Bacon Bits. I haven't tried this with Bluetooth, but wired is really where my concern is.
Brad

Sorry for the shameless bump, but is anyone else having this problem? It happens on both mine and my wife's G2. The DTMF (dialing) comes through the headset, but when the call itself connects, it goes to the handset. Speakerphone works fine also.
Anyone else? Is this a known bug or "feature" that I'm just not aware of?
Brad

Yeah, I just discovered this issue....any have any information on this? I was hoping to use this for long conference calls...kind of useless if I cannot use a headset.
Edit: Bluetooth seems to work fine - but I don't want to depend on it.

I hope that's not a bug b/c my main use on my phone (HTC magic 32b) has been making calls through internet using new built in sip and the next phone I will get is an HTC T-Mobile G2 and if I can't talk through headset will making calls through sip then that will be a huge drawback.

Skype over Bluetooth for WM6

Hello Guys,
Please could some one give some advice how can I use my BT using Skype ?
because is not convenient some times ...
Thanks
My understanding is that this is not possible. Skype - by default - handles the audio signal differently - via data connection, not the GSM connection. So, the only way to get it to a headset is to use the plugged in version
Thats probably true because I can get my bt8010 to work with skype but either I lose sound on my end or the callers end and I know its not the headsets fault. The program starts running really really slow like it doesn't have enough bandwidth or something..
Its still in beta so hopefully it gets addressed..

Skype

HI
I think about buying a TP2 and i wondering about Skype over the phone data link (Telstra NextG) not Wi-Fi which has been confirmed working.
Thanks
What do you want to know? Yes Skype works over 3G!
according to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532563
"I got it worrking. What's the problem? Only works on WIFI though
(at least I think, never tried diffrent)"
Skype on THE TP2 only work thought the wifi and not the data network link 3G!
So dose Skype on the TP2 work with the data network like Telstra NextG ?
thanks of any help
I believe Skype works on both WiFi and on 3G (HDSPA better I guess). Quarintis says it works ONLY on WiFi, however, he has never tried to use it on 3G. What a way to make a statement.
Be careful though that most carriers do not allow for Skype, streaming media etc over 3G or HSDPA networks. Not even with "unlimited internet" accounts.
HI, I use Skype over 3G. There is no technical problem unless your 3G provider blocks the port!
It works perfectly over the loud speaker and earphones.
However, I can hear well over bluetooth but my own voice sounds like a duck... (clip naro model)
Thanks for your help

Does this mean it works fine also in the Straight Talk mode where you turn the phone over flat on its face?
I make a lot of Skype calls from home over WiFi and I'd love to stop using a PC headset and use a proper phone instead. So with Straight Talk speaker phone + Skype that would be excellent because I can just have it sitting on my desk and don't need to hold anything.

the activation of the hands free mode by putting the phone upside down on the desk works only in normal calls.
skype per default routes all its audio through the rear loudspeakers. unfortunately their sound gets recorded by the microphne resulting in a massive echo. You probabely dont want to use skype in that configuration. The alternatives are:
1. a bluetooth headset
2. the wired headset that comes with the phone
3. routing the audio through the ear-piece (it is to silent to get recorded by the microphone)
of course none of the 3 options gives you the hands free experience
Anyone know how to make video calls on it (through Wi-Fi)? I cant seem to find the settings for the camera.

You can't find it simply because the current version of Skype mobile unfortunately does not support video calls.
Teksoft AudioRoute
Hi all
AudioRoute by Teksoft alows you to have skype calls come out the phone's earpiece, like a regular call. I think Fring does this automatically. I think they've got a thread here somewhere.
Cheers

Using the cabled earphones, just plug it and it works with Skype.. no need anything else! or do you mean Audioroute helps for bluetooth earpiece?
anybody get skype to work over bluetooth? i downloaded both programs and can't figure out how to get it to work here.
thanks.
i had an xperia and there was a skype version for it that would let you hear the sound from the earpiece, wich is more convenient if you are not using handsfree. See, you can let the sound go trough the speaker, but not always handy if you are in private talk. audioroute works, but it's just not that convenient to switch between the speakers all the time.
So... xperia's version of skype does install on tp2, but when starting the app it says that the tp2 is not an xperia, obviously... so... how to bypass that? anyone?

I have, i buy Jabra BT3030, this have hands free and stereo audio-you need this.
Jabra works with skype good
sorry for my english
dav000, how did you get skype to output sound to the bluetooth? it is not a built in feature to do this.
I've tried using Skype over NextG with my TP2, and have had nothing but extremely awful results. Horrible lag makes any Skype call over the air illegible. The only decent Skype calls I've made with the unit has been over wifi. Basically, it lags so much over Telstra that all you hear is wharblgarbl while it races to catch up. Calls skype to skype over NextG are marginally better.
For that matter, Fring over NextG is also as awful. Simply cannot make VOIP calls over the NextG network with the TP2.
It's a shame, too. With my nokia e51, you could still make Fring calls even if there was about a 2 second delay.
Mileage may vary in the city, though, but certainly not in the parts of Melbourne that I've tried (CBD, Melbourne East). I do live in country Victoria, but NextG here is still tons faster than Edge, but just can't seem to handle Skype. Knowing Telstra, maybe they've blocked the ports.

Use CarPC As BT Voice Gateway

I have a PC computer in my car that I use for many thing and I want to integrate my phone into it by using a Bluetooth voice gateway to play the sound over the speakers in the car and use a mic to talk into. Obviously since this is the Rhodium forum I have a Touch Pro 2 (by Verizon) running OEM ROM. The PC is running XP SP2 with Widcomm bluetooth stack.
Making calls I have no problems. When I'm in range it connects and when I make a call its flawless. The problem is when I get a call. When a call comes in it rings once then answers without me doing anything. And no its not the auto answer feature on a headset (i know that would be the first reply if i didnt say that). The issue is that even though there is a BT link to the PC the voice gateway doesn't connect until in a call. When i make one it connects when i hit send to dial, when i receive a call it connects when it starts to ring and once there is a connection it answers. It would be bad if im driving and someone calls i dont want to talk to or something and it just answers without me knowing.
I tested this theory with my regular BT headset. I had the headset off and I called the phone and once it started ringing i turned on the head set and sure enough it answered.
My question is how do i get it to hold a solid connection all the time like a normal BT headset would? Or make it not answer once a headset is connected?
I tried using the BlueSoleil BT stack also. This one worked ok once everything was connected but every time I came back in range of the PC or turned the PC on I would have to manually connect the voice gateway again.
Thanks for any help!
Edit: oh yea, also I had the same issues with my XV6800 (Titan) and never got it to work right either.
anyone have any ideas on this?
no one on this forum has tried this other than me?

no wifi tethering while calling with a bluetooth headset

Hello I am running OMJ 2.2 froyo 4.4. I have 4g access and call make calls while tethering w/o a problem. I can also use my bluetooth headset for a2dp listening to pandora while wifi tethering. My problems arise when I try to do wifi tethering while making a call and talking over my bluetooth headset. Does anyone know a way to fix this? Is this supported in any other rom? I'm not sure if this matters, but I'm using a plantronics voyager pro + headset. Thanks a bunch
-Loki
so has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone been able to wifi tether while making a call over a bluetooth headset?

Coredroid V7.0 Bluetooth Question

Was wondering if Coredroid 7.0 supports sharing phone contacts via bluetooth? I have a Motorola Roadster Bluetooth device in my car and hoped my phone contact list could be shared so I could voice dial using it.
I'm having the following issues:
1) Takes a long time to connect..phone shows paired but not connected (after several minutes it may or may not connect)
2) Doesn't allow me to voicedial (Get an FC if I hit the voicedial button on Roadster)
3) Doesn't support accessing phonebook via bluetooth?
Love the Rom....just wish I could use bluetooth device in my car. Anyone else having issues?
I too am seeing the voice dialer FC when activated from BT but it seems to work fine when initiated from the phone. Would be nice to be able to initiate voice dial from my BT headset. Have done some reading on this issue and appears to be occurring with many roms so it might not be a coredroid issue or even an issue coredroid can fix??

I ended up downloading Vlingo from the market. Voice dialing now works fine with my bluetooth Motorola roadster.

Are you able to use the bluetooth button, with the screen off, to initiate a dial?
I can't seem to find anything that works well to leave the phone in my bag in the back seat, and make a call.
