I factory reset my epic while i was on the syndicatefro110-fullyloaded. Everything was fc"ing on me which i knew that was going to happen. but when i went into cwm3.006 it did the ext4 convert again. does anyone know if doing a factory rest makes your phone go back to rfs?
To the best of my knowledge, once u have gone ext4 u can undo it without flashing a non ext4 rom.

So I flashed a new rom, did the usual, clear everything, reset/cache/dalvik and flashed the rom. However, when I rebooted the trinity logo/initial startup just stays on that screen forever. I tried reflashing from recovery and it still hangs forever on that screen. Do I have to go thru download mode/odin and get stock/root to be able to flash again or is there a quicker easier way?
Have you tried to restore a nand backup?
Try a factory reset after you flash the new rom.

I tried the reset after flash... and I never do NAND backups T_T. But I never do anything that could ruin it. I just thought there would be a quicker way instead of a compete reset to stock. But o wells, now I can set the flash counter back to 0 and not trip it anymore.
I accidentally deleted some system files from my phones. I want to ask that will restoring my ROM will bring me back those files or is there any other way so you can tell that as well.
The files I deleted were related to sound so now there is no sound on my mobile phone now. I also want to tell you that I am using stock android 4.2.1 rom.
Restoring is your best bet. If you have CWM you can also restore a nandroid, reflash, or factory reset.
If you have a backup to restore that should work. Factory resetting the device will not as it just formats /data & /cache leaving /system the same as it was before. If you dont have a backup you can fastboot flash the /system image from a Google factory image.
thanks
Thank you for the reply.
didn't work
The restore option didn't work. What should i do now?

Did you factory reset before restoring the backup? Yes?
Then you need to start fresh = flash stock through fastboot.

Cache is formatted during a factory reset, so no need to do it twice. And you didn't say yes to formatting /system. Try doing a factory reset and formatting /system, then flash the ROM again.

i tried the system format but that wasn't the problem. the new speaker just suddenly went bad, have no clue why but it did, i put the old blown speaker back in it and sound works although it sounds horrible. Thank you everyone for the advice, really appreciated it
ohh yu can also flash Touch of Blue, its based on the latest OTA by HTC/VZW. It's completely stock with a couple of mods by the Author of the ROM but it should be good enough to see if the speaker is messed up software wise or the actual hardware.

Today after 5 months of keeping my stock rom I wanted to change to a CM based rom.
I backed up the phone, then I noticed that factory rest is now factory reset/ remove data, so I press it thinking it will factory reset.
Put my rom and then reboot, after that I check my photos, videos, and music is gone. I have most of that backed up on my computer.
THEN, my titanium back up is gone! All i have is a back up from March for titanium backup and that isn't up to date with my apps and games!
I checked my cwm and the back up is corrupted. WOW
My internal storage is the same before putting a new rom but when I check it I can't find my files. If it removed my files why is my storage still the same???
I know all of you are going to tell me to back up to external but I don't have one... I really don't want anyone else to criticize because I know I should have backed up better.
What I don't get is how factory reset changed to wipe data/factory reset?
Is TWRP better than CWM?
Thanks!
Has nothing to do with recovery, I believe factory reset has always wiped data. Your files are still there, they are just "hidden" and that's from flashing an aosp ROM. If u flash a tw ROM, u will see them again.
I want to perform a factory reset but I encrypted the phone using twrp and now it wont decrypt. Im currently using CM11 and cant change roms until I can perform the reset. I tried to perform the reset with TWRP and it wouldnt work so I switched to CWM and it still says it cant mount /data whenever i try to perform a factory reset. Can anybody give me a way to get around this?

switch to PhilZ touch recovery and factory data reset but use the second option which wipes everything in order to flash a new rom....but it leaves your pictures and music alone
