Which Gingerbread (AOSP) kernel have people had the best battery life with? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed CM7 RC4, and the battery life is aweful, and it seems that most kernes I try its hard to tell how good the battery life is, what have people had good experiences with on with Gingerbread kernels for Inc?

In general, I've had pretty good luck with chad's incredikernel (I'm on 3.18.2011). Invisiblek #34 wasn't bad, either.

tiamat ive been getting a day or 2, and it has fast charging. it did have a wakeing issue with the older versions but thats taken care of now

I'm using invisiblek and getting through the day no problem on the stock battery.

Another vote for chad's incredikernel here. It's served me well in MIUI.

I actually found that the stock kernel on CM7 works the best for me, we very light use I can easily blow through 2 days and then some. Otherwise most of the time I'm moderately using my phone during classes playing Angry Birds/other games, apps, wifi, and I'm still able to at least get 10 hours out of it.

Kernel suggestions?

Here is the situation, I appreciate any feedback. I'm running Remptive Revolution with the Distinction 1.49 theme on it, I flashed over to one of ziggy's kernels not too long ago and it seems like it rips my battery up. I usually have it around 1.15 on demand in SetCPU with profiles set to 384max when screen off, and 768 max when below 50% and 691 below 30%. It seems like the original ROM kernel was wicked fast but I didn't get a good chance to test out the battery life. I've tried a few different kernels and I'm considering going back to one of the Hydra kernels, I feel like they haven't done me wrong. I'm just looking for a good solid kernel that will give me solid battery and good performance, I know I won't get the best of both worlds, but I'd prefer good battery life. Also, pro/cons/purpose of wiping battery stats? I can't seem to find any info about it.
I really like chads kernels. His newest one an oc to 1.113 and is faster then any other kernel ive ever used with really good battery life. (ive only tested the battery life at stock speeds.) And the purpose of wiping battery stats is to let your phone recalibrate the battery so basically you can get the best battery life. ( i believe at least)

Installing now. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have an update later on and we'll see where we stand.
The reason I'm hesitant to use KingKlicks is because of a constant bootloop I ran into. And Ziggy was just cool, got some really good quadrant scores on it, but it just ran through battery like nothing. Anyway, thanks again! I'm excited!
I've been using Heyitslou new kernel and battery life is the best since I've owned this phone. I'm also using his Redemptive Revolution ROM.

If you use aosp roms then I would go with invisiblek #17. It's the best that I've found thus far.

Best kernel i have used by far for cm6
I wiped battery stats a few days ago in recovery, and literally every app on my phone started force closing. I had to restore from a backup, and when I did, every app acted like it was the first time I ever loaded it. Had to set up EVERYTHING again. Do as you will, but the ONLY thing I did to cause that garbage was wipe my battery stats. I'd love better battery life too, but I think the software should be capable of relearning your power cycle of a battery if you replace the battery. Can't stay one way forever.. or at least it shouldn't.
does anyone know where I can download KXK #3 or one of his other kernels? I have tried to find them on this site and the ROM manager. Even google's top results are just sending me to theads about the kernels but none have links to the kernel itself. I am going to try using it to get my battery life extended since I really don't mess with my DINC much besides angry birds (addict for life).
Thanks,
JrdnThms
There is a kernel thread floating around here somewhere it has them. I'm on my phone so I can't link but its called the official kernel thread I believe

Best AOSP Rom For Battery Life

I'm currently running Cyanogenmod, but I listen to music at least a few hours a day, and its really draining my battery. Any suggestions for a good AOSP rom for battery life, outside of MIUI and Cyanogenmod? Thanks!
Try the new savaged Zen kernel..

do not use the 1.0.0 kernel or you will get nasty audio quality if volume is > 50%
SZ 0.2.1 is getting me a lot of battery life. there is salvage mod 1.1 as well
I haven't done a whole lot of kernel flashing before, SZ is compatible with Cyanogenmod I take it?
Are you looking for Rome or kernels?....cus Tom's I wouldn't know but the tiamat kernel in my sig for AOSP roms works really well...SBC and non-SBC available
Sent from my nightly EVO
I am getting REALLY good results with CM7 and Tiamat. I don't do a ton of music listening but I do put medium to heavy use on it and I am nowhere near having to charge it end of day.
Thanks guys, I'm gonna try out tiamat then!
Beast, I see you're using SBC, how about you blizzard? I'm a little concerned to try the SBC one.
If you're using pandora, slacker, or some other music streaming app your battery will suffer pretty much regardless of whatever kernel you're using.

SavagedZen is he best for ASOP in my experience, but anyone can have great battery life just by turning off data/WiFi, etc when you aren't using it.

I am on the nonsbc one, I usually disregard the warnings as I am fairly comfortable in flashing and such but when it states actual damage possible that's where I stop.
That's just me though, some people seem to have great success with it.
If you do a little research, the 8 reports of damage from sbc kernels came from the very early days of sbc development.
It's all I use and I haven't had a problem.
Maybe I'm just lucky

Yea don't get me wrong, I know they are probably safe to use or the devs wouldn't put them out as final builds. I just personally don't use them.
Visit HERE. Also, I've been using sbc since they first arrived on the seen. I've yet to have any problems so I suppose everyone is different.
I run this rom, http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-htc-...rom-gingerbread-evo-deck-rc6-real-stable.html
And this kernel, http://mirror.savaged-zen.com/
with great results.

[Q] Sense Kernels

I'm getting bored with AOSP roms, and I want to switch to Sense, but I need good battery life. Which kernel should I use? I've tried Incredikernel previously on sense and it doesnt give good battery life, so what should I get/what should I do to get good battery life. I can't have my phone die when I'm at work.
If battery life is your main concern then stick with aosp. But, for sense kernels, Lou's #8 worked well for me. Haven't tried ziggy's personally but some people seem to have good luck with them.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Add my vote for Lous#8, I tried a few and have settled on this one, been using it for a couple weeks now and its been stable and I love the built in power profiles. No need to mess with setCPU any longer.
Lou's #8 +1 Also Chad's 12/23 kernel worked great, and its good if you want to overclock. But I got best performance and battery with Lou's
FWIW, Lou's didn't work well for me - probably something about my setup. Chad's has been the one I always go back to.

Q: is froyo just better on battery than gbread?

I have ran gbread leaks since they dropped, then when the ota hit I was using kernels. Now some kind development have modified some new kernels w UV and HDMI but recently I flashed back to my old faithful myns rls5 w netarchy 4.3.4 cfs no UV and SBC.
I guess to get to my point, why is the battery just sooooo much better. I lost very few things going to froyo. It is not as snappy at the same clock speed but it still gets it done. I have been on wifi and 3g today and the total at 12 hours is only 77%. I have downloaded roms, taking pictures, messaging. I am currently on all the latest radio, pri, NV and it sleeps great. Is the SBC that much better? Always ran SBC before gbread and on aosp but nothing has gotten me the same battery life that froyo has. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? If its just due to SBC who do I need to talk to to beg to modify a kernel to achieve this? A bounty, lol, PayPal? Microsoft points? Really I love my Evo and it would be a while before I'm getting rid of it.
I can see a few benefits of being on the latest operating system but right now, my battery really negates any of the reasons. And please, if I had the time I would research more on going it myself but married, kids, jobs, mortgage etc etc my time is slim enough as it is. Thanks for anyone with ideas or help to try to get this into effect as we as a community would all benefit. I'm not here for an SBC vs non SBC debate. I have ran it for almost a year w no issues. I will just buy more batteries. My old seidio 3500 is still running flawless as is my stock Evo battery.
Oh yeah, kudos to anyone that read the whole thing hahaha
well if the question is if you can get good battery life on gingerbread then I get pretty good battery life with MikG 2.52 and the aggressive freedom kernel. I also use Juice Defender... You can download it from the market.
I also have been on Mik. Great rom. I used to think it was just SBC but it may be more. Froyo just doesn't seem to require as many resources to produce. Battery for me just seems better overall. I'm 18 hrs @ 65% on an extended w pretty decent use. Dunno. Just seems like going forward in os should translate into better everywhere. I thought SBC would get to gingersense. All I heard for months was waiting for source. Then source gets here and it must be harder to make work as well as the froyo kernels.
Really just kinda wondering others experiences
Ironically, I was sitting here last night thinking the same thing. On a good Froyo ROM, Koni Elite III for example, with NetArchy SBC HAvs More, and a conditioned 3500mAH battery, I could use my phone for 2-3 days without charging.
My setup below is OK, but still, I play a simple game like Klondike Solitaire for an hour and I'm down 15%. A 20 minute phone will make a major drop and texting someone for an hour or so is good for about a 20% drop
I have been on CM6 for almost a month. Great battery life and awesome 3G speeds. Something I was not getting with any GB ROM. By the way, using the stock kernel.

I made a test a couple weeks ago, just trying to compare Synergy with and without an SBC charge. Without any question SBC makes a huge difference in longevity of daily use charges. The thread is back a few pages and makea for good reading.

I think it has a lot to do with the kernel you decide to use.

What's the best ron for battery life.

What's the best rom for battery life i like cm7 but wireless tether and GPS doesn't work on cm7. I am currently running synergy kingdom rom its good but the battery life sucks.

There is a gps fix for cm7 also y use a different app for hotspot all aosp roms come with a built in hotspot?
Sent from my Gruesomes Rom using XDA App
+1 both GPS and Hotspot work fine for me on CM7
Honestly, the best battery life I've ever had was with Kings Bliss Sense 3.5, which is a bit unfortunate considering it's fairly buggy and unreliable.
I switched back to Synergy because it's reliable and it's a Sense ROM, but my battery life won't last even a day now.
(I've tried a million different kernels with Synergy already, none of them improved it significantly)
The best I ever had was with Koni III and NetArchy SBC HAVs More kernel.
Unbelievably, I could go days without recharging.
Stormy Day 1.0
Stormy Day is an amazing 3.0 rom that gives me an amazing battery life. also if you have your wifi on and running if found it to double the life
i agree with nerdyboy, the stormy day rom or any of the varities are good battery saver roms, they have tweaked it allot, i used to go 4-6 hrs on a reg sense 3.0 rom. now i go 8-10 hrs. and thats with usage. they know their stuff.
CM7 works great for me. The GPS works first.e as well as the wireless tether. Keep CM7 and then start flashing different kernels and find out which one works best for the battery. I'm using the Poonkang kernel right now and its mediocre. Some of the toast kernels are pretty good as well as tiamat. I had one before that was amazing but for the life of me I can't remember which one it was.
