rom with best battery time - Desire General

I need help to find the right rom. Im interestet in a rom where battery time is the most important ting.

Get a Sense based rom and use a low voltage kernel like a 875mV.
Just to give you a heads up, I recently tried GingerVillian 1.7 and 3 or 4 hours of music would drop the battery extremely heavily but this was because i was constantly checking the screen.
I switched back to a senseHD rom because there are more battery efficient kernels than on most AOSP roms. Now I'm using SupeROM HD (I like senseHD) with its stock kernel but if you wanted a longer battery life than the standard one then you could just flash the latest HAVS kernel that uses 875mV.

I would suggest whether Oxygen, Redux or Gingervillain for you. They have known for their superb battery time.

I use redux v1.1.1 (gingerbread) with a low voltage kernel (875mV). The battery lasts about two days when i use it normal.
What you even can do is make a screen off profile with setCPU and set the maximum and minimum frequency to 245MHz.
Best regards

What is more important? Using the right ROM or using the right kernel?
I'm using Leedroid right now, but I still am very unhappy with my battery life (barely lasts 1 day)
I might try one of the roms mentioned above.

I loaded Leedroid on my wifes desire last night, overnight it lost 3% with wifi on. Sofar today after couple of calls (3 outgoing and 5 incomming) and sms's its standing on 76%. Not a good test but only info.

I would recommend the mini sense Rom that's based on teppics stock Rom. I get 2 days out on my phone.

For the RCMIXHD.
Salu2.

In my opinion, any AOSP Rom with low voltage kernel and using powersave mode

Sense Rom with good battery life

So guys, i definitely need a sense rom because of the look ( especially the music player, 3.0 lockscreen like in insertcoin and apps) and the fast writing speed of my sd card...
i tried leedroid, rc hd mix, maybe a froyo rom would be better? Or recoment a different kernel?
currently i use insertcoin ( newest stable release), but the battery is so bad i can hardly get a day out with normal use... wifi gps off brioghtness low...
can u tell me a good rom? would appreciate it
I find al GB ROMS have poor battery life then I changed the kernel to MANU's and it was much much better. Maybe try a different kernel?
can u recommend me a kernel?
Yeah this one is really good for me but is different experience for every user...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883598
Gingerbread-HAVS-AXI-CFS
Thx dude, i'll try this.
But i gotta 2 questions:
Can i return to my standart kernel (insertcoin eg) and how can i do this?
Is this kernel also compatible with insertcoin? (sense- based)
With Gingerbread I think the Reflex S is pretty OK for the battery or else it is possible to undervolt further.
Maybe you just need to calibrate your battery, if you change your ROM a lot. I use BatteryCalibration from Market and it seem to do the job.
Do i have to do a full wipe?
Battery calibration does not work for me D the percentage drop fast to 99% percent again and so on
Yeah, I would do a full wipe. Especially if you are moving between different ROM's.
So far, the AuraxTsense 8.4 (Android 2.2) was my favorite in terms of battery usage - but since moving to 2.3.3 based ROM's, my battery drops faster when using the phone, but lasts longer when in standby.
what would u recomment then? returning to froyo or stay with gingerbread?
Well, if Battery Life is your primary concern, you would probably get the best results with a Froyo ROM, since the kernels are further in development.
However, in terms of features etc. I think the Gingerbread is better. I personally like the Sense 3.0 improvements etc. So I am just crossing my fingers that battery life will gradually improve further
My experience is, that Gingerbread ROMs in general are battery hungry. As for sense ROMs i can say that LeeDroid suits me best regarding battery life. At the moment im on oxygen and get a day out of it with normal use.
Best results with battery life i had with LeeDroid Froyo ROM (v2.4 i think). Smartass governor and screen off - 245mhz max/min sometimes got me 2 days without charging.
Maybe this helps you finding a solution.
By the way, you can also improve your battery life by turning off the various Auto Sync features, for example Sense Sync, Facebook, Weather etc...
So i've flashed reflex s now, hoping the battery will do better tahn insertcoin.
If not, i will probably change to leedroid froyo- are there any important disadvantages for froyo roms? like speed or something?
i've tried many sense roms and never got a good battery life
now using MIUI rom .. its GUI is close to sense and good battery life
24h and i still have 40% off battery on InsertCoin 1.0.8 CM7,wifi is always on,data is enable, set brightness to auto. Try charge your desire to 100% turn it off, connect charger again and wait till green led is up,than turn on your phone to fastboot menu (power and volume down) and clean battery stats, reeboot. Also You can use battery calibration app from market

thx c: which rom do ya use?
At first, the recommended manu kernel won't be working with sense roms, because it's an aosp kernel (so made for aosp roms).
Second, using setcpu and setting a screen off profile for it really improves standby battery power. I set it mine to:
128 - 442 mhz ondemand governor
Third, the display is the biggest and fastest battery drainer, no matter which rom you are using.

If you use smartass governor, you do not have to set an extra profile for screen off. This governor automatically uses the min cpu frequency when the screen is off.
smartass governor – is based on the concept of the interactive governor.
I have always agreed that in theory the way interactive works – by taking over the idle loop – is very attractive. I have never managed to tweak it so it would behave decently in real life. Smartass is a complete rewrite of the code plus more. I think its a success. Performance is on par with the “old” minmax and I think smartass is a bit more responsive. Battery life is hard to quantify precisely but it does spend much more time at the lower frequencies.
Smartass will also cap the max frequency when sleeping to 352Mhz (or if your min frequency is higher than 352 – why?! – it will cap it to your min frequency). Lets take for example the 528/176 kernel, it will sleep at 352/176. No need for sleep profiles any more!

I am having the same problem with GB roms no matter how many times you calibrate the battery there is no improvement .

Need stable Rom and kernel

I have been flashing time and getting same results. I love the way they look but I am looking for stabality and speed, and of course everything running. Hell, why not throw in compact using less space. Right now I'm running mikG- sense 2-1-v1.04. It's okay, but lacks speed, a drains battery. (no phone doesn't stay awake). So any Rom and kerenel come to mind that would fit my phone, please help, thanks.

May I suggest SalvageMod v1.2.1? It's basically pure Gingerbread (AOSP) and it's fast, stable and everything works. Battery drainange, of course, is subjective and based on usage for the most part. You can download it here. May I also suggest you use either LauncherPro or ADW for even faster speeds?

for any of the Gingerbread, Sense-based ROMs, battery life sux. hopefully the source code for the kernel will be released soon so that you can flash a custom kernel for those ROMs and make the battery life skyrocket!
as for space....i suggest using either VaelPak's Senseless ROM or any AOSP-based ROM (e.g. MIUI, CM7, Deck's, etc.). those usually take up less space compared to the Sense-based ones (VaelPak's is Sense-based but with sense taken out, hence "Senseless")
flash a custom kernel on top of those ROMs (netarchy for Vaelpak; CyanogenMODs, Tiamats, SavagedZen, etc. for any AOSP) and you will see improvement with battery life.

You can have a great battery life, and speed improvement, in gb sense based roms like GingerAleV4 & MikG-v2.00, I tested it, I installed SetCPU with following settings:
*****************************
Optimized Values (*=On x=Off):
Main:
998400-245000 Performance *Set on Boot
Profiles:
*Enable xNotifications
- Screen Off 245-245 PowerSave Priority 100
- Temp > 42C 245-245 PowerSave Priority 95
- Battery < 25% 460-245 PowerSave Priority 90
- Battery < 70% 883-245 OnDemand Priority 65
- Battery < 85% 960-245 OnDemand Priority 55
- Charging 1190-245 Performance Priority 45

High AOS, cell standby and idle on omfgb?

I have been browsing these forums for a long time since I owned a hero and flashing roms and stuff is not new to me so I understand the basic functions quite well.
My question is, is there anything I can do to lower these usages using aosp roms? So far using the latest omfgb nightly, my battery has been qoing quite well(13 total hours but that's with a mix of heavy use) using tiamat 3.3.7 SBC kernel with no undervolting or overclocking using the smartass scale. But I feel it could be better without such high usage. After a fresh charge, my cell standby and idle are about 50/50. The only other thing I can think of doing is turning off the proximity sensors(but I can't find the zip). Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I am on HW003 and all the latest radios and pri. I am not sure about the NV but as soon as I find the latest one I will be sure to flash it and update any changes

If battery isn't draining more then usual your fine u have those #s and no issues
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Don't worry so much. Your battery has to be used some way, and after 13 hours that's just what uses it most. It isn't to say that they are using too much and you need to fix it, because your battery can only last so long without UVing and such. You could put your phone in airplane mode, but that is pointless.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Now after a few days running this rom battery life seems to be decreasing even though nothing changes with the battery use. Keep in mind I I only got 13 hours with 8 hours of my phone being completely idle(gotta sleep sometime lol). I ran Pandora for an hour then sent texts here and there throughout the day until it died. Never used GPS. For some reason it doesn't matter what rom I use, battery usually drains at the same rate as described. No matter what tweaks I make to try and increase it

Better battery life on Sense rom rather than AOSP?

So i've been a Miui user for a while and decided to try a Sense 3.5 rom.
Running with this rom for a few months, I've noticed it having much better battery life than i hear people complaining about.
Anyways, i decided to go back to Miui to see the new changes, but the battery life is rubbish compared to my Sense rom..
My Miui rom goes around 20-25 hours, with Miui_au and ManU 2.1 kernel, and my sense goes 25-40 hours! Rom is GFan-BlissAIO with gingercakes 0.8e kernel.
Miui underclocked 128-844 mhz
Sense 128-998 undervolted with 25 mv at each frequency.
Is my settings which is the reason, cause aosp should be more battery preserving shouldn't it?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
so are you or are you not undervolting ManU? if you're not thats probably the reason.
I always find 1.4 a bit better for battery.
No undervolting the ManU, seeing no apps seem to allow me to. Tried andrev_oc, with the daemon controller and several other apps on the market, no luck.
Anyways thanks for the quick reply mate

Yep... I find my own stock gingerbread sense is much better on battery life on standby than aosp roms... Regardless of under volt. When I'm using the phone its about the same.
Use incredicontrol for manu undervolt.

[Q] Best HOX kernel for battery life (smooth ui no gaming)

What is the best kernel for getting the best battery life? I have tried many and the most screen time I am able to achieve is 3-4 hours. This is better than most users but I am sure that getting 5 hours could be done with a kernel that has proper power savings. The phone is overpowered and ramps up its cpu for simple tasks like sending whatsapps. Also is there a kernel/rom combo for achieving the best battery life that work great together? So far the best for me was the Renovate 3.0 rom running a stock kernel reaching 4 hours of screen time. I am currently running maXimus 2.2 with faux 006m and getting around 3 and a half hours of screen time.
Thanks,

Yes and even purchased his app to see if turning off cores and under clocking would help. His kernel has some serious wifi issues so I could not keep it. But also the cores would turn on even when they are set not to. Seems that it is not perfected yet.

I think I have the newest version. Baseband 2.1204.127.19
i diint want to open a new thread neither i want to hijack this thread. my questions is somewhat similar to the opening post with only few changes. i like to play games in this awesome screen. i use wifi for an hour or so. i need 12 hrs of battery life with around 30mins of light gaming (temple run/stick cricket/fruit ninja etc) what romand kernel should i use which would give me optimum battery life? currently i am on ARHD8.1 with stock kernel.
Try n3ocort3x's kernels. He's developing his kernels for the most battery life without compromising the ui smoothness and performance. Does pretty well on sticking your custom underclocked values and does a great job on undervolting.

I saw this but it says 1.29 base for stock rom. I am running the 2.15 leak. Maybe I will put a JB build using his kernel repacked for one.
