What keyboards do you guys use on your evo's. Custom/Market or even stock.
I like switching keyboards every now and again and i used at some point every one on the market. Any roms just for keyboards?? don't know if thats a big thing or not
Downloading now! Well this remove root? Which version of sense?
Oh wait, this thread is in the wrong section!
I use swype beta btw, it's awesome!
I use swype most the time but usually end up cursing it for having to hit back so often. I'm hoping blindtype will be released soon but if not there is supposed to be another one very similar to it that is being worked on.

SwiftKey scares me. It frequently knows what I'm going to type before I do.
I used to use swype until amazon had swiftkey as it's free app of the day... If I would have known how good it was when I first heard about it months ago i would have gladly paid for this app. it does get kinda scary how it can seemingly read your mind!

I think that I'm allowed to post this...but I recently downloaded a cracked beta 2.10 version of Swype HVGA I think? There were two choices HVGA and WVGA, not sure what the difference is?
It was working fine for a day, and then about an hour ago I was replying to a text and I couldn't even get it to type the word I was trying to type, or any word relatively close for that matter. It should be noted that when I turned my Evo sideways to landscape mode that I would recieve and error message saying that it was not the right size for my phone as well. After this happened, I tried clearing the data and uninstalling-reinstalling. When I would click on the text box after re-installation, swype would just keep force closing.
Any ideas of why this is happening?
hah you do know they are on swype 2.6..... right now right? either way, google is your friend. i also googled it and found.... nothing. i believe i am using hvga right now with no problems. if someone more knowledgable knows the difference, an answer would be much appreciated.
and also, maybe 2.1 was just locked. they do that from time to time (swype bastards)
I use the wvga version and haven't had any problems.

Actually they are on 2.10 right now...that's what I'm using. WVGA is the correct version for the EVO. I haven't had any issues and I've been running it for three days.

It's not 2.1...it's 2.10.52.13753.t100, which is newer than 2.6 and includes voice to text. The numbering is a little confusing, as it should be 3.** if they had gone by the normal build numbering system.

No, they just released 2.10 beta.
Just a heads up
It makes no difference to me but there are some MODS around here that are really uptight about posting links to Swype. Just giving you guys a heads up so you don't get banned.
I get it! 2.10 not 2.1 or 2.1.0. Version numbers work different than decimals I guess. Could someone pm me (or email, [email protected]) a link to the 2.10 wvga? Thanks
Just a random thought that came to mind, but since Swype isn't technically ported specifically for the evo or it's screen size more specifically, wouldn't this greatly affect the accuracy of it?

Hey just a heads up...the mods don't tolerate people posting links to warez on here, especially swype. I'm very suprised that this thread isn't shut down yet
Hello fellow forum buddies. I have a Samsung Epic 4G that is currently rooted on Stock DI18. I tend to switch back and forth to the DK28 leak and flash roms quite often when I get bored or what not lol. I have a gift card left over from the holidays with $3.41 left on it (just a regular visa gift card). Since I'm probably never going to use $3.41 at any store or restaurant I thought hey I could use it on the Android Market. I have most of the paid apps for my rooted device that are a must have except widget locker (still debating). Wonder if there is any other good - great apps out there that are a must have for this phone. I also have ADW Launcher EX and Launcher Pro Plus. Just thought I'd throw this question out there to see what I could find. I appreciate everyone in this forum and what you do that help me and others learn about this phone and other phones. On a side note I found out today that my wife and I are having a little baby girl!!! Thanks for all your help.

Ok, I guess I'm dense: I've used ICS for a bit on this device with a couple of the international betas. I've also used the ICS launcher from TeamSyndicate or whatever...
Please lmk what is so groundbreaking and so different in the way ICS handles taskswitching..
If I remember correctly (and I easily might NOT be remembering this right), all ICS does is present your recent apps in a nicer, larger, vertical list after pressing the button for it once instead of the way Gingerbread handles it (presenting them in a grid after long-pressing home).
If there's more to it, please let me know.
If there's not, then you basically started a thread that's complaining about the fact that you have to long-press a button right now, and that you really can't wait until you only have to simply press a button, because that would make your life so much easier.
Did I miss something?

Yup pretty much. Also there arr settting. In launchers that can enable. Up to 16apps or something to be listed in that menu. Same thing, just a few more appz and it looks slightly different. How ever ICS does ring lots of new things in a ALL IN ONE download that plays nicelu with each other. Before you would have to flash several things and spe. D some serious time changing settings to get what ICS already offers which in its self is awesome. Especially for people who have a line and cant always takr the time to flash tons of things and config the more mods everytime a rom requires you to wipe data which gets old really damn quick in my book. Maybe im just getting older or i have owned android too long but i dont like re setting my phone back up. I didnt use to mind it and now i dread it. Atleast even when switxhing between different roms on samsung for the most part you never need to wipe data. In that respect compared to HTC i find Samsung much better and that makes the device worth it right there. With HTC you would loose everything all the time when flashing new roms or even updates. Not to mention you would loose things like your WiMax key's and have to get a nee device just to use Sprints ****ty 4g agan.... Hahaa ok ok its not that funny, more sad about HTC but laughing is how i cope with terrible old memoryz

Im so dyslexic i had to fly to a neigboring island every single day to go to a school to specially for dyslexic kids. I cant help it. I do spell check but i dont see words the same as normal people. You guys are dumb and mean. I even tried using auto correct on my Swift X keyboard but i often spell words so off it outs in some completely different word than i want so it ended up being harder to read than if i dont use it. You shouldnt judge people when you dont know whag personal challanges they have or whats going on with them. Just ignore me instead of insulting me. Im very proud of the challanges i have over come to the extent i have over come them. I have accomplished several things that teachers said i wouldnt be able to do. Things like reading and writing well enough to get through the basics of life. I have learned to build custom desktop computers, started my own VHS to DVD converting company and am a semi pro downhill and free style mountain biker. XDA is full of dicks that say things on here they would never say to some ones face. Get a life and treat people with the respect and love that you would like people to treat you. Then again you may not have much self respect or dignity by your actions of how you treat others.

Rooting is in simple terms unlocking your phone. KB is just an abbreviation for keyboard. ICS is an abbreviation for Ice Cream Sandwich the most current version of Android which our phone does not officially have, but thanks to this development community has unofficially.

Rooting isn't bad. It can end up being the best thing you've ever done to your device. It shouldn't mess anything up as long as you do things correctly and choose a good solid rom. Sprint isn't cheaping you out of spell check. Most smartphone keyboards (if not all) have built it auto correction and/or some "sort" of spell check so it isn't necessary to have a program strictly for spell check alone. The ICS keyboard is just newer software that works better and faster which is why it was suggested.

I need my phone for my business, I’m a computer hack well I don’t do that for a living or maybe I do..lol!
I need a stable ROM were almost everything works, I need to tether my laptop to my phone so I can VPN to my clients (I do have PDANET which I bought and works just fine for me).
I need the phone for eMail, messaging and oh yeah phone calls to work all the time.
I love tweaks just like the rest of you the more the better!
I just flashed Calkulin’s ICS 1.6 which seems very stable after 3 days but lacks tweaks.

You're welcome if it isn't exactly what you need you might be able to ask kobridge and get his help.

Alright, now you're pushing it! LOL Just kidding, I'm not aware of a headset button issue. Maybe someone else who is can chime in.

I did a whole thing on this issue back when I first bought this phone last september. If you have a headset that has a button to pause music and answer the phone then its a well maybe not a big thing but it is a thing that always bugged me! Thanks for the reply!

Ohhh, okay I can see that being an issue if it isn't functioning correctly. Haven't seen any recent mention of it (until now) but I'll keep my eye out in case I run across it.
Its funny but that old thread is still alive after all this time: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348504
Now I just have to find my HeadSet!

Blu Kuban is what all the cool kids use, and it's super versatile. It's really stable, customizable and has built in tweaks. Rujelus22 constantly updates it so that it's running in top form. Could be just what you're looking for.

+1 on the Goodness. I'm a big fan of Mijjahz and Team Nocturnal in general. I'm running the Blend ICS 4.0.4 FF18 right now, and its amazing. Highly suggestable. Don't know why I didn't mention it sooner.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm pretty happy with Calkulins.e4gt.2.rom.v1.6. It seems very stable and so far everything works plus after a few charges the battery life is pretty good. I installed Apex Launcher and it tweaks everything!:victory:

You can't go wrong with Calkulin's work losing him to another phone/carrier was a real loss for the E4GT community.
