further explain??? What do you mean, what about spell check?
Well that's supposed to say didn't haha.
Do you mean on the actual keyboard or feature on a on-screen KB because, they all have it except for physical KB but still on the screen you can still correct it.
both i want to spell check on my messages and emails, i dont know how to do it if there is a way

Usually the on screen keyboard will auto correct if not give you options to see what your typing.

Try to go to the market and download a 3rd party KB app. For ex. Swype or Slide it, etc... Swift key.

If you want to or care 2 you could root and then hop on ICS? Its pretty nice and smooth and the KB has that feature.

Rooting is in simple terms unlocking your phone. KB is just an abbreviation for keyboard. ICS is an abbreviation for Ice Cream Sandwich the most current version of Android which our phone does not officially have, but thanks to this development community has unofficially.

Rooting isn't bad. It can end up being the best thing you've ever done to your device. It shouldn't mess anything up as long as you do things correctly and choose a good solid rom. Sprint isn't cheaping you out of spell check. Most smartphone keyboards (if not all) have built it auto correction and/or some "sort" of spell check so it isn't necessary to have a program strictly for spell check alone. The ICS keyboard is just newer software that works better and faster which is why it was suggested.

Ok, I guess I'm dense: I've used ICS for a bit on this device with a couple of the international betas. I've also used the ICS launcher from TeamSyndicate or whatever...
Please lmk what is so groundbreaking and so different in the way ICS handles taskswitching..
If I remember correctly (and I easily might NOT be remembering this right), all ICS does is present your recent apps in a nicer, larger, vertical list after pressing the button for it once instead of the way Gingerbread handles it (presenting them in a grid after long-pressing home).
If there's more to it, please let me know.
If there's not, then you basically started a thread that's complaining about the fact that you have to long-press a button right now, and that you really can't wait until you only have to simply press a button, because that would make your life so much easier.
Did I miss something?

Yup pretty much. Also there arr settting. In launchers that can enable. Up to 16apps or something to be listed in that menu. Same thing, just a few more appz and it looks slightly different. How ever ICS does ring lots of new things in a ALL IN ONE download that plays nicelu with each other. Before you would have to flash several things and spe. D some serious time changing settings to get what ICS already offers which in its self is awesome. Especially for people who have a line and cant always takr the time to flash tons of things and config the more mods everytime a rom requires you to wipe data which gets old really damn quick in my book. Maybe im just getting older or i have owned android too long but i dont like re setting my phone back up. I didnt use to mind it and now i dread it. Atleast even when switxhing between different roms on samsung for the most part you never need to wipe data. In that respect compared to HTC i find Samsung much better and that makes the device worth it right there. With HTC you would loose everything all the time when flashing new roms or even updates. Not to mention you would loose things like your WiMax key's and have to get a nee device just to use Sprints ****ty 4g agan.... Hahaa ok ok its not that funny, more sad about HTC but laughing is how i cope with terrible old memoryz

You guys are dumb and mean. I even tried using auto correct on my Swift X keyboard but i often spell words so off it outs in some completely different word than i want so it ended up being harder to read than if i dont use it. You shouldnt judge people when you dont know whag personal challanges they have or whats going on with them. Just ignore me instead of insulting me. Im very proud of the challanges i have over come to the extent i have over come them. I have accomplished several things that teachers said i wouldnt be able to do. Things like reading and writing well enough to get through the basics of life. I have learned to build custom desktop computers, started my own VHS to DVD converting company and am a semi pro downhill and free style mountain biker. XDA is full of dicks that say things on here they would never say to some ones face. Get a life and treat people with the respect and love that you would like people to treat you. Then again you may not have much self respect or dignity by your actions of how you treat others.

Then don't use it. It is an Alpha which means a lot of things won't work. Put your phone on stock or a stable custom TW ROM. Or CM7 is in release candidate so try that.

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
An Alpha ROM by definition is unapologetically cantankerousness at random for any reason and at any time. The "fix" is to wait for an RC of the CM9 ROM and then revisit this issue at that time. At this point the devs just want to get the core system stable and efficient....or so says me.
A quick trip to the market will find that "tap tap," besides having the 2nd most juvenile name in the history of software, also seems to be suffering wide spread force close problems with any and all versions of Android.
If you really feel the need to yank all of your hair out try contacting the game publisher to see if "tap tap" is ICS compatible in the first place.

Yes, the app is known to be bugged across several platforms. But it is safe to say that many apps will have difficulty on CM9 being an Alpha. Lots of things are still in development on it. Like Telenav 7 instantly Force closes, but Telenav 6 runs, but may force close occasionally.

I wasn't trying to be funny, I was making a point. Installing Gingerbread is going backwards, in aesthetics and functionality. I'm sure if you really want gingerbread so bad you can find a GB theme. That way you have the look and feel of GB with the improvements of ICS. Or install a different launcher or custom rom that is to your liking.

What did I just read here?
I get ur point and I get what's the point in doing it.no it doesn't make sense but I'd like to have it.just making a more sense based or gengerbread Based rom would be more ideal than actually downgrading.or like u said a theme or something would be a good alternative.
Wouldn't downgrading require you to add aftermarket menu/home/back/search keys to the Nexus?
It's hard enough trying to find a case that fits the extended battery.
[insert mandatory 'why not Cupcake?' joke here]
most likely it would be possible since the gn runs pure android. the only issue i could see, besides the soft keys, would be the drivers. no gingerbread drivers exist for the galaxy nexus. youd either have to write/compile the drivers from scratch or create a hybrid gingerbread/ics rom(which would defeat the whole purpose of running gingerbread since it wouldnt be gingerbread anymore).

Who said anything about insurance? I'm very good friends with the store manager. He always performs a device exchange as long as it hasnt had water damage. And no, I'm pretty sure the issues I'm having are real as pressing the power button and having the unlock screen process done but captive buttons not work for 5 seconds or more, isn't a bad flash. Even on shubs one click to FF18.
Btw check list done.... settings are always left stock. Phone seems okay unless I can surgicly open it to check on internals lol... ! Yes I'm okay myself.other than my messed up fist from a drunk fist fight.
I've had the same issue with most ICS E4GT roms, and doubt it is anything user related. Don't pay attention to the trolls. I've fully wiped my phone and it made no difference. Hopefully someone can figure it out. It's pretty annoying having to turn the screen on a off twice to get the capacitive buttons working.

You think they'll push an update to the phone to fix the issue?

I've had the same issue with most ICS E4GT roms, and doubt it is anything user related. Don't pay attention to the trolls. I've fully wiped my phone and it made no difference. Hopefully someone can figure it out. It's pretty annoying having to turn the screen on a off twice to get the capacitive buttons working.

Thank you, glad I'm not the only one who has this issue. The screen on and off is so far the only solution to this so far...

You can if you use the latest agat kernel built from source but remember not all developers have built in the new safe kernel! So you would always have to odin the kernel if it isnt baked with the ROM.
For reference, here is the link to source built kernel.

Ok heres my input. I believe that its a combination of software and hardware. Remember response time of soft buttons depends on how stable the rom is and also whats running at the time they where pressed. Ok say like you have a few apps it the background running and you turn off your screen. Once the screen come on the buttons may take a second to come on because the screen has more of a priorty than the soft button. Its all in how you look at it. And with apps running it slows that process down greatly because a combination of the proccesor and ram being used. Remember not notice but our soft buttons have a back light and they are press sensitive. So with them working together plus all the other stuff i explained timing would be off. But think about it. Lol is it really a depressing ordeal lol. I actually witness it and continue on without even thinking about it. Sorry for rambling lol
Have any VM US users installed the official update from Kies for their "Samsung Galaxy II" (Epic 4G Touch) yet? Have you had any problems? Has anything improved? The two problems that I read about so far are:
- Google Now closing quickly. Seems there is a fix by clearing cache or reset.
- BT not stable for some audio devices.
How is your battery life, has it improved, I read one report on the Sprint device that it did.
Please let me know of your experience with the official VM Jelly Bean, id GB28 US update from Kies, good or bad, thanks.

I wanted to see if anyone is having any problems before installing it or had anything good to say about new features. I am not on root so I can't flash back to a prior version.
Answers like yours are not helpful.

Then you are out of luck. If you don't want to take the time and do for yourself, no one will take the time to do for you.

Um, using odin takes a minute or 2 at most plus the wait time for the install which is less than 10 minutes. What's really a pain is lazy people sitting around with their hand out like that dude on the interstate on ramp.

ditch the entitlement and you might get a bit farther in life.
Guys, I didn't mean to start a flame war, just wanted to get some opinions of people on VM US SPH-D710VMUB using the GB28 update. Thanks.

You didn't start a flame war. It was far from it. Another user brought that on himself.
Now, you could install what you are asking about and be the first to officially report back on your fondings. That's what I meant with my first post. I hope there are no hard feelings.

Similarly, i only meant to say that even if you are dissatisfied with the update, there are easy methods readily available to go back to the ROM you are on now.
You asking if anyone else has tried the ROM is fine. The other user complaining that it's too difficult flies in the face of everything that xda is about.

Could someone post a link to that rom. I would like to look at it.
Also does anyone know if Virgin Mobile has Visual voice mail build in, or are they still on the dial in / old indicator style of voice mail.
Thanks.:fingers-crossed:

Hi wizard, this thread is about the official Samsung update via Kies. I am not sure about VM-specific ROMs as I am not rooted.
Currently on stock ICS, Virgin has visual voice mail but it only seems to work sometimes for me. I am not sure how it will work on JB or if it will even exist on the official JB. I am pretty sure some vendor-specific features like Sprint ID and Virgin Mobile ID are lost in the official JB release.

I guess I miss understood the thread. The title implied there was a E4gT with a Virgin Mobile GB28 based rom in existence.
I am looking for a phone.apk, that used the non-visual voice mail system, which is comparable with the E4GT. I was hopping I might be able to get it from this rom.

Are you unfamiliar with the One Clicks?
The name is accurate...One click.
If it takes you more than 5 minutes to read how to click a button once, you may want to stay on the stock rom.
