Hi guys. I searched but I don't think Anyone has asked this before. Ok, this may seem dumb and i'm sorry but, I'm wanting to get a better battery for my Excalibur but have a question first. Would it be possible to use a battery that's higher than 1050mah and 3.7v? If so, what's the maximum volts/amps I can use without frying the Excalibur? I've found a few batteries that would fit but are a lot more powerful than the original Excalibur battery.
Thanks for any help you all can provide.
Battery capacity is limited by the size and the chemistry used. Li-Ion delivers 3.7 volt - you cannot change that and the device will not work with others. You are simply stuck with what is available. Try to get an original battery, they usually supply the best capacity.
Cheap 3.rd party only brag about their capacity that they never deliver - they simply lie to you straight face. If you are curious (and have some knowledge about the topic) follow my signature.
i am not advising this and do it your own risk, but, i used to use the battery from my htc s310, i had to use a little pressure to pop it in the dash. but once its in, it gives you a longer battery life than the original dash battery. you cant charge it while its the dash though, you have to put back in the s310 to charge it.
Thanks Tobbbie for the useful info. Much appreciated!
Kachman, I don't think I'd want to go that far as to having to switch a battery between phones every time I need to charge it. >< I've done some research since my last post and now have another question - I've heard about the 1300mah batteries but I don't want to have to get a bigger door for my phone. Is the 1300mah okay to use for the S620 and will it fit in with the factory door? If not, what is the absolute highest that will still fit in the original door?
Thanks.
Why not just make a battery hack? USB plug soldered to a homemade battery pack. Then plug it into the USB port on the bottom on the phone.
Each battery is 1.5 volts (AAA, AA, C, D), thus you would need at least three connected in series. 1.5 x 3 = 4.5 volts. I would think the extra .8 volts may not hurt the phone. Electrical components have a tolerance for voltage variances.
Only way to find out is to test it, unless you take the extra mile to design something to reduce the voltage before it goes into the phone.
I remember Stylez advocating long time ago for a prominent Simplo 1550 mAh battery. May be you can find it.

for HTC, the maximum value I know is about 2000mAh

I have a standard 960 mAh and the 1550 mAh in my S620, They both came with the phone when it was new (From BT) The 1550 mAh is much better (Longer lasting) but does require a new back cover which is HUGE compared to the smaller one.
No idea where to buy the battery or cover from though, Sorry.

Hey Vovantuong, how many mha provides the Nokia batteries. Does it makes any difference the fact that pin 3 doesn´t hit any contactor?
sorry for late replay. battery BL5c = 1020mAh. BL5CB = 800mAh
pin 3 not contactor Nokia battery because if contactor, s620 can not boot
note: when use Nokia battery can not charge
i use this method and satisfied

I'd rather buy another phone with higher cap battery I bought elf for it's size. If they manage to fit a high cap battery in the same case that would be more attractive to me
I have such a contraption for my universal. I wouldnt buy one for my touch, unless is has a the same form factor as the original.

Well if it is 90% larger then I expect it to last 90% longer or so.
I think extended batteries are the ugliest add-on to a phone.
Lol... i´ve seen a back-up battery (1100 mAh) from this manufacturer (got the same label) on ebay a couple of days before. Selling price was 1,99 Euro (!!!) without shipping.
And now tell me, what quality you can expect for a price like this? Maybe you should order a fire extinguisher too .

The new CDMA Touch will have a more powerful battery to handle the 400 mhz and 3G (1150 mAh vs 1100 mAh). If they are the same size then I will buy one of those batteries and stick it in my current Touch.
Yep. Seems to be the better idea, if 50 mAh makes the difference.
Rather buy a spare than have that hump on the back. So far I've been pleasantly surprised with the life I've been getting out of the Touch.
Or you can try this:
http://www.proporta.fr/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=2725&t_mode=des
Really cool, and you can charge your device and other like iPhone, etc. it's bigger than a spare battery, but also lasts longer, you can take this and your phone and it'll hold a week maybe
Damn, I wish I could use photoshop.

well, i give then kudos for trying at least but that sharp step on the back of my touch to accommodate the bigger battery is not exactly what i would want .
If i am working long periods on my touch i just plug it into the mains and use it while its charging for now until at better battery (with same size) come out on the market, its just a matter of time.
Hii everyone..can we use the galaxy note battery in S2..? is there any size difference..? If its same then a 2500mAh battery can increase the battery life of the phone..

I thought this post would have been more productive such as you having found out that the battery sizes are same with different capacity. Unfortunately you ain't got jack!
IMO though, there isn't a chance that the note's battery will fit being that it is a 5" device so I presume there is more space for a larger battery.

Lol, I am sure he meant the dimensions..
As an example, SGS had 1500mah , but when SGS [GT-I9003] came with 1650 mah, it was possible to fit its battery in the SGS [GT-I9100]..
This was probably what OP was asking.

Don't mind the flamers. A good general rule is, the higher the mah, the bigger it HAS to be with our current technology and manufacturing methods.
Don't be fooled by fake batteries saying they have much more capacity than the original without adding considerable size... they are always low quality fakes that usually have even lower capacity than the original :O
In general its best to stay away from cheap batteries on eBay, but there's one exception. The anker 1900mah batteries fit into the stock battery door (same slim phone profile) but provide a bit more mah. I personally tested them and they are great value. 2x 1900mah batteries + one external charger for around $20!! Now I never have to plug in my phone I just keep one battery in the charger, one in my phone, one in my pocket (I have three, including the original). Just make sure you get the original anker charger, not the cheap black charger. There have been problems with those I heard.
Note- I am not affiliated with anker just trying to get the word out feels nice not caring about battery life.
Considering the Samsung 2000mAh battery is physically bigger than the stock 1650mAh battery, there's no way the 2500mAh battery will be the same size.
Having said that, the pin and physical layout might fit (i haven't tried), but you won't be able to fit the back cover assuming the battery is thicker.
No, it is a different sized battery. Same width and depth but a good centimeter longer.
(A friend of mine has the note, first thing I tried was 'borrowing' the battery!)
Nice thought, and maybe as an external mod, but it would never fit inside the Sii casing.
Anyone heard of this product called "Swiss Charger GPower 1500 mAh Rechargeable Battery" for Samsung Galaxy S II? Any reviews about it?
it looks very nice but cant find any reviews on it, would be keen to see the quality of it
I have been using this product. It is good...it charges your battery to almost 60% from complete 0..very useful while travelling...
Plus with its box it accompanies a PC-Phone cable and 1 scratch guard.
Swiss Charger GPower
Hi
I have been using the Swiss Charger GPower for more than 3 months now,
Pros
- Does the job of adding extra battery backup
- adds 40% more battery backup
- give the phone a bit of protection
Cons
- the sleekness of S2 is lost
- makes the phone heavy a bit but extra battery time is worth it
Issues I am facing
- I have a S2, GT9100G, 2.3.6 stock none rooted device, i used to find that the USB connectivity with my widows 7 64 bit was not stable,
- just after 5 min the device would not work and the driver will show "device not responding"
- removing the USB cable, and reconnecting brings back the connection
- to hold the connection, I had to keep my finger moving on the Phone screen looked as if when phone goes to sleep, the USB conenction was not waking up
I contacted the Samsung service - and as a solution the reflashed my handset, things worked fine and my phone was connecting normally with no failure
but
when i put it back in the Swiss charger and try to connect, i have the same issue - so the original issue was not with the device but with the charger
has anyone faced a similar problem? what is a possible solution?
Will appreciate a reply as changing between covers might take its toll on the phone
Cheers
hie i bought this swiss charger yesterday in india..
it started well showed 2 dots of charge level...
i utilised it to charge my sgs2..
bt aft dat it didnt showed anything..
its not showing battery level even aft keepin on charge whole night with my cell..
pls suggest me how to charge o replace this product...
Dear Dholyabhai,
When you press the power button of GPower, it shows the blue indicator that it is charging, the amount of charge at hand is indicated by the number of blue indicators. but after some time the indicator does not show up (I guess this is to save power wastage). you can still see the phone being charged in the Phone charge indicator on the notification bar.
when put the phone with Gpower to charge, it looks both get charged and since the battery now is 1500+1650 the time taken goes up a bit (depends on the charger trickle rate)
Cheers
can someone post pics of this

Today bought this device in Spain (25 euro), was looking for it before in Ukraine, but only available by preorder.
Nice looking while SG2 inside, soft touch quite durable as for me.
Everything else you may find on above youtube video. Definitely Gpower "must have" device for long range traveler as me.
that swiss charger does look ok , have you ever thought about one of these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet®-Du...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1335310567&sr=1-1
or even a desktop charger and spae battery??
that usb battery pack i linked should be good to charge your sgs2 over 3x from empty on stock battery
That one also good which i use now (see screenshots). The big advantage here that you can insert any capacity NiMh accumulators and also ordinary unrechargable batteries. Moreover if accumulators inserted they are charging slowly via sunlight panel + you got long lasting flashligt packed with 5 diods. Tested one time on 2500 mah NiMh accum. constant lighting time more than 24 hours.
So now I got extended battery 2000 mah + swiss charger 1500 mah + extra accum set 2500 mah = 6000 mah total power.
I bought this device 3 years ago in my city and still it selling here. Price is around 35$. It comes with commonly used adapters for Nokia, Ericsson, etc phones + microUSB+miniUSB.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up on this. Ordering one of each.
Would love to hear the results on the slim battery - wonder if it really reads higher than the stock 2500mah battery.
These seem awfully cheap. Is QCell a reputable manufacturer of batteries?

Your laptop battery is around ~15V, which is 4 to 5 times higher than the battery in the note.

Agreed. I get about 50% of 'stated' mAh on my Chinese batteries. Still a good buy, don't get me wrong, but I am going to pay the extra $15 to get a stock battery now.

4150mAh @ 3.7 volts though. I bet your laptop battery runs closer to 15 volts! THe more important figure is how many watt/hr's the battery can supply.
4150mAh @ 3.7v = 15.2625 watt/hr (4.125*3.7)
4150mAh @ 15v = 61.875 watt/hr (4.125*15)
anyone with the test reports of the same
not worth it.
I bought one of each and the slim one did not even last a day. And the thick one lasted exactly a day. I was surfing the net for about one hour constantly texting maybe a 2hr phn call total. And some games like temple run and asphalt. I still recommend the mugen 3400mah this lasted me a day and a half doing the same things.

The only way the battery could be "huge" is if Mugen develops an alternative design shell that replaces the original.
Here's their extended battery solution for the Sensation XL. It doubles the thickness of the phone. For every phone Mugen offers it for, it attaches where the original back cover goes. It would have to be a replacement shell on the One X.

There's no room in the One X chassis to expand the physical size of the battery so they could probably get no more than 25% more amperage in the same foot print if they went with just a more powerful than stock solution. The problem with any solution that requires opening the phone and using third party parts is that your warranty is voided.
If they offer a pogo connector solution that would be pretty cool. The only one available's pretty crappy so something high quality from Mugen would be popular.

Honestly, **** warranty if I can get an extra 25% out of my phone. Needless to say but I would jump at the chance if some reputable company comes out with a replacement internal battery for it, but I don't think it's very likely.

The only way to increase capacity without the size would be to replace the battery internally with another one with a higher capacity. This of course means removing the back cover plus removing the motherboard to get at the battery connector to replace it. This isn't for the faint hearted and could cause damage to the phone in the process, not to mention invalidate the warranty. Seems odd they promote such a system to increase capacity?
Perhaps they mean, 'doesn't increase the phone size much' by having a much slimmer lower capacity increase using a back cover.

Phil
