Hello everyone.. I downloaded the Myn 2.2 rls5 and when I downloaded the rom it asked if I wanted to install a bunch of add ons. I checked off which ones I wanted and now have no clue where I can go to retrieve it. I go into recovery and try finding the folder that has it but have no clue where it went. Does it install with the rom automatically or do I have to go to the folder and install the ones I wanted manually. Thanks everyone.

What exactly asked you to add add ons, and what did it want to add? I'm not sure what you mean. Was it after the rom installed, something asked you to update? If you already had Myn's downloaded, and then downloaded some add ons (say...using the warm updater, maybe is that what you mean?) then they would most likely be in a folder called 'downloads', on your sd card. I'm pretty sure that's where they'd go to. If not, look for a folder on your sd card labeled warm updater, or something like that. If you're talking about something else, please be a little more specific as to what it was that asked you to update, and what type of add ons you selected. thanks.

If you use rom manager to download myn it asks you which add one you want to install.

Being that I do not use ROM Manager or the Warm Updater for installation purposes, I'm going to take a guess at the addons I *think* you're referring to. If those addons are stuff like, Qik, Sprint TV, NASCAR app, etcetera, then they are located on your SD card inside a folder labeled warm_optional1 or something to that extent. If these are not what you are referring to, please be more specific so we can help locate them for you. Take care.

Yup. They are named Warm_2.2_Optional1..... I don't use the rom anymore but I still have that folder saved just in case
I actually had myn's warm 2.2 rls4 prior to updating to the most current RLS5. But when I updated to the rls5 file it first asks you to check off what add ons you want to download also with the ROM (ex) Hulu, web browser speed up, boot animations,kernals... so i checked off all the ones I wanted and installed the rom. I was trying to find the zip file of the web browser speed enhancer and have no clue where to find these files that i downloaded with the ROM. I appreciate all the responses. thank u

I am assuming you used the warm updater to update to RLS5. If so, that'll explain why those of us who wipe and flash via recovery haven't noticed the things yo mentioned during installation. As for the speed enhancement for the browser, it us referring to the spare parts app that was cooked into RLS5. Its host file is outdated thus the reason for the slow internet speed. Simply download and install the Spare Parts app from the market and when you initiate the app, either select "revert" for ads or "update hosts" for no ads and then reboot.

Doug, just so there's no confusion, I believe you meant to say the 'ad-free' app, to download and then hit revert, to take care of the hosts file issue

There should be a thread just where people can ask recommendations. I know theres people who change roms like every day lol.
Basically, I'm looking for a Sense rom, 2.2 but minus all the verizon junk, skype. Not using K9 for mail or handscent. I just want all the sense stuff minus all the other background crap that kills battery (yeah i know sense does too).
Install the latest froyo leak, then remove what you don't like with root explorer or adb after running enrEVOked Forever S=OFF.
I just downloaded root explorer, where are all the apks stored?
ok found them in system/app but when i try to delete the apks it says this file is read only. and ideas?

I'm going to throw in a vote for scuccia's ROM. It's the 8/1 leak with a bunch of fixes included.
I'm running baked snack 1.3, Is there anyway to reinstall the carpanel app on this rom? i don't see it in the Market..Any ideas?

Rip the .apk from a stock rom and then try and install it on the ROM you're using.
ok i'll try that. I'm not certain i know how so let me know if this process isn't correct...
Unzip the Rooted Stock 2.2 ROM
Search for carpanel.apk or somthing similar, then just move that to the sd card and install it.
Thanks. I'll let you know if this works!

For your convenience:
The HTC car panel
The other two are the google android car panel files (you need both)
I prefer the google one because it has a music button and works in landscape.
Let me know if I messed up and put the wrong files for any of them.
how exactly do you install that apk file after they are both on your sd card?

download astro file manager from the market.
This app allows you to browse files on your sd card.
Find those .apk files that you need to install.
and itll detect to install it once you launch them
***Side Note***
The first time you try to install an apk itll have a security/protection setting
Youll see what i mean when you attempt to open that file, itll ask you if you want to unblock ---> unblock by unchecking that box.
Thank you very much ! This was quite helpful my HTC desire.
Dude thanks! You rock! Seems that CoreDroid missed that element in their v8.1 ROM for HTC Inspire/Desire HD. I'll be trying this for sure.
Thanks for the links nhutpham, has helped out a family member who lost car panel due to the android 2.3.5 and sense 3.0 updates.
Likewise, my Amaze (2.3.4, Sense 3.0) simply didn't have an HTC Car Panel app. This is a little old, but works fine. Hopefully Sense 4.0 with the ICS update will come with the new car app I've seen demoed at MWC this week.
I tried on my own and after running it on new rom I get a "Parse error" type of message.
First I nandroid backup/swipe.
Then install the new rom(SPrint lovers 3.7)
Then I went right to the marketplace and downloaded TB again.
It tells me to go to settings/applications and check the install "Unknown apps install" button. so I do that.
Then I open TB again and go to batch, then I selected the restore all apps options and it gives me a error.
I read somewhere it says you have to install them one by one?
I read somewhere something about you have to mount a few programs or something?
I know I was able to do then in batch but try one by one it might work.

I see, well can you list the steps you would take to RESTORE the saved apps because I don't know if I did it the correct way or just forgot to install a side app.
well i figured it out from the link posted above, thanks. so i'll give it one more try.
I would recommend on buying the full version. Make sure you tap on PROBLEMS and then download BusyBox. Afterwards you can hit MENU-BATCH and BACKUP USER APPS. I'd recommend not messing with any of the other options. If you flash different ROM's a lot it's better to just backup the apps ONLY.
If you were to do for example BACKUP USER APPS and SYSTEM DATA that could potentially bring a whole bunch of errors on your new ROM's and tons of Force Closes.
What I prefer to do is to manually download all my apps between ROM swaps and then using Titanium Backup to restore the data. An example of what I'm talking about is if you have a game that you regularly play, you'd want to restore your data so you don't have to go through the game again. Hope that's simple enough to understand.
You said when you try to download it from the market it says check install unknown applications? Its not suppose to do that... You must have downloaded it and tried installing through a app like astro. If so download another version and try.

Hey,
I rooted my phone to Quantum and I am loving it. Just one problem though, I needed navigation tonight and it epicly failed on me. Epic right? (puns )
In all seriousness I wana reinstall the sprint gps from 2.1.1 because that worked for me and didnt give me false directions or act weird and not give me anything thats turn by turn...
Someone please help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Josh
If you look in The Epic Experience ROM's OP, there should be an add-on where you could flash a .zip of all the Sprint apps.

Im not much of a noob when it comes to technology but that managed to make my head hurt more.
So correct me if Im wrong, I go to Epic Experience ROM's OP (not at all sure that is) and I can get all the sprint apps (which I only want one of o-o)
Im just looking for a gps or nav. The whole reason I got Quantum was to ditch the sprint garbage and get 2.2 but, I need a working nav and sprint has been the only one so far. The navigation on quantum fails because it cant sync or give real time turn by turn directions. So Im looking for the sprint installation of it.
I have no idea where to start (and everything I searched was useless)
You said you're on Quantum ROM in the original post, so I went to the Quantum thread and on the first post is this link: DK28 Sprint Apps
Source: Quantum ROM thread
Since all the Sprint apps are zipped up, you can probably just pick out the Sprint Navigation apk file and install that one by itself.

What he said. Just extract the .zip and look for the Sprint Navigation apk
I believe its called SN28-1100-sprint-signed.apk
Just copy that file and move it to the system/app section using root explorer on your phone.
Edit: just tried it. You dont need to move it. Just install it regulsrly

Since you're installing a lone .apk file from that zip file. You need to enable non-Market application installations. Settings > Applications > Check "Unknown sources"
Then using your phone's file explorer, stock is "My Files", navigate to where you placed the .apk file on your SD card and launch it. It should start the installation process.
I searched many various sites including this one to try and find the best and safest way to uninstall bloatware. I tried Titanium Pro and when I tried to Backup/Restore and selected an app to delete it then rebooted my Note 2. I looked back into B/R and found the item was still there. There was a message indicating that it may take 2 or 3 reboots to complete the uninstall.
I am looking for an app that will run and unistall all bloatware that is safe to use or gives you the option to select apps to unistall. I did download one which looked very good and even listed the apps it would uninstall. It was SuperNote2 DeBloatware which was a zip file. It would not unzip and I could not get it to unzip after numerous downloads.
Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

I did find that posting yesterday and downloaded mrRobinson_Note_II_De_Bloater.v1.00.zip to my PC. When I unzipped this file I saw folders:
apps
assets
meta-inf
These folders dated back to 2/28/2008. So, I was very unsure to use this.
When I opened:
apps it contained: GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
Assets contained; common, fonts, icons, langs and themes.
Meta-inf contained: Com, Cert, Cert and manifest.
This just did not look right for what this was suppose to do. So, I left it.
Your opinion?

You are using a custom recovery, aren't you? CWM or TWRP ... Just follow the instructions in the 1st post. Boot into recovery and select that file and click custom and either run the program or just look through the files that you can remove and exit if you don't want to use the program.
Or, you could just install a custom ROM and not have to worry about this?

That thread is quite old and if you noticed, somewhat inactive with some issues reported. I always use Titanium Backup to "freeze" apps - this usually removes them from being active (and thus saving CPU and battery) but they still remain should you want them. It's a simple and painless process as you are not really deleting them and they do not use much memory anyway.
Here's a great list for the Samsung Galaxy line of devices from Android Forums: http://androidforums.com/metropcs-cdma-galaxy-s3-all-things-root/695070-safe-apps-remove.html

I honestly suggest using a custom rom instead... there are lists out there of apps to remove but it is more based on whats safe to remove vs not safe... ultimately its all user dependant (ie what apps do you use vs what someone else uses)... for me, I love to just install either CM (as reliable and "bare" as any of the roms come) or Jedi roms via aroma (if you still want to hang on to the TouchWiz side of things)... Aroma installs allow you to choose the bloatware you want to have and disregard the ones you dont want... there are tons of tutorials online that take you step by step... make sure you follow the directions (completely) and happy flashing!!

Dont know if you are still in need of help trying to figure out how to flash roms but, you would first need to install a custom recovery. The two major recoveries are TWRP and CWM. They're on par. I used CWM for years but switched to TWRP. From there you first want to make a backup of your original rom and flash as many roms you want to try out. If you dont like the rom, just restore. I dont know how familiar you are with flashing roms but it takes like one try and you pretty much do the same thing over and over.

MTP USB Device?
I thought I was doing great after uninstalling bloatware. However, when I tried to connect my Note 2 to my PC via USB I received the error that MTP USB Device driver could not be loaded. Apparently I must have uninstalled something on my Note 2 that is not allowing me to connect to the PC via USB. I have been searching all day, downloading various Driver apps to no avail. I even downloaded and installed Samsung Drivers which also did not work.
It never ends. Fix one thing and then another pops up. LOL
What else can I say except - H-E-L-P.
I still can use my USB plug from NOTE 2 to my Flash Drive to get stuff transfered to/from Note2/PC.

ps this is why its so important to make a backup in twrp or cwm....google it or find it here! they also call it a nandroid backup...VERY IMPORTANT for issues like this. As previsouly stated you should be able to put the stock rom (check out sammobile's web page for official f.w) on the sd card and from there you can boot into recovery mode and install it from there. I believe. If that don't work look into mobile odin which I have never used. sorry for he typos lazy!
