I have Myn's Warm RLS 5 now running on my Evo. I love the rom. Its blazing fast and does everything well EXCEPT for one thing. The DSP manager distorts the music badly when I activate the equalizer. I'm a big fan of good quality music. I feel that the DSP manager (when it works) is the best thing for the Evo since I found the stock audio to be too weak. Please help me fix this issue if possible. Is there any patch for this rom to solve this problem?
Ive found DSP manager does that no matter what the rom. Since it's doing the enhancement digitally, there is only so much it can boost before sounding distorted.

I searched all over the forum for anyone who know how to install Dolby Mobile on the Droid Incredible. I have listened to sample of the sound difference and it is extremely better with Dolby.
Anyone know how to get Dolby Mobile for the Incredible.
Is this what the hd rom by id has? I wonder...
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
The HTC Desire has Dolby Mobile. Someone has to be able to build it in a ROM.
yeah, I'm just wondering if it hasn't already been done. People are going on and on about the improved speaker and headpiece volumes on the HD Sense ROM by IncredibleDoes. Maybe it's the Dolby portion that is doing that. If so, then your question is answered. Maybe you should check out that ROM and see what you think. I haven't tried it yet.
I did see that ROM, however I don't know if it has Dolby Mobile or not. But i am a little skeptical to use it because the cam and video does not work yet.
Is this the DSP Manager in Uncommon Sense?
I'm running the Uncommon Sense ROM and it has a DSP Manager app that lets me adjust sound profiles for Bluetooth, Speaker and Handset. It has an EQ, the ability to turn on and off dynamic compression, and select a room type. I don't see any Dolby references in it, but it does make the sound better.
Cool, i will try that ROM. Does the cam and video work in the ROM you are using?
Camera and video work well.

Yep. You can even choose whether to use the Incredible camera or the Evo camera.
i was looking at the Uncommon ROM and it looks pretty basic.
Any bugs that you know of.

Yeah, I've noticed that. The Cam issue keeps me away from it, though. I'm content with Virtuous with the IncREDible Theme. I've got DSP manager too and it helps A LOT. The bluetooth EQ is janked, though.
Still I'm curious about the Dolby aspect. I've tried to figure out what it really adds besides better bass response. That mixed with DSP Manager might be a hit. Now if only they could get Pro Logic II decoding!

I am running Uncommon1.1 and I do not have any bugs or issues. This is a very good rom.

You might want to post this in the thread of virtuous unity. It's a great rom but since it's using the Sensation's music player I think that may be the problem.
What I ended up doing while on Virtuous Unity was download DSP Manager and tweaking the output from there. It's not as noticeable as the SRS selection you're talking about but it still works.
I'm also pretty sure we'll get some sort of audio tweaks on this phone since the chip in it is supposed to be pretty decent as far as output goes
Hey folks. So I recently installed a JB ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796340
Works greats, but the only problem that is I've lost the Beats Audio driver which came with Sense 4.0 and I'd quite like it back.
I tried this one here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motioncoding.beats&hl=en
which worked perfectly to begin with, but shortly after my system became completely unstable with apps constantly crashing, forcing me to wipe my phone and start over.
So does anyone know of a solution to this? Or am I just gonna have to wait a while for a stable release, given how new Jelly Bean is?
Thanks,
PS>If any of this sounds noobish, that would be because I actually am new to all this.

Beats Audio is prepared for Sense... And IceColdJelly is completely NonSense ROM. You have to make a decision:
1. Beats audio with any Sense ROM (Stock or Custom)
2. IceColdJelly without Beats Audio.
That's all....
If you want IceCOldJelly.... Just reflash the ROM. It will be OK, I guess.

Really? That sucks :crying: Other people seem to have had have luck on non-Sense phones, based on the reviews of the app I linked to. But in that case, I'll stick with Jelly Bean. HTC will be updating the One X eventually anyway...
Try this..it replaces lib files and installs custom dsp manager..its the nearest i can get to beats..i m running it on cm10 tho..

flash infinity's onextram sound enhancer mod
Since Beats audio really doesn't improve anything but the bass, cant you get the same result with an eq?
Power amp app is all you need.
Use this mod linked below (be sure to make a nandroid backup before you flash it). It has beats audio and a lot of other mods as well that you can select while installing the mod.

The sound with the latest version (14) is pretty good and offers beats audio from Rezound.
Use it with a player like DoubleTwist or PowerAmp which has it's own equalizer, and you can get great audio quality on your music.
Also, System wide sound equalizers and DSP manager doesn't seem to have any effect on the sound on AOSP based ROMs.
Beats audio is effectively dynamic EQ, little more. Unlike a static EQ, it's trying to EQ based on 'beats'. At a very crude level, it's boosting certain frequencies when they are needed... e.g Bass on a musical 'beat' / peak. It's a little more complex than that - it's signal processing similar to an 'exciter'.
You can get comparable results with a decent EQ app (I use PlayerPro) although EQ in this form is static and not dynamic, but Beats Audio 'just works' for almost all apps.
It's also branded and hyped to high heaven - to make it seem like some amazing feature.
Lets us not forgets, we've had HTC trying this with SRS and Dolby too...
One final thing to remember - making something sound 'better' doesn't mean it's making it more accurate! usually it's the opposite. Most users will be playing 128K mp3 files so it's hardly surprising they feel the sound lacks a little depth.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll try the One eXtreme Sound Enhancer tomorrow and report back after a trial run.
And yeah, I am aware that Beats Audio is nothing more than a glorified dynamic EQ that's hyped marketed up the **** to appeal to people who have no idea about music production, and who think that Mr. Dre (he's not a doctor...) can magically dip his fingers into your MP3 and enhance the production values of the original master. Like trying to tickle somebody in a photograph...But it does the job very well so I'll forgive the hype.

Works like a charm. No stability issues. Much better sound.

If you can't have it with nonsense rom, you don't need to bash the product..as far as I'm concern, Beats Audio is very good..
As I'am listening to music a lot, I can't live without proper EQ + some enhancements to fill it up and make it sound how I want it to. On sense ROMS those several beats presets to choose from together with poweramp EQ and stereoX can make this job done, however on AOKP poweramp can't deliver bass at all, you have to use external AMP to get some, but even then the sound is dull and dead.. Of course you can play around with DSP manager, but it somehow just makes music sound fake, EQ works like a noise/dullness knob (lol) and virtualizer literally screws up the music, it's not even close to what poweramp or sense can do.
So, is it possible to port sense sound enhancer to other ROMS? Or maybe there is something similiar integrated in recent other branded ROMS as well?
If you like beats you could find and try one of the flashable beats zips running around.
you mean this called "awesome beats" ?
I'am afraid it's not what I'am looking for as apparently it sounded just like a renamed bass boost in dsp manager and it doesn't look as it would have anything common with HTC one. I'am looking specifically for beats solo or urbeats Sense presets or anything similiar which I haven't tried yet (maybe Xperia's have some kind of app for that?)
I'm using a miui rom and I've set srs_v sound enhancement through the snd3254 command and sound is really great. Have you tried that?

Yes, of course.
Open terminal emulator and type snd3254 -dspmode XX where XX is the number of the sound enhancement you want to apply.
To see the list of possible sound enhancements you can run it with 00.
Another option is to download SndUI app from the market. It's a UI for the snd3254 command.
It shows you the list of available sound enhancements and lets you set one.
EDIT: I get the best sound with srs_v_hp or srs_a_hp dspmodes. hp means headphones.

It's kinda interesting how it works, it surely increases treble and gives bass more headroom to DAC clipping but it comes with the price of V shaped EQ (decreased mids), which I'am afraid isn't exactly what I'am looking for.

Yea, that writing depends purely on your rom. On blackout it's "playback_v_headset_srs"
PS. It seems there are some nice Equalizers (+enhancements) in play store, do they work on AOSP/MIUI ROMS? I couldn't get them to work on Sense + poweramp.
I only tried Equalizer app from the market. It works ok but the sound wasn't the best. That's my opinion at least.

Hello guys! I'm experiencing sound distortion problems on every AOSP-based rom with android > 4.0 - for example GB, ICS ROMs are ok, but jelly baby/jelly mod/purekat etc. are already have such trouble.
Main problem is that after i increasing volume higher than the "safe level", the sound becomes very distorted (seems like sound pumping after very hard limiting).
I tried to disable\freeze dsp manager, apollo and all that could be causing this, but there is no effect. And yes, after deleting i got clean sound for a while, but a bit later bad sound returning, and only reboot can help for a while again. Also there is very problematic to install some things like viper4android, and poweramp native effects are working very poor (poweramp with sense roms plays pretty much better).
So there is a question - what can i do to made sound just as on the sense roms? Without some kind of sound processors? I just wanted to listen music with poweramp with it's native EQ. Hopefully experienced users of DZ still read these forums. Thanks in advance!
