[Q] Cleared data from Peep now cant log back in - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So last night my wife asked if FriendStream on my phone had any tweets in it. It did but hers had not updated for over a day. I opened Peep and hit refresh and waited for it to update did this a few times and the latest it would get was still over 24 hours old.
Having seem similar problems before I cleared the cache of FriendStream its widget and Peep, Still wouldn't update so I cleared their data and that's where it went wrong.
Opened Peep and it had to the login boxes greyed out and a button saying logout, so I did and then tried to login I get Unable to sign in.
"You entered an incorrect username or password".
I have tried rebooting a few times and adding the account back in Accounts and Sync same problem, tried my account same problem, tried my wife's account on my phone and it logs in fine.
I have tried checking/unchecking SSL makes no difference, I know this happened a while back when Twitter changed there login API but it seems I broke something clearing Peeps data without removing the account in accounts and sync or it was broken already and that's why it would update and I brought the login problem to the surface.
If this was a normal app I would try and reinstall it but now I don't know what to do.
1) Can someone with a stock ROM confirm Peep is working and updating. My Desire has LeeDroid with a slightly newer Peep.
2) I have extracted htctwitter.apk from the Modaco ROM can you install this and have it overwrite the installed Peep on a stock un-rooted phone?
3) Any suggestions apart from do a factory reset? and if a factory reset is done any educated guesses if it will help?
4) Does a factory reset mean you have to OTA again or is the OTA written into the image when its applied?
Thanks for any help, seems I broke the wifes most used feature of the phone Not a good idea on my part.
Snowdan.

Turns out Peep version 1.00.0061.26XXXX that ships with stock T-Mobile phones no longer works with twitter, T-Mobile are aware and talking to HTC about an OTA to fix this.

[Q] Google sign-in error?

On booting my phone I get an error that says (my email address) sign-in error. When I click on it it asks me to authenticate by typing in random letters (similar to those checks they put when you register for certain sites).
I never got this before installing the 2.15 baseband. Running the full 8/1 ROM leak.
Anyone else get this or know how to fix?
Seriously no one else is getting this error? I just did a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik) and reinstalled the 8/1 ROM (full not slimmed version). Still get the same error.
It might be tied to Google voice search but I'm not entirely sure.
S-off with the 2.15 baseband if that matters.

Don't do it...I think it is a phishing spam BS hack. I got this on Saturday but didn't think anything of it. I entered the letters and then next thing I know I get like three wierd emails with a bunch of BS crap in them. Later that day one of my friends emailed me back saying they just recieved some fake spam email from me. I immediately changed my email password just to be safe...Good luck
I get this one every reboot. I think it's legit though, no spam so far and I can't open any of the google apps (market, voice search, etc.) unless I do the authenticaiton. I'm going to try wiping some of the google app cache's and see if that helps, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: Cleared data and cache from the market app, then re-did the fingerprint check in (call the *#*#<number>#*#*). So far it hasn't given me the error, we'll see if it lasts.

Market apps server error occurred after flashing LeeDroid 2.3d

I've flashed my HTC desired today with LeeDroid 2.3d on clockworkmod recovery. I do the full wipe before flashing.
Now the flashing is complete. When I first startup the fone, it ask me to add an account so I entering my Gmail account and got an error: Can't establish connection to server. I double checked the wifi and got the browser surfing web without any problem, so I guess the wifi connection is ok.
Then I googled, and use a trick to login to Gmail account through YouTube apps. It works out and I have my Gmail account now.
The problem is, when I open the market app, it keeps saying: "A server error occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen". I cleared the cache, reboot, reflash, and it still gets error.
Would you please help me to work out please. I can't installed any apps now
Thank you in advanced.
Try adding another gmail account, make one up, doesnt matter.
Add it in the accounts section, reboot and your market should work.

Thank you for your answer, but I already tried that. Not work
Im pretty sure its due to your Gmail account not being properly activated. I had the same problem when installing an older rom, had no connectivity as there was no 3G or WiFi and the Market place didnt work. The only way I know of to remove the standard account is with a "factory reset" or, wipe and reinstall the rom. I take it this was working correctly before you installed LeeDroId?

Yes everything was working correctly before I flashed Leedroid.
PS: I did a factory reset, and now I can add a Gmail account now. Thank you a lot!

Wipe and Reset aren't 100% effective...

I've had a few issues with the nordic rom freezing and causing SD card issues. So i decided to do a 'factory settings' reset, and a wipe from the recovery and then re-flash the sbf.
After all of this the phone boots back up and goes through the set-up process, but after its finished i noticed that some things didn't get wiped. My custom wallpaper is still set, the ringtones i selected are still set and when i downloaded the facebook app it didn't ask me to log-in, it just logged-in automatically...
Makes me a bit nervous about selling the phone in the future. Has anybody else got remnants of personal info left after a wipe?
Have you set motoblur account or gmail to backup user data?
Yep thats what i thought, but logging into a different google account (i dont have motoblur set-up) still brings back the wallpaper and ringtone settings. It seems to forget the facebook app login though on a different account.

"Facebook Authentication Failed"

I keep getting logged out of the Facebook app every few days, and I get a notification that says "Facebook Authentication Failed" and it takes me to the login page, where I have to decide what syncs and how often all over again.
Anyone else experiencing this, or have a clue as to why I'm having this problem?
The only reason I could think would cause this is if someone is trying to login to my account and keeps putting in the wrong password and maybe Facebook logs me out of everything...
Any clues?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention that I've already googled it and tried all the solutions (besides installing a different ROM or doing a a factory reset).
I'm on a stock ROM, for the record...
This could be coase of sync issue in samsung accounts. Try to disable syncing contacts and calendar under samsung accounts and then reboot. This might help.

Thanks, but I want them to sync....
It also happens after restoring Facebook from backup.
It happens everytime with me, after factory reset, when I restore facebook app+data
Just logout and login solve issue.

My phone is messed up. Can I install an updated ROM to fix?

Hi guys,
I accidentally deleted my 'calendar' files in an attempt to clean my phone to increase the speed. That has resulted in complete dysfunction of calendar functionality. When I use and/or reinstall google calendar app, it simply will not recognize my google account. In accounts, google sync is giving me a 'red' sync error. But other syncs seem to be working fine (contacts, mail, photos, etc.).
I'm guessing this can't be fixed now?
Should I consider putting on a new rom? My phone is already rooted. I've done this a few times before. Is there an appropriate rom? I absolutely need to use the t mobile's WIFI CALLING functionality. It comes in handy when i'm outside the country and have to call home over the internet.
Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks
Have you made nandriod/backup, if yes then restore from recovery. If no then you try factory reset/wipe data. If still problem not solved then flash the stock ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687 as you need WiFi calling which I think will only be available with stock ROM.
I prefer nandriod every week and deleted the old one. It takes only 5 to 10 minutes
