Cant root or Wifi tether after Froyo upgrade for Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint :( - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This sucks. Im starting to hate my phone and wishing I went with something else. Im paying $90 a month, and they want MORE just to occasionally tether with my laptop. Installing satellite internet in my car wouldnt cost this much.
So I am a Linux user...Not a master by any means, and I need dumbed down directions for using the command line.....Remind me how to navigate to a folder, ect....But I enjoy tinkering and hacking.
So right now I am pretty pissed. I am tempted to cancel my Sprint account and just getting a separate account with a Windows phone HTC mogul or Touch Pro original, which are EASY to tether with, even with Linux.
Can anyone help me to either
A.) get my phone rooted in 2.2, where Z4root does not seem to be supported, and where it claims that the operating system does not support Wireless Tether?....and second, help me tether wireless in infrastructure mode so that Ubuntu/Mint can connect to my signal with third party apps?
B.)How to install a third party rom that is geared for people who want to tether their devices with Ubuntu laptops and Android tablets? I want something stable that works. Speed is nice, but not at the expense of stability. I mostly want to use my phone as a mobile hotspot for at least 1 computer without getting robbed for another $30. I also take picture, video, watch youtube with my daughter, and use the calendar and planner, but I probably could have gotten by with the original touch pro for cheaper and used my thousand dollar laptop and 800 dollar tablet for a lot less money. I really just need free wireless tethering.
Also, please feel free to discuss the quality and pros/cons of different roms available for the Epic 4g.

[Q] Yall will prolly hate this question.

Bought a Evo 4g in 2010, rooted it, loved it, got run over by a truck, received a replacement from asurion today (still have the busted old one...but need to send it back). Admittedly haven't been to these forums in awhile, so just figuring out now that rooting doesn't work on 2.3.3. Bummer.
To be honest, the only thing I ever used root for was wifi-tether (sad, but true). But I used it a lot, pretty much every day for work.
So in a nutshell, what are my options?
1. If i'm reading the various threads here correctly, I cannot root my device. True?
2. Are there any other free wifi tethering options that don't require root, and support 4g?
3. Am I crazy to consider taking my phone apart and replacing just the components of my other phone that are broken, so I can stay on whatever version I was on previously to keep root? This new android seems a lot snappier than whatever version I was on previously (I didn't do any OTA's since oct '10 on the phone that got run over).
Thanks for the tips.
You searched! congrats on being one of the few!
There are no wifi tethering options for unrooted devices...only usb tethering.
From what I've seen, its not worth the hassle to remove the components from one phone to another.
You will either have to wait for root or pay sprint $30.00 a month for the feature.
Use easy tether its usb tethering and its really fast on 4g I use it everyday

Not necessarily. Comcast sells very slow internet as well as their more modern options. More likely is that he uses it outside.

E4GT disappointment and iPhone On My Desk

(Note: I'm not new to Android. My recent phone history is HTC Touch Pro -> Palm Pre -> HTC Evo -> Samsung Epic -> Another Evo -> Nexus S 4G -> Epic 4G Touch and I generally spend more time modding than using it.)
Overall, I'm in love with Android. What I haven't been in love with is Samsung. IMO, The radios act up more, their release cycle sucks and now with my Epic 4G Touch losing connectivity and forcing me to reboot just to make sure it works has me at a place I've never been before.
So today I sit with another new phone on my desk, this time its an iPhone 4S.
I've used an iPad, The company issued me a MBP, so I'm not anti-Apple, but I've always sort of looked at the iPhone's as just...well....smart phones for dumb people. But like all technology, aren't we all better if we learn as much as we can?
So, if you were in my shoes, would you esn swap onto the iPhone 4S for the time being and wait until the next best Android thing that isn't Samsung, or ride out the storm and pray Samsung actually releases a fix to all there manufacturing problems? Would you trade the ability to tinker for the ability to have something reliable?
I realize I'm asking in a forum dedicated to Android, mostly because I need to be pulled back from the brink.
SOMEBODY SAVE ME! (or not)
You said it yourself its a smartphone for dumb people. Not a bad phone but I would just feel bad about myself using it. I would feel like a fan boy and it seems like your main issue here is LOS. Just use the LOS kernal and you wont have any issues I rarely lose signal using it with starburst.
IMO use the iPhone....it seems like it might be a fit for you based on your post.
However I am losing faith in sprint and their network, I am moving to Verizon ASAP might get the galaxy nexus or the RAZAR becuase at my work I get 20Mb down on LET.....yes 20!!!!....but it averages 15 to 17 down. Get out of sprint is what you need to do.
I wouldn't consider switching smartphone OSes on a temporary basis simply because of the app stores. I can't afford to repurchase all the apps I rely on on a new OS. That means I'd be running it in a limited capacity, avoiding purchasing the apps that would max out the enjoyment of the phone for me, knowing I'd eventually give it up and all the money I spent on it.
I think for some people going iPhone is legitimate and reasonable. It works better for certain personalities or needs. I don't begrudge that. But I've doubled-down on Android, and just like people wouldn't leave iPods because it meant losing all their music, I can't just switch OSes any time I want without thinking about the app investment.

I would agree, if I didn't already have an Android tablet
Its true what you say about doubling down. Its like owning a Canon camera, all the lenses, and then trying to switch to Nikon.
I understand your fustration with LOS, but there is a way that your phone can reboot automatically when you get a LOS and it will let you know it did so. I use Starburst v1.8 with the LostKernel and I haven't seen a LOS even happen in 4 days where it use to be once a day, but when it does happen my setup takes care of it. Reboots automatically and I don't have to do anything manually - don't miss a beat.
Check out this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18728533&postcount=3022
I don't worry about LOS anymore and this phone kicks AS-phalt
We have a crackberry att, iphone 3gs att(now cancelled), epic touch 4g, and xperia play verizon. Love me some tech stuff, including all sorts of phones, no matter who makes them. After having an iphone in the house for 2+yrs, would I get rid of the epic touch, no way. Its funny that my verizon phone will drop calls while the epic keeps on ticking, so much for verizons reliable service here in Houston. If I lose signal on the touch, I have noticed I also lose signal on verizon. I just wish Sprint would get on the ball and improve the speeds to compete with big red. Best of luck in whatever you decide.
wow, another thread on this subject...
you obviously like android, and, claim to spend more time customizing your phone than actually using it; you should have read the tons of posts about how folks are dealing with their LOS.
No one here can make up your mind, except YOU...
I'm It manager for my work. No more Androids for our company. Way too many support calls for them. If someone wants Android, we will configure it once for ActiveSync/exchange and there after they are on their own, we will give them PDFs of common problems and fixes but has time goes on those PDFs will just get out of date. I don't even want BlackBerry anymore. Since everyone wants an IPhone and the cost is the same, that's our company phone. We get very little support calls about them. We will replace a broken iPhone once and the next time it is the employee's problem to replace it or will take the cost of the new one from their paycheck over a few checks.
What do I use...E4GT, I have a company issued iPhone I use to test company apps on but it generally sits in a drawer. My number is a Google Voice number so it does not matter which phone I grab during the day.
I've also owned many Android phones and I made the switch from the Epic Touch to the iPhone 4s. I'm not gonna lie, I do miss the tinkering, however, when the jailbreak is released for this phone, I think I'll be all good then.
Unlike the epic touch I have not had any issues with the iPhone at all. Everything works flawlessly from the start.
In addition, like previous poster posted above me... We also have Android devices for our work phones and almost everyday people are having issues with them. They switched us over from Blackberry's because we're starting to use google for everything.... Google docs, gmail, etc.
Furthermore I honestly don't think that the iPhone is for people who are dumb to android and/ or tinkering. I for one don't like the upgrade process for android devices. And if I'm stuck in a contract for two years with a phone, i want it to be supported for those two years. you get an iPhone you can expect it to still get updates... Look at the iPhone 3GS. When you get an android device there's no way you know for sure of your phone is going to get the next update.... Look at the epic 4g. And I know devs can put out leaked roms, but I'm talking about official updates.

I have the iPhone side by side with my E4GT since yesterday. My goal was to configure it as close as I could to being useful to see what I would and wouldn't miss. Here's my non-fanboi list of things Android does that I can't live without:
Turn by Turn SatNav - Google does it better and the alternatives are laughable.
Google Integration - The up and down integration with contacts and other information on Google has become indispensable to me.
Icon Manipulation - I can live without a lot of the customization, but its hilarious that Apple forces you to an "always sorted, top-left to bottom-right" icon grid. Sometimes a brother just wants to have some icons above his dock.
To be fair, these are some things I noticed I could see myself liking about the iPhone:
Notification dropdown is a little more involved. Good to see Apple isn't hypocritical about stealing interface design anymore
iOS apps are first-class citizens. Almost every app that you can get on both devices is significantly more polished on iOS. For shame, developers.
Holy crap the camera is FAST
Interestingly, Google Maps looks nicer on the iPhone.
So in comparison, I like the iPhone because it feels a little more refined, but I like Android because OF Google.
I am going to reformat my E4GT again to the latest Starburst (am on 1.4 and ZedoMax) and see if I get any better performance.
Thanks everyone!

[Q] anyone with a galaxy nexus + apple computer

i saw a video review and the guy mentioned bluetooth tethering is an option and i am HYPED on that, it's the thing i miss most from old school windows mobile. can anyone with a galaxy nexus and an apple computer confirm whether or not tethering over bluetooth is possible on an apple? thanks so much, and please know i'm insanely jealous of you over here in the states until they get here! lol
bump.
eric b
You can bluetooth tether. Its just very finicky in my experiences (you could bluetooth tether with apps on 2.3). You have to make a bluetooth DUN network profile, pair the devices, and set it up. Similar to what you have to do in order to USB tether.
It ended up being so much trouble that I just wifi tethered. Its faster anyways (setup and network speeds).
Any specific reason you'd prefer bluetooth tether?
thanks for replying!
yeah, it always seemed to be much easier on the battery when i used it on windows mobile. the bottleneck of bluetooth never bothered me too much when i tethered before. i never got usb tethering to work on my apple notebook before, is it possible using the native tethering method or do i need something like pdanet?

Count yourself lucky you haven't got it yet. It seems Samsung, Google and the networks have decided to use the UK early adopters as guinea-pigs.

It will work with the built-in USB tethering option. All of the hackery needs to happen on the computer side. It takes some interesting steps and a lot of setup to get it to work. There are lots of guides online though.

Tethering with the Nitro

This may be a generic Android question and not so much a Nitro issue, but I'm new to android so I apologize if it's out of line.
I see that there are ways to tether built right into my stock software, but I'm afraid if I use them AT&T will pick it up and switch me from my Unlimited Data plan to a tethering plan. I've been told about PdaNet 3.0, but haven't yet downloaded that. Any thoughts?
They probably will. I would wait until there is a version of CWM or some other close to vanilla Android build for the phone personally.

Thanks for the reply, but it's a little over my head. From my minimal Android knowledge I think CWM means ClockWorkMod, but I don't really know what that is. I've got some learning to do.
I do get your point though.

been tethering with the native app for a while (edited the entitlement check line to activate it). No problems here. I don't abuse it though, just basic web browsing when i tether.
Yeah, CWM is ClockWorkMod. Basically, it's something dev's can use as a platform to create files to flash to your phone (including software that will take everthing back to stock if you mess up). It also provides a relatively simple, if initially intimidating, way for a user to install roms and other mods that devs provide.
Once CWM is on a phone, developers are able to make much cooler things to play with, from streamlined and customized stock roms, to completely different roms such as AOSP (Android Open Source Project) roms. These are stock android roms. You also can get CyanogenMod roms (Such as CM9 which is Icce Cream Sandwich) ported to your phone at that point. The AOSP and CM roms can take a while to get here, but devs can sometimes slip goodies like tethering into a customized version of the stock rom (the one from LG). They did on my phone anyway.
On any relatively new phone, there's always the wait till CWM is ported to the phone. After that, things pick up rapidly.
Hope this helps. I remember asking the same question (and many more like it). You get the hang of it real fast.

Check out page 6/7 in the LG Nitro Root thread in the dev section. You have to trigger the hotspot on once, to get AT&T to tell u that u don't have the proper plan, and the line will appear in line 66.
setting storange/settings.db/secure
Get there using SQLite editor.
E_Man,
When I get back to my computer I'll hit the thanks button. I have a lot to learn, but here's how I equate some of it.
Is CWM kinda like Cydia on the iPhone? I jailbroke my 3GS a few different times, but this android stuff is all Greek to me. There was always a tutorial to be found with every new jailbreak, but I've only seen one for rooting the Nitro and it's still over my head.

Actually, using iphone terminology, cwm would be more like open iboot or something. It's a recovery mode that allows you to back up, restore, or install roms. There is no cydia equivalent in android afaik. Almost all the cool tools, tweaks, and apps are available in the market. Rooting is pretty much the same thing as jailbreaking.

Ah I see. I have noticed that most of the things I had to jailbreak for are already in the android marketplace. The availability of all of that and the freedoms that android offers are what made me ditch iOS. The main reason, though, is because I kept hearing how supportive the android community is. So far you guys seem pretty helpful. It's on me to learn as much as I can. I just have to find the right spot to start gaining info. Much of what I've come across is over my head.
You picked a good phone to convert to. The display on this phone is AMAZING!!! My HTC Inspire looks like a VGA monitor to me now.
Is anyone else using the built in tether option? Any foul play from AT&T?
I'm using it. Don't abuse much (other then listening pandora radio on laptop 8 hours a day), but other then that basic web browsing. So far so good, nothing from ATT (yet I already received sms when had Atrix, but then I was streaming movies from my computer at home, was going 20gb a month. Now I'm about 10gb a month (which I know is high), but it's all because of pandora, it would be the same if I was using phone's app for that anyway.
Although I'm not on contract and won't loose sleep if I have to switch company, for what I pay now I sure can find a better deal elsewhere.

Wow, nice. I am usually under 3 GB, but tethering on my HSPA+ Inspire was hardly a good experience. I'm sure I'll get above that if I tether on my Nitro. Glad to know you can get around 10 GB without them flipping out on you. I was under the impression you'll receive the SMS right over 5 GB.
Are you guys also on the unlimited data plan without the tethering feature?

I forgot to mention I'm in non-LTE area. Also as far as I can remember for at least 2 years, after 15th of each month they slow down the network from about 10am to 7pm from 800kb/sec to 80, regardless of my usage. Still its fast enough for pandora and little web browsing.

Wait a minute... You use 10GB a month tethering and don't get hassled by AT&T? I was told that with Android devices they can't detect whether or not you're tethering or just using alot with certain apps. It must be true.

Just came over from iPhone5

Preordered iPhone5. Received it Friday Sept 21. Returned Sunday 2-3 days later. Picked up t-mobile Galaxy S3 right after returning the iPhone5.
So glad I am back on Android. From the 2-3 days of ownership of the iPhone5/iOS (as this was my 1st iPhone and I just wanted to experiment to see how I'd like it), I was not able to do very basic things I wanted, or any reasonable person would expect to be able to do to a phone.
1st off, Ringtones. Anyone owning a phone would have a reasonable expectation to be able to change / add custom ringtones. Should I have to pay for it? Maybe, that is if I don't want to cut the songs myself. I already have ringtones from my last phone which was basic mp3s I could have drag/dropped over. But with iPhone, I had to go through tedious process of utilizing iTunes as a medium, converting to AAC format, moving onto desktop, deleting the ones in iTunes, then renaming the .m4a format to .m4r, then dragging it back into iTunes, then syncing. I could have done all this on Android by just plugging it to my comp, locate Ringtones folder, dropped it in, and done.
Sync was an issue too. I'm pretty sure most people use gmail in some way, and all my contacts are in gmail. Tried to get contacts to sync over to iCloud was a hassle. It would only sync the root folder group of contacts and not the other groups. I had to manually export each contact group to my comp, then import into iCloud. Now if I added/made changes to a contact on my iPhone, I'd have to go back home, and re-enter a new contact in google. It's just not a seamless process.
Also the AppStore. Every 15 minutes I want to get an app, I am asked to enter a password. And Apple requires a complicated pw with uppercase/lowercase, numbers, special characters. It's not by any means easy to type on the phone every time I want to install something.
No widgets either on iOs. No notification widgets to easy turn on/off options like WiFi, screen rotation, GPS, Bluetooth. I have to go into settings and navigate through menus to turn them on/off.
I didn't like how all the apps just show up on the home screen as iOS doesn't have a drawer like Android, and I'd have to dump everything into folders if I didn't want to see it. Also all the icons just align from right to left, top to bottom. I can't change where they are on the page except for the order it flows. I read maybe JailBreaking can help with this customization, but I don't think I want to wait that long for an untethered JB to be available for the iPhone5 to be released.
Forgot to add, I have a TF700 and I utilize TabletTalk to sync SMS to my Tablet and send SMS via the Tablet. This wouldn't have worked out for an Android Tablet with an iPhone.
Side issue that affected me, but unrelated to Apple, was the fact Sprint had deceptive advertising regarding their LTE coverage. As you guys know, iPhone is either 3G or LTE; no WiMax. In DFW, even though coverage map shows I am clearly in 4G LTE coverage, Sprint indeed only had 1 LTE tower up and running in the other side of Dallas of where I am at. And Dallas is a pretty damn big city, so all I ever saw was 3G. Sprint's 3G was < 1mbps down/upload, which is unacceptable as I am paying for "unlimited 3g/4g data" cost of an additional $10/month. It is hardly enough bandwidth to stream music / video or let alone download apps unless I am connected to WiFi; which then goes back to the point of why am I even paying for data. Unlimited data is pointless at that speed and I'm not going to wait 1-2 yrs for Sprint to finish rolling out LTE in Dallas; since by then my contract would have expired anyways and I could just switch to Sprint then.
But overall, I didn't try to / demand anything complicated out of the phone. The simple things I wanted it to do, didn't go as I had expected, even though I kept hearing how easy iPhones are to use, and how stable it is. Stable OS, smooth processing, and pretty, yes. But basic simple customization / syncing, no. And now I totally understand when Android users are trolling iPhone users.
That's why the iPhone has those mesmerizing screen transition animations. Supposed to help relieve the headache after all the frustration. J/K.
:silly:
If you have a mac is easier to import your Google contacts to iCloud, or you can set up Gmail as a exchanged account and will import and update all your contacts automatically (kind of like android) anyways, I'm about to return my iPhone 5 is amazing looking device but not for my needs like I said before, the only thing I miss the most(besides a few apps) is battery life in stand by, really good phone not my cup of tea tho

Nice to see your in the Galaxy... the cryphones will never be better then android. They have no comparison.. you take a phone that does things and can't be changed and "compare" it to a phone that let's u do whatever you want on it.. I just never see it as a fair comparison.. that's like saying the cryphones are a Datsun and the androids are lambos... and then people say the cryphones are better.. there are in different leagues altogether. Cryphones = lockdown no customization like android... but glad to see u here. Many people waste so much time n money on apple.. and now its biting them in the wallet and a$$... he he he I love it. BTW if u have a DSLR cannon camera check out chainfire's DSLR controller app.. I just found it yesterday and I can control my camera with my phone... its so dope!!! Sgs3 BEST PHONE I'VE HAD YET. Lots of valid points, but overall it's just an issue with competing ecosystems. You had already had some Androids, so most of your ecosystem was setup through gmail and google.
For a Mac user coming over to an Android phone, much of the same problems pop up (no easy itunes music/podcasts integration, etc)
But overall just by its open source nature, Android is much easier to work with and setup. And conversely since Apple likes to control all aspects of user experience, you don't get all the features and selling points (i.e. the iPhone is so "easy" to use!) unless you are subscribed to the entire Apple ecosystem.

Tmo has really fast data at DFW, wasn't able to leave the airport hah but in it the 4g was great. For ringtones you can just longpress a song in the media player. No need to even move it.
My gmail calendar syncs between my iPad/net/phone perfectly. Haven't tried contacts but I'm sure there is a way. iOS is definitely a different experience though. I really like the app tray on android too. But iOS has the advantage of searching when you hit home twice.

Tmo has really fast data at DFW, wasn't able to leave the airport hah but in it the 4g was great. For ringtones you can just longpress a song in the media player. No need to even move it.

Video and/or Photos (i work with both) so I do run Macs at home. For mobile I'm with you though, loving my GSIII
Since I do not do any media creation I have no reason to keep an apple product. I use my S3 and my Nexus 7 for almost all of my day to day use.
Otherwise I use my little netbook but those times are getting further and further in between.
I was interested in the iPhone 5, but now that you reviewed here and I'd an android user before, I will just wait for the note 2. I do like Apple products, just hate the Apple company...

What's wrong with being a girl, or queer?
I bought a Samsung Vibrant on the recommendation of a queer woman.

Isn't that the universal search feature that got disabled?
I just though I share my story here:
My HTC desire died because of to much freedom after 1.5 year of custom ROM flashing and partition profile switching(hboot).(I think I have switched between all available ROMs for the HTC Desire before it died one months ago)
I always flashed a new ROM because non of them was what I wanted.
Sure Oxygen was awesome but it sopped to receive updates.
MIUI was awesome but it stopped to to receive updates. (For Desire)
I spent most my time on Gingerbread and ICC custom ROMS and always had stability issues.
I know that if I get an iPhone I will still get updates for it 2 years from now.
If I get a galaxy S3 I will get jellybean but after that there is nothing promising that I will get Key lime pie.
When I get an iPhone all apps in the app store will work on it without problem.
That is maybe the case for galaxy S3. But it's not guaranteed.
I'm also tired of all the customization options. It's great to be able to customize so much but I never was able to get it exactly how I wanted it to be anyway.
The iPhone isn't nearly have as much customize options. But still, it's enough for me and I used MIUI ROM so it reminds a lot of the iOS.
I never even used widgets after a while because widget made my already crappy battery run out of ´cream´ even faster.
I'm still thinking of maybe take a S3 though because of the iPhone seems to have a bit of problems(easy scratches and some other minor stuff)
Though the S3 in my eyes is REALLY big. I can still cancel my order on the iPhone so if anyone after reading this can convince me to get the S3. Please go ahead.
I really loved my time with android. But I kind of got sick on it. Maybe if I try both the iPhone 5 and GSIII I can finally make a 100% accurate choice.

I won't try to dissuade you. If T-Mobile hadn't given me a good deal to stay, or I weren't on T-Mobile to start with, I might have decided to give the iPhone 5 a try. That said, my understanding from a relative who happily uses Apple products is that, if as I do you use Google calendar and Gmail, then there's no significant advantage to the iPhone over the Galaxy S III. What you're left with is a choice between two very good products, each of which has advantages and disadvantages.
So you preordered a phone? What provider? Then used it and didnt like it. Then you got a S3 today and you have already rooted it? Judging by your sig?
@OP I moved to the dfw area a few months ago and had Sprint. nearly two months went by, I had absolutely no service and they said it's because they're "upgrading". I don't call that much of an upgrade if I can't even make calls. And the wimax was still awful. So you made the right choice switching. I also switched to tmo, got an amazing deal and am loving the 4g, WiFi calling, and service in general. Plus the s3 makes it that much sweeter.
If you haven't yet, make sure to call and ask them to add the free WiFi calling onto your account.

I'm going to visit a local store and try out the S3 and check if it's possible to get my interest back to android.
Than only time will tell if I decide to cancel the order or not and get the S3 instead.
Also the 4G version of the Galaxy S3 is not released here in Sweden yet I think.

I had T-Mobile to begin with (grandfathered with unlimited data). My plan doesn't end until December, but I figured I got tired of flashing unstable roms on my Nexus S that I'd give iPhone a try, as people kept saying "oh it's so easy to use and it's so stable". I used the iPhone 5 from Friday afternoon till Saturday night. I ran into too many customization / sync issues where I just had enough of it and I wiped the phone clean and ready to be returned. Sunday came and I called up Sprint, and cancelled my plan and set up my phone to be returned. Afterwards, went over to T-Mobile as I have the itch for a new phone. Spoke w/ the rep at the store and turns out I could upgrade my account for some reason (though I kept thinking I had to wait the full 2 years to upgrade my line). So picked up the GS3 right then and had everything up and running. I was already using ParanoidAndroid 2.13 on my Nexus S, so it wasn't difficult to get everything up and running. This is much improved over my last phone. 2GB ram vs 512MB (380MB usable) and 1.5GHz+ (oc'd to 1.7 via LeanKernel) vs 1.2GHz Marmite Kernel. GS3 was an overall much better experience.
As for the iPhone, it's a great phone (smooth, fast, and pretty). Great build quality and finish and amazing display. It did feel more delicate as the surface seemed a bit more prone to scratches (back and sides). Mine however was fine, but I don't speak for everyone. The anodized aluminum is more likely to get scratched, and I got the white one so it is less noticeable. The GS3, even though plastic, actually seemed more durable to everyday use, as one would probably not want to constantly worry about scratching the beautiful iPhone shell. Also accessories are scarce for the iPhone. My case was pre-ordered, and still not shipped out today. Cancelled that as I no longer plan on sticking with the iPhone. Also trying to get additional USB->Lightning cables was going to cause me to have to wait another 2-3 weeks due to backorder.

As for Sprint, they had deceptive LTE advertising. I canceled well within the 14 day trial period ( < 72 hours to be exact). Sprint's 3G is the equivalent of dialup. T-mobile's 4G, even though not real 4G, is still comparable to cable/dsl speeds. Fios-like speeds of LTE is great, but not necessary. Just thinking about the data cap from AT&T or Verizon, as I'm not grandfathered on those plans, would mean constant worry about if I'm hitting cap or not. But anyways, I didn't sign up for Sprint to use my iPhone on WiFi or wait the 1-2 years till they finally finish rolling out LTE in DFW.
BTW, did you end up paying any termination fees? You stated 2 months went by. I just figured, I'd GTFO ASAP haha. Sprint's 3G was unacceptable in today's terms.
