is there a way to install a rom using Odin??
I keep getting the SOD (sleep of death or whatever) and I want to try and install the new syndicate rom thru Odin to see if that may fix the issue.

Not unless the developer puts out a .tar of it. Usually you need to Odin a stock ROM and then you need to flash the custom ROM through Clockwork. You should Odin one of the prerooted ROMs like t853209he second one down in this thread:

Sorry, numbers got cut off:

It is possible, but none out for the epic. The devs might find it too much of a hassle to have to create and release a tar for every version of the rom, but I have seen it A LOT over at the fascinate forums.

Flash back using odin. sfhub's one click odin is the safest and fastest way. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101)
Flash back to like el29. Then use the auto root package which is linked in that post to flash an el29+cwm kernel. From there u have recovery and can restore a gb backup.
OR
You can flash one of rogue's ics kernels using odin. That will give you an ics recovery and u can restore gb backup from there.
First option is safer IMO.
thanks for the quick reply man, I've got Odin downloading right now.. I've gotten a new computer since I rooted the 1st time and have to start from scratch... thanks again..
But I may be back with more questions..lol

For the recovery kernel only using tar, mobile odin also works great. No need to flash through PC. Mobile odin is installed on your phone and handy/quick tool.

So I can flash kernels only through the mobile version?.. I'm completely new to Odin so..
So I've got back to complete stock/unrooted.. so I gotta root and get back to a decent ROM.. but that's all gotta wait at least till tomorrow after work..
thanks guys - People on here never fail to help me out when I need it

You can use the mobile or pc version. whatever is more convenient for you.
I'm currently trying to flash an ICS rom to my friends epic touch he has the EL29 build on his device.
I was able to get it rooted and I flashed the rouge recovery successfully.
But I keep reading and seeing in videos that it is recommended to only flash ICS via gb recovery while on a particular rom and thats were my confusion starts..
If anyone can clear this cloudiness Id appreciate it..
Any turorial videos or up-to-date guides would be help-ful
This guide(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24028398&postcount=683) didnt help because the first link for the needed file is down, so that was a no-go.
Thanks in advance..
just use one click odin to flash fe22 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=167135
Read this then read it again!

Then just go right into flashing the ICS rom?
If you do the odin one-click FE-22 it will install a stock ICS rom for you.

The one click FE22 will give you stock recovery. If you're going to flash another rom after that you're best bet is el26 but things are changing super fast right now so keep reading through the threads.

Flash in recovery
http://goo.im/devs/billard412/d2spr/Sprint_GS3/LI3_firmware(bootloaders).zip
Then reset
The jb firmware has changes made to it to do that that. This will downgrade your bootloaders to stop it
I flash this every time I flash new ROM?
Weird u sure its the li3 firmware Cuz it shouldn't be going up then.
Try these instead http://androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556425848

Is there a thread dedicated to them no. Freeza has the posted as AIOs in his thread. But his come with a modem.
The last 5 pages or so of my stock restore and rooted odin tar thread mentions them but this isn't really an heavily discussed issue . Granted Google couldve told u that in less time than it took me to write this.
I'm just trying to gather a little more knowledge bout this "bootloader".. I flashed that zip and everything seem to be fine.. I just wanted to know what does it exactly do?? Sry noon alert! Coming from the epic touch things are little different here lol
Thanks
So just to have peace of mind I did the right thing flashing that zip right? Lol and I can go flashing ROMs without running into any problems? Sry I'm probably being stupid right now

Mr. Doc I so appreciate you!!! First time posting to thread and Im grateful of your timely response. Let me just tell you exactly whats going on
my phone is in the android system recovery what I am seeing is green android man with a red warning over top of it. it will not let me do anything and I see a message saying "MANUAL MODE" successfully applied multi CSC. It won't connect to ODIN OR Kies Im so scared that I have ruined my phone crying very hard
Odin doesn't work unless you're in download mode.
What happens when you reboot? If it takes you to recovery, boot into download mode (power+vol down+home) and flash a stock image.

Also this happened after I flashed the pure stock then I flashed the recovery and the phone automatically went to what I have explained in prior post
When the phone is recovery it doesn't let me do anything factory/reset or anything and when i put in download mode it doesn't connect to ODIN
What rom were you previously using? And you do have a T999L right? You won't be able odin flash any stock firmware because there isn't any.
Try again to get into download mode. If you can boot recovery you should be able to get there too I'd imagine.
Hold volume down and home while powering up.
If you can do this, odin flash either cwm from aerowinders sig, or twrp from mine. Then reflash whichever rom you were running before trying the pure stock rom.

Hello I'm a she lol but what originally happened was I rooted phone through Odin. Then when I looked in Twrp and cwm it kept saying i had no recovery image. I went through thread on here and saw someone with same issue and follow Mr. Doc's instructions pertaining to the pure stock and recovery and this is where i landed. Im in download mode so yes i see my phone is not ruined lol I just need the file Mr. Doc is telling me about to reflash because im now connected to odin. I had to use another computer. I greatly appreciate all the time taken to help me get my phone back to working order. Since I am new I need to find the place where I can give a lot of Kudos to mr doc and his team now all i need is where to i go for mr doc file
In my signature, click Recoveries. Then in the twrp folder download version 2.5.0.0. Get the one that's a .tar.
Then once connected to odin, click the PDA button and select the tar file you just downloaded. Then click start.
Once done it should auto reboot. Now reboot into recovery and try doing a factory reset there.
If you still can't boot after that, flash the other, deodexed rom from my T999L thread.
I've got to go for a bit but will try to jump back on soon to see how you're doing.

Neither CWM or TWRP have added support yet, though it should be as simple as asking. Ill try to contract them in a bit.
You can manually install any of the latest recoveries for the T999 though. They have been confirmed working by several people.
Are you familiar with Odin? I suggest going to the Recoveries link in my sig and get TWRP version 2.5.0.0. The one you want has the .tar extension.
Then flash that in Odin.
If you aren't comfortable with Odin I can tell you another way using terminal emulator.
Your phone does currently have a recovery, but unless you've installed a custom one its still stock.
Also, you can flash any of the Roms posted for the T999. If the rom doesn't include a kernel, and it touchwiz based, you can flash one of the kernels in my T999L thread in development section. I'd try the MD5 kernel first so its matched with the Touchwiz rom you choose. (If you flash CM or AOSP based roms, do not use the kernels I just mentioned).
Hope that helps!

Choose Device option 62 and then Flash custom recovery. It will automate the ODIN install if you are not familiar.

Do what GhostAssassin said. Once your back on stock you can flash cf-auto root and TWRP recovery if you want... just like you did before. As for going about getting hotspot unlocked, dont use generic methods/apps unless you want to run into this kind of problem. There are much better and easier ways of doing this. Do some searching in your specific device forums instead. With all the steps you went through you could have flashed one zip and been done. You could have also flashed a stock rooted rom such as mine and been in business in no time. Before you attempt mods and things in the future, make sure it's fully compatible with your specific device because there are differences in code from one device to another., depending on what it is.

Yes. you must install a custom recovery in order to flash a custom or stock rooted rom. At this time TWRP is the only recovery that officially supports our Sprint Note 4. Trying other recoveries for other note 4's "might" work but in my opinion if it isn't fully tested and confirmed by the recovery project team then you shouldn't flash it on your phone. With that said, look in the Original development forum here in the Sprint note 4 forum and you will find the TWRP thread. Same for CF-auto root... just do a search and you will find it.

I don't know what that means. But I'm running just the stock rom.
Go into settings/About device/Software version. At the very top you will see which rom version you're on. The last three letters is the version you have. Look in my Hybrid Edition rom thread in the 3rd post in mods section. I only made the zips for NK2 but I can make the NIE mods later. Most pople have probably upgraded to NK2. Find out if your rom is odexed or deodexed before flashing and download the one you need.

Yep It is NIE. Now how do I tell if it is odexed or deodexed?
Unless you have flashed a custom rom on your phone you still have the factory installed odexed rom. If you have fladhed a stock odin rom .tar then it will also be odexed. If you never flashed a custom rom you will be odexed. I went through a bit of trouble making the odexed hotspot mod. Its very rarely done for stock odexed roms. But I know theres people out there who want it for their stock rom.
