I was trying to flash a rom but now, the phone keeps rebooting/hanging. I can access HBOOT using the volume down/power key but I have a mac so I cant use the .exe file to flash the image back. Is there any version that I could put on the SD card of the phone and get it to flash?
thanks!

ever heard of a program called parallels desktop? is a program for running windows software on a mac, a virtual machine.
edit: actually virtualbox is free http://virtualbox.org
Thanks but that will involve me buying Windows as well and would much rather prefer not doing that. Any other suggestions?
If you tried flashing a rom, you probably have a custom recovery, right?
Why not just boot to recovery, wipe and flash a custom rom.

Download the live CD in post 2 and boot your mac from it then in terminal type
sudo mkdir /mnt/cdrom
sudo mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
cd /mnt/cdrom/desire
sudo ./step2.sh
I had the same problem a few days ago and this solved it. Hope it helps.
By the way make sure you burn the disc as an ISO and burn it at the slowest speed possible or it will not boot.
chose your device and download the mac virgin here

Thanks very much- will give this a shot!
Just thinking, have you tried entering recovery from the boot screen?
Select recovery then hold power and up when red triangle appears.
If you don't have an SLCD screen just rename this file to PB99IMG.zip, put it on your goldcard, and boot into hboot:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.zip
I managed to get hold of a Windows machine but when I try to flash it, it says battery level below 30% which is NOT the case as the same battery on my other Desire shows 84%

You can't flash a generic ROM on a branded phone without a goldcard. If your phone was from Vodafone but didn't have any Vodafone branding it may be an unbranded phone, in which case this will work without one.
The phone doesnt have a Vodafone logo on it but when I start up the screen showed a vodafone logo before booting into HTC Sense.

When I do that, I get an error "CID Incorrect - Update Failed"
How can I make a Gold Card if this phone is not booting? Would REALLY appreciate if someone can help out.
Well- some progress:
If I hold the volume down and press power, I can see the HBOOT-0.83.0001 screen. From here, I went into Fastboot and connected the device through USB to a Windows PC. The screen on the Desire is still visible and says Fastboot USB.
I then try to flash "RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_1.19.161.5.." since this is a Vodafone unit. The device is recognized by the Windows ROM Update utility and tells me the "From" Image Version is 1.24.161.3 and the "To" Image Version is 1.19.161.5. I click on next. It starts the "Sending" process , then Updating Signature but then gives a Bootloader Version Error saying Please get correct ROM update.
Any idea where I can get the correct ROM update which I'm assuming is 1.24.161.3?
USB Brick and brick sdcard, please help
Hi
Maybe giving a bit more detail about what happened to get the usb/sd bricked would help people to reply you
My device is connected to the PC does not recognize the Android and the recovery. currently no driver error: "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"
(Sorry for my English which should not be used goolge translate)
Do you have ROOT??
I unbricked my Desire yesterday so I know how to do it (only with ROOT).
Just download the correct RUU for your region from one of the post in this forum. Connect the USB cable, run the RUU exe and it flash your phone back to the OTA ROM.
I was put on the original room and then proceed boot, successfully run the STEP1, STEP2, but to the error can not enter the recovery

it's very strange, I have exactly the same problem since yesterday!
SD Card brick is resolved by this command in fastboot mode :
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
But USB Brick is not resolved and my phone no longer root how can I do? I tried unsuccessfully Z4 root, is there another software to root without USB?
My capital is very little English, I did follow the instructions at the link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639. But it is not possible, please provide detailed guidance and may include images is very good.

Hi, I had the Same Problems some Minutes ago. (I was using the new AmonRA Recovery to flash a new ROM).
Here are the Steps what I have done to solve my problem (Rooted ROM is required):
1.) Download Android SDK -> Then open a comand Line and change into the Tools Directory:
cd path\to\AndroidSDK\tools
2.) You need to know your CID.
Turn your Phone into fastboot mode (Pressing Back and Power On). Then in your Comand Line do:
fastboot oem boot
The log will say something like the following:
CODE
.
.
.
#INFOCID is T-Mob101
In this specific case, the CID is T-Mob101.
3.) Get and extract the the attached Rescue.zip File.
Open the File "misc.img" in a hex Editor of your Choice and change "T-MOB101" to your CID
3.) Turn your Phone again into fastboot mode (Pressing Back and Power On) then go to your Command Line and do:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 (This will enable your SD Card to be seen in your favorite explorer on your phone)
then "Reboot"
4.) Then get the two files to your SD-Card (email them or dropbox them or what ever).
5.) Open a Terminal Emulator (http://www.appbrain.com/app/android-terminal-emulator/jackpal.androidterm) on our Phone
enter:
su (Enter to get Superuser Rights)
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image (this will copy the file to /data, therefore you need root!)
cat /sdcard/misc.img > /data/misc.img (this will copy the file to /data, therefore you need root!)
chmod 755 /data/flash_image (this makes the file "flash_image" executable)
/data/flash_image misc /data/misc.img (this will execute flash_image the result will be that you overwrite your misc section)
Reboot.
Everything should be ok
Ok this is a bit weird cos my usb got bricked yesterday too but a lot of searching i have managed to get it sorted. i lost root too so used this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9056719&postcount=15 its similar to the above but for people who have lost root.
I've already re rooted and back on my leedroid2.2b
Guys can i just ask if your usb got bricked after you s-offed your desire and upgraded to the new amon ra recovery
I "S-OFF'ed" my Device some Time ago without any Problems. Today I flashed the new AmonRA via Unrevoked. Everthing went fine. After Flashing a new ROM (Oxygen) i had the mentioned USB/SD-Card Problem.
I was able to access my Device via Fastboot and get into Recovery but my SD Card was not able to be mounted anymore. (Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)).
Also i was stuck in a Bootloop after the "S-OFF Bootlogo".
After "fixing" the SD Card Problem, i was able to Boot the new Rom, access the SD Card via FIle Explorer, but my Device was not recognized properly while connected via USB. Something like "unrecognized Quallcom Device" Driver not found.
Yeah i had similar experience i had i flashed new amon ra via fastboot then backed up my leedroid2.2b rom via rom manager just cos i could rename it easily then booted into amon ra wiped and flashed latest leedroid. On the reboot it decided to reboot on the spalsh screen a few times and then the boot animation started when i booted i realised i had sd problem but wasn't aware of usb so ended up going the long way around
Hi guys,
Well basically, I've been a massive idiot and somehow my HTC Desire is now non-responsive. I am running the Oxygen rom from a nandroid backup that I had done previously but now i am unable to access recovery at all. The phone does power on. I do the usual power + back button hold to get into the bootloader then recovery and do the usual ./recovery-mac.sh command in terminal but all I get in response is this now:
mac:~ Dan$ ./recovery-mac.sh
Desire Recovery Mode
Pushing required files to device...
Password:
error: device not found
error: device not found
mac:~ Dan$ error: device not found
I can access the MicroSD card through a computer but the phone won't recognize there is one. WiFi works (but can't download anything from market), radio doesn't as no signal and of course 3G is out of the question.
Is there a solution to my problem?!
From a person in dying need.
EDIT:
Since trying to work this out I have reformatted the microSD card and replaced its contents afterwards, still to no avail.
Try to flash stock ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
Be careful to select the appropriate RUU.
Turn your phone in fastboot (back + power) and run the exe file. You very probably might need a goldcard. Search the forum for that. Good luck !
you're going to have to talk me through this (step by step) like i'm an idiot please paul! i've downloaded the appropriate RUU but i'm not sure how to apply it. help?

Start your phone in fastboot --> Hold Back button + press power
You should get a menu which has as title FASTBOOT.
Connect your phone to your PC and then run the exe file. You must have HTC Sync installed.
If this fails try making a goldcard. You can find a tutorial here: http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
the computer won't recognise the phone paul. am going to have to try and make a goldcard i guess. :/
okay i am completely stuck. i have previously made a goldcard but this is just ridiculous now. my sdcard contains the clockwork mod folder so why can't i boot into recovery, what is going wrong with it? if i boot up i'm stuck on the oxygen rom, cant install anything as wifi wont download stuff as sd card isnt recognized (tell me why?), have sporadic signal, no 3g whatsoever.
can someone please explain step by step how to get recovery working again.
bumpbumpbump
So whats your current status?
Your Desire boots into ROM, but doesnt work well.
You cannot but into recovery.
You made a gold card.
Flashing a RUU didnt work.
Your SD is not recognized by the phone or by PC? Is it the goldcard you made?
Correct?
i haven't been able to make a goldcard, i have one previously that i cannot find.
the desire boots into the oxygen rom, ver. 2.0.3 but will not recognise the sd card inserted and wont connect to a mac or computer and show up as a device. i cannot boot into recovery at all as i just get device not found.

yes ^^
Do you only use Mac or have you access to a pc, too?
If you can get your phone into USB Debugging mode, you can try to flash a brand new recovery via fastboot command.
Maybe your rom got corrupted somehow.
If neither of this works, you should try another sd card I guess.
how do you use the fastboot command?
i have used the ./recovery-mac.sh command in terminal but whats this fastboot command and where can i get it?
EDIT:
I now have fastboot but whenever i try the command ./fastboot-mac flash recovery.img it ends up saying permission denied. is this because i am S-ON?

Hello,
To start off, I want to say that I DID search on this forum, for similar threads, and while I did find some, I couldn't find out how to do it.
My Phone:
HTC One X
S-ON
Rooted
Locked bootloader
ROM: Android Revolution HD
CID: HTC__E11
I flashed my current ROM a while ago, but I really cannot remember doing it and I deleted the backup I made before flashing (I always back up before flashing) because I thought I was running the stock ROM (without trouble) and I needed space.
What I want to do now, is get rid of EVERYTHING and just reset it to what it was when I first booted it, when that's all done, I want to root it again and unlock the bootloader.
The problem is that I can't find the appropriate RUU. I've been looking for it for a good while now, but I can't seem to find it.
I've downloaded OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.27-2.17.401.2_release_298985n1wwcwzs385c0bvz.zip from
htcruu.com/ index.php?dir=Endeavor (not allowed to put links here, sorry) and I put that in my SDCard directory.
When I tried to flash it (I don't know whether I am supposed to or not, but I only got a .zip and no .exe...) it did not work.
If you need the error, tell me and I'll do it again.
Regards,
Pim
If you can't find a ruu, you can use a stock nandroid backup. You can find a collection of them at general if I remember correctly.

Yes. Previous poster is correct. Download that file.
Do not put it on your sdcard.
Plug your phone into PC
Reboot into hboot by holding power & volume down for about 20seconds.
Press power button to go to fastboot
Open a cmd window and run fastboot oem lock to relock your bootloader
Run your ruu as administrator on your PC by right clicking and pressing open as administrator
Follow the instructions on your PC to flash the ruu

Thanks a lot, but I'm still having trouble :s
I connect my phone to my pc via USB when I am looking at these options on my screen:
- HBOOT
- REBOOT
- REBOOT BOOTLOADER
- POWER DOWN
When I type "fastboot oem lock" in cmd, I get the following response:
" 'fastboot' is not recognized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file ".
And when I run the RUU (as administrator) I get "Error [170]: USB CONNECTION ERROR".
Regards,
Pim
Do you have HTC drivers installed and java SDK platform files ?
Have you ever used fastboot commands ?
Do you have a fastboot folder on the pc with fastboot/adb files in it ? When you connect the phone to the pc and put in bootloader menu you should see something like fastboot USB
Download this
http://db.tt/ldx3qOOU
And put the folder in c:\
So you have
C:\fastboot\ files in the folder
Open a dosprompt in that folder and type
Fastboot devices while the phone is still in bootloader menu If it comes up with your serial its good

Hello,
First of all, I'd like to apologize for leaving so suddenly, but I had some other, more important, things on my mind.
Thanks for the link, but when I try to do that (and follow all the instructions I get on the screen), it all goes well, until just after "erasing user data", when I get the error as seen in the attachments.
When I started my phone, I had to fill in the basic questions, but I later found out that all my files were still there, while the apps themselves had been uninstalled...
I figured some general stuff out, and adb and fastboot are now *finally* working as they should.
Regards,
Pim
EDIT: Since I'm not quite sure whether or not the attachments are working, I uploaded them to imgur:

Well, I've just downloaded the correct RUU, but I'm currently getting error 155: unknown error...
I'm kinda clueless about what to do now...

So the stock recovery should be 1.29 based

I'm currently updating to Jelly Bean, and then I'll root it again etc. If I'm right, S-OFF is possible for the One X these days, right?
If so, would anyone know an easy and clear tutorial?

Ok guys i'm in a real problem!
I cannot make or receive phone calls for one week... it all started when I got bored with the original OS of the HTC One M9, so I rooted the phone and installed CM13 following some tutorial on the internet (its the first time I root and install a custom rom in my life).. when I finished, I was verry happy until I discovered that I cannot make or receive calls, I searched for solutions, and I tried them (installing gapps, uninstalling capps, set phone app as default app...) but none of them worked. So I installed slim roms hoping that this can be the solution, but the same problem is stilling. I installed then android revolution HD and the problem disappeared, it was not solved, it disappeared because this rom didn't event boot. I reinstalled cyanogemod in order to use my phone for things in which it stills usable, and decided to return to the stock rom (the boring one). I found a good tutorial in droidviews.com, in which he said that in order to successfully install it i have to:
- Download the right ruu.
- Change the cid and the mid.
For the ruu file I found the zip file for the same version used in the tutorial (1.32.401.8).
Now when I try to change the cid using this command:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
It says:
Code:
...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.006s
After googling it, the problem seems to be caused by 'S-ON', so I have to 'S-OFF' the phone. I downloaded sunshine and run it but the app shows an error saying:
SunShine encountered problems with your rom. Please flash a stock, or more near stock rom and try again

I'm really confused.
To install a stock rom i have to change cid.
To change cid i have to S-OFF the phone.
To S-OFF the phone i have to install a stock rom.
You don't need S-OFF to install a RUU unless you're trying to apply a RUU that doesn't match your phone CID & MID. In that case, you would need to achieve S-OFF and then change your CID.
However, odds are fairly good that there is a RUU for your phone. You'll need to 1) find out your CID & MID (instructions below), 2) look it up on the SKU-, CID- and MID-List by Sneakyghost and Behold_this (link below), 3) find the matching RUU in Flippy498's Google Sheet (link below), and then follow the instructions in that same sheet to install the RUU.

HTC Sync Manager
- installs the necessary drivers & ADB tools for the HTC M9
Instructions for obtaining your CID, MID & software version on Windows:
a. Install HTC Sync Manager (this will install the necessary drivers & ADB tools)
b. Boot your phone into download mode (from a powered off state, turn on by holding the POWER+DOWNVOL)
c. Connect your phone to your PC
d. Open a command prompt window
e. Navigate to the ADB tools folder, typically C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Sync Manager\HTC Sync
- assuming the path is correct, you can cut & paste this command into your terminal: cd C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Sync Manager\HTC Sync
f. Execute the following command in a terminal (command prompt): fastboot getvar all
g. Copy the lines that mention product, version-main, mid, and cid.

RUU won't flash via TWRP.
You need to place the file on the root of your external SD card and rename it 2PQ9IMG.
Unless the RUU is an exe?

RUU won't flash via TWRP.
You need to place the file on the root of your external SD card and rename it 2PQ9IMG.
Unless the RUU is an exe?

Dude, read the posts above, I got the name wrong, that's for the HTC 10, yours should be 0PJAIMG.zip
Apologies on my behalf for getting that wrong.
Once it's named correctly, go in to download mode and the file will be recognized, follow the instructions on your phone from then on.

in download mode it says:
FILE /mnt/media_rw/ext_sd/0PJAIMG.zip File NOT FOUND

From flippys thread.....
Be aware that you need an external SD card for your phone that is not bigger than 32 gb.
(The size limit doesn't apply to phones with firmware version 3.x or higher.)
01. Download the correct RUU.zip for your phone.
02. Rename the file to "0PJAIMG.zip".
03. Copy the file to the root directory of a SD card which is formatted to fat32. (If you're on firmware version 3.x or higher you can use an exfat formatted SD card, too.) Sometimes this is only possible if the SD card is directly connected to your PC and not put into your phone. I don't know why some M9s refuse the copy process.
04. Put the card into your phone and boot to Download Mode.
05. You will be asked whether you want to flash the file. Confirm with the volume up button.
06. Your phone will reboot at least one time. Depending on your current firmware version it may reboot to Android instead of rebooting to Download Mode. If this happens you just need to shut your phone down and manually boot it to Download Mode.
07. Flashing may take some time.
08. At the end you will be asked to push the power button. You phone will shut down if you do so.
09. Wait some seconds and then turn your phone on, again.
10. First boot may take a while.
11. Congrats! Your system is now stock and able to receive and install official OTAs, again.

I don't think it would have hurt a thing beyond adding a little frustration for the OP. On the upside, I learned something new about HTC RUU versions!

Nah, just wouldn't have done anything.
Glad someone learned something. Everyday is a school day

I did all that and everything went good. But when I boot the phone it always opens the bootloader mode.
