[Q] Hdmi Not Showing anything - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so whenever i plug my Hdmi cable in, i get a notification about Hdmi telling me to play a video or something like that. I tried to play a video and use the gallery app, nothing shows up. I even tried FullHdmi and HdmiwIn telling me my cable isnt connected.
Rom: Myns RLS5
Kernel: Netarchy 4.3.4 With HdmiwIn
I even tried plugging in the Hdmi cable while my Tv is off, not working. This is my 2nd Hdmi cable both having the same problem. Any help this is really frustrating
Also tried 2 tvs

are you using a case with your evo? if so try using the cable with the case off of the evo. that was my problem, cable looks plugged in but it's not. had to trim down the rubber around the cable to make it work with the case on.

im not 100%, but i think that only certain things play thru hdmi regularly. try something like FullHDMI for HTC EVO or HDMIwin from the android market, which should put the phone screen right on the tv no matter what you're doing.

HDMI freezes; anyone know the cause of this?

I have read plenty of people who have the same problem. When I plug in the phone to the tv via hdmi the phone freezes and resets. I have not found a solution for this. It seems like it is really hit and miss. Any help?
anyone? please?
I'm not sure if this helps but I had the same issue and switched to another HDMI port on my TV and it worked flawlessly.. I notice that the port i was trying to use shows up on the TV menu as HDMI/DVI for some reason even though it is clearly NOT a DVI port
Your cable is probably bad. Mine started to freeze up after working fine for two weeks. I checked the cable and the cord was coming apart at the top by the full hdmi connector.
Two new monoprice cables I got since have been flawless. The first was an amzer from ebay.

[Q] How to HDMI Out (unrooted) Evo 4G?

Okay so I am sorry for the extreme n00b question here, but I have done some forum searching and some googling to no avail. How do I use HDMI out on my OG Evo 2.3.3 OTA Unrooted? I know you can show videos and such using a cord, but mine does not seem to want to do it. I have followed all instructions indicated by the HTC User Guide and from various sites and forums and it is not working. Could it be an issue with my port? How would I know? And, lastly, what can I do? I am covered under TEP from Sprint and I have no mods on my phone. Any help is appreciated and will be thanked.
When you plug in the cable to the phone and tv, and turn your tv to that input, you should see an hdmi icon in the notification bar. If you are not, then its either a bad cable or a bad port.

That is what I found to do elsewhere and it has not worked. I've used two cables (both bought from Amazon.com) and neither have worked. They fit the phone just fine and they plug into the television just fine but then nothing happens. Other HDMI devices work fine on the television. I think it may just be the port. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a 2.2 refurb. Thanks for your help anyway.

HDMI output

Has anyone used the HDMI option on their A100? I have been trying to get it to work for the last 45 minutes and cant. The tablet recognizes that a HDMI cable is plugged in, but I get no display on my tv. Ive tried connecting directly to my tv and also tried going through my surround sound receiver.
Im using a micro hdmi cable that came with my Motorola Atrix 4G. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
Thanks.
I've used an hdmi to micro hdmi cable from monoprice and it worked perfectly. I used a 15 ft cable and the screen was crisp and clear. A little stretch on the sides, but bearable...

I ran into the same problem with my HDMI out. Initially, I got nothing, so I switched to a different cable. After a delay of a couple seconds, I was able to get a signal BUT it would drop if the cable moved even the slightest bit. I played with it for a while, but it was obvious that there was a problem with the physical connection. I returned the tablet to Wally-World for a replacement, and the new one works perfectly.
Thanks for the responses guys. Im going to try a new cable and if that doesn't work I'll go for a replacement.

[Q] Captivate Glide Reboot when Plugging in MHL Adapter

Running SGH-I927RUXKJ5_STOCK_ROOTED. Phone reboots when plugging in a Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter. Upon reboot phone operates normally but no display on the external monitor. Anybody have MHL adapter working on Captivate Glide? Thanks for any help.
I ordered mine on ebay.
Phone doesn't reboot when connecting MHL cable.
But no video output to HDMI ...
I'm running Rogers ROM + Cranium kernel.
Edit :
it works !
You just need to connect the adapter to the power supply.
Just tested it with a HDMI videoprojector.
Powerpoint presentation displayed full screen.
Video file as well.
No lag at all.
Didn't check if audio was routed through HDMI (the videoprojector I used doesn't support it).

I can confirm that audio works. Anything you can see or hear on the phone goes to the TV.
I get video but no audio but that might be because of my audio setup.
I have tried it as well with a MHL adapter I bought at Monoprice and you do get audio. I have noticed sometimes it does not work though when I plug it in. I do not know why. I am wondering if the MHL adapter I bought is flaky or if Our phone is sometimes picky.
i checked the connection, video and sound work great.
No connection loss.
Connection works everytime I connect the cable.

Have you any issues with the length of your HDMI cable I found 3 feet works but 10 feet does not did not try a 6 foot as did not have 1 at the time. I think it can not be to long as it needs power from the micro USB and too long may not have enough power. Just curious on the length of your HDMI?

The cable I used was 6 feet long.
It worked great. It had no impact on video quality or sound quality.

Are you asking where to download SGH-I927UCLG9, or are you asking whether SGH-I927UCLG9 is compatible with hdmi, or what are you asking?
What makes it work?
Is the MHL functionality connected to the ROM you use, or the device? or both? I have a kitkat rom and was hoping that would make it work, but it doesn't, and didn't with the official Ice Cream Sandwich version either.
I don't have an MHL adapter, but I'd try cleaning the USB connector on the phone. The reason I say this is that my i927 would sometimes have trouble connecting to the PC by USB and often, when receiving a phone call, it'd switch to car mode, as if I had a car accessory connected.
I cleaned the connector on my phone by rubbing the contacts first with an x-acto blade, then with a piece of paper with WD40 backed by the blade and finally with another piece of paper with ethyl alcohol. Don't forget to remove the battery before trying this and be very gentle to avoid breaking the connector.

Whenever I go to plug it in it constantly goes off and on...Im guessing something is jacked with the port bc whenever I have the phone at a certain angle it works but then once I move the phone bam it stops working and the output to TV goes black...It cant be anything with the HDMI cable bc Ive tried three, & all three work on my XBOX360...Trying to find a tutorial for the HDMI port. The speaker looks pretty easy to swap out.

so the HDMI port is a little jacked up? also i managed to get my speaker working without a replacement, all you need is a needle, and it should work, i could post a video if you like, and if it doesnt work yyou can just go ahead and by another.
If you can post a video on how to fix it with the needle that would be great. I ordered one any ways they are cheap.

Is there anyway to get a video to fix the HDMI port?

It doesn't work. Thought installing a new hdmi port could fix it to like new condition. Also, I thought the method to fix the speaker is by using a magnet? Your video talks about using a pin?

I used my method, and it worked fine. You can try it if you like. Also, does the little HDMI logo pop-up on the notification bar, sometimes I have problems getting it to work also, a reboot helps, go into your settings and make sure it's on automatic. And make sure whatever you're plugging it into is searching for signal

At times it works but the cord has to be angled a certain way. If you dont have it setup exactly at the right angle you lose signal....The only way I can get it to work is by holding the phone & HDMI cord a certain way...I know it has something to do with the port bc Ive tried the HDMI cord on an XBOX and it works fine...I just got the HDMI port in the mail today but I dont have any video on how to remove & install a new one.

I was thinking it was the cord but. The hdmi should be the same way as removing the charger port. You'll need to open the phone and solder very carefully. I recommend taking this to a phone store, make sure it's not a retail store like Verizon it something, like a cheap repair place. Tell them you have the part and they will only charge labor, ask how much the labor costs, mine cost$10. That's the only way I know how to fix that hdmi port

Well are there any other tests I can do to figure out if its the HDMI port or cord? I always thought it was the port bc even my charger port is somewhat loose & if I dont angle a cord correctly it wont charge my phone..

maybe trying another cord? if its doing it on BOTH charger port and hdmi then thats just wierd.. but try another cord and if the same problem maybe both ports got loose, it happens.
Ok I got the HDMI to work it was the HDMI cord that was causing the problem. I used a MOTORola HDMI cord & it worked perfectly! But now I was getting slow downs with my ROM & decided to wipe it to get rid of unneeded apps and data. Well now when I go use the HDMI app it doesnt work!! It says cable undetected but it obviously shows on the tv that its getting a signal...wthhh!?
