Move pictures from internal to sd card? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How would I do that?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

U can conect your phone to a computer with a usb cable and do so or use a file explorer to move ur files...
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App

Or you can use a file manager on your phone
Edit: woops mentioned above

I use Astro file manager. Go to MNT/EMMC/DCIM/100MEDIA and your photos should be in there. I would copy the 100MEDIA folder (Longpress/Edit/Copy or move, then move back up to MNT and go to SDCARD/DCIM/ and you can paste them there. Or you can just put them on the root of the card if you want.
Also you can set the camera to store to SD card in the camera settings.

Thank you BrettApple. The first couple pics i took (my grandparents and a party and such) were saved to internal because i didnt know of the option. Thank you guys!

I think my sd card reader is broken

I dropped my phone the other day and my gallery and all the other apps that require my sd card say no SD card detected. I've tried two different cards and am convinced it is broken or not functional. Has anyone had this problem? If so, any fix for it?
Update: I booted up in to clockwork and it read it there.

Do you have a PC access to a SD Card Reader?
You could copy all the files off; format it (fat32) and then put the files back on and put it back in the phone.
I've already tried a different card and it didn't work either

If it reads it in clockwork I would try Odin to full stock and see if it works there. Best method for finding out if it hardware or software.

I guess I'll have to. What build do you suggest?

SD Card loses detection
My Samsung Epic 4G's SD card loses connection at random times. In the middle of recording a video, or when idle, and it will not restore full function until I restart the phone.
When it fails, I cannot take pictures or video, or view my gallery. It says no SD card detected. When viewing the "My Files" folder or storage space meter, it still shows the card's folder directories, the files in them, how much free space is available, and I can open and view individual files and photos from there, but I cannot delete or modify them until I restart the phone.
It could not be connected by USB to the computer through the phone. It made connect and disconnect sounds rapidly and repeatedly.
The card works fine and transfers files to the computer with the MicroSD card adapter.
Disconnect problem persists after I removed all videos and photos to free 95% of the 16gb card's space.
Should I reformat?

The point of having a micro sd card slot

is? If I cant see it in some apps or file explorer?

Thanks, I now see astro can see my micro sdcard and I can install apps that way but why does samsung make their file structure so limiting?

Youre running stock? I'm wondering if stock doesnt have this problem. Didnt bother checking.
Some apps such as Root Explorer you will find it located at mnt/extSdCard. Also for some app settings you can point to that. It works for me anyway.
EDIT: Ok just downloaded ES File explorer and figured it out. If you're rooted check 'root explorer' on and check 'Up to root'. Once you do that you can go up to parent folder and select mnt. There you will find /extSdCard.

Issue is your apps can't use external sd card which sucks and no current rom from what I read fixes this because it is a Google screw up on purpose in Ics and jelly bean. You can only use internal memory to install apps now and I am pretty sure Google is doing this on purpose so you store more in their cloud and they can harvest your data more easily for targeted ads. If you install a lot of games from game loft forget it your 16gb internal memory is shot quick and your large sd card is sitting there empty.

Create a folder called external_sd on your internal sd card and download the app ics sd binder and it will mount it to there

In ES Explorer you have to go to settings to allow "Root" in order to see your micro sd card in /mnt/extsdcard.
I'm certainly no expert here, but I don't think Google/Samsung have a conspiracy going. Coming from the Linux world, it's a common thing to mount storage under /mnt. The location of the external sd was also a bit weird on my last phone, the Moto Atrix. When it came out it took a while for app developers to adjust their programs to accommodate it (i.e., Titanium Backup). Hopefully the same will happen soon with the S III. As for the ability to move apps to the external sd, I'm not so sure that's a good idea anyway. For me doing that on any Android phone has always been somewhat problematic. I pretty much just use the sd for media storage now.

I dont need root (I dont even have root access on this phone) and I can see my SD card with any apps and I never needed to mount the card either.
I dont know what you are all doing wrong.

Or maybe they just don't want to make average users go through a file explorer if possible?
It's not a conspiracy, even if you think it is.

Can't delete nandroids on ROM Manager

I've always used ROM manager to make, rename or delete a nandroid. The app shows that there are no backups but when I go into CWM it shows there are 6! I tried to save my current setup and was unable to because there is no available memory.
Those 6 are clogging up potential available space does anybody know how else I can delete them?? I searched a bunch of files in Root Explorer but couldnt find anything. I want to check out TWRP because I hear a lot of hype about it but need to get this situation dealt with first.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated

Did you set up which location you're storing it in... In ROM manager that is. You should check out both your emmc and sd card or uhhh depending on your Rom, sdcard and ext

There it is, nice!! External SD Card. I can't believe I overlooked that file. Thank you for the help!
I obviously can't see what's right in front of my face, I swear I could be in a room with an elephant and not even know it was there :silly:
Yeah you could set up ROM manager to external sd card so you can organize it that way lol. And that phrase is totally used out of context but works lol

How do I get a file manager to read external SD card?

Hi, sorry if this a noob-ish type question. But I just installed an external 8GB microSD card on my GSIII and can't figure out how to get a file manager to read external SD. I'm using ES file manager and that only reads what's in the internal SD. Although it does show up in phone settings under storage.
But I was curious if it was possible to move files between internal and external SD cards from your phone, and run apps from your external SD card, as in apps2sd. Is that possible yet? I am rooted and using primarily CM10 and Aokp jellybean based ROMs.
Sorry, I'm coming from an Evo 4G and so I'm a bit turned around with this new phone. Ha.

In ES File Explorer, go to favorites. It should show /mnt/extsdcard in there.
I use Astro file explorer, but yes you you can cut them from sdcard and paste to ext_sd in the file explorer.

Duh, I feel embarrassed for not even checking under "Favorites". Thank you for responding.

Don't be embarrassed. I think its a really stupid thing in ES to do. I wish they'd change it, though I know where it is now but it took me forever to find... just like you.
Why they do this I have no idea - but it is stupid
Been looking all over to find out how to access external memory on my Asus Transformer Pad. Thanks!
Zarchiver is a pretty good app as well found it a lot easier for me

[Q] How to move apps from internal to SD card?

hey yall just wanting someone to explain in simple terms how to move my apps from internal storage to SD card. like 85% of my internal space is taken up by apps. i know technically its not supposed to affect performance but i think it is in a secondary way. can someone please explain how to transfer apps and if it can be done with a file explorer app or if it has to be done in PC?
TIA
Go for Link2SD! One and only solution!

In settings applications manage applications click on each one. If the move to USB button is not greyed out hit it.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Just make sure you don't use a widget with an app you want to move. It won't work if the apps on the sd card.
