Hello
Need some help with the android "themed" market in warm two point two.
On first run it was nicely themed. Nothing downloaded, but on second run it was back to the original green/white color.
I know I saw a fix for this, but after looking for an hour I cant for the life of me find it again.
Can someone help with this issue on how to keep it themed?
Theres also a second issue where the text is white on the white background so I cant read descriptions or reviews in the app.
You can go to applications>market>uninstall updates. Then if you have titanium back up you can freeze the market updater. Or if you have root explorer you can just rename the market updater to something like marketupdater.back

You have two options on keeping a themed market. (the reason it changes, is that it's auto-updating itself). Option 1, disable the 'marketupdater.apk', and revert the market back to Myn's. It won't update anymore, and you're market will be slightly out of date, but that affects nothing. Mine's out of date too. Option 2, is download and flash an up to date themed market from here on XDA. THey are in the themes and apps section. To do option 1, use root explorer (or any root level file explorer. You can use Titanium backup to freeze the app too) to navigate to /system/app. Find "marketupdater.apk" Change the .apk to .bak. That will disable the market updater, and your market will no longer auto update itself. This just means that the 'market itself' won't update. All your apps and everything will still alert you for updates as normal. Once you disabled the market updater, go to your homescreen. Hit menu>settings>applications>manage applications. Select the 'all' tab. Find your market in there, and click on it. At the top is a button that says uninstall updates. Click that. Then you're done, market should be back to Myn's themed market. No more auto updating. Good luck. And as I said, you can use titanium backup to 'freeze' the marketupdater if you want, rather than using root explorer. Eitehr way is fine.
EDIT: ignore link i posted.

Wouldn't you be missing some features though with the older version of the market? For example, isn't RLS5 from prior to the web market being enabled? And there could be security fixes or other improvements in the newer market releases as well.

I applied the latest RUU for the Droid Incredible (November 2010 Edition). In the past, I always updated the phone, Got Root Access and performed a Nandroid Backup before removing all the Bloatware/Crapware on my phone.
However, this time I am getting very different results.
After the Nandroid, I delete everything I don't want via Root Explorer. I would delete the obvious ones such as City ID, VZ Nav, Teeter, and a bunch of HTC widgets like Footprints, Contacts Calculator, etc.
I was told that if I go into my settings and 'Clear Data' on HTC Sense that it will get rid of the shortcut to the deleted widgets on the Add Widget Window. It always worked in the past except not on this release.
I have reinstalled the RUU several times to make sure it wasn't a n installation error (of course I am performing a wipe). Any one have any suggestions.
Also is there an updated list of what programs are safe to remove?
Thanks.
Why not flash a "senseless ROM"? there are a number of them out there. You lose the stock Rosie and are forced to use either ADW or Launcher Pro. They alsy delete many of the things you have no interest in keeping.
Just another option.
Because I like Sense. I love the HTC Calendar Widget, HTC Clock Widget (with the full screen weather animation), HTC Tip Calculator and the stock HTC Keyboard (Hence why there is also an equal amount of Sense ROMs out there too).
Nothing I have seen out there comes close to what I like.
I've always just used the system app remover from the market

Thanks. I'll give that a shot and report back.
Edit: No doesn't work. I uninstalled System App Remover and Got Refunded. It looks like it can't be done because even the Virtuous ROM has the same issue. Oh well maybe in time someone will figure it out.

I would try removing the apps with Titanium Backup if you haven't. That's what I normally use to remove bloatware. If you "Freeze" the apps, the widgets may be removed, also.
Also, could someone let me in on the secret for adding a custom signature with my ROM/Kernel/Radio/Phone/etc.? I'm new to XDA.
The widgets are gone it's the shortcut for them that need to be removed. RMK had a method of removing these prior to Froyo update 1 which doesn't work anymore.
If you know what the app names are, you can use 7 zip to remove the apk's from the app folder before flashing the Rom.

It works. It gets rid of the garbage shortcuts now. However, you can't put widgets on your homescreens anymore. Very weird. Because the widgets I want to put on my screen are installed.

I'll give that a shot too. However, without even doing it, I think it won't work because of the SQL entries left behind.
I am just being real anal. The garbage widgets shouldn't bother me but I want it to be clean.

Did you ever manage to work out how to remove the deleted widgets from the list?
It seems liks Google started using the new market. What do you guys think about it? I kinda like it
I downloaded the apk and tbh its well better than the old one graphically. The widget section is welcomed and the overall look is just great

I uninstalled the updates (installed 2.2.6 APK), shut down, powered on my phone, checked the market and it updated itself automagically to 2.2.7.
It looks a bit nicer than the old one, although part of me misses the tabs - it works more fluidly than before - haven't had any downloads crash out on me either yet which is a good sign.
how do you get the new market? i dont see any updates on my desire running on cm 6.1.0
One day you'll wake up and it's there. No visible updates, just Google magic.
I just got it today. When I open the market apps it there already. The UI looks good.

or find an APK for it... i.e. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877330
More to the point, how do I get rid of it.
Using appbrain I can uninstall the market and briefly use the old one, until it updates itself again later.
And I can't believe google just added some eye candy, but the search function is still rubbish and there aren't any filters - tsk tsk.

I guess you could try uninstalling (from manage applications) and then try and find an old APK for the old market - that might stop updating itself

I wouldn't mind, except there's a big bug (on my Desire - Orange uk). Whenever my phone runs out of battery and I charge it and go to the market, then click on 'my apps' it only shows about a third of them. So I have no idea if I have any updates on the missing ones. The only way I've resolved this is to go into settings/applications and 'uninstall updates' on the marketplace. Briefly the old market comes back before being replaced by the new one, and all my apps are then visible in the market until the next time the power runs out. Very lame.

try clearing the data (and cache - why not) on the market - go back into it accept the terms and conditions, then let the apps refresh itself.

Doesn't work for me.
Also, I don't think I've had any updates for any apps since the new market came out. I'm hoping this is a coincidence and that Google tested at least that bit.
I have had updates with apps - not many but some since updating to the new market.
not sure why you aren't getting the update - maybe its phasing across handsets in some sort of random order...?

right now im using cyanogen mod 6.1 which doenst have the new market. is it possible for it to automatically update to the newer market even though im running a custom rom? or would i need to download the apk for it and manually update it myself?
I have this star with an orange circle dot inside it that pops up at around 5:30am (eastern time) almost everyday since a few days ago. When I pull down the top bar to see the notification, it is an advertizement that will open up an internet browser.
I would love to know how this is happening and what app it might be that is causing this. I have about 90 apps installed and dont want to go ahead and delete everything to hunt it down.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
BTW=running Calkulin's Evo2 Froyo rom.
Have you tried going into Settings > Applications > Running Services? You should be able to spot anything running that's out of the ordinary that way.
I did check, didnt see anything, but i will check again today as I bet it will pop-up today a few hours at 530am. Has anyone seen this as well??
here is an idea....
use titanium backup to FREEZE all USER APPS, except for ones that you are SURE are not it...then if you see that at 0530am it did not happen, unfreeze a number of them, maybe 10 or so. at the next 0530am continue this process...until you find the group of 10 that causes the problem to resume.
It's some rogue app that is pushing ads (AirPush). Go to the market and check the reviews on some of the latest apps you've downloaded. that'll help you track it down along with anthonyandrews's idea.

Initial nailed it. I recall this being discussed on the forum a short while back. Thats just ugly for an app to do that though.
out of curiosity, what was the app?
It's called heyzap. New way of ads.

The Ice cream Sandwich has a really mind blowing UI, Google tried to modify almost all system apps.
Here is some original app collections, which really works for Gingerbread & other older versions.
The Apps Collections
Android Market 3.2.0
Google Music 4.0.1
Google Maps 5.11.0
Street View 1.7.0.4
Google+ 2.0.0
Just install like a normal app. Will be updated as soon as more apps available.
If anyone has problems installing market 3.2.0, try this post. This may be helpful to you.

Note : There may be updated versions of the apps listed, but this is just a collection from Galaxy Nexus.
Any hope for the launcher? Or the browser? Or Somthing else interesting....
are those install APK, or just copy and replace over old APK ?
Market and Music installed ok.
Not having any luck with Maps and Street View. Do they even have any significant changes?
Maps is not 5.10.2
It's the ownhere/Brut.all 5.10.1 mod of the maps...

What is the problem ? :|
(This works only whit root -ed phones? )
Thanks you very much !
But I have the same prob than zoltank but for Music, Market et Google+ =/
It's not the first time i install the three but here, everytime "app not installed" and my phone is rooted so it's not that =/
Any ideas ?

Too bad no =(
Uninstall the Market, i came back on the 1st version on the Nexus but it's the same, now the update roll on and i'm again with 3.1.5.
No prob, that will coming in time =)
Thank you !
i was able to install everything except Market 3.2
i uninstalled the old one and wiped cache, kelvin, etc...
any ideas?
solved
rebooted the phone
then i was able to install
now that it's installed, i get Force Close every time i try to install something from market
going back to 3.1.5
Hi, if you are having trouble installing the market try this. Its what I did to get it working on my o2x
You will need root explorer

Market doesn't work on Galaxy S Plus
Thanks for these
Market works perfectly on rooted Flyer. The tiles fill out the screen nicer than 3.1.5. No force close issues. On edit: it drops an error when trying to get a non-free app....
G+ breaks the People (htccontacts.apk) app.
Music installs, but I use the HTC one so not much testing after install.
Maps, untested.
Street view, untested.
---
On edit: Maps installs and works. Street view errors on install.
G+ app works perfectly on stock N1 on 2.3.6, no adverse side effects. Been using it since it originally leaked a couple-ish weeks ago.

My guess is the ones already in the first post are the only ones that are gonna install on gingerbread. You can take all the apps from the galaxy nexus dump, put them in a folder on your sdcard, and browse to it with root explorer. you'll see the only ones that have none default icons are the ones in the first post. the ones with app icons are the only ones that actually install. all other give parsing errors since you need ICS to install them.

I can confirm that (RCMix3d Runny v3.1).
If you are like me, you hate the all white of default Sammy N because it's obnoxious and straining. I have figured out how to apply purchased themes to the N beta. I was not able to purchase new ones either. I would get an error, even if I had the links.
Go to the Galaxy Apps store and select Categories. At the top of that page there will be a themes banner. Click on that, then go to the three dots at the top. Hit "My Page" then "Purchased". Your themes should be there, and you'll be able to download and apply them.
*Added screenshots in second post. The full site corrupted the pics and the mobile app wouldn't let me add in an edit.*

The Galaxy Apps Store shows that it is installed, but I can't access it. Am I missing something? I don't have anything disabled.
I realized I can do this through Samsung Themes without having to go through the Galaxy Apps Store. Thanks!!!
Anyone else have issues with Ultra Powersaving Mode? I disabled it and after resetting my phone everything was blown up out of proportion, wallpaper reverted, quick toggles reverted, and several other setting reverts. Had a theme installed so it may be related during restoring theme.

I had that issue at first as well. The App store automagically appeared somehow. Going through themes should work, but I bet an error every time I try to do it through settings.

Yes free themes show up in your purchased library if you have downloaded them before.
