How do I disable Latitude in TB? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't utilize Latitude, and I was just wondering how one would freeze it in Titanium Backup because I don't see it listed?

I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that Latitudes is a part of Google Maps and is basically a shortcut to initiate the latitude layer of Google Maps and cannot be uninstalled. When I do a search of my device, there is a listing of the word, "latitude" in the /data/data/com.google.android.apps.maps/files/ folder. The filename is DATA_LATITUDE_WIDGET_MODEL. I renamed it temporarily and then did a hot restart. It had no effect. I was still able to initiate Latitude from both the app drawer and from within Google Maps.

Seeing how latitude is part of the maps app, you could try to uninstall updates on the maps app and then update it through the market. You can also just try clearing data on your maps app. That may or may not fix it. I wouldn't try to uninstall maps or related services directly, as they are pretty tied into the phone. You are better off just restoring the whole phone if the other two options I gave don't work (but they should)
I think when I tried to uninstall Latitude, the Maps app went away. So I reinstalled Maps (and Latitude came back as well). I just ignore Latitude.

Personally, my pet peeve with Latitude is that if you accidentally set it as a default launcher, you can't undo that. I've tried going through App Management (clear defaults), tried "ClearDefault" app on the market, nothing works ...
I'm about to try uninstalling it with Titanium and hoping that reinstalling Maps will set everything back to the way it was so I can select the right laucher when I try to view someone's address directly from the People App.
Has anyone else had problems clearing the default data for Latitude/Locations?

[Q] How do you freeze LATTITUDE?

Anybody know what file name Lattitude goes by? The reason I ask, is I have it on my phone and would like to keep it (sometimes I do use it), but I would like to freeze it in Titanium Pro, but I can't really find "Lattitude" in the applications listing. Does it go by something else? I'm betting it's built 'into' Google Maps somehow.
Here's my my fix, probably the only one that will work: Open up Maps, uncheck detect location, and sign out of Lattitude. Freeze maps and defrost, don't sign into Lattitude again, or if you do, redo this process.
If you are just looking to find that Latitude file download and run CatLog. Add CL as a widget then hit record, open and then close Latitude. Turn off log then review output to locate file you need to freeze.

Request - Shortcut to disable and enable google maps

So here's the issue. Google maps is great and useful, but even when you're not using it, it's running in the background and hogging up ram. Now, before you give me the old "android uses ram in a different way" speech, it's pretty obvious that maps doesn't take long to reopen even if it's been cleared from the ram. So it'd be better to have that ram freed up for multitasking purposes.
Also, constantly running in the background means it's draining some battery too.
The solution to this would be to disable maps when not using it and then reenable it when required. However, this takes time.
So, I was wondering if anyone could make a shortcut/app which let's us disable and enable the maps app with just the press of a button.
Freeze it using titanium back up

I have a list of apps I freeze n unfreeze regularly - like easy ums or paragon ntfs - I have the unfreez all widget to aim in quick access - but if you spent the time to make a filter in titianium your could have it unfreeze a particular app
Just go application manager > all > disable it, I'd saw uninstalled update then uninstall it and disable
Else, use titanium backup freeze it, don't be lazy keep on asking developer to do such thing

Titanium has a widget that lets you disable and enable a specific app. No need for a different app.
Tasker? It does wonders.
For me, it makes a new application called (New Maps) that unfreezes google maps, waits until it is unfrozen, launches it.
If maps has been inactive for the past XX minutes, it will automatically freeze it. (also set to be frozen on boot)
After this thread I found the TiBu action widget that will cycle through Freeze/Unfreeze&Open.
Pretty handy! Use it now for Facebook and Maps.

Am a fanatic tasker user myself, but never spend time on the 'new' app factory.
Would you care to share these profiles/scenes, waste of time to reinvent the wheel twice

2 profiles two tasks
Export new maps as an app and use it whenever you want to launch maps from a frozen state.
Set your own athome variable or modify it if you don't need two different timeout settings

Ok, after analyzing BBS past few nights I've determined even when you freeze something in TiBu, it doesn't actually remove the alarm wakeups from Alarm Manager. You need to do a restart to clear after freeze to truly remove its footprint.
Restart is rather annoying, anybody have any other thoughts on how to better accomplish the freeze process?

Can't clear location history on Maps 6.14.4

I need to clear my location history in Google Maps v6.14.4. In the past you had to uninstall it, the reinstall it. Then they improved it and all you had to do is go into App Manager and Clear Data. Nether works in this version. I also logged into my location history on the Google website and cleared all if it from there. I still can't keep it from popping up as a suggestion when I go to enter a destination. I have also tried several History erasers in the market.
I am stock and not rooted.
Thank You.

CheckInService Wakelock

Hi guys,
I am having a problem with the Google Play Service CheckInService wakelock. It is draining my phone's battery quickly while the screen is off. I disabled location and Google Location Reporting but it did not help. Someone suggested an app called Wakelock Terminator but it is not available anymore. I tried disabling the wakelock for all of Google Play Services but it caused the app to constantly crash.
Any help would be appreciated.

What I would do is back up and uninstall all the user installed apps that ask for location access to see if the wakelock disappears, then restore them one after the other. It might be a third party app trying to use the check-in services even though you blocked it?

The only apps I saw trying to use location are google and google play services. I had turned off location but it still happened whether or not location was on

Could it be an app that tries to use location, even though it's blocked? Tries over and over again?
You got tibu or something similar? Backup and uninstall everything and see if it helps (since you, understandably, seem desperate).
