[Q] Amazon App Store and Restoring Apps - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a Qn, I am currently running MIUI on my EVO, and have downloaded a few apps through the Amazon App Store. If I wipe and flash another ROM on my EVO, do I lose all of those apps that were d/l or is it tied to my amazon.com account, and so I can restore them ?

I haven't done it, but they should be tied to your Amazon account. Also, if you use Titanium, it shouldn't have any problem restoring the apps, though I don't know if there will be any issues restoring the link between the app and the amazon market.

I've flashed back and forth between CM7 and a few other ROMs and wanted to keep my Angry Birds Rio save file. I just backed up both the Amazon App Store and Angry Birds Rio in Titanium Backup and restored them (app+data) when I got into my new ROM, and everything was fine. Haven't tried it with any paid apps but I imagine the same will be true.

It's tied to your account.

if you flash another rom, just download the amazon appstore and they should be waiting in there to re-download. if you back up the app and try to reinstall it without the amazon appstore app, it's a no go.

Thanks !!
Hello,
Thank you all for the replies, much appreciated.

[Q] Amazon Apps and Titanium Back Up

Asking if anyone else has run into this issue.
I back up the Amazon App store and the apps that came with it. I then proceed to wipe, flash new rom. Using Titanium back up I restore all the apps in addition to the Amazon App Store. I launch the app store and it asks me to log in. Afterwards I see a list of all the apps I downloaded and have installed. I try to launch any of them and it basically tells me I don't own the app.
Anyone have any ideas about this?
I just install the appstore w/o restoring data. Login and register the device and then restore my apps.
I'm re flashing the phone and I will try what you said.
That's a no go. I also noticed on the Amazon.com website all the applications I paid for and obtained are not listed on there. I sent them an email so hopefully they can figure it out.
Dumb question, but you are using the correct amazon.com account right?

[Q] Alien Droid + amazon app store issue

I had a issue w/ Kindle Fire running Alien Droid, so I did a system restore. Then did recovery and installed the Alien Droid Rom 2.0. My only problem is getting the amazon app store to work on the Fire again. As I recall, when I first rooted the Fire.....I had to side load the google store or something. The play store is working fine. I just can't get the Amazon App store to come back. I have downloaded the apk file...when I go to install...it shows installing...then gives an error....and doesn't install. It has the TWRP installed on it as well. Any suggestions? (I searched the forums to see if anyone else had this....I didn't find anything). Not sure if my son downloaded something that messed it up or what....
As for Google play its packaged in with Alien Droid rom. As for amazon app store, have you tried downloading the apk directly from amazon? This way you will get the latest version. I've been using Alien Droid rom for a good while now and have never had any problems with the amazon app store so I know it works well. Good luck.

Well, I went back into TWRP and wiped the sd card.... and re-installed the ROM....and the amazon app store was able to be downloaded and now works. However.....I hadn't backed up my stock rom. Any way to get the stock Amazon Rom back? Just in case I wanted to switch to that via the twrp recovery program? (I was able to do this prior to wiping the sd card.) If not, no big deal..just thought if this ever happened again.
Think my son had downloaded a corrupt file or something. I did get the -24 at one time...but then it went away....not sure what that was.

[Q] Putting Amazon Kindle Fire Apps onto JellyBean?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I had a hard time searching for an answer.
There aren't too many people out there looking to put apps designed for Kindle's UI on Jelly Bean.
I'll keep it brief:
- Rooted my GF's Kindle Fire
- Plan on flashing JB rom
- Want to port paid Amazon Kindle fire apps onto JB
For example: She purchased the game of Life app for her Kindle through Amazon's app store. If JB is flashed, will I be able to download that same app directly from Amazon's website onto her JB flashed Kindle? I don't know what compatibility issues I could run into, nor the easiest way to do it if at all possible.
Can I make an .apk and side load them onto JB? Amazon's Fire UI is built off Android 2.3 (GB), correct? Her Kindle is running 6.3.1.
Figured I'd ask before flashing the JB Rom... I backed up everything on her Fire, I just didn't want to go through the hassle of re-doing something if I didn't have to
Anyway, you guys are brilliant here - thanks for any help I might receive.

It is hard to say for 100% about that specific app (Game of life). You can install the Amazon App store on Jelly Bean and you can install all the apps you have purchased onto any flavor of Android. It is already known that the Amazon Prime Video app will only run in a non rooted ROM based on the original install. If the app is one that is labeled as a "Kindle Table Addition" it may not run if your JB rom has been changed to represent as a Nexus or other tablet to gain more Google Play store exposure.

This is what I was afraid of. I don't want to repurchase that app $5... Are there any apps available through Amazon's App Store that will allow me to create an .apk of that app so I can try and see if it works sideloading it onto JB?

You could use Titanium backup to backup the app and restore it onto JB. If you already Rooted the KF you should have no problem loading TiBu.

Another option you could try would be to dual boot between a JB rom and MoDoCo. MoDoCo has a alternative install version and you could dual boot between JB and MoDoCo (A rooted and tweeked version of the original KF install). I did this for a long time so that I could still use the Amazon Video player. I got tired of playing with JB and went back to a single install of MoDoCo with a new launcher. Once you get past the Amazon launcher and you have played with JB long enough to be content the Fire works pretty decently.
You wouldnt have to if you sign into the same amazon acount. i have some apps like quickoffice pro ($15)on my stock kf, then i rooted it flashed jellybean, then installed amazon appstore signed into my account, and quickoffice pro was there in my downloaded apps
right, but in this case I believe the question is about kindle fire specific apps. The ones in the Amazon App Store that are labeled "Kindle Fire Edition"

Wow, why didn't I think of trying that... I should have.
I got impatient and installed JB. KF edition apps are not compatible.
I made backups of all the data that was on prior with TWRP... Is there a way to make a .apk with any of that data without re-installing KF?

I'll try dual booting with MoDoCo - how easy should it be to restore data with TWRP? I'm so used to CWMR that everything feels foreign.
So now i guess I plan on installing MoDoCo, restore the data from KF, side load TiBu, make backups of KF edition apps, boot into JB and restore KF apps there - is that sound logic, guys?
That process should work to get the apps installed on jb but there is still no guarantee that they will work. Try it and let us know how it turns out

Sure enough if you just back up your app before you upgrade, then you can install them on JB. I just did it for three different kindle only apps. The odd thing is when I tried to install them through the app store, I was blocked. Now why would amazon deny a piece of revenue?

ok. I am kind of in the same boat as you. I changed to jellybean using Twa_Priv's CM10 MOD back in August, and for a while I was able to use KF-specific apps. I switched a lot between jellybean and stock, because there were some things that I liked about the Stock firmware. Anyway, I quit that, restored to factory, and installed the latest build at the time of Twa_Priv's ROM. I did not cloak it to resemble the Google Nexus or anything else, yet now I have a different amazon appstore, and it won't let me get KF apps. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of going back and using Titanium Backup to save any KF apps.
what do I do?

Google Play Store

Recently tried to flash a blacked out version of Google Play Store, used TWRP, after reboot, i opened up the play store and it closed on me. I deleted the blacked out version, install play store again and still closes on me. I googled the "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped" error, tried all the suggestions but to no avail, cleared data, cache, rebooted into recovery, cleared cache. The store will open up, but as soon as i hit update on any of my apps, it closes. Did i trigger something in my phone when i tried to flash the backout version of the play store? I even installed from a backup in Titanium and it also closes after i try to update any apps. I do have a nandroid backup but dont want to resort to that just yet. Thanking you in advance for any help in this matter. HTC M8 rooted

Now is the time to use the nandroid backup.. or titanium backup user apps and reflash. This is the reason you make nandroid backups so you don't have to waste hours trying to fix silly issues like this. I make one every day and save it to the PC So I can always restore without worrying about losing a new app or setting.

Restored nan backup and updating all my apps from the play store, thanks for your response, I still wish I knew what could have caused this problem. This backup is four days old so I have lots to update and install. Again, many thanks

Amazon Prime Video.

Hi, guys, the problem is the Amazon prime video app pre-installed in the phone, I've tried to install the new version of the app from Google play store but the app does not install, because there is a conflict between the two version of the app. So I've decided to uninstall the original app on the phone, I went on titanium backup and I've uninstalled the app. After I've reinstalled the new version of the app from the play store, but the app crash. There 's any other way to let it work?
P.s. I have the latest version of the stock rom with root.
