Does a hard (factory) reset restore DI18 if I am currently on stock EB13?
Not sure what you mean by a hard reset but....
you can follow the steps in this thread to get back to complete stock DI18..

No it doesn't. A hard reset just wish your data.

That topic may help.
Go to Settings - Security - Factory data reset
It saids that it erases all data on the phone. And if you have rooted your phone you should probably unroot it first.
Do I need to unroot first before go to factory data reset?

actually it does not matter what you do first.
But i would suggest to unroot first, because after factory reset the initial setup will start and you will be prompted to provide all different kind of stuff.
If you unroot first and factory reset its in first sale status and the new user will get the initial setup when he turns on the phone for the first time.
You don't have to unroot if you don't want to. Factory reset just clears the /data partition, to root you have made changes to the /system partition. So if you want to unroot to you have to do it separately (there are some tutorials in this forum)
Hey guys....it`s been awhile.
i`m trying to reset my Dash to factory settings to sell.I`ve tried both ways. hold soft keys, press power button for 1-2 seconds,i get the white letterings saying personal data will be lost, and will reset to manufacturer default.press send to restore manufacturer default.it goes thru its thing....(preparing your device, please wait.....) it goes thru cold boot config. when it restarts, it`s back to 3vo series rom.i`ve done the start/accessories/clear storage/1234/yes.
still same thing........weird....does the sim card need to be in phone to hard reset?
the hard reset does not remove the installed rom just the data to but it back to the default rom you must reflash said rom. the standard roms are in the wiki i think but sont qupte me. failing that they should be around on the forum somewhere so search and you'll find them. hope this helps
Stock ROMs in F.A.Q as paradox1985 states a hard-reset will only take you back to the base of flashed ROM not all the way back to stock.
Excellent .....thanks for your help.
There's a defect on my Slide's slider (harhar) so I'm getting it exchanged, I had rooted it but hadn't installed Eng-Build or anything, I factory reset and I'm wondering if they'll be able to tell that I rooted? If so what else do I need to do to prevent them from knowing?
Put the ESPRIMG.img in root of your card, boot recovery, and run that as well...
Someone also posted a nandroid backup from stock unrooted phone, that will put your device back to original stock, undetectable that it was previously rooted.

Doesn't ESPRIMG.img put me on the Engineering Build? I never flashed a new ROM, just put superuser.apk over there and it's gone after I factory reset it from within Settings -> Privacy.
wipe your data and wipe your caches, phone may reboot as if its out of the box.
....alright, I'll start off by apologizing for not searching on this subject as I am at work and don't quite have the time as I'm hoping to do this before the holiday.
I currently have a rooted phone (unrevoked3?? "one button root") and the "unofficial" 2.2 firmware. I would like to reset my phone back to factory settings and start fresh. I don't believe that if I "restore to factory default" will work so I'm looking for suggestions.
Are you trying to go back to Pre-ROOT or Root with Stock 2.2? Also did you do a NANDROID backup right after you rooted. You can always go back to that, it'll pretty much be stock.
If you do factory settings, it should work. But don't apply the most recent OTA if you want root directly, there is a fix for it but probably won't be here until the weekend or more.
I tried the system restore and its still Android ota 2.2 with baseband 2.05.
I was hoping to get it back to prior OTA 2.2 and go with OFW. I'm not really caring if it's rooted or not when "restored" as I'd like to just put the latest unrevoked on anyways.
So, if what you said that restore to factory would work, I imagine its the option through the bootloader as I don't think it would work through phone settings.
just did factory reset through clockwork recovery and i'm still 2.2/2.05

okay so I have a samsung galaxy s3, I updated to Android 4.3 through AT&T and my phone has been giving me problems ever since. could someone please tell me what options do I have to fix this thing? Right now I have downloads that keep coming in that have been completed months ago and my LED flash also comes on when my phone rings. I havent done any flashing or rooting since about 2 years ago with my AT&T Tilt 2. I just felt like this phone didnt need it. I've read some other articles that say if you try to root an AT&T SGS3 that it will brick after this cripling update to android 4.3. But it's just fine to do it wit other carrier smartphones. It doesnt seem like there are any fixes on the horizon, so I feel like i need to take matters into my own hands. Please help.
I'm assuming you already tried a factory reset? But as far as rooting though I don't think it's possible currently if you did the ota update. Whatever you do don't try to Odin back though, you'll hard brick.

I'm not sure if i've tried a factory reset. The only reset i've done is the option they give you when you hold the button on the upper right hand side of the phone. Where is the factory resetet option? Also, should I backup my information before I do this factory reset.

boot into recovery to clear the cache first and then try a factory reset if that does not work.
I have read of this continual download bug, but do not have it myself
If you can connect to KIES, you can back stuff up easily , but I'd just backup contacts and stuff and reinstall the apps. Yes, a factory reset will wipe your apps and contacts, but it should leave your pics in the card and in the phone alone.. back em up just in case.
