Hello,
since some weeks I began to recognize, that sometimes my wp7 device (mozart) started to be crazy - strictly speaking the display stutterd. Since now I could not reconstruct it. But today I could do that (I also tested it on my brothers htc mozart, and it behaved identical!)...
don't know if you can see the video in this thread (tried to integrate it here). If you can't see it, click here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4LEU3XW-ung
Explanation:
initial siutation: device is plugged to the battery cable, I use/handle the device through its touchscreen without touching the case -> Display does not stay "calm", when I stop moving my finger; it's stuttering.
1. variation: device is plugged to the battery cable, I use/handle the device through its touchscreen and I am touching the case -> Display stays "calm", when I stop moving my finger; it's not stuttering.
2. variation: device is not plugged to the battery cable, I use/handle the device through its touchscreen without touching the case/while touching the case (it does not matter) -> Display stays "calm", when I stop moving my finger; it's not stuttering.
Sooo... is this bug, a WP7 specific bug or is it connected with the construcion/design of the HTC mozart??
What do you think and can you confirm this behaviour??

I believe this was stated to be an issue with the Surround and the Mozart only as they use some new form of touchscreen technology.

thanks, do you have a source? Shouldn't new technologies have less issues?
That's would I'd think but I don't put much faith into HTC anymore... as for the source I read it in the surround forums at some point but I have no idea where it would be honestly...

I've read a number of posts that deal with problems syncing, but none that matches exactly the problem I'm having.
When initially connected via USB, everything goes according to plan: the icons on the device and in Windows both show the connection, the sounds alert me to the handshake having been successful, and the device and PC sync. This state lasts a varying amount of time, usually about a half an hour or so. Then, without the device being touched, the ActiveSync icon on the PC goes grey, and the "connection dropped" sound on the PC is played. Nonetheless, power is still being transferred, and the charging light (orange then green) is still lit. If I disconnect and reconnect, the same pattern occurs every sing time. I've tried with a number of USB cables, always with the same behaviour.
Note that the device is out of warranty by now, so the lest desirable response is "send it back to HTC for repair".
[ edit ] Forgot to mention: Yes, I gently cleaned out all the pocket fluff that had connected in the mini USB connector on the device, but have not attempted a more prodigious cleaning.

Really? No one else has experienced this problem?

I know you may not want to here this, but that sounds an awful lot like a symptom of a faulty USB port on the device. One way to test it is to flash the latest stock ROM for your carrier/device model and see if it works with that. If it doesn't, then you'll need to learn to solder to replace the USB port. If it does work, then you've got some troubleshooting to do on your current ROM to figure out what is causing the connection to drop.
Also, in the rare case that you are already on a stock ROM, you'll need to reflash it and test it from scratch without anything installed.

Yes, Bob, I am on the stock ROM and yes, you are right, I don't want to hear anything about flashing -- even less about soldering. I, too, suspected that it might me a hardware issue with the USB port. I guess it's time to start shopping for a new device! [ sigh ]
I have had 2 tp2's, and my wife has also had one, and every single one of them has had the same issue. It will be plugged in, working fine, synced fine, and one small tap of the wire, computer, or phone will end the sync. It could just be that the mini port is ****. With that said, don't move your phone when it is synced...
my mini port has problem syncing. it's fine for TV output and headphones. but has same problem as you describe - so now I always use BT to sync/copy files instead of USB.
Ah well, have been looking around for the next great device. There's word that AT&T will get the HTC Sensation, but nothing confirmed.
Just wondering here if you tried sync with another system - same device.
At work I never had issues, but on the road with my Acer laptop I began having the same symptoms you describe, the usb ports on this (fully updated system) just won't enable proper sync (miss my Dell). Well I'm sure you thought of this but just a thought.
If hardware fault, try to change a new cable first. Usually the cable will tear out faster than the port on board.
I just got a Lumia 900 white and i have noticed the following issues.
The Lumia restarts on its own. It has restarted twice since i got it.
Weird purple screen in low light condition
Rattling sound when phone vibrates. Not like the usual vibrate
Would not connect to a specific router whereas all my other devices can. It can still connect to other routers though
I am running OS version: 7.10.8773.98 and firmware revision number: 2715.1601.8773.12141 which i assume is the latest (tango).
Should i be facing all these issues? I googled around a bit and i found that these issues were previously addressed with updates.
To note, it's an unlocked phone. I can use it with any carriers i want to.
Is there anyway i can re-install tango? I am assuming it's a software issue.
Help please?
Mine never restarted on its own.
I still have the purple screen problem pending a firmware update.
The vibration sound in this phone is like that. All models sound like this.
Never had trouble connecting to any wifi access point/router.
I am having rebooting issues. I think I've narrowed it down to low signal issues. My office is in the basement floor behind the elevators so I'm constantly in and out of signal. I fluctuate between 1-2 bars of 4G or LTE and no signal at all. If I have no signal, it will not reconnect unless I switch it to airplane mode and back. On a few occasions, it has rebooted on me only when I'm at my office. I have contacted Nokia customer support and they wanted me to send it in under warranty. I told them that was useless and that my replacement would have the same issue and told them to try to reproduce the issue with their QA/Dev teams. No response yet.
Mine has shut down twice now for no apparent reason, Always after using Nokia Drive, It was a real pain to start the phone back up too, Had to hold power button for a while, I did think it may be down to signal drops as when travelling the phone has to switch a fair bit I imagine, The phone did get a bit hot so maybe overheating as on both occasions the weather was very warm especially in the car.
no reboot, no purple screen, no ratteling sounds...
but WP7 have some issues with connecting to AP or routers set above chenel 10 (if you are not using automatic). my home router and AP were set at 11 and 12 and my HD 7 could never get connected... and when i changed to lower then 10 it was fine... so now my AP and routers are always set this way.
I have had my phone shut itself down three times now for no obvious reason. That's a bit of a worrying issue if you're on call for work and need people to be able to contact you at any time.
The phone restarting by itself is definitely a weird issue. I never had that happen to me before.
The only weird thing I encountered was the touch screen stopped responding. So I locked the phone and then unlocked it and it worked.
The issues you guys are bringing up here should definitely be covered by Nokia.
Only issue I have is the lumia not syncing contacts to my car's hu...
Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express
Yes...
I have had my Lumia 900 for one week, and also had a few a few problems:
1. Two restarts (phone is on, but asks for pin and lock code). Both of which are in a location with very poor/no reception. Both where during the morning (4am and 6am) (can see boot time using a program).
2. Complete discharge, wont initiate charge from computer (think it might have been because I skipped the "red low battery charge phase" (or what we should call it?). Does however charge from a computer if I let it charge with the red battery for a while, then boot it self and after a while it will start charing (with the charge icon blinking.
3. When using the radio in loudspeaker mode, and the screen is locked, after a while (5-10 seconds maybe), it (sometimes) stops, or (sometimes) starts to lag, as if the reception is poor (although the phone hasn't been moved.) pressing the power button, (at slide to unlock) the lag instantly stops. Anyone else wanna test this one? (try a bunch of times, doesn't always happened on mine.)
4. (Pure hardware problem): Rubber gasket between case and USB has been incorrectly paced, and "flaps" in the USB contact. (clearly visible if looking directly into the USB port).
Should I take it back and say I want a new one?
OS Version: 7.10.8773.98
Firmware revision number: 2175.1601.8773.12141
You guys need to exchange for a new phone. My first Lumia 900 had restart issues while idling. The new one doesn't have any reboot problem. My G2X before had reboot problem and screen bleed. I went and exchanged for a new G2X, and problem solved. I will send my Lumia 900 to Nokia for repair as I have another hardware issue. The capacitive buttons aren't very responsive when playing audio through speaker phone.
Hello,
sadly my Gnex isn´t working anymore. I´m going to sent it to repair but there is one big problem - i don´t want to loose all my vacation photos (i´m recently back from a two week trip to thailand).
This is what happened during my trip:
1. Charger problem
- the charging indicator was shown permanently. Even when the phone was switched off it showed the white charging-screen
-> i got that fixed by cleaning the usb-connector of the phone (there was some slightly humid fuss inside)
2. The real problem
- some days ago i plugged my phone to my charger and went to sleep, but at the next morning my phone doesnt react anymore
-> nothing is shown on the phones screen
-> when i connect my phone to a pc without battery nothing happens
-> when i connect my phone to a pc with battery the pc makes a "connection-error-sound", shows "OMAP4440" as a device for 2 seconds and then a "disconnect-sound" followed by the device disappearing
3. The question
- is there any way to get my phone back alife or at least recover my data in some way?
- may this behavior be caused by high humidity (compared to germany)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I can only assume your phone is having a hardware malfunction.
But if it is software; this should get you running.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760787
You can then potentially use adb to pull /data/media/DCIM/ to get your camera pictures.
I followed the guide in the post and the procedure seems to work but a still can´t use the phone, the result is the same as before.
Two notes:
- i can only follow the guide with my battery inserted because otherwise the pc is not detecting my phone
- the included bat-file seems to be an infinite loop, isn´t it?
Any suggestions?
I got my N7 2013 model less than a month ago and I've run into my first issue so far. I'm not sure if its a major problem or not. Here is what occurred. When my tablet was -plugged- in and fully charged this morning I was using it to check my email. I couldn't help but notice a subtle amount of static coming out of the tablet every time I pressed something on screen (for example opening an email or deleting something). I had not noticed this before because it is fairly subtle and my room was very quiet the first time in a while. It however stopped as soon as I unplugged it. The problem resumes when o plug it back in. Each press on the screen leads to a static buzzing from the tablet like radio interference.
I'd like to see of anyone can recreate this. Here is what I exactly did:
1) The tablet was fully charged and still plugged in.
2) Be in a very very quiet room. No fan noise.
3) Use the GMail app and open some emails. Anything that makes key press noise should do.
4) Listen closely after each key press.
5) Redo all this without it charging.
The only reason I worry is that I don't want this to be a faulty circuit board issue or battery issue.

Hi guys
I got an HTC M8s less than 2 months now and it has so many issues it's driving me insane at this stage....
It's on stock ROM unrooted with all the latest updates.
First issue that came up was not recognising the headphones after i plugged them in, that eventually went away after lots of searching and fiddling with settings etc.
Then it started going into Car mode while it was resting on the table, no input on my end no triggers set for it, hell i don't even own a car to use this function....
I disabled HTC car and that stopped.
The included micro usb cable somehow went bad, tried it on other devices, it will not charge....
Now i'm having some weird charging behaviour, it drops out of charging and resumes or sometimes it just stops charging (that doesn't happen when the phone is charging while being switched off, so i'm guessing it's not a hardware issue)
Another massive problem is that all incoming/outgoing calls go to the speaker which almost burst my ear drum first time that happened.
I have looked in every single forum out there and have tried all possible solutions, ranging from disabling google Chrome to trying every available speaker management/toggle related program on the play store but nothing seems to be working.
Some times if i plug in the headphones, make a call and then unplug them, then it works as it should for a little while. But later on it reverts to the previous mentioned behaviour.
One thing i have noticed, before it routes calls to the speaker, the screen will light up, no notifications come up and then all calls go to the speaker.
I used Wakelock to try and find out which program triggers the screen wake in order to remove it and maybe solve this issue but nothing came up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as i am at the end of my rope with this device....
I still have my HTC DHD A9191 and i never had any issues with that phone, i'm very dissappointed with HTC :/
Thanks in advance
Yanni
Less then 2 months......return it ! Not even sure what you want to achieve here besides messing up warranty ?
I am using Spign slim armor case on m8s and after using it my power button isn't working.
and I have a Motion Launch problem when phone is on my pocket it opens camera, calls someone because of the sensor.Any fix about that?

ok man
look i have htc one m8 + one m7+one max
the one m7 had the same problem of u
i will give to you one solution for try
i try it on the one m7 and its work
but on one max not work
on m8 not test yet
try this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging.
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal
if it not charge at the first time then try it again andd u will be OK
Hi Hazem
Thanks for the input, i'll give this a go when i get back home and let you know if it works out.
Should i try this when the phone is at 4-5% ? And then let it charge all the way ?
I'm experiencing these same issues as well after rooting my M8. Hopefully someone here knows what the issue is.
Well for me all issues remain unresolved.
My guess so far for the culprit seems to be the magnetic sensor, either badly programmed or a factory defect.

u must charge ur phone
turn off the phone
let him charge to full about 3 hours
and try the method
it will work
i test it on 2 one m7 phones
let me know if that work
thx
Sorry Hazeem I understand that English isn't your first language, and you are trying to help but you are not making much sence....
You are basically telling me to charge my phone, then switch it off and charge it again even though it's already charged for another 3 hours....
Ok an update !
HTC Released a service pack along with an update for the car application, after installing these and a couple of reboots the charging problems stopped and the phone doesn't seem to be waking up without any reason, as it did before.
The calls getting routed to the speaker still remain but thanks to an app called Auto Speaker, I've managed to work around this issue. Before the updates this application had no effect, but now it works as it should by turning off the speaker when the proximity sensor is blocked.
I hope I am not celebrating too soon on this and I'll keep this post updated if anything else, related to these issues, happens.
Update 2
So far so good and with another unexpected benefit, I removed my phone from the charger Saturday morning around 11 and as of now Monday 7:30 it's at 27% !
