Hello guys , i wanted to make a boot animation for your phones...I dont have a galaxy s phone yet..Getting S2 soon for now just enjoy the animation
Let me know if its too fast or too slow
Here is the file:-LINK
Its 9MB and worth the size
Just place the zip in
/system/media
and reboot.
480x800 is the resolution

thats the resolution of the screen, not the boot time
the boot time is depending on your animation, larger animations make the boot time longer.. and its also depending on your own configured fps rate..
Finally Mw3 Boot Animation is uploaded
Check it out
Dude you just got me all wet.... i kid i kid but really thanks I'm downloading NOW!

I might be doin´it wrong or putting the .zip in the wrong place coz I get the standard boot screen...
works fine here and looks cool as well good work im running continuum 5.5 if it matters o yea and if you are running a 2.3 rom then you have to change the .zip to sanim.zip

Thank you so much for this.. i was so excited when i saw the title.. so downloaded it to check out the images. Looks so amazing
until i saw that you put your name down below.
Now i dont mind at all to support people but when loading up the phone i want no advertising just want to see my amazing screen with this amazing animation you created.
So would it be ok if i removed your name?
Great animation, but the name below sucks...

From these two forums it seems that we can add a .ogg sound file to accompany the boot animation. Is it possible and has anyone done and can confirm it?
Scroll down to post 10 to try my bootanimation.
It's my very first creation LOL
I'm not too sure about how it works
but the resolution of the phone is 480 by 800
you could also use 30 for fps which is the next part

Thanks. But my bootanimation still doesn't work.
In my zip I have a part0 folder and a desc.txt.
For the desc.txt:
480 800 30
p 0 0 part0
For my Part0 folder I have 30 PNGs, named 00000 to 00030.
What am I doing wrong? When it comes to display the animation, its a blank screen!
at the end of your file, make sure you have return....meaning
480 800 30
p 0 0 part0(press return than save the file)
What file editor are you using?
If you want you can upload your zip and I'll see if I can get it working, and let you know what I find.
http://www.mediafire.com/?l1ox8umu7n90nf6
I am using notepad to edit desc.txt
there is the download link.
I would much appreciate it if you did help.
the pics are noobly done because I don't want to invest that much time into making good pics if the bootanimation doesnt even work.
Im not sure if its a problem with notepad, as I've had problems too. Ive just been using wordpad recently.
Also, when you create your zip file, make sure not to use any compression. It should "Store" option of any.
Might need a separate zip program. Not sure if the built in windows one will work, as it uses compression?
Here you go, tho.
::edit::
I just realized that it has a quick white flash. Does it do this on your phone too? Might have to add a few more frames....I'll see if I can fix.
oh and I would worry about the pics. Its all about personalization! If you like it, so be it. I dont create my own pics, im too lame for that. I just convert videos to images and use those lol. I made this Bleach one, which was horrible, but I still keep it around
Ooooo!
It might be beause I used compression when making a zip via WINRAR.
EDIT: The problem was indeed I compressed it!
IT WORKS! THANKYOU!
Bonus problem: after each animation it flashes white before looping. How do I remove that? I am going to guess that I have to edit the p 0 0 part0 into something like p 0 10 part0?
Also happened when I used the honeycomb Xoom bootanimation port. It flashed bright white whenever it looped.
EDIT 2: Remove the thumbnail.whatever and your good to go!
Was about to say that lol. Good work tho.
I know you probably intend to create an animation, with thoes files, but with the current setup, you could have just left it with one png and set the fps to 1 ...since there is no animation.
Cant wait to see what you crank out...feel free to share.
Goodluck.

Probz gonna be NSFW ones =D
EDIT: Here! (NSFW-ish)
It is possible to add sound, however from my research, this doesnt work with gingerbread....yet. Only froyo etc....
I just flashed modaco's stock rom and sound works for bootanimations.
I tried a bunch of different files but was unable to get it working with cm7/gingerbread.
Let me know if your are interested in getting this setup, but keep in mind, no gingerbread unless I missed it in my search somewhere.
I am failing at making a bootanimation.zip and I am not sure why. Anyone experienced want to take a look at my file and give me a hint as to why this doesn't work? It gets rid of the default Android, but just displays a black screen until the homescreen shows up.
Did I stump everybody? I figured I was just missing something silly like the picture files need to be in 7.5 bit format or something.

Id like to know/learn how to make a bootanimation is there a section/tutorial on this somewhere??
I see there's a section on theme-ing. Am i mising something?
Sorry not trying to thread jack, just thought the OP can shed some light.
Good luck on your question!
Haven't tried it yet myself, but I've noticed these tutorial threads in the past:

You must save the zip as an uncompressed zip file. Compression level should be set to storage mode.

I hadn't seen that first thread (or the tool in it). Neat. Thank you. Wish I had seen that before I started.
It still didn't work, but at least that lets me know that it really is an odd problem.

That I am doing. Though I have noticed that sometimes "store" in WinRar compresses by just a few bytes. I made one that was completely not compressed (byte match for stored size versus on drive size). Still not working, so I've ruled that out as being the issue.
I'm attaching a version created by the tool in the link above. It still doesn't work. I have no clue why... still looking for hints.

That looks like it'd be a cool animation. I'll mess with it later when I get home. But at first glance comparing it to other animations I have that work, they are either greyscale or RGB jpgs @ 72dpi. Yours are indexed pngs @ 300dpi. That link says png should be ok, but it says to use RGB. Maybe you could try that next.
Here you go. I converted the images to 72dpi RGB jpgs. I'll still probably try again leaving them as 72dpi RGB pngs, but these animations work now.
I included your original 30fps version, but also slowed it down a bit. I think the 12fps looks good, but unless you have just wiped your dalvik cache, you might not have enough time to see very many blinks. The 21fps version isn't bad, but I think it's still a bit too fast. Tweak the speed to your preference.
These are not flashable, btw, so just copy over with root explorer or whatever.
Has to be renamed sanim.zip to work in GB.

True, I guess I assumed he was using a kernel with the symlink to bootanimation.zip since his phone was actually trying to use the original file. Thanks for the reminder to anyone else trying to get this to work.

I've tried this myself many times to no evail. I get boot animations from a rom that i like and try to put the boot ani in a diff rom and it never works. i'm never able to get the files into the other zip. I can't wait till i figure out how to completely customize roms to exactly what i want! i'm learning a little more day by day. this thread has helped me a little and will now be my reference if i run into this problem once i finally make my own boot ani. Thanks guys!

I am thinking the editor I was using for the images was doing something funky. Anyway, much appreciated, the 21 fps one works beautifully.

GIMP is typically the only image program I use, hasn't failed me yet.
I have a clip I'd like to use, but not sure how to turn it into a boot animation. I've tried searching here and google with no luck. I'm not very good at this kinda stuff, so learning as I go. Any help would be appreciated. Clip is attached
The file that u provided does not open. U must make a part0 and part1 folders in that zip file with clips of the video or image. Then compress and rename to bootanimation.zip... then in a file manager (Astro, Root Browser Lite, etc.) Copy the file and navigate to system/media/here. make sure to make a backup of the other bootanimation, then paste. If it comes out as bootanimation-1.zip or bootanimation-copy.zip then change to bootanimation.zip. reboot then enjoy
treat ur girl like how u treat ur epic

All boot animations I've seen/used are a series of pictures (jpgs or pngs) that when android boots, turns into a flip book.
I attached 2 different ones for you to look at.
I'm not sure it would be possible to make that video into a boot animation... you would need to have that video converted into a series of pictures and I'm really not sure you would be able to get the sound to match up to the video...
Also, I'm not sure how many fps (frames per second) Android uses to do the boot animation, but the ones I attached have 140 - 280 frames which is only a few seconds of video animation.
Hope that helps...
I believe frames per second depends on the phone you're using. Because I use the same boot animation as my sister on her evo shift. Her's moves really fast while mine is pretty slow.

would be great to get a mod/app like this for the HTC One, there is one for the One X which really worked brilliantly (IQ was at least 20% up on stock). hopefully one of the brilliant developers will pick this idea up and take it further, thanks

There are some camera mods around, i think one of them improves the quality of the photos.. Did not try so can not tell you which one...

there is nothing for the HTC One though, due to its ultra pixel technology it'll need a mod developed specifically for it
here's one from the HTC One X maybe this could be used as a basis for a similar mod for the One, (no compression and no/little noise reduction) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339226

That's not really any help though, Personally I'm not going to install that ROM just to get the Mod ... Is it just the Camera.apk that's modded do you know or are there other files in the ROM that are needed, like libs etc.
Hi,
You will need the media_profiles file also because the two "ImageEncoding quality" lines and the two "ImageDecoding memCap" lines are modified...
In attachment the file from Insertcoin rom, remove the .txt extension...
Thanks to baadnewz for the mod (I hope we can post the files outside its rom,, if not I delete it and all my apologies), credits to him, source is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2279766...
thanks Viking, I have no idea what to do with the file you sent, can you explain (I'm no techie at all), so one cannot just add in the 4.2.2 Camera apk to sys/app, (I assume you cannot replace the stock camera.apk with this 4.2.2 one?) So one has to also revise some of the media profiles settings (any idea how to do this)? thanks.
The ideal would be that someday someone could develop a flashable file that just adds the compression settings to the stock camera apk.

Edit: Made a custom flashable zip with the xml and the camera apk and installed fine, will test and see if it's any better
ok so I replace the camera apk in Ordroid with the Camera apk from insert coin, add the gallery apk from insert coin mods folder and then replace the media profile xml in ordroid with the one you provided?? will that do the trick? thanks again for the help

Hi,
Meanwhile the zip from AllAboutTheCore() remove the .txt extention from the file I've posted, put in in your "sdcard" then with a file explorer copy it to system/etc and set the correct permissions like this, then reboot and you're good...
Before all make a Nandroid backup!!!
EDIT: same thing for the Camera.apk file, but copy it to system/app set the correct permissions (same as above) then reboot in recovery and wipe dalvik-cache...
if it makes a difference please share the zip, I'm a bit lost with this technical stuff, but love photography hence my request, a stupid question: cant one just edit the media profiles xml of the standard camera apk and adjust all 3 to 100% (image encoding, instead of 70/80/95%), wont that make the photos have less compression?? thanks
EDIT: I tried the above, didnt change any apks or anything, just went to the media profile xml and changed image encoding to 100% for all 3 options (instead of 70/80/95%) kept decoding at 30000... and image size went from 600KB to 1.3 MB (same image), will have to check but with much less compression IQ (detail) should be better I guess
Here it is .. If Baadnewz wants it taking down I will .. I further edited the xml to change both 720p and 1080p recordings to 2 channels instead of 1.
Credited Baad in the zip aswell
http://www1.zippyshare.com/v/72631252/file.html
thanks will try (have you noticed any difference?), if you read my post just before your last one, does what I have done make sense (just kept the original camera apk and change the media profiles xml file?) would that also make the compression less?

Not noticed a difference yet tbh but I'm sat in my bedroom so nothing really to test it on lol .. Yep I understood what you meant, not sure how it works though as if it was a case of changing them all to 100% for the best results, I would have thought that's what Baadnewz would have done but I'm not completely sure

hehe, not sure either but fun to play around, I can say that the file sizes are roughly 40 to 50% bigger now, which means compression is less which should improve IQ (in theory)...
