How do you think the earthquake in japan will affect the evo 3d? Will it delay the release? Will it increase the price?

That's a good question, I was wondering the same. HTC is a Korean company correct? Not that it matters all that much because parts are sourced from all over but I would think a majority of the parts are bought from Korean companies. Although I could be completely wrong and it really only takes the delay of one component to delay the whole device.
Wrong, HTC is a Taiwanese company. Anyways, who cares about something so insignificant compared to the ongoing tragedy in Japan?

Agreed. The delay of a phone certainly is rather meaningless when you consider the reason behind the possible delay.
Who cares...

HTC is Taiwanese, so there should be no delay and honestly this post sickens me to the point that you're more concerned when a country is in a state of emergency.

Absolutely agree. Just wondering because another post said a sprint employee said the were delaying the phone... I don't think a phone is more important than people's lives.

Chill out people. It's a perfectly reasonable question and really isn't disrespectful in any way at all.

It's not really a legitimate question and there is no legitimate answer. There is no release date so how can it be delayed?
He merely asked if the current state of emergency in Japan, where many components for electronics come from, would result in a delay or price increase of an anticipated device. He did NOT say something along the lines of, "Oh, I hope Japan's situation doesn't delay my precious EVO 3D." That would be highly inappropriate, selfish, and insensitive. But he was just wondering if the current state of events would cause a delay.

I thought their response was fair. HTC does have a built in error reporting function on its phones that you can decline to participate in. In addition, Carrier IQ is on many of their phones at the request of the carrier. So Sprint goes to HTC and says, we want you to install this on the EVO 3D, and they do it. It's up to Sprint to allow for an opt in or opt out feature. Right now, the only way to opt out is to not buy the phone, or void your warranty and root to remove it.

This is true, but the biggest question that is the most important, is why carrier IQ built an app that can track keystrokes, read txt, websites, email, passwords, record audio, and the end point is that you never know it. That is breaking 4 federal laws and just because a company asks to use it, it is still illegal for them to put it on the phones. The info that the carriers need to "fix" there crappy networks is easily collected from tower data not the phone. And the other BIG one is smart phones are still only 50% of the market so all those dumb phones out there never send this data since Carrier IQ is not on those, so why "monitor" just smartphones?????
So not only are the carriers at fault, Carrier IQ is at a bigger fault because they are actually installing it into the roms then giving it back to the carrier, and ALL the info collected goes straight to Carrier IQ first, then to the carriers.
The simple fact is, it is Carrier IQ's app, they install it, and they collect the data.
I wonder how secure CIQ servers are from hackers breaking in and accessing the information that comes from phones, or target certain phones to transmit its logs.

Oh, trust me I know.
But I also know there is a difference between doing something for free and money. Trust me on that one that there is .
Rooted, flashed my fair share of roms on buddies, colleagues phones, and never ever one of them came to me, that something is bugged.
I even had to hear from a third party that they had some issues. They never said I was at fault. Never.
However, repairing a computer and been forced, money put into my pocket with angry looks and going away, no matter how much I said I don't want it. Or getting a chocolate ...
this equals to a next call with "you know, you repaired I know, and its for sure not your fault, but could you come and have a look?"

Buck up your ideas man! XDA is an open community where people of like minded interests try to help better their phones and their lives etc...
Asking if you should charge someone to root their phone for them when the whole process was originally created by someone who released it for free is just dim witted imho.
I can imagine that with an attitude like yours you wont have these 'friends' for much longer.
Give me a tenner and I'll tell you how much to charge.

glad it was only metal which was bent ....I think talking on cell phone and driving should be worth a ticket in Florida ....
You don't have those commercials where you live? The one where it'll have just one word in black text over a white background (for example)
"Hey"
Then it has someone explain how that was the last word their son/daughter/brother/sister etc. ever saw because that was the text message they were reading when they got into a fatal car accident.
I see the commercial almost daily here and don't personally need to be reminded, but the gesture is nice I suppose.
What you have to remember is that you are responsible for moving thousands of pounds of sharp, jagged metal, glass and combustible fuels. Generally speaking, none of these play very well with the human body. If you stop paying attention to what you're doing for even a second, you can effectively turn your car into a wrecking ball or missile.
There are plenty of ways to have your texts read to you via Bluetooth headsets or over your car speakers. This is Android, we can literally do just about anything with these phones.
(Off topic Apple rant spawned from this)
Every time I get in a car with an iPhone user they are always driving and messing with texts or music. Freaking idiots.
Just to clear the air a bit and I should have posted this from the beginning, I wasnt TEXTING or TALKING on the phone. I was merely flipping thru tracks on my music player and got distracted. I'm not saying this makes it any better, rather I am just stating the facts. I have apologized to the people I hit and I am TRULY SORRY not that it matters to anyone here. This can happen to anyone and I just hope that it doesnt. Lesson learned.

It's not the I care about it, it's they are shoving it down my throat when I log into my Verizon account online to manage my stuff, which doesn't have an iPhone associated with it.

You're going to email Verizon that they have marketing on their website? I bet they know.

You realize how much you just got played right? Not only did that little iphone button get you to stay on their website longer; it got you to take a screenshot of it and then go to a Nexus forum and post on there causing even more people to see their website. AND you are going to contact customer service at vzw in which case they will then try to sell you something after reading your pointless email.
Seems like VERY effective marketing strategy to me.

Hmm, someone started a $hit storm in here!
F this. I am shutting down the internet. Someone advertised in yo space. Whoa whoa wait. It's actually their space. Things that make you go hmmmmm... when you realize why all these companies are forcing us into the "cloud".
BTW, Google why can't I have my own cloud INSIDE my own personal digital tracking device that I turn on for countless hours and lease my 4.65" of space to you on occasion anyway?
...
Calm down guys. Xda also has iPhone forums. Its just a phone. If you don't like iphones than don't buy one. And if you want to discuss iphones than post in that section LOL

I have both Android and i devices. Personally I find the whole idea of arguing over a phone pretty retarded... like eating paint chips retarded. I heard an Apple engineer designed a thermostat called the nest, let's argue which thermostat is better, or should it have a larger screen? How about refrigerators? Let's argue about which one makes the best ice.
