Dude, not to be an a$$hole, but you've been asking about this alot, why don't you just take it into a repair center and have them fix it
We're comin from a pure power source.

because I wanna fix it myself all I need is the adhesive

You can use a double sided tape strip from 3M...just cut to the proper size...probably find it at your nearest craft store

You're welcome...I've never personally had to replace my screen, but anytime I've taken things apart (i like to tinker bedside I'm..."that guy") its always appeared to be some sort of ultra thin double sided tape..
Good luck with your endeavor

I can understand wanting to do it yourself, but sometimes its good to let the pros do things. If its not done well, then your takin time and money to do it a second time. Just my opinion. Like I said, I wasn't tryin to be a ****. The screen on our evos is an important thing, ya know

To my knowledge you shouldn't need any adhesive to replace the screen on a EVO.. I have never used any and I work as a tech for sprint.. just saying

Why would you ask that here? Entirely unrelated.
And OP, this is like the ninth thread you've started on this subject in the last few weeks. In that amount of time, you could have had someone else fix it right. I'm not trying to be rude either, but you don't seem to know what you're doing... and that's fine. If I needed my screen replaced, I'd probably just let someone that knows what they're doing fix it, because I'm not familiar with it. You didn't even know what adhesive was when someone mentioned it, and you don't know what parts you bought because you lost the info that came with them. These are just points from your other threads - again, I'm not trying to be rude. You've been given numerous links to walkthroughs and yet you keep asking the same questions after they've been answered. I think it's time to take it to a repair center and let them do the work. I think that would yield the best possible outcome.

Umm... Thats the tool they use at Sprint to rip open the EVO. I use it all the time as well. You might try either a smaller driver or a larger one depending on your issue but for the most part that's the one they use in most repair centers.

Yeah unless your replacing just a specific part on the LCD/TS. The just has a screw on the inside that holds the board to the screen and two ribbons. To close it it has plastic latch like things on the housing. Then of course your screws.

Hi there Nexus owners, I currently own a Nexus S, and I plan on switching to a Galaxy Nexus but I was wondering since the Sa Nexus camera is lacking in the numbers when it comes to megapixels, does anyone know of the possibilities of swapping the camera of an SII (8mp) with that of our phone?
My Nexus S takes good enough pictures at 5mp but I just want to justify the lack of a need for the SIII over the Nexus.
I found the back camera for an SII for sale here.

Because you can't just take apart 2 phones and swap parts frankenstein style. Just because they're both phone cameras doesn't mean they're "plug and play". These things aren't desktop computers, their parts are not interchangeable.
If you think that the camera on the GNex is that bad (it actually isn't), and a phone camera is that important to you, don't buy the GNex.
Thanks for the input, I brought it up only because I know a fairly similar act was successfully pulled off with the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S 4G, with the front camera swap. Maybe someone with better knowledge of the internals can give some insight on what differences exist if there are. I dont mind getting the GNEX to be frank, way to much pros over the cons, but I can't wait to be able to swap out parts off a phone on the fly like a computer. Now thats going to be the best thing that happened to the phone industry after Android.

Phones have been closed proprietary hardware systems since the modern smartphone. They're getting more closed and proprietary as time goes on. If you want better performance, battery life, and design you need them to be closed, sealed devices.
Even laptops are going this way. If you wanna swap parts get a dekstop computer.

The Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S II camera modules are totally different. If the SII camera worked out of the box with the Galaxus' ISP (which is quite possible,) the connectors are completely different. It would require so much work that it just wouldn't be worth it by any stretch.
That and it probably wouldn't even fit inside the phone.

How many universal parts/standards do you see on the inside of phones? Even if parts were more universal your phone would be uglier than Frankenstein and look like a mummy with all the duct tape keeping it together so you have something usable. A lot of things would have to become standard before swapping parts in and out even becomes thinkable. Think when a thought pops happens upon your head.
let it be.
When i read threads like this or those "can i install Gingerbread on gnex? " i really think these are TROLLS trying to get people mad...
Makes no sense, you want a better camera? Get a nikkon camera... I dont even see the point on better cameras on a phone.. If i can take a picture to put a Face on my contact or to take any fast photo for a quick reference.. Im ok.. Now if I want really good pictures for a wedding, 15 years daughter party or any special moment.. Id hire a professional photographer.. Thats all about it
Ppl tends to be really stupid about this, like iphone fan Boys.. When they figured 4S its a piece of crap they only got left to say oh but the camera its awesome... Yeah?? Better than a nikkon 24mp / 300 photos per second / 2milles zoom 250gb internal memory 1 touch in screen per 300 photos?... I say go to hell

Thanks for ur inputs guys. That been said if you are a member of XDA then I will think you won't be one to comfortably accept what the manufacturer gave u as is, keep it in your pocket and feel satisfied, we are here to tweak, tinker and learn from these devices, some of us at least.
If no one challenged what manufacturers have handed down then there won't be a need for MIUI, Voodoo, Ezekeel etc. I was only looking to see the possibilities I am not an electronic head to know exactly what can be or cannot be done. But I sure can don't mind satisfying my curiosities by raising questions i am unsure about, so call me a troll if u want. "That don't faze me foo".

Even if possible, if. You got enough money to buy 2 phones just to swap cameras, or lets put it this way, the camera its so portant to you that you dont mind spending over 1k USD just to swap the camera and with the risk of damaging the 2 phones in the process (as you said "you are not an electronic head") so risk its even higher of messing all the things up.. And wasting 1k USD?? Ok thats your money its your problem but dont Think any decent person around here will lead you to that and as i said if the camera its so important, dude theres plenty devices out there with 8/12 mp cameras and you can always flash some stock/custom ICS room to that device.
So you can get your camera with ICS in a reasonable way and any1 could help you accomplish that

Don't forget the duct tape and jb-weld.
I still don't get why people are so worried with the GN's camera. I have both (GN & GS2) and can't tell from a glance "oh, this is the GN and this is the GS2" from looking at a picture.
- both are back illuminated sensors
- a 1920x1080 screen is 2 megapixels, most professional photographers say that 5 megapixels is more than enough, above is only useful if you *print* on large medias (eg. posters)
- both have the same sensor size
It is true that the GN had focus oddities and no image stabilization but this was fixed in 4.0.4. Don't forget that the GN has 2 CPUs (Cortex M3) dedicated solely to the camera subsystem. This is why there's instant shoot on that device.
Also consider that things change WAY too fast in this industry to develop standards. Intel can make a new CPU and ride on it for 2-3 years before they need to make a new one, even with AMD nipping at its heels. And when they make their CPU, they make it however they want, and the OEMs will build the form factor around it.
Smartphone companies do not have the same luxury. People want their sensor-laden connected supercomputers to fit comfortably in their hands, and they want it right now. If someone were to try to come up with a standard CPU, it would be obsolete before the ink dried on the standards page. Look how long it took them to agree on MicroUSB, and that's just a port.
Company: Here's your camera standard, the C5. Plug it into any board and you're good to go.
OEM: Only 8 megapixels? No backlight? Not good enough.
Company. OK, here's the C6.
Only 12 megapixels? NO CMOS sensor?
And on it goes.
So i'm on my 3rd one x now, and so far its been trouble free (one day) however im wondering if i should return it for a defect because there is a slight gap between the metal rim which houses the screen and the polycarbonate casing.
I dont know if this is a design fault or how it should be or whether it is acceptable or not. The gap is large enough to see the notification LED light leaking through it. and i can comfortably fit a bit of paper into it.
Im thinking if i keep this one it will be for good, but if i choose to exchange it will probably be with a galaxy s3. (vodafone currently has a 2 week waiting period so i will be out of a phone for a week if i do exchange on the last possible day)
EDIT: If it is a defect then they still havnt got the manufacturing process right, this model is SH25N so thats towards the end of may if im not mistaken.

about the issue i don't think its a problem, since unlike the screen gap it has no effect on the screen quality or functionality

we have much less complaints now
Guys if you wanna go for s3 then go on your own dont post silly question complaining about what you have. I know a lot of defect question were professionally done by HTC haters.

in all honestly and objectivity i do agree
if you want to switch just switch
im starting to miss when we had pure HTC fans on these boards
I did not intend this to be an s3 vs one x thread, but you idiots have somehow managed to turn it into that, i was only stating the s3 as the only other viable option because i want to have the latest tech and both phones are the most recent top of the line models.
I was simply asking if the gap between the frame and the case was big enough to cause concern, in terms of dust getting under the screen as other users have reported. I'm more than happy to go with another one x if this is a one of example because it is without a doubt a great phone minus some issues (which are being corrected every week)

Take a picture of your problem and show it to us. Now we can't say anything about it. If we see a picture we can compare it with our own phones.
You know there are lot more users with faultless hox. If you think hox is better then you should have choose another hox instead of posting silly questions for gap.
Go for another hox if you think you have faulty one.

So ive tried several attempts at photographing the problem but its really hard to see the gap.
The best way i can explain it is its the top part of the metal rim encasing the glass near the notification LED inbetween the rim and the case, that whole top edge has about a 0.2-0.3mm gap which i can comfortably swipe a bit of paper through. Like i mentioned in my OP the gap is also big enough to leak out the light from the LED when it is on.

You are clearly not helping so stop posting. Its hardly a silly question, its about a manufacturing defect for a phone which i paid a lot of money for, not all of us can can afford £1000's worth of stuff like you. Maybe you should take your attitude somewhere else, clearly a lot of built up rage in you. I cant just go ahead an exchange the phone if its not a fault, it wouldnt feel right.
Only you can decide what you want to do with it.
If your easily swayed by other peoples/users opinions you would of bought an iPhone.
No one here really cares if you keep it or change it, only you do. Make your own choice.
If it affects the functionality & aesthetics of the handset, change it. As it will only keep bugging you until you do.
Apologies if my post sounds harsh, my intent isn't. The onus is on you, not us.

Not harsh at all, the first sane response I've see on a thread I wish I had never started. It's doesbt really affect the look of the phone and you don't notice it when the LED isn't on. I just wondered wondered if this was something all all the devices because I notice it on my previous handsets although not to this extent.
Every phone is going to have its own issue... If you want the SIII go for it, I personally started out as a Galaxy SII owner (first android phone). So when the One X came out i thought why not give it a try and i was right, it definitely did not disappoint.
..but you're being replaced by the Droid Pro+, a slower, uglier, bulkier phone with a low rez screen.
Even by looking at the picture, you can see how horrible the screen on the Pro is compared to the HOX but that doesnt matter. I need my phone to reply back to texts, jot down notes, and input things in my calendar and i feel that the best, and quickest way to do this would be on a phone with physical keys. Oh and it feels great to have my four menu keys back.
I dont know what it is but i just couldnt get use to the on screen keyboard. Even using different keyboards(swiftkeys, ics keyboard, thumb keyboard, etc) i just found it really frustrating. I still think the iphone has by far the best onscreen keyboard.
Anyways, im not entirely putting the HOX out of comission, I still might use it as a weekend phone but as my daily driver, I'll be using the Pro+ until Motorola releases a better version.
Oh and one more thing..I've been a Treo user for the longest time so I just think I'm just bias towards phones with physical keyboards haha

My wife had the same issue when she went from a real keyboard to an on-screen one.
However, after trying various different one we have settled on Swiftkey 3 beta and now she would never go back.
Give it a little longer and you will see the benefits, hopefully.
Have you tried the keyboard on the 9900? It is heads and tails above any other keyboard I have used the this swift key is the second best.

I stated that this phone was hard for me to adjust to and so far, a few people have actually recommended certain keyboards to try out. They're actually being pretty helpful come to think of it.
You know what? You best just mossy on if you have nothing informative to say lol

Must have missed the part where you asked for keyboard recommendations. I thought you'd simply said you were getting rid. Silly me, best I just mosey indeed.

I think you missed the part where i said i needed something that would allow me to type quickly and jot down notes, everyone else seemed to give me some input, some alternatives and even some keyboards to try for my one x and your the only one complaining about my thread..but yes, you best me on your way unless you have something useful to say.
Anyways.. ill give swype a try.. i had tried it on my HTC Evo a while ago but i wasnt a big fan of it, hopefully theyve worked out the kinks. Thanks for the feedback people, maybe I wont put the Hox down after all lol

And why is that? Cause im not praising the hox? Cause im not saying how awesome it is and how it trumps any other phone out there right now? Im not bashing the phone in anyway, im simply saying that its not for me as a daily driver. It an awesome phone and its a beautiful built phone but as a daily driver, its not ideal for me.

No, because this is the XDA Developers forum, not Facebook. These forums are for interesting topics that are informative and useful, not someone's personal opinion about whether a physical keyboard is better than a software one. This forum is for that.
I don't mean to cause offence, but there are A LOT of these kind of threads.
@Op,
Another boring thread about the HOX being bad....
How many of these threads has been opened?
If you don't like it go to the machine you like to my opinion but stop cluttering the board and bother us with this BS.
Post is in the wrong section as well, if you are so full of keyboards and Droid Pro+ you should have tried XDA General section to hit a 'wider audience' with your 'experience'.
Pffff... bye!
OP, for lack of a kinder way to phrase it, and the fact it's been a long day...
Shutup.
If you want to point out serious issues, ways the community can help you with that, then by all means that is what XDA is for.
What it isn't for....is to write a tribute to your One X, saying goodbye to it because you don't like the keyboard.
You can do that in private, just hold it up and say goodbye.
enough with these stupid stupid threads, really the worst part about the HOX
its good reviews and coverage attracted too many newbies to "try" it out
you know i made too new decisions i will never ever again advice and apple fan to buy or try an android...seriously i want me, my family and my friends to enjoy it all on our own
I LOVE MY HTC ONE X

Are you deluding yourself or just not reading the responses?
And... You specified that even with 3rd party keyboards you were not happy so why would I suggest keyboards?
This thread was simply you trolling. I know it, you know it, even the people who were politely making suggestions probably knew it. What kind souls with such humility. Not me, I call it as I see it.
Yet again another pointless thread that will be closed by the mods.
If I don't like anything about ANY phone I have I don't broadcast it to the nation I try and find a solution to the problem. If I can't find one I'll live with it. No doubt there are things you don't like on your replacement, are you gonna broadcast to the world again and get another phone?
Please mods close the thread.

Hi guys,
Im not sure if i should be posting this here but id appreciate it if it were left here as it is relevant to you guys.
Im currently looking for a Defy for my brother up in tally. Heres my marketplace link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33388328
But since not everyone can seen that, heres the OP quoted:
My brother in Tally is not techy but hes fed up with his Nokia Nuron freezing up on him so im gonna send him a smartphone. i was gonna send him my vibrant but like i said, hes not techy and doesnt need specs; what he does need is durability so:
Im looking for a Defy that will solve his phone issue and open him up to the smartphone world.
I can only trade my Vibrant in 7.5/10 cond. For a Defy and some cash or something else on yours side. Here are my terms:
My Vibrant has a flawless 10/10 screen and is absolutely in working cond with no issues. The only prob with it is that one of the few times i ever took it out of its shell, i dropped it and dinged the bezel a bit. Its a good-looking ding in thats its nice and round but its a ding nonetheless. Other than that, the bezel has micro scratches that you have to look for to find, and the back covers are slllightly worn.
The phone comes with box, evrrything that came with it (even Avatar in the original sd), original batt which doesnt hold a charge well, as well as a new 1800 mAh battrry i ordered from Amazon ( for Samsung Epic II 4g touch but reported to fit in the Vibrant [original Vibe batt is 1500mAh]). Also comes with a purple TPU case pictured and a badly applied matte screen protector (you can see in pics as well).I am taking this phone with everything to be worth 135$ shipped.*Ill also sell for this amount.
Your Defy must have good esn, be fully functional, screen must be in good condition. Defy<Vibrant price-wise so offer Defy and something else.
if you absolutely cant trade but can give me a good deal on a Defy, i may consider buying it

Sorry, but double posting is not allowed. You've already posted in the Marketplace, so even though you have good intentions, posting the exact same thing again comes to close to spam. Thread closed.
