About 3 times a day, my evo will start to lag horribly. I check system pannel and it says the cpu usage is 100%. Then i look at the processes and theres like 3 apps running and then the normal system processes. Anyone know why?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Which apps are running and maxing your CPU usage? All 3 or 1 of 3 could be the culprit? Apps like Watchdog can tell you what app is blowing up and you can take it from there. I've had a few get out of hand and killing once or uninstalling / reinstalling has corrected it. Clearing data / cache for the app might help. Gotta figure out which ones are maxing it first.
blah blah effin blah
Usually its my normal stuff like handcent, lookout, ane maybe music. Its like one minute its fine and the next its lagging like crazy.

try what conqu1stador said with the watchdog app and if you still cant figure it out, try a different kernel.
Yeah i got the lite version. It looks like a very very nice app. Thanks for your replys.

So it just happened again, finally. I looked at Watchdog right away to see what was causing it, and turns out it wasnt an app at all. Its "Android System". Now, to be honest, im not really sure what that means ( im guessing it means my rom or OS or something like that). Can anyone shed some light on what is happening?
If it matters im running myns 2.2 rls5, and kings #9 kernel.

I was having a similar problem, figured out it was the stock voicemail app, froze it with TB and problem went away.

More than likely you're having the dreaded wakelock issue caused by the combination of baseband 2.15.00.11.19 & PRI 1.90_003. Downgrade your PRI to 1.77_003. That should alleviate the wakelock and battery drainage. If you do not have this combination, download and install the aLogcat app. After initiating the app, look for and pay attention to anything colored in red.
Only time this happens to me is when my phone is syncing my accounts

Yes, but whenever a wakelock appears, Android system seem to always display a high percentage use.

I can't tell if my phone was getting this way before I upgraded to Fresh 3.4.0.1 or if it happened after the upgrade... but my phone is sluggish. I am running the stock kernel with no OC. Sometimes I'll check my CPU with SystemPanel and it says it's constantly around 95-100% which a reboot fixes.
Is this a problem with Fresh? I have been more than happy with Fresh 3.3.0.1. No complaints at all.
Or is this a problem with a specific app? My wife loves to play Bubble Blast on my phone, and when she does my phone gets VERY warm and drains my battery like no other.
Has anyone else had problems after Fresh 3.4.0.1?
Does anyone else play Bubble Blast and have the same problem?
Thanks.
I was running fresh 3.4 for a day or two and it seemed quicker than cm6 for me.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've tried fresh 3.4 highly doubtful its the Rom, you can't see which process is taking up all the CPU cycles?

Yeah? Would wiping cache/data help? Or is it possible that Bubble Blast is just a rogue app using all my CPU power?

Nothing looks like it is using more CPU that is should. I'm not having the problem right now, but normally it just says CPU usage is at 90+%
My radio has been draining my battery at a record pace recently. At 100% battery, I leave my phone on at night. Around 9 in ther morning, there is about 15% left. What could be the problem? I am running kings elite and have had great battery up until about a week ago.

What leads you to believe its your radio that is causing it? It could be a run a way app, locking your CPU at 100%. Have you checked your up time vs awake time to see if you have a wake lock? If you do, the times will be the same, or very.close to the same. What radio and pri are you currently using? Sometimes the 1.90 pri will cause massive battery drain. Changing to pri 1.77 usually solves that issue.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've turned my radio off at night and the battery only drops maybe 10% at most.
Edit
But I will try down grading my radio.

That doesn't necessarily mean its your radio for sure. It could be that an app is using the radio, sending and receiving data. Also, using spare parts is good for tracking down a runaway app

You're welcome. Also, sometimes if I've I'm not too attatched to the setup I'm using, and I happen to have some battery issues...I'll just do a complete wipe, and re flash the rom. Start fresh, and download all my apps again from the market, and install them one at a time. Then I monitor after each app I install, before installing another. Kind of tedious, but sometimes if you can't figure out what's causing a massive battery drain, that's the best way. You know you have a clean start.

Even if you were attached, you can still backup your launcher settings, and apps in titanium, then you can figure it out, and then go back.

You speak the truth! I just like doing things the long way, haha. I find it refreshing to start clean and fresh, without restoring anything I have saved. Just a total clean start. I guess I'm crazy, lol.
Well I think I may have found the culprit. Seems I was signed into latitude. Until I signed out my up time and awake time were identical. Now things are looking like they are getting back to normal.

There is a thread by Calkulin, that has all radios, hboot, pri, wimax versions. Its in the dev section. Download the 1.77pri, and flash in recovery. All of the ones linked in calkulins thread are flashable in recovery. I would link you to it, or attach a copy for you, but I'm on xda app. And no, you don't need to be on a sense rom to flash the pri. Maybe you were thinking of the prl, which you do need to be in a sense rom to update.

Okay so I noticed that even with the Tiamat kernal my battery life hasn't been great. I always see above 60% android system usage. I recently did the "GPS FIX" but I never upgraded my pri or NV. I need some help, I may skipped a step.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I would update all of your radios. Also, I think in settings under privacy, unclick back-up. Also, have you considered turning down how often your phone syncs?
It also could be a rogue app stealing resources... Let's start with my first suggestion, radios are in my Sig.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Okay this is weird, I turned off background data and now no system use. Is that saying it's a rogue app?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Ever since I flashed the GPS fix but possibly after Google+ app. Either way its at 81% usage.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It's still high as hell ATM. 77% consumption. I don't understand. Wish I could get some help.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
There is a fix for it you'll have to search for it I only saw it once
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Someone had a link for me in their sig but they changed it...and I searched to no avail. Sad cause I don't want to ditch cm7 for something so dumb. Just want my GPS to work without having my android system through the roof. Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo is on the other line. -.-
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I had the same problem. Here's the fixes I did before I finally just ditched CM7
I updated my radios (and everything else).
All my syncs were on 4 hour intervals (except weather = 1 hour)
lowered screen brightness
uninstalled facebook, g+ and gVoice (my 3 highest used apps).
rebooted about 6 times
held it wrong
prayed to the gods of android
flashed Synergy RC2
So if you were considering doing those, don't. They aren't the problem.
Ironically, my GPS has never had a problem on any aosp rom (and I've tried darn near all of them), but like you, even with the kernels my stuff just wouldn't work right. I think it has something to do with our phones just not liking the kernel. Give toastch's "godmode" kernel a try or flash back to stock to see if that helps.
Ok so switch kernals or just switch to synergy?

Does anyone know why Tele Nav keeps running? I checked my "Running Apps" and noticed it is always running. I have tried to stop the app from running but it restarts immediately.

TeleNav is a big pain and just does that. One of the reasons that I rooted my Evo was to ditch it. I used it all the time on my Touch Pro 2 but once I used Google Nav on Android I had no use for Telenav anymore.
A while back I read something that it does that, but the simple fix is to launch it and let it connect to internet to check/update it's self

Do you think its eating up your system resources and battery. If so get an app like Autostarts and kill it on boot up

i personally love telenav. much better than google nav. i dont know i just like it better. one thing that i am so confused about tho, its when you put an address in, it gives you different routes in different colors...could someone explain this to me? for the most part i always choose fastest, avoid tolls and hov.
How do I find out which Android process is force closing? It happens every time I restart my phone. It doesn't happen too often but it happens at least once every time I restart. The notification does not say which process, it only says Android process. Sometimes my default keyboard, swiftkey x, is replaced by swype after force closing the Android process. Thanks in advance.
Edit: it actually says the application Android system force closes
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
That actually means "Android System" is force closing. I know useful right? I don't remember where to get the information that might help figure out why but typically a full wipe and a reflash will take care of it.

yea you may have deleted something thats acting up or maybe you installed something your phone is not happy with. I would try to do as the poster above said or run fix permissions in recovery or Rom Manager and see what happens
Are you on an EL13 build? What is your exact setup? If its EL, I may know why.

I do know that undervolting was causing a lot of people to have reboots including myself. I reduced it from 75 to 50. Also did you use Titanium Backup to restore data to your apps. That also causes some issues
I have neither manually undervolted my phone nor backed it up using titanium, so i dont think its from that

I was told that the Android System is calling a file that doesn't exist on EL13. Is it only when you power on phone? Strongsteve found it and fixed it on his ROM but I don't have the knowledge to locate it myself. Is 2.5 Calk's latest update? If he has a newer build, you may want to update. Maybe he found it and fixed it as well.
