Hey,
Did a quick search on this but I cant seem to find a thread which matches this issue.
My phone has developed an overheating issue and constantly reboots when using GPS or 3G
I had my Desire S-OFF and also with Cyanogen 7.
When I originally rooted my phone I used the goldcard method. I had since then wiped my goldcard but created another when I tried to unroot it.
When run the RRU I get the message ERROR [140] BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
I assume this is due to being on 2.3 but how can I downgrade?
Thanks
Update :
I have used the downgrade to restore to 2.1
When I try to flash RUU_Brav2_UK_1.20.207.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06 .00.02_2_release_124865.exe
I still get the same issue as the 2.1 build is 1.12 and the O2 OTA is 1.20
Here's the FroYo o2 UK RUU:
http://www.multiupload.com/7YMY6RLCKY
Issue resolved, thanks Eddy
What I did :
Re made goldcard
Downgraded with the 2.2 to 2.1 tool.
Reflashed RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed
That solved it as the build was 2.14 (greater than the stock 2.1 rom)
Hope this helps anyone else with this issue
Was gonna tell you to do that but assumed you were already downgraded
Glad you're sorted

Hello All,
I have an EVO that was running 1.47 (rooted) with no issues. In anticipation for a 100% bugless Froyo ROM I unrooted with the 1.47 RUU so I wouldn't have any issues with the Official OTA. After HTC pulled the ROM I found the manual install version here at XDA and wanted to give it a shot.
While searching for the 3.26 "official" update I stumbled upon Ava's 2.2 ROM. I tried to reroot using SimpleRoot OTA and install Ava's ROM. Once I got to step four I received the error that the original version of the ROM was newer and it wouldn't finish. I tried to follow the steps found in thread ID 7454229 (can't post links yet) but received a Error 140: Bootloader Version Error. I figured that the rooted ROMs for 2.2 weren't far off and one of the geniuses here at XDA would have it rooted in a day or two - so I didn't think twice about just updating to the "official" HTC 2.2.
I received an email with Flipz' new Fresh v3 beta and wanted to jump ship back to the rooted world. When I attempt to reflash the 1.47 RUU I still receive the Error 140: Bootloader Version error. So I'm kind of stuck, I know I'm not rooted anymore (I get prompts from Quickboot and ROM Manager) and I can't flash to an older version to re-root. I've searched and tried repeated times with no success - can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
Wait, so are you on 1.47 or on Froyo? I'm a bit confused. If you are on 1.47, then you shouldn't have a problem rooting using one of the 1.47 root methods. If you are on Froyo, you are screwed for the time being.
I'm on the 3.26 Froyo update. I was trying to get back to 1.47 via the RUU to reroot with SimpleRoot OTA. Sorry for the long winded, confusing post. I was just trying to provide as many details as possible. I kind of conceded to just waiting for the official 2.2 OTA and an XDAer to root it. I'm just impatient and really want to try out Fresh v3 and Fresh Kitchen.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Rooting is possible. I acheived it using unrevoked but flashing roms and just about anything else seems to be impossible!
Wrong. All you have to do is to get rid of the Bootloader. I used the "old" r6-... root method and had a rooted 1.15 after that. Then I wanted to use the 1.21 RUU... I use Win7 x64 and always get the error 170 on the first try, so I have to start the RUUs twice. The first starts, shows me that I have 1.15 and went to the grey htc logo. It then gets the timeout while "Waiting for Bootloader" (error 170) and breaks. The second launch of the RUU is detecting the device and tries to update. But suddenly it showed that I have the 1.24 VF version! And the RUU stated that I cannot "downgrade".
End of the Story was I did the HBOOT 0.75 downgrade with my already installed rooted 1.15. After that the RUU always said I have the 1.15 and updated the 1.21 fine. Now I have a 1.21 stock rom on my former VF branded Desire and the internal updater says that my phone is up to date... but that is another story.
I assume that using the PB99IMG.zip method for downgrading the 0.92 HBOOT of the FroYo update to 0.80 would have helped in this case too... (speculation).

Could you post a step by step guide to do this as I have been caught with VK OTA udate to 1.24 but have never 'rooted' anything. Can you confirm ut works when the 1.24 software is installed.
Sounds promising, just need a guide on how to do it please!
Thanks,
Hi.
Another Voda UK user here.
I previously rooted my Magic by following the guides here but can't seem to get my head round the Desire rooting.
I have HBOOT 0.83 with the latest Vodafone 1.24 software version.
I have downloaded the latest unrevoked and have been close to running it a coupe of times. Was going to flash the AmonRA recovery as that's what I was used to on the Magic.
On the magic it was just a case of running the update zip on the SD from recovery to flsah a new ROM.
Am I missing something with the desire??
I have to say that I had a 0.80 HBOOT with my 1.24 VF uk branding, so I don't know because the unrevoked root was successful. The version of the VF update was 1.24 and I was unable to go to 1.21 so I did these steps:
First I did this guide:
hxxp://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/307365/14-jun-r6-riskfreeroot-htc-desire-rooting-guide-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/
because it does what it says: "The root process will flash your device with a new, generic 1.15.405.4 based ROM that has Superuser access"
Second I did the downgrade of HBOOT 0.80 to 0.75 using this guide:
hxxp://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2934
After that I applied a 1.21 stock RUU.
But I assume using the downgrade HBOOT 0.92 to 0.80 guide in the dev section here is doing all this in one step. Could anyone try this? It requires a goldcard with this P99IMG.zip on it and the recovery via vol down+power.

We know that all this is possible on version 0.80 but I am and i thought Mr_maz are on bootloader version 0.83. On which recovery doesnt work. It is not possible to flash any image via recovery. Selecting recovery just reboots the handset to the white htc splash screen, not to the black screen with the red triangle. I have spent days trying various guides off the web and none work. And it has been accepted most that those of us on version 0.83 have to wait for someone to crack it!
Has anyone got a solution to this yet?
or know when the voda update is due?
VF update should be 7-10 days from their original press release (so prpbably a week from now)
Lesson learnt today - get a SIM-free handset from a 3rd party when upgrading!!
Hi,
So Vodafone have promised to fix their error. Does anyone know what the steps are to revert back to their 2.1 update 1 in anticipation of a 2.2 update?
During my froyo update I took a Android backup of my 2.1 system. Does anyone know if restoring this will include the radio?
If not can anyone post a live link to the correct radio files and some instructions?
Many thanks,
All the best,
Sam
Hopeful bump...
What ROM are you running at present? Best thing is to get the official Vodafone RUU and set yourself back to stock then get the OTA updates and then wait for 2.2
You want this one:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126338_signed.exe
To use it, connect your Desire and make sure HTC Sync is connected and then run the file. It will revert you back to stock 1.19.161.5 with the radio (assuming you're still on the original HBOOT)
***ALL I SAID ABOVE IS IF YOU'RE NOT ON THE 1.24 VF ROM AT PRESENT***
Yet another noob here requiring help. Hello to you all, hope someone can help.
Until yesterday my Desire was running an unmodified WWE 2.2 froyo rom. The phone wasn't rooted. (can't remember which version of the rom I had). This phone was brought from 02 (UK) and debranded by myself with the above rom installed.
I stupidly checked for OTA updates and one was found - if I remember correctly it was an update that came out in 2010 which caused people's WIFI not to work, switching the WIFI on the word ERROR would appear. Additionally I didn't have my GoldCard in at the time either.
Anyhow, i've been fiddling all night and have now ended up installing ClockworkMod (3.32 - downloaded from their website). I thought I could find a sense rom that would fix the WIFI problem, but now having read through pages of various forums all I want to do is get back to where I was yesterday. I'm not really interested in trying out various roms, all I want is to get back to a debranded sense 2.2 froyo with all features working i.e WIFI.
Apologies if this sounds kinda off, I really didn't think I'd be all day trying to sort this problem out. Perhaps if I'd decided to play around with bootloaders, roms etc. I'd be happy to experiment but not when I don't have the time especially with a little due any moment.
So I'd like to know what my options are now, I would appreciate you help.
Regards
Henguist
P.S Details of phone software:
The current baseband Version is 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20
The Radio Version is 5.09.00.20 (as above)?
The kernel is 2.6.32.15-gf9c0527
The build is 2.29.405.2 CL263770 release-keys
The software is 2.10.405.2
The browser is Webkit 3.1
HBoot is 0.93.0001
i haven't used a gold card for a long time so i'm not too sure if this actually works. someone correct me if im wrong, but i think you can put any .zip rom file into your goldcard and then just run clockwork recovery to update from .zip from sdcard and then it will simply install the rom. the only froyo wwe rom files i can find seem to be .exe files that are meant to be run while your phone is already booted into the OS.
if you do happen to find a .zip rom file you want just boot into clockwork recovery and then wipe /system to get rid of the rom you have installed and then install the .zip you want from sdcard. before doing so it's always best to make a backup in clockwork.
Many thanks kokocabana for your reply! I have now returned back unmodified WWE 2.2 froyo rom, with help from this forum - many thanks.
Firstly I found this thread, followed the instructions there then downloaded RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed and installed.
Hope this helps somebody!
Once again thanks to xda forums
Hi guys just tried to install the 2.3 OTA update that came through today.
Problem is as soon as I try it reboots to the exclamation mark and android symbol.
I am ENG S-OFF Radio S-OFF Sim Unlocked and Perm Rooted.
I did however change my CID to the standard HTC 001.
What could be the issue? I'm not getting any error notifactions or if I am I don't know where to find them?
Any advice?
Have you removed any system apps? Or any of the bloatware they pack in stock builds?
No the only thing I have done is to permroot with Visionary and add radio s-off and supercid now I changed the cid back to stock in prep for the update coming. The ROM is completely standard and stock.
My current version and build info is as follows:
Android Version
2.2
Baseband Version
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel Version
2.6.32.21-gf3f553d

Build Number
1.32.405.6 CL278359 release-keys
Software Number
1.32.405.6
Browser Version
WebKit 3.1
Oh and when trying to use this tool after the failed OTA update attempt to change radio s-off back to on to see if that worked the program no longer seems to work returning failed probably connection errors: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
Thanks for the quick reply.
Same problem as I have in my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081923&page=2
I think its becuase we have S-OFF that we cant get the update. I'd like to know how to get S-OFF back on
If you're both rooted, etc... Why don't you try Seraphics rooted GB ROM?
You can flash it via recovery and is completely stock, other than having root access.
You can find the thread HERE and the ROM HERE
I wouldn't mind knowing how to get S-OFF back on. Starting to wish I didn't root as I cant even get an OTA.
Same problem
I had the same problem ealier today. Yellow ! when the update shuts down the phone, but take out the battery and it loads back 2.2 up..
Tried undoing changes I could remember making- the radio s-off, rooting and the CID. Only other thing I could think of was trying to take clockworkmod recovery off the phone.
I decided just to flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059563
...If you can flash roms, this is probably gonna be much the same as the update.
In the end I was actually pretty disappointed with it. I've tried RCMIX kingdom ROM which has elements of sense3 in it. I hadn't done my research and expected sense 3 with this update.
Thanks for the suggestions guys but I'll be frank and say custom roms aren't interesting me. I use Launcher Pro and make my own lockscreens for all my visual customisations and haven't seen any ROM that does anything out the ordinary other than tweaks.
Its knocked my confidence in using anything off here especially when the tool to s-off supercid and simunlock says its simple enough to go back where in reality after attempting OTA something in the settings somewhere has changed and screwed it up.
The ROM I linked to isn't a custom ROM. Its stock HTC gingerbread with root.

Thanks had a looked more in detail at the rom you linked to and have to say I'm convinced and can't be bothered with OTA anymore lol Decided to stop sitting on the fence and throw myself at the dev communities mercy lol Those using the Easy Radio tool won't be able to go back to s-on unless rooted and to do so ensure that you haven't denied access to an unamed process called "Unknown" in your superuser app as this refers to the radio tools access.

solution of ur problem is to turn ur radio s-on simple.. mine works perfectly fine just installation error occurs which was solved ater factory reset and install OTA update.
