At the moment my Desire HD (not rooted) has the 16GB card in it.
I ordered a 32GB card and it should arrive any day now.
So I wanna know is it enough to just copy paste the content of my 16GB card to my new 32GB card?
Or is there something else that needs to be done so my HD would function properly?

The obvious way is the best. Copy the entire contents of the old card to a folder on your pc then install the new card and copy it back from you pc to the new card. Just do a copy and paste if you wish. I did it and it worked fine.
yes this is the way to do it...i did it multiple times but i think if you have apps2sd you should format it first the same way, i don't use it so i dunno for sure
Thanks.. I was hoping it would be a simple copy & paste
if u had a memory card reader and adapter for the other card, that could be attached to your pc/laptop as another drive then you could just copy from the existing drive to the other
Just a quick question. I just got a class 2 16gb SD card and was wondering if I need to do anything special for this card when I put it in /before/after??
Do I need to copy all the files from my other card? I mean is there anything that sprint or HTC do to the 8gb stock card that will hinder my phone in anyway?
Thanks
All you have to copy to the card is anything on your old card you want on your new one

Sweet, thank you!
Im going to change to a 32GB or 16GB microsd card since the 8gb comes with the device is a little too less for me,so some questions here..
what to notice before i buy the card?
is there some card which is slow some is faster?
and what apps i need to use to backup my apps on the card im using right now.
and last, I did register the premium navigation with the voucher given , so the license in on my device or my card?
thanks in advance
Just copy all the files from your current card to the new card via a PC. I did this with MyPhoneExplorer full SD card backup and copied the files back to a new card via Windows explorer.
Speed wise it depends on the class rating of the new card. There's a post with SD card benchmarks on the forum here.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I have just ordered a 16GB SD card to replace the 8GB one I have.
Do I need to format the new card in the phone before transferring the old data?
You have to format it somewhere to be sure you have correct cluster size.
Try card after that with free SD tools (http://veluscek.amebis.si/index.asp?selektiran=sdtools). There is free market link.

I am also purchasing a 16Gb SD card . I was going to format it using the phone. You can unmount the sd card and then format it. Is this not a good idea?
I was also going to copy the contents of my current card to my pc, and then copy it back to my new SD card. I am assuming this is the correct way of doing things.
I just changed to a 16GB Class 2 about 2 weeks ago. I just copied everything from the 8GB to my computer. Put the 16 in, and copied everything from the computer to the 16. Everything is working fine. No formating. I did check the phone before copying to it (16), and the format option was not selectable. It was grayed out, so I just copied.
would upgrading the stock 8gig sd card to a class 6 make any difference?

You'd probably only really notice a big difference when copying files from the PC to the phone. Don't think you'd see much of an improvement when opening anything on the phone.

If I'm not mistaken, mine is already upgraded (so-called) to class 10 from my previous phone. I however do not notice any difference in performance.
I think suddy86 is right. Even if there is, I guess it would be hardly noticed.
I have purchased a class 6 card. It was only a couple of quid more than a class 4. Its a Kingston SD Card, so should be good. Didnt fancy buying an unbranded cheaper card.
Another question that I am curious about. Can a nandroid backup made on a 8GB sd card, be restored on a 16GB card?
i believe you can just copy the contents of the 8gig to the 16gig (unless its a gold card)
Hello All,
I have recently Sandisk 32 card before this I am using Sandisk 16 gb card which was working great but now the issue I am facing is when I copied some folder in it the folder got copied but the inner folder in that folder was not there. I formatted the card 5 or 6 time and copied the data many time but the problem is same if I copied files/folder root on the card they work well but if there are folder inside folder card will not show him when I disconnect the phone with pc. Can anyone help me on this with any solution ? I think that I did a mistake to bought it
32GB micro sd from SanDsik are always a hassle sometime.
If you do decide to buy another, I will just wait. Taiwan released Class10 32GB MicroSD few month already, should hit USA any moment soon.
Been using it like wonder, smooth fast Stable!! Only that here Taiwan cost only around $40USD.
You might also have a SD card adapter + reader problem.
Its means I got ripped off by buying this no solution for it ?
