Call/Message Forwarding Shortcut on Homescreen - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey there,
would it be possible to add a toggle/shortcut to enable call and message forwarding? its a bit "complicated" to do it through the standard settings.
DN41

There is a shortcut for Directdial. Is not that enough for you? I do not know if there is any shortcut for sms forwarding though...

directdial?
mh...a "toggle" would be really nice though.

Create two new Contacts: one named Forward_On w/ phone number **21# and one named Forward_Off, phone number #21#.
you can pick other names if you like.
now, from your home-screen select
Personalize > Shortcut > direct dial > pick "Forward_On" > pick the item w/ **21# as number and repeat the same for "Forward_Off". Now you should have 2 Items on your homescreen which turn call forwarding on and off.
Finally (if you haven't done so already), set up the destination phone number by calling **21*0123456789#, replacing 0123456789 w/ the phone number you want to redirect all your calls to.

wow thats great
thanks a lot
is that possbile with message forwarding as well?
DN41

No, you cannot do message forwarding this way. (Call forwarding is a gsm-feature which is configured using the codes I mentioned. That means, once you activated this feature, your service provider will do all the forwarding for you, your phone doesn't do anything to forward a call. Message forwarding on the other hand is a sense-feature. Thus it cannot be set up with a gsm-code and you will have to use another method.)
you might want to try an app like Any Cut or BetterCut but I don't think your chances are too great...

ok, but thanks a lot for those informations.
i'm gonna ask the dev of widgetsoid, if he could do such a toggle.

Forwarding calls

Is there any way of setting up a short cut button to forward your incoming calls to another number? The reason I ask is because the way you have to do it is to go menu>options>services>call forwarding>get settings>forward all incoming phone calls to>. It would be much easier to just press two buttons one to forward and one to reset back again.
Thanks
Phrontis
There is a "shortcut" but it's not on the phone and it depends on the carrier.
With my local carriers, they support activating different forwarding options by use of a sequence of key strokes + phone number to their system. I forward calls to my phone in the office when at work so I save the sequence+number to my Contacts and add it to Favorites, and whenever I'm in the office I simply select Favorites to send the instructions to the system to activate. Naturally I also have another entry on Favorites to deactivate.
Check with your carrier to see if they support this.
from the phone screen click menu>options>Services tab>Call Forwarding and click "Get Settings..." this might be different depending upon carrier but it works for me

Google Voice question

Is it possible to have gVoice only handle calls to my google number? I don't want calls to my sprint number to be handled by the google voice so I guess I'd have two seperate voicemails set up.
What do you mean? GV only forwards calls made to your GV number to your Sprint number or whatever number you specify. It does not handle calls made to your Sprint number.
Plus i think you're posting in the wrong section.
Google Voice is an app right? Would this be better in General?
If you call my sprint number right now, it will go to google voice's voicemail.
You can modify this in the google voice settings (not from your phone). Whether sprint or Google voice gets the voicemail is not a function of the app.
Go to google.com/voice > Settings on top right > Voice Settings. Under 'Cell' click 'Edit' then 'show advanced settings', then under 'Forwarding options' you click 'deactivate'.
.. Since it says "When someone calls this phone directly and I don't pick up". By directly, they must mean your actual cell phone number.

Thanks a bunch! I think that's what I needed. Will test tonight when my girl gets home. I use the google voice for my business, so I like to use two separate numbers/voicemails. thanks!

If you haven't already, check out the options for different voicemail greetings for different contacts. e.g. When my girlfriend calls, she gets her own custom greeting, whereas, if anyone calls who is grouped in my "work" contacts, they get their own, slightly more professional greeting, and so on. Also, there are options to screen certain calls (as if they're going through a service before it reaches you) and let others pass directly through to you.
Enjoy!

Yeah I like that option, but I have all personal calls go to my cell number, even if they aren't in my contacts list. I wish I could still use google voice for both voicemails, but without the numbers already being in my contacts, they'd always get the business voicemail, which would be confusing.

phone fusion

1. Select Settings on your handset
2. Select Call Settings
3. Select Forwarding
4. Now select the appropriate Forwarding options. They vary by manufacturer. You want to forward on these conditions:
Busy
No Answer
Unavailable
Does anyone know how i get to that? I would like to use phone fusion as my voicemail, instead of sprint's.
You need to push menu on the home screen, select setting, then call settings, the voicemail settings and good to go from there, just follow any instructions from there.
The only options i have under voicemail settings is the voicemail number. I do not have a forwarding option.
Did you click the app for the program in the drawer? May have to look for it there and start the setup, because I had to the other day when I started using google voice.

Unset Default Phone Number for Contact?

How can you do it? I can change it, but not unset it.

I'd like to know that as well. Somehow my wife's contact got set to her office number and I can no longer call her cell from the quick contact thing - it just dials her office automatically. Really annoying, and so far, I've found no way to change this, other than setting her cell as the default. It used to have NO default and would give me the option each time. I'd really like to have that back.
Unset Default Number for Contact
Go to your contact list. Long press on the contact. Cselect "Set default action" and choose the phone number you want to set as default.

We don't want to change the default number, we want NO default number set.
I just checked comparing this on Sense and CM7. In Sense, I click to call a contact and it automatically dials the default number. On CM7 if I do the same thing, I get a list of that person's various numbers and can choose which one I want to call.
This is really useful when you have, for example, someone's home, cell and work number in their contact. I don't want ANY number to be the default if I might be calling them at any time of the day and not only when they're likely to be reachable by one particular number.
Maybe Sense was never able to do this, I've switched back and forth between Sense and AOSP so many times I don't recall but I thought it could.

Just a thought- you might could clear defaults under contacts or contact storage in settings>applications>manage applications>contacts/contact storage>clear default

Follow this instead of choosing a number choose view contact. That way when you click the contact on the widget, it will bring up their contact card with all points of contact instead of just number. That's the way in Sense anyway. The Sense widget has to set something for each contact.

Adding pause to phone number

Hello,
I been searching to figure out how to add a pause between phone number and conference ID/extension. I've tried adding a comma (,), "p", and period (.) without success. Tried by adding this to a contact's phone number - such as 555-555-1234pp123456# or 555-555-1234,,123456#, etc.
Does anyone know of a solution? Is this a limitation in Windows Phone in general or is this OEM specific?
Thanks for your help.
Add the contact using Windows Live, Outlook, or however else you can add commas and still have it sync, then it works.
ie:
mobile phone
(800) 555-8355 ,2548
Add more commas if needed.

Before you do this, read the Last Paragraph.
1. Go into your settings and then Phone Settings and write down your Voicemail number. Be sure to copy it exactly, including spaces.
2. Open Office on your phone and start a new Word Document. Type your Voicemail number exactly as you saw it.
3. Add a p after the number and then type your password. Now, highlight and copy this new number.
4. Go back to your phone settings and paste this new number including the p and password.
5. Back out and see if that worked. If you have any trouble, put the old number back into phone settings.
I'll change numbers so you don't have mine, but here's an example:
+1 (415) 497-1234p1234
This works on ATT. We also have an option to bypass password completely within the Voicemail settings menu after calling voicemail. On ATT it's option 2, then passwords, then turn off password.
Hey what i did was just type the number in a text editor and pasted to contact detail.. it worked
