hello, i just tried this tuto
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755903&page=4
but could not do it several times as described in the tutorial...
i charged the desire while it was on until the led light turns green... then i powered it off and charged it.. the led light became green after only a few minutes... so i powered it on.. and then switched if off.. put the charger but led light remained green.... so couldn't repeat it several times as described in the tutorial...
then i started using it... i lost like 1% every 1.5-2 mins of internet browsing... is that normal??
playing games like super mario on tigergba for 1 minutes drains like 1% of my battery..
is that all normal? so overall after 10-15mins of use (internet and gaming) i lost like 9% to 10% of battery... normal?
YMMV depending on conditions like what software your using, what's running in the background, live wallpapers, updating widgets and radios... Can't really say whats normal, my phone lasts about 2 days with just Bluetooth (car), three email accounts downloading every 5-15 mins and a few other things. Either carry a spare batt or change your usage.
no live background and wifi always on... that's it.. i am not even put a sim card on it yet... so not using gsm..
Is the phone/batt new? May take a while for it to reach full capacity... Also, you could try re-calibrating the batt through AmonRa.

what is Amonra? i have put my sim card on it... yes the phone and batt are new. have used it a couple of days now(about 8-9 charges in all now) and i lose 4% of batt after 2hrs and 07mins of phone on (and about 21mins of wake time)... without doing nothing... only standby.. everything turned off, wifi, bluetooth, everything.. i just want to know if the battery consumption is normal?
p.s. i also have a static wallpaper and my brightness is about 10%
4% of battery consumption in 2hrs of standby seems ok right?
To check ur battery usage, put a sim card in it and leave it in idle (Wifi off, data off and auto sync off) and No call/sms.. just locked and idle and you should lose only 1% per hour... if you are losing more like 3-4% every hour, then some process running in the background is using up the battery..
Use this as a measure to check your battery drain.. It always works for me
yes i Tink the battery is the cause

ok so 2% par hour is too much? i have everything off with low brightness and no live wallpaper.. i have advanced task killer and task xp and swipe panel running in background... maybe they are the cause?
update:
up time : 4:24:50
awake time : 0:29:05
battery : 95%
have done nothing apart just look at my contacts, navigate through menus and browse image gallery
The battery consumption seems right for me but i not really sure as it's my first smartphone
2% is not abnormal. 1.5% per hour is alright.... What rom are you using and have you overclocked with setcpu??
Edit: and a small advise.. Dont use task killers to kill off apps. Let them be. Just exit from an app using the back key. Use task killer only in an extreme case where an app hangs up. Otherwise android will take care of apps just fine.
and enjoy your smartphone... I try to use it maximum and charge every morning.. it is a beautiful device
If you use advanced task killer that could be an explaination for higher batterie drain. If you use android 2.2 or above then you don't need it.
Also do you have amoled? If you have a white screen showing on your phone your batterie drain is much higher then with darker colours.

ok thx for the advice. i am on stock froyo. I have set auto kill on advanced task killer.. i should disable it? and any good app to switch between apps? i am using task xp.
update : 5h45mins of standby and 6% of battery drained. about 1% per hour.. hence i think it's normal thx the advice anyway
Hi! Before i have got a drain of 3-6 mA with most of the roms, but suddenly all roms dain 16-20 mA. No matter if it is MIUI , cm7 or sense roms. They all have the same drain .. is my battery bad ?
Got my phone waterdamaged 2 weeks ago , but this bad battery time started yesterday...
First you need to calibrate the battery.
Charge your phone until Current Widget shows 0mA. Then go into recovery and delete battery stats. Let the phone discharge until it shuts down by itself, then charge until it is back to 0mA. That will calibrate the battery.
Secondly, new ROM's do take a few days to "learn" how to use the battery most efficiently so you wont get the best battery life instantly.

I know that ROM´s need a few days , but i have waited a few days ,and noticed that it is allways the same drain... But i will try calibrate my battery next
And please make sure that during the period of charging it the second time that you do not take it off the charger. That will mess up the calibration and you will have to start all over again.
you might want to try a new radio too
same for me. I tried everything I could.
I tried these roms:
-coredroid
-ARHD
-honey
-virtuous
-MIUI(current)
I tried these methods:
-multiple new recommended radio + ril
-battery calibration app + clear battery stats(recovery) @ 100%.
-full wipe 1.5
-re-root(hack kit v12.3)
-different kernels
When I first rooted my phone battery was perfect on any roms until I flashed ARHD,thats when my battery drainage happened.

Same here lol. The drainage started after flashing ARHD, witch is the best rom out there .. so dunno how to solve this

how many hours you are getting now....with regular usage ????
I'm getting the same here... Started with ARDH too, then LeeDroid, now Virtuous.
Clean installs each time, apps restored using Titanium. Also re-flashed the recommended Radios too and calibrated the battery once.
Current drain is 15% / hour on Standby ~70+mA.
I noticed no unusal Wake Locks either.
I'm loving Virtuous, but thinking to go back to stock if the new Viruous update doesn't solve this.
Just whilst typing this I lost 2% :-(
Yeah this is no fun...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Delete all htc account and calibrate the battery
I have a problem with latest version of Android Revolution HD 6.1.0.
Yesterday afternoon I fully charged my phone and used it only a little bit until I went to bed and turned the phone off.
Today when I turned my phone on again (fastboot) I was shocked: Battery was at 25%.
How can the battery drain that fast over night while turned off?
I am using the correct Radio (12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M), Superwiped before flashing new version of ARHD and also cleaned battery stats when it was fully charged.
Can you please help me finding out what is causing this?
I´m not getting that much battery life out of my HTC Desire HD either when running ARHD 6.1.0 ... Is there any RADIO that could help?
Weird - I have similar problem with 6.1 Revolution.
Battery seems fine all day, put it on my bedside table last night at over 80% battery...woke up this morning with 2% battery left!!
really weird.
Matt
I'm gonna download Current Widget now and enable the log option and see what is happening in the log overnight.
Post the log up then and see if someone can take a look.
Any news about this? I feel that mine is dropping rather fast aswell..
Saturday i installed 6.1, installed applications and used the phone.. At a total screen was on for 4 hours... After a total of 5 hours, the phone was down to 15% battery...
Does application installation take that much or is something not quite right? I feel that i had more batterytime with 5.2.4..
Now i can basically see the battery values dropping while using the phone.. I have current widget and sometimes when i start the screen and go to home screen it says way above 500mA, is this right?
Well i don't have any issues, while using ARHD 6.1 with the recommended Radio

How have you managed to have Display use up so little battery?
Mine always has about 75% and up, at the least...
I use Autobrightness with no Mod for lower Autobrightness.
I have nothing changed.
Flashed recommended Radio.
Flashed ARHD 6.1.
Done.
As you can see some harder Battery drops, while i was playing some Games. All time WLAN on. But i used it als always and had a very nice Battery expand.
Hmm, How much time is your display turned on? as i said, this saturday after i had flashed i emptied the battery in about 5 hours with screen on 4 of those.. Feels like the screen is taking alot of battery but i guess.. I had full brightness, not auto..
I don't know exactly but i would say display was active vor 15h+.
Autosync runs every 3h.
If you freshly flashed, it will take some time to stabilize. So maybe drain it until its empty/almost empty(10%) then get a full charge. Try to reboot and watch again. If you still have problems you schould install current widget and let i generate log. where you can see how much it drain if display is off and/or phone is standby.
If I put on screen from standby and check current widget i have 3mA/5mA. So if display is off the drain is very low.
How much does your Jellytime ROM drain from battery? Using battery e.g. Battery monitor widget, I can see 60mA drain when phone is standby. Seems to be a lot for me. I didn't find comparsion just subjective claims - high/low drain. 60mA is with wifi turned off, bt disables, no gprs/3g data, just standby. No application seems to be running. Battery stat shows that 60 % is display (but I can confirm that display is off), 40 % cell stand by and about the same amount phone idle.
You can try BetterBatteryStats to check what might be draining your battery (if any).

Thanks, I will try it. So far I was using Battery Monitor apk. However, I have no reference if my battery drain level is expected for that rom or not.
I'm also having issues with battery drain on JT... really strange. It seems to have drain when in standby, and when the screen is on it goes like crazy, I can't get more than like 20-30 minutes of screen-on time. I really like this ROM, it is pretty stable and works fine, no major bugs but the battery drain is crazy. I took a couple of screenshots. It seems that process Media is keeping it "awake" and causing battery drain. In all other ROMs I used (and in stock) I have never seen any other process except SCREEN using more than couple of percent of battery. Now this media process is using almost as screen! Any clues as what it is?
Also, I noticed that it discharges quickly when screen is on, but it also charges quickly! Something wrong with battery stats? It simply can't go from 20% to 70% in 10 minutes while charging?

Hmm, could you provide mA value (battery monitor shows it in history in 10 minutes intervals..)
I can do five hours with normal use on a full charge..
These are battery stats for my DHD. The first one is standby over night with stok HTC ROM (2.3.5), the second one is with JellyTime ROM 9.1. It takes 10times more power.

That's not much. Was it better as long as you can remember with stock HTC ROM? I could do 2-3 days with normal use with stock ROM.

Yes, but my cost for 2-3 days is: no gsm data, no wifi (or wifi for something like 5 minutes), no widgets except htc clock & weather, almost no background apps, few phone calls, moderate number of sms. (Yes I hear you saying, you don't need 'smart' phone , I do, I use some apps but not too frequently, so avg running time from 100% to say 10% of battery was 2-3 days, mainly depending on number of sms sent
I had it charged to 100%. Then I kept it charging, went to recovery and deleted battery stats. I booted and when it displayed lock screen I unplugged. Then I played for like 10 minutes (screen on) and my battery went from 100% to 88% !!! A bit too much? I installed betterbatterystats so I hope I'll see which process keeps it awake (there's drain even when screen off)...

perhaps try to install: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.bmw
it provides history of current consumption, that can tell whether it is a lot or not.
Btw, what do you exactly mean by "played for 10m"? What did you do?

Thanx for the tip, I'll try installing the app you suggest. "Played" means I turned the screens on louncher a couple of times to update all widgets, went into settings, looked at the battery stats etc. Maybe lounched foursquare and titanium backup, nothing really intensive... Here are shots from batterystats. Seems to me media service is doing it...

yes media service seems to be suspicious. It says, the phone was in deep sleep only half an hour for last hour while screen on was really only for about 10 minutes. I think the problem is in remaining time. I am not really familiar with bbs logs, maybe post the log into BBS thread here on XDA for help if you cannot figure it yourself.

There is no need for wiping battery stats.
Once your phone recharges to 100%, battery stats reset by default.

Ok, I figured out, what is causing high battery drain. It FM radio. After clean flash and basic setup, it consumes 10mA when standby. Which is twice more than with stock ROM, but seems to be acceptable. If I run and then exit Sprite FM radio app, phone starts to consume 60mA until reboot. After reboot, it is ok, until I run Sprite FM app again.
However, BBS does not show anything useful. Maybe because of FM HW keeps running? There is shown no SW battery eater..
I still can't figure it out Here's log of consumptuon in standby from last night, I have it set on profile manager to turn off data and set airplane mode from 1am-7am. Looks good to me, can someone confirm these are OK values?

2012/09/24|01:39:43|-13mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
seems to be of slight using or runnign backgroud processes this hour?
Code:
2012/09/24|01:49:44|-7mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
2012/09/24|01:59:43|-7mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
2012/09/24|02:09:43|-7mA|58%|3955mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
this is expected consumption, with stock HTC ROM I got -3 - -5mA, but -7mA is pretty good. With R10 I got -10mA, don't know why it does sleep less than it should.
Code:
2012/09/24|06:46:44|-210mA|53%|3740mV|21.0ºC|.0|0
2012/09/24|06:56:44|356mA|57%|4187mV|24.0ºC|.3|6
2012/09/24|07:00:44|-264mA|71%|3816mV|25.0ºC|.360|2
2012/09/24|07:10:44|-254mA|51%|3721mV|24.0ºC|.1000|0
what happened here? -264mA is a lot of power consumption, do you remember what did you do? Common usage should be around -100mA.
Hi everyone!
I'm using JellyTime 4.2.2R8 on my DHD.
It's working fast but battery drain so much.
Ex: I only view screen, scroll something. Everage 1 minute, battery degree 1-2%
Who can help optimize this problem?, thanks!

Hi,
I installed JellyTime R8 on Monday evening, and I haven't experienced such a battery drain so far, it goes down a bit faster than my stock Gingerbread+Sense ROM. I might have other stats issues (wrong "on battery" duration, charge stuck at 90%...), but no drain so far.
I am not well experienced in flashing ROMs and how to solve problems, but I have seen lots of people advising to flash the battery stats and recalibrate. But you need a few complete charge/discharge cycles to make it work properly. (But according to a few other people, it's a kind of religious belief too...)
You can also install a more precise battery stats app. I saw a more detailed message in Jellytime Dev thread (in one of the last pages). If I find it again, I let you know.

I cannot find again the thread/post where I saw this information, but the application some people advise to use is BetterBatteryStats.
To give you a counter example: since I flashed JellyTime R8 (Monday 20th Mai, 23h GMT+1), I fully charged my phone only twice.
The first discharge took almost a day (but I used it a lot, configuring and playing with the new features).
The second discharge started 33 hours ago and I still have 50% as we speak. Maybe the stats are wrong, but the phone is still ON after 33hours. I'll let you know how long it lasts.
I am on GSM roaming all day long, but my phone stays most of the time in standby mode.
A few things that I've done to optimize the battery life:
- remove the constant location-tracking, both GPS and 3G (especially as GPS is not working since I flashed JT R8);
- remove permanent/auto 3G connection, as I am spending all the day abroad, it is useless to keep 3G activated, without data roaming on.
Go in Settings/location and switch the toggle off.
Go in Settings, expand Wireless and Networks (Plus), then Mobile Networks and untick the first box (my ROM is in french so I am not 100% sure of the translation, it might be something like Activate Data)

Thanks Matth59 !
I toggled off some setting in phone (GPS, MobileData, effect screen, animation, turn off notification some app...)
But but it does not improve the problem of battery.
I charged full battery, after 24minutes
Saw status of battery on 24m19s, (95%)
Screen 70% (I set bright of screen about 20-30%)
Cell standby 6%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 5%
Wifi 3%
Facebook 3%
Android OS 2%
Media server 2%

And how long does it usually take for it to be discharged?
The second time I charged it, it said that charge was complete and stopped charging at 90%, and I got the impression that it reached that level quite fast. But the device is still on, after 38 hours.
I hope somebody with more experience in that field can give you a better advice or more information, than just flashing the battery stats and recalibrate it.
After one week of using R8, this is how battery is going for me.
On standby, it can last as long as it used to with the stock Sense + Gingerbread ROM (or even a bit more, but maybe because I haven't reinstalled all my apps).
When using the phone, battery life is going down quite fast, and I am not sure if it can last more than 1 day of normal use (3g, mails, messages, calls...).
The most battery consuming task is the screen. It makes me wonder if it could be related to the feature that was introduced by Google since JellyBean 4.1: Project Butter, which makes everything smooth in Android.
