As Jayharper08 said, the easiest, and first thing to try would be to re flash your recovery. The easiest way to do that would be with rom manager, providing you can boot into the rom still. If you can no longer get to the rom, flash the PC36IMG attatched (Amon Ra Supersonic V2.3 recovery) using your bootloader. To do that, download the file, make sure its named exactly PC36IMG, put it on the main directory of your sd card. Power the phone down, and boot to bootloader. It will find the PC36IMG and ask you to update. Select volume up to say yes. Once it's done, from the bootloader, select recovery. You should now boot to the Amon Ra recovery screen. That should work.

Crap!!! I tried it !!! re flashed clockworkmod....rebooted into recovery...still same loop....I installed the file ( PC36IMG into the root folder) ziped,
or should i extract the file from my PC? ) if not...back to the same loop, recovery, fastboot, fastboot, recovery,,,an so and so and so...
Now...Rom manager gives me the option of flashing a Rom from sd card....but i think i can not do that without wiping!!!

Make sure you keep it zipped. You don't want to extract it. Make sure it is all caps. Hope you get it! If you can get back to rom manager try to flash the alternative recovery (which will be RA)

Don't unzip the file. Just make sure it's named exactly PC36IMG, and on the main directory of your sd card. Then when you boot to the bootloader, it should ask you to update, select yes. If that goes successfully, you should have Amon's recovery. If it's successful (or appears to be) and you still don't have recovery, I'd say you need to unroot and start all over. Does your bootloader currently show S-on or S-off?

Thanks, somehow after one rebot, I could go into recovery menu!.
Flashed my new ROM , ( Ultra Blakk3) I dindt liked that much, and flasshed back my Unleashed Ultra.

[Q] help

Successfully rooted my phone yesterday, but was unable to flash Android 2.2. After fastboot checks pc36img it just goes back to fastboot screen. Was there a problem with unrevoked3 or clockworkmod?
If you are trying to flash a rom, you need to do that from recovery. What exactly have you done to your phone so far, which root method did you use?
I used the method for rooting Eco 4g with Android 2.2 I rooted the phone through to Android 2.1 then with unrevoked3 then copied clockworkmod files to the sdcard
But have u actually installed a recovery yet? You have to push a recovery through ADB or use a terminal emulator.

I thought clockworkmod was a recovery when I go into recovery it is a clockworkmod version

So you have root, you have your recovery, what is it you are trying to do now?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Yes but more so the update zip I think the recovery flashed correctly, the guide says to go to hboot and the phone checks for pc36img, but once it does instead of asking me if I want to apply update it just go back to fastboot
If you're already rooted why r u trying to flash a pc36 image?

Trying to flash 2.2 root I'm on Android 2.1 now
You don't need to flash PC136.img to get android 2.2. If you're fully rooted with recovery you can flash any ROM that uses Froyo and you'll have 2.2

You don't flash a rom with a pc36img. Download your 2.2 rooted rom and place it on the root directory of your SD card. Also, make sure you delete the pc36img on your card so your phone doesnt keep searching for it later. Turn the phone off. Boot into recovery by holding down volume and power at the same until until the white bootloader screen appears. Select recovery. Then select wipe/factory reset, then select wipe cache. Then select install zip from SD card. Scroll to your rom and select it, confirm yes when it asks, and wait for it to finish flashing. Once it's done it will say install complete. Then select reboot system now. Your done.

I'm starting to get confused here.....
1. Are you sure that you're rooted?
2. Are you sure you have successfully flashed a recovery?
3. Have you copied the .zip of the ROM you want to flash to the root of your SD card and booted in to recovery and tried to flash the .zip?
Sorry for the confusion, but I'm new to this, I'm positive I'm rooted and that I have clockworkmod recovery installed. I copied 2.2 root zip from my desktop to the root of my sdcard along with the pc36img and busybox. All three where part of the download link from the guide
Where is this guide at that you are following? If we can see where you are at, then maybe we can help get you back on track with what you are trying to do.

Step 3: After choosing NO to the reboot, you will see a menu again. Select Bootloader from the menu, then use the Volume Down button to hover over "Recovery" and press Power to click on it.
If your phone gets stuck at the White EVO 4G screen, pull your battery, and then power on while holding volume down again. It should boot to the bootloader again, where you can select recovery.
Once you are booted into this custom recovery, go to
It's supposed to go back to your menu (the white menu with the 3 green androids on skateboards) after scanning the PC36.img This is where you boot in to "recovery" Once in recovery, you can flash the 2.2.zip I have to say I've never used Clockwork so I'm not exactly sure if it's all the same menu. I've always used AmonRA
Not sure how i'm tucking it up, but the phone doesn't ask me if I want to reboot or if I want to apply the update what I do know is that if choose recovery and flash 2.2 it says install complete, but when I boot up i'm still in 2.1

htc evo thinks its an htc incredible

so my buddy has an evo, he was playing around with flashing, and somehow he thought it would be a good idea to flash the Incredible rom: IncDoes MIUI rom to his evo. obviously this caused problems. the rom surprisingly works somewhat well though. but lots of stuff is missing and everything force closes. so i tried to boot into recovery, but to no avail. i can get to the hboot screen just fine though. so im assuming he somehow got rid of his recovery? any ideas? and when i went into the rom manager app, i was going to try to flash clockwork that way, but it recognizes his phone as an incredible. so i guess im wondering if i need to flash the recovery again? thanks guys
just flash the recovery manually or using a pc36img.zip. should work just fine.
how would i go about doing this with out having a recovery? ive only flashed from either clockwork or the rom manager app.
ok, first, you cant flash a recovery while inside a recovery. so download a pc36img.zip from amon-ra's thread, put it on the root of your sdcard named pc36img.zip exactly, and boot into bootloader. it should scan the sdcard. hit vol up to accept the 'update', and then you are good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
You can download amon_ra recovery there, then rename the zip to PC36IMG and place on the root of sd card, boot into bootloader, and select update.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
here is the link to the recovery thread if you need it. as stated earlier, download the PC36IMG.zip file and follow the bootloader instructions
Edit: someone else beat me to it
and..... SUCCESS!!! thanks guys! big mahalos!
Anytime man. I can give you the clockworkmod 3.0.5 if you wanted that one instead.

Your Evo is fine, so relax.
Try toggling off Signature Verification, then flashing your ROM. Also, I recommend Amon Ra over Clockwork because the newer Clockwork will not flash older ZIP files that don't use the newer install scripts. Did you at least make a Nandroid Backup before attempting any of this?

Flashing to Amon RA recovery will be your best bet. Forget about clockwork. The easiest way to flash to Amon Ra would be to use ROM Manager, and select 'flash alternate recovery'. However, you can't get booted up, so that option won't currently work for you. You can download Amon Ra V2.3 in PC36IMG, from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026. You would then place the PC36IMG on the root of your sd card, either using USB MS toggle in recovery, or by removing your sd card from the phone, and using a card reader to put it in your PC and then dropping the file on it. Then put it back in your phone, and boot to the bootloader. It will detect the PC36IMG.zip, and ask you if you want to update. Hit volume up to say yes. It will then flash the new recovery for you. At that point, I'd try wiping again, flashing Calkulin's Format all.zip (attatched), and then try reflashing a ROM. Remember, don't try restoring any previous nandroids made by Clockwork while your using Amon Ra. It will mess stuff up. Good luck.
honestly im not sure if i did i did a back up in the rom manager.. and tried restoring from there but wont do it.. and i believe the toggle is already off

Alright, I'll tell you how to get back to completely stock and then root all over again. It shouldn't take long at all. This is what you do:
1) Download this ZIP, name it "PC36IMG".zip (no quotes) and put it in the root of your memory card. Meaning if your card shows up on your computer as E:\, then put it in E:\ (no folders).
2) Go into Bootloader mode/hboot (Power + Volume Down), and let it find the zip after a few seconds. It'll ask you if you want to apply it. Hit yes. This will take a while and your phone might reboot a few times.
3) When it's done, you're on an unrooted ROM, but still S-OFF. You can do one of two things:
A) Download the latest Unrevoked and run that all over again (takes like 5 minutes).
B) Download Amon_Ra recovery zip (replace the other PC36IMG.zip) and repeat step 2 to flash it. Then flash whatever you want.
That's it. From then on you can flash whatever you want. What kernel were you trying to use btw? HTC 17?

Okay. You're almost there. Now that you have the PC36IMG on your sd card, power the phone off completely. Then hold power and vol+down so that it will put you into the bootloader. Then just wait a few seconds, and the bootloader will scan and find the PC36IMG, then tell you it found an update, and ask you if you want to update. You wll press volume up to say yes to the update. It will then flash the PC36IMG (whether its just the recovery, or if you're unrooting and rerooting using Fred's method, you flash the same way from the bootloader)
sorry, fred already got to ya!

Just to verify, because it needs to be exact. THe file that you put on your sd card, is named exactly like this, correct ? :: PC36IMG :: It must be capitals. Do Not add a :: .zip :: to the end of it, because the phone does that. If you did label it :: PC36IMG.zip, it would really be PC36IMG.zip.zip, which the bootloader won't recognize. so be sure that it is on main root of your sd card, and named properly, then the bootloader should recognize it.

[Q] MIUI will not flash and is stuck in boot loop

Hi,
I started having problems with my phone a few days ago and today I attempted to reset it. It's now stuck in a boot loop every time at the MIUI logo. I've tried flashing my ROM again but had no luck. When I go into recovery it does not recognize anything on my SD card. I have had this ROM installed for some time now. I have clockwork mod but it won't load! I just want to be able use my phone again. Any suggestions are appreciated!
My phone is an HTC Droid Incredible (original) and I am running MIUI 2.11.9
Best,

A little confused. You said when you go into recovery, then you say you have CWM, but it does not load. So can you get into recovery or not?
Re flash cwm or flash twrp, and then try to do a restore or flash a rom. If recovery still wont see your sdcard, then reformat it fat32 with a pc and try again.
I assume you tried to do a factory reset from the hboot menu and thats where the problem started?

Alright, so I was able to boot into recovery. However, when I try to flash a rom (I've tried two different versions of MIUI) it's stating that "some symlinks failed" and I am getting an error:

Error flashing zip '/sdcard/MIUI.us_inc_v4.1.2.1

Its because the rom zip has not been updated for twrp. Either learn how to mod the file, or you may want to flash cwm http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/ recovery instead.

You are saying that you can get into Clockworkmod recovery, but you want to install Clockworkmod recovery? If you already have it, you don't need to reinstall it (unless, of course, there is something wrong with it...)
If you have installed a custom recovery, have made a goldcard out of your sdcard, and have achieved s-off then you can just flash a ROM zip from the recovery (and gapps too). If you have only unlocked the bootloader without s-off then there are some extra steps to flash a ROM, I think.
cannot find rom.zip/boot.img in recovery

You are saying that you can get into Clockworkmod recovery, but you want to install Clockworkmod recovery? If you already have it, you don't need to reinstall it (unless, of course, there is something wrong with it...)
If you have installed a custom recovery, have made a goldcard out of your sdcard, and have achieved s-off then you can just flash a ROM zip from the recovery (and gapps too). If you have only unlocked the bootloader without s-off then there are some extra steps to flash a ROM, I think.

maybe you mean can't find boot.img..?
if so...you must extracted from the ROM.zip it self...n then copy boot.img to the root of your sd card..
hopefully can help..
What ROM are you trying to flash? You flash the boot.img from your computer with fastboot, not from your phone's SD card. Also, please use punctuation and newlines, and please stop shortening words (like to -> 2). It makes it easier to read your posts and, therefore, easier to help you.
It sounds like you are trying to flash an RUU via the recovery. You can make the bootloader flash an RUU by renaming rom.zip to PD98IMG.zip, or you can run the RUU exe in Windows (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890). Not aware of a way to do it from recovery.
However, for a custom ROMs, you just flash the ROM zip from recovery, and then, as @JJeamy says, you must extract the boot.img from the ROM zip and flash using fastboot.
