[Q]Android Revolution HD Music App can't detect songs in sdcard - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title mentioned, after I've done full wipe + flash ARHD 3.2 ROM (twice) the problem still persist. I can well play the song individually if selected from Astro File Manager but those songs just won't show up in HTC Music App. Any idea what might have caused it ?

Do you have a .nomedia file anywhere in the path to your music folder?

I have no problems with music app detecting songs. Place all your musics under the folder "Music" in the root of your sdcard.

Yes. just create a file entitled ".nomedia" and copy to those folders you want to exclude. As far as I remember, you have to reboot to make it work. That's all!

Create a blank text file called .nomedia then stick a copy of this in all the folders you DON'T want to appear in the music player.
That's how I understand it anyway, haven't tried it so I might be wrong!

Yes. An empty .nomedia file should be in every directory on your SD card which you don't want to include in your music player/photo viewer.
I attached a zip file with the .nomedia if you want it. Just extract it to necessary folders.

thanks a lot!!!
You could also install a player that allow you to specify directories that hold music. Mortplayer is such a player. Available from Marked.
I prefer to use the stock music player because I like to use the widget but
having to add a file to all directories is a bit of a pain ,
So I just downloaded mortplayer , and it works fine but you would think
you would be able to play only music from the mp3 folder by default or at least
given an option by the htc music player

[AOKP JB nightly]Google Play Music can't find any music files

Google Play Music can't find any music files since I flashed JB.
ICS is OK.
Other 3rd party app works fine, such as TTPlayer.
All music are in sdcard\music.

I had this before.. You should check your sdcard for ".nomedia" files scattered all over the place.
You shouldn't have one in the root directory and you definitely shouldn't have it in your music folder.
These files tells Android's Media Manager not to scan for media files in such directory. IIRC, TTPlayer (and others) do not use Media Manager to get information about media files. These files are useful if put in the correct directories.
I read somewhere that Rom Manager app put this file in the sdcard's root for no (known to me) reason. Dunno.
Yes. A botched update to ROM Manager put these files in the wrong directory (SDcard root). An update was released soon after to fix that. Just delete the .nomedia file in SD root folder and you should be fine.

Cant find music

Hi all, If I use ES file explorer on the phone I can see my music folder, and if I select a song it will play just fine, but when I go into the music App, it says "No Music found"...any ideas on whats happening here?
Configure music player to scan the music folder.
Ensure there is not a .nomedia file in that directory.

Ok all..thanks for the advice, I actually re-flashed the rom to remove the koontzes Kernel and reinstall the stock kernel that came with the rom, and all is working now..not sure why the Kernel affected files on the SD..I like the K-Kernel, but apparently it doesnt play well with this rom...but thats ok....Larry

[Q] Navigation sounds

Hi everyone!
I have a little trouble with my navigation system sounds on Xperia Arc S.
I'm using iGO Primo and this app is using sounds in *.mp3 format, so these sounds are automatically added to the Walkman application.
The question is : Can i somehow make the folder with these sound hidden for Walkman? Or any other solutions for this issue?
Thanks everyone!

create .nosound file in a folder with these mp3 files then clean data for walkman and media scanner and reboot. You don't have to clean data but it will take a while for these files to disappear from walkman app.
.nomedia file is a file that tells android media scanner to not scan this directory and its a plain text file named ".nomedia" without an txt extension. If you cant create this file then you can copy it from "android" folder in you sdcard.

Did everything as u've adviced (coppied the file from android folder and put in every sound directory) ; unfortunately didn't work (
If walkman is using media scanner then there is no way this cant work. Maybe you have to wait for these files to be deleted from app.

How can I make a audio folder not play

Idk if my subject line is misleading or not but I downloaded some music for a ladie friend of mine on my phone and I put them all in a folder using es file explorer but the drag is they show up in my music player. Is there anyway other than transferring with the usb to my pc to block or lock the folder so my music player won't play them?
