Hi,
A few days ago I started to follow the development of WP7 port for HD2. So I want to know whether there is a working WP7 build for the HD2?!
The next important thing I want to know if there is a working ROM:
Is it possible to run WP7 and WM6.5 parallel with dual boot? The best thing would be if it's possible to run WP7 from storage card without flashing it to ROM-Storrage. Or maybe like Gen.Y DualBOOT solution with WP7 instead of Android. I want to do this for testing WP7 in my company. We have some things to be tested on WP7 and don't want to buy new devices. Most important thing because we can not change completely to WP7 is, that we need the functionality of WM6.5 for our software. So maybe what I need is still possible?

Seriously ?
If you started to follow the progress or actually read ANY of the topics you would be aware of the fact that there is NO working build out there.
If you actually would have done anything besides finding out WP7 existed you would be aware of the fact that progress has been slow and painstakingly hard.
So in short dont state you cant find any info just actually search
Good to know, that there isn't a working build yet.
Users in some other boards wrote, that there is an early build with limited functionality. But this might be not the truth. I think xda-developers are more believable.
I think I should wait a while, because the first WP7 devices aren't released long time ago. Hacking the OS might be much easier while having devices running WP7.
Maybe someone write here, if there is a working HD2 build of WP7, that would be very great

Your company wants to test WP7 but wants to do it on a hacked phone? Too cheap to buy 1 device for testing? Sounds like a recipe for success!!

To add, even IF there's a working port, not all the functions will work properly, if at all... Just buy a WP7 phone if you're that interested in it. Of course if you have been "looking into it", you'd already know this.

Also the fact that there is no method to install your own apps....the testing will be such a success !!!!

Seriously, can we not have a million posts about porting android to WinPho 7? Go buy a mytouch 4G or a G2.
If/when it does ever happen then trust me there will be an announcement.
So please please please let me get what I want this time.
Anything is possible but what would the point be? Nearly all of the HTC Win7 phones are just tweaker versions of existing Android devices.
Man, what's the point?
You want Android, you buy an Android phone. Or buy a HD2 and run robot OS from storage card. It makes way more sense because:
1. HD2 is almost identical to HD7 save for the OS and a few details of design factor. Same screen size and fire power.
2. HD2 is now cheeeeeap.
3. Except for Android, you've also got a good line up of other OSes to run on the machine.
4. You don't have to pay for a not free OS that you are not planning to use. A penny saved is a penny earned.

For what? Androids garbage. If you want an Android phone so bad, go buy an Android phone. WP7 is fine by itself. If anything, id wanna see Ubuntu on my HD7. Certainly not crap like Android tho.

Would be great to dual boot WP7 and android
Yes, yes it would. It will be done eventually...
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
Can be done just fine already? Just need a version of android that will boot from SD.
Have a look in the Android forums, there's a tutorial there, Works just fine.
OMG. Thats Solves All My Problems.! THANK u XDA FORUM PEOPLE.
What is this thread about? I can't get it...
I've got another question: How long do you think it'll take until we see the first WP7 Custom-Roms on HTC WP7 phones? With Custom Roms I mean really modified roms and not RUU's or something like that.
Android and WP7 Dual-boot on my HD7...Wow! Would be really great. Android to play around with and WP7 as the everyday, stable OS I hope this will be realised in the near future. If it can be done on the iPhone, it can be done on WP7, too
Dual booting WP7 and Android
I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon... the SD card on a WP7 handset is not seperate from the OS. The card acts as if it is internal storage. MS doesn't allow apps to run outside (or natively) from their allocated isolated storage on WP7.
Until someone manages write a custom bootloader for a wp7 phone and can create a partition on a sd card that has already been formatted to work with a wp7 phone we are probably stuck with our fantastic wp7. hope ms opens it up real soon.
The HD2 was and still is the most flexible phone in the world!.
running wp6 android and now WP7...
if someone gets wp7 dualbooting on the HD2 then I think it is entirely possible we'll get it for our phones soon.

You can say everything you want, but WP6 now is old (nothing to compare with WP7, it sucks) so we don't need it anymore, memory card isn't a problem for me and also all the rest... If you are good enough, you can do anything you want on the phone (thank you xda-developers forum ).... and we are only at the beginning. HD2 is really good, nothing to say on this
the concept sounds pretty simple,.. the same as wm6. ... run a "haret" type file, from the mcsd card to boot,
now even though, the mcsd is built in on wp7, if u use the file explorer/disk drive thing 4 wp7 and copy it on, its the same as if u had taken the mcsd out.. i would think at least? for htc sounds like good news as we saw the hd2 has almost all drivers working...
someone should start an official android development thread for wp7.. its gonna get big anyway why wait for thread crapping?..
I have hd2 and Im so so so happy with it but here I come to my next thot what next????wm6.5 is dead, android is not for me wp7 ok but ugly here comes question IS IT POSSIBLE TO BRING SENSE 2,5 ON WP7 PHONES imagine wp7 system and beauty of cht on home screen FANTASTIC.So my question to all wp7 devs and all ppl there would you like this combination on your wp7 unit do you think its good or not and most important is someone out there who could make this working??????????

no...just no..
See above... Wp7 did awesome to get away from the trainwreck UIs that plague android and winmo. They have created the single cleanest and best looking OS in doing so. Sense would just much it up and I'm glad HTC doesn't have that much access because if I had to see that stupid flip clock I'd likely leave my phone for dead.
The only Sense UI aspect that *could* be done is to utilise tiles. I've seen mock-ups of this somewhere. However, we don't have that much flexibility with the tiles - i.e. no double tiles for the flippy clock and no direct way (without push implementation) to change what's on the tiles.

and yea I forgot 6.5 without sense looks nicer then wp7 and if you dont like flip clock no problem go little in 6.5 threads and look what those fantastic devs done of 6.5 IF SOME ONE OF THEM READ THIS ,,,,TY SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU GUYS FOR MAKING 6.5 STILL ALIVE

if your perogative is customization then you are on the wrong OS. Wp7 is a completelnew oS and is not an extension of windows mobile. The fact that it's locked down does not make it an iPhone clone and I must say, you're either trolling or really showing your ass here. Sense won't happen, you would have to hack the phone extensively, get htcs code, convert it to the proper format, unlock APIs that don't exist to make a tile that is fully live, and pretty much build it from scratch all with the potential lawsuit from HTC for doing so. That's just for that hideous clock. The next option would be to port android or wm6.5 onto your wp7 device but that's counter-intuitive at best and with winmo likely impossible. Either way, you're out of luck.
Android would be your best bet, you can customise it to look how you want AND HTC devices will obviously have sense. Even if sense could be done on WP7 as you dont like the OS itself its pointless as eventually you will have to deal with some aspects of it. And if you are happy living entirely within the sense environment again, an android device with sense is the solution.
Having thought about it, you could create an app - not a true UI like Sense.
You wouldn't suffer from the same problems, it'd be completely customizable and it could be instant resume...
Sure, there'd still be problems - i.e. you couldn't have shortcuts to apps etc. Oh and it probably wouldn't get into the Marketplace if it looked too much like Sense, so you'd have to sideload it.

well all I can do is wait and hope that roomers about htc OS is truth hope they will make something good and nice looking in one,or hope that my hd2 will run good couple of years more lool
buy an android/winmo phone next time
lol m8 I have rafpignas disareHD rom on my sd card just for games and browsing (flash 10,1)have flash 10,1 on wim mob too but not that god like on android
why we can install android on HD2 But we cant do that with HD7
Why would you wanna do that?
If you want Android you are probably gonna buy an Android device in the first place and there are plenty of HTC Android devices.

Essentially because there's little call for it. The upgrade from Winmo to Android/WP7 was drastic and you could have a high end device on any of the 3 OSes by porting it. If you ported android to the HD7 you would have paid as much for a low-end android device as you would for a mid-high end WP7, it's illogical and stupid and thus there's no call for it.

The main reason is because there is no interest in doing this. And the reason for that is because there isn't anything wrong with WP7 as compared to WinMo. The reason the HD2 got all that dev love was to get away from WinMo on a superphone. WP7, though, happens to be the best mobile OS ever invented. So there just won't be as much or any interest in hacking the HD7 just to put an inferior OS on it.
see all
first must say ThanX 4 all
i want know only why the HD2 have all OS Rom
Y there is android rom for HD7
WP7 VERy Good
i can't say any thing
but only want tho know
I can never understand this response. I had a sdand/wp7 hd2 until it broke, and it was replaced with an hd7. I like wp7 better but android offers more functionality and has a lot of apps/games which are unavailable on wp7.
I loved the option of switching OS' at a click and I can't imagine there aren't many others just like me. The truth is that I spent much more time using android than wp7 when I had the choice of either.
I just bought a galaxy note so ill be saying adieu to wp7 for now but I seriously hope I can dual not wp7 on it.

...if I remember correctly, some guys from xda-developers already came up with an Android version on a WP7 device, just to show that it can be done. However it didn't really work properly....
no one can understand me
sorry about that
i want know how to make an android Rom that run on HD2
and how it work ?!
